Best Bluetooth 2.0 Headset By A3Q2OEGP5O7SEI on 2006-08-10
I own a Blackberry 7250 and this Samsung WEP200 is the best Bluetooth Headset I've owned. I also own a Belkin which is a piece of >>>>. I've tried the Motorola H500 and it's better then the Belkin, but not even close to this Samsung headset. It has echo cancellation (which was a problem with the other two, Echo makes it hard for the other phone user to understand you), an easy volumne control, and a comfortable earpiece. This is Bluetooth 2.0 and it's worth the purchase price.
Great technology, doesn't fit or stay in the ear By A3E4KN9Z5UI9N5 on 2007-03-03
This is my third try at a bluetooth headset and I've finally found one that I'm happy with.
Tech: It is loud enough that you don't have to put your finger in your other ear, it's easy to tell if it is on or not (blinks every two seconds), the other person can hear you without much interference, it charges quickly and seems to hold the charge for an adequate amount of time, and it automatically picks up the call when you dial out or answer a call. My last Motorola did not do this. You had to dial the number then click either the headset or the bluetooth button on the phone to transfer it. The Samsung does this automatically. (I assume most headsets do this since no one comments on this, but this is an important feature.)
Fit: This is the major drawback, it will not fit in or stay in my ear, but there is a simple solution. I am not sure exactly what Samsung was thinking with this design. I have medium to larger ears and I could not get this headset into my ear at all. It simply hung precariously from the small "u" at the bottom of my ear and I actually had to set it for the opposite ear to accomplish this. I am not sure what this little hook thing is or why they call it a hook - it doesn't do ANYTHING. But, I liked the functionality of the headset so much I decided to purchase some Jabra ear gels and see if they would fit. This worked like a charm and my Samsung now fits snugly in my ear canal and never fall out. There is a marginal loss of volume, but it is still adequate. With this fix, I would highly recommend the headset as a great value, and the best one overall that I have tried. It is great for someone who wears glasses too as it doesn't go over the ear.
Great Product! By A37SKW2EMRYU4W on 2006-08-30
I've been using the WEP200 with my Blackberry 7130e for a couple of days now and love it. It is super comfortable and never feels like it may fall out despite it's small size. The set-up was easy, the sound quality excellent both for me and the person on the other end of the call. I've tried other Bluetooth headsets before but never found any of them to be as comfortable as this one. The price is great too.
a note about Samsung customer service By A17ZHXU9S1NRXL on 2008-02-29
Did you ever see "Better Off Dead"? Do you remember the paper boy that was stalking John Cusack. Remember what he kept saying? "I want my two dollars." Well, Samsung... I want my two dollar ear hook!
This product, the headset itself, works fine. No complaints. Here's a note, however, about a strange (astounding, really) policy that Samsung customer service has.
I've had this headset for a couple of weeks and the ear hook breaks. The headset fits okay without it, but overall, I like the fit with the ear hook better. A little annoying that it breaks so soon, but I think, "No big deal. Surely Samsung will send me another $2 ear hook. I'm well within the warranty period."
Guess what! NOT the case.
I call Samsung. I explain my deal. The reps says, "Nope. Not covered under the warranty." I say, "Really? A brand new $2 part isn't covered." She says, "Nope. Not covered." I say, "?????????" She says, "Sorry. The only way to get a new one is to pay for one yourself." I press the case a little. She stands firm. "That's the policy, sir." I hang up, completely baffled (and more than a little miffed).
Guess what, Samsung. The one I just bought for my wife... It's going back-- unopened.
Samsung saved $2 on the broken ear hook (BTW, normal use- no strange ear gymnastics on my part-- I put the thing over my ear and the headset falls off the hook), but lost the sale of the headset I bought for my sweetheart. I'm having trouble thinking I'll buy anything from Samsung if a clearly defective $2 part isn't covered under the warranty.
So here's my rating:
Product - 5 stars. Works great.
Minus 1 star for the cheapo ear hook
Minus 1 star for the really baffling policy of not covering a brand new product under warranty.
Where's that newspaper boy when you need him?
SO GOOD I BOUGHT TWO! By A1R9T34HY0HETZ on 2007-01-22
I purchased the WEP200 as one of my wife's Christmas presents. It was paired with a new LG phone offered by Verizon. The unit worked so well, I also bought one for myself. My unit is paired with a Verizon Samsung a990 phone and provides outstanding features and sound.
Before purchasing the WEP200, I was somewhat concerned that the unit would not stay in the ear (it does not have a hook). The units come with three different size rubber earpiece attachments (that easily pop on and off) and, once you find the size that fits you best, they will stay in even when you shake your head up and down or sideways.
In practice, the unit is actually much better for users who wear glasses. With some other units, the earhooks and glasses are not compatible. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
- Perfected It with Cushions!
     By A1JOXF3DETWXYI on 2006-12-12
Got it working with the Cingular Sync aka Samsung A707. People say I sound great on it and didn't realize I was wearing one and I have a car with a lot of wind-noise. Fit better once I cut off the loop. And I can see why people say it hurts after a long time or it may fall off. I don't intend to use it for hours or use it out of the car. So if it falls off, it will fall under the seats where I can retrieve it. The only reason to use it is in the car due to the state law. I turn it on before I drive and when the phone rings I put it in the ear and hit the button. When I'm walking around, I use the handset. Its my first BT device and it does what it supposed to do. Which is handle calls well while I drive. If you are looking for one to wear all day in the mall, this is not the one for you.
Update Dec 12: I came up with a brilliant idea. Feel free to patent it. I went to Verizon Wireless in Circuit City and bought their Verizon black "replacement ear cushions". My ears like felt material better than rubber for some reason. My WEP200 now fits in my ear very tightly (won't fall out) and it feels very comfortable. The rubber covers that come from Samsung are what hurt my ears. I will never wear them again. It still sounds great and since the cushions are black they look great too. My WEP200 now fits as snug as a bug in a rug. And the pain is gone. I can wear these for hours with no ear aches. So this is the solution for me. Glad I thought of it. For those of you have bought the WEP200 or are thinking of it, spend an extra $3 for some ear cushions. Your ears will appreciate it. Mine did.
- Great audio and the price is just right
     By A39KJOCZGCM8P1 on 2007-03-18
So far I'm pretry impressed with this unit. This headset is currently paired with a Blackberry 8800.
Pros -
1) Audio - ...is stellar. Yes, its prone to interference, but I've yet to see a unit that doesn't occasionally give you a bit of static (JX10 - I'm looking at you!). Callers were impressed to hear that I was using a headset.
2) Pairing - I've always thought this process to be a bit obtuse, but I guess it drives down costs to have the much-vaunted "multi-funtion" button. I find it annoying. That said, pairing was quick and easy with this unit and it **stays** paired for hours at a time.
3) Fit - Stays paired and stays in my ear for hours at a time. Does it hurt? Heck, even my ears can't stand canalphones. I stand at 6 feet and yet I have the earcanals of a 5 year old, I guess. I don't have a problem using this set all day, but my ears are still a bit sore. Still, this is much better than other models I've used (JX10 - I'm still looking at you!). For the record, I'm using the smallest gel. The WEP200 gives you three different sizes.
4) Price - one of the cheapest BT headsets around. I've tried expensive, I've tried cheap, I've tried middle of the road. So far, the WEP200 beats em all, even when not factoring in the cost.
5) Range - doesn't matter what side of my body this unit is on, it almost always makes a clear connection to the BB 8800. I also use this unit to take VOIP calls via Cisco IP Communicator on my Dell D620 laptop and iChat audio on my Macbook Pro. It gives you just enough freedom to roam. You start loosing your signal at about twenty feet in clear line of sight.
Cons -
1) Size - Unit is super tiny! It gets lost in my shirt pocket, my jacket pocket, left on the counter. Annoying when you are getting a call and your headset is still paired to your mobile. Its never a fun scramble, especially when someone important is at the other end. "Hang on a second! I need to find the headset!!!"
2) Charger - Not thrilled about the charger/carrying case, but if it helps keep the size of the headset down, I can't complain too much. I feel compelled to get my wife to buy one, just so we'd have two chargers around the house - one for upstairs and another downstairs. They're cheap enough, so why not?
Overall, this is the best BT headset I've ever used in the three years that I've been using them. Good show, Samsung.
- Sweet item with a minor pitfall
     By AK6VOZSEMAA7M on 2006-10-09
I'm in agreement with the positive reviews already posted here. This item works great and is amazingly small. I have it paired to my Samsung D807 phone and it works like a champ. Instead of repeating the nice comments that are posted in these reviews I wanted to highlight a strange design choice that gave me a bit of a scare and caused me to mark this product down by one star.
This headset comes with a small charging case that you use to carry the headset around when not in use. Once you place the headset into the case and then attach the travel charger to the case it inactivates the headset for the charging cycle. So far so good. The tricky part is that if you open the case and take out the headset and try to use it.. it doesn't work. I had to do some very careful reading of the manual to figure out what was wrong. The instruction manual indicated that you have to unplug the travel charger from the case. The removal of the power source allows the headset to then be available for use. Taking the headset out of the case while the power is plugged in will prevent the headset from working since it is in "charge" mode. This is very counter-intuitive since most electronics wouldn't make a distinction between these two actions.
The manual for this item could be a little clearer. The quick start guide gives all of the steps to pair the headset but leaves out a minor detail of entering the default password into your phone during the pairing process. The full manual shows that step.
All in all once the owner gets past these couple of pitfalls the device works like a champ and has been terrific.
- a word of caution about the wep200 bluetooth headset
     By A1IB5CE0PFH0KP on 2006-12-07
i rate the pairing, clarity, ease of use, size, comfort, fit and style of my wep200 as very good. be mindful, however, that the headset will be rendered useless if you lose the carrying/charging case. during a "what if" online inquiry i found out that a replacement case can't be bought separately from samsung. i called samsung to be sure. also, no afermarket source that i found offered anything compatible.
if you have "misplacing" issues, my advice to that prospective buyer or current owner of an intact kit is to leave the charging case at home with its' ac adaptor (there is currently neither car nor usb adaptor offered for this model) and carry the earpiece in a secure holder of your choice.
- Solid.
     By AQQ57YQYWFZAG on 2006-10-04
I have this paired with my Samsung C417 on Cingular for the past several days and so far I've been extremely happy with it. Pairing worked without problem, and the headset and phone quickly re-connect automatically whenever they are powered on and in range. The reception is good whether the phone is in my pocket or in the armrest of my car. The earpiece volume is excellent -- I've so far (office, home, and windows-closed car use) not had to turn it up louder than the lowest two settings. The sound quality is also at least as good as that on my handset (though this particular handset seems to have a particularly finicky speaker).
I've been told that when I'm calling from the office (where it is quiet), it sounds better than calling from my handset. In my car, people I call report hearing more background noise, but not an obstructive amount. I think background noise is par for the course with these tiny headsets, since their microphones aren't aimed at your mouth. I don't tend to use my cell phone outdoors much so I haven't had experience with wind noise or that sort of thing.
The headset looks a lot like a whistle when you're not wearing it, but it's surprisingly small and low profile when it's in your ear, and has a low-key design (including a small LED that blinks, but is not continously lit) which I personally appreciate. The buttons on the unit are big, tactile, and easy for me to press whether I'm wearing the headset or not. The headset also feels sturdy enough that I am comfortable carrying it around in my pocket with my cell phone, though only time will tell whether it will actually hold up to this kind of use.
I have only one minor issue so far with the headset, which is that it takes a button press of several seconds (the manual says 4; it feels bit longer to me) to power on and off. This can make it inconvenient if your phone rings and you suddenly decide you'd rather take the call with or without your headset, since you have to wait all the time for it to power on or off. Contrast this to the Motorola headsets with the flip boom, where flipping the boom open instantly turns on the headset and flipping it closed turns it off. This is a really minor issue for me, but might be a consideration if, for instance, you were planning to keep your headset in the car for occasional use.
The most subject part of the review is the comfort aspect, but I'll put in my two bits just to provide the perspective: earbuds tend to hurt my ears, and over the ear clips a la Motorola products don't feel secure on my ears. However, this Samsung unit does a good job of being easy to wear and fairly comfortable in my ear for my typical 20-30 minute conversation. It also doesn't feel floppy or insecure. Obviously everyone's ear is different so your results may vary.
- The best bluetooth headset (under $50 is a steal)
     By A1W2OYL5YAJF4C on 2006-12-02
I just bought this headset (for $80) at CompUSA and found it here for under $50. I thought it was a great buy for $80.... Basically, it has excellent reception (range up to 15 feet) and sound quality. It stays in the ear very well (there are 3 sizes of ear-pieces) and is very comfortable. For the current price, it is a great buy.
Update (4/2007): This headset is amazing. My original one went through the washer and dryer (so I bought another one). After a week of drying, the original one still works! (I don't recommend trying this.) After 4 months, this thing is still fantastic!
- this thing is unbelievably amazing
     By A2EQHUEC8NUV7W on 2006-09-08
don't let the image fool you to think it's boxy and bulky. It's actually smaller than my girly thumb. It's so light when inserted into my ear that it's definitly not a strain, the charger/case is amazingly smart, and effective! It works great, and the quality is great. For this price range, I don't know what else to ask for. It's compact, and smart. It's so small, people WILL wonder if you are talking to your self. I've rarely felt so compelled to write a review because I was amazed.
- damned impressive
     By A339F4I8GBN3H3 on 2007-01-09
This is without a doubt the _loudest_ bluetooth headset i've ever used. Even for the friend of mine who mumbles constantly on the phone i've never had to use this about 50% volume. I've tried it on four different phones and had it work great with all of them. Sound quality is top notch too.
Tip:
Try all the different tips, and try it in both ears.
- WEP200: Poor Customer Support/Built-In Obsolescence
     By A2KTJ867FW7T11 on 2007-05-26
The WEP200 comes with three differently sized rubber grommets. This rubber grommet is placed over the ear piece and keeps the WEP200 in your ear. Unfortunately, this rubber grommet wears out rather quickly and then the WEP200 continuously falls out of your ear. I tried several times to purchase additional rubber grommets from Samsung, but they will not sell them separately and Samsung could not say where I could buy them in the aftermarket. This is the only user-replaceable wear part on the WEP200. When it fails, the unit, even if it is still functional, cannot be used because you cannot keep it in your ear. As it is, I have lost mine many times. This is the worst customer support I have ever seen.
- Excellent headset!!
     By A3IGUB0YLZYU3V on 2006-08-31
The samsung WEP200 headset is excellent! Its comfortable, lightweight, very loud and its clear! For the money, its by far the best headset you can buy. Dont let the cheap price fool you, just buy it! Jabra JX10? Terrible sound quality. Motorolas are about the same, not very good. This headset is great!
- excellent for eyeglass wearers
     By A1HLHKFOWH5T1L on 2006-11-16
The in-ear design makes this an excellent choice for eyeglass wearers. Sound quality is better than Moto H500. More reliable speech recognition when used with my V3c from Verizon compared to H500. Disadvantages: No in-car charger. Needs case to charge. Can be uncomfortable when used in-ear for long periods.
- works great
     By A1K0E8HBR1KY07 on 2006-09-18
The only other bluetooth I've tried was the motorola H500, which didn't work for me.
I have very small ears and this one works well. It's VERY lightweight.
It is hard to get used to it at first cuz it actually fits inside your ear and doens't loop around it.
The sound is great -- no one can tell i'm on a headset.
I have a samsung D807 and the headset works great with the voice activation feature.
The only bad thing is that is sometimes gets stuck in my long hair and/or if I touch/nudge it, it falls out. But that is a small thing for a great working headset. Or if I have it in for a long time, my ear will ache a bit. But I think that is just because I have tiny ears.
bottom line: SOO much better than motorola BT
- Great product for people who wear glasses
     By A3N4VTNFPMTHEF on 2008-03-01
Comfort:
The WEP200 is great for people who wear glasses because there isn't an extra hook that goes over your ear. The tiny loop on the WEP200 earpiece is flexible and does a good job of hooking or bracing the unit in your ear. You can also rotate it to fit it in your left or right ear. I've been able to freely talk and move my head around without feeling like the headset would fall out.
Battery life:
The battery life seems to be shorter than my Plantronics Voyager 510, but it's understandable with the much smaller size of the WEP200. I really haven't had an issue with the battery, as long as I remember to take it out of the car with me to charge overnight or during the day. I have to take it with me because, as of March 2008, there doesn't seem to be a car charger accessory for this headset.
Update May 2008: As M. Cirone points out in the comment below, there are now car charger accessories available for the WEP 200!
Sound quality:
The sound quality isn't as good as my Plantronics Voyager either, but it's still good enough for phone calls. People on the other end don't seem to have problems understanding me and I can hear them well enough.
Ease of use:
The buttons are big and easy to reach, but take a little bit of force. Since the headset is so small though, it's easy enough to hold it in place while you press buttons.
I also had no trouble connecting this headset to my Nokia 6300 phone. In fact, I can switch between this in my car and my Plantronics at home without any issues.
Overall, this is an excellent, inexpensive headset, especially for people who wear glasses. It's definitely tiny though so it's very easy to lose if you're not careful.
- Definitely a good buy...
     By A3D89TEXZZLEBZ on 2006-09-07
First, the bad, and yes there is some:
-It took me a few weeks to get used to it in my ear. It was actually really uncomfortable at first but after having it in periodically for a few weeks I got used to it.
-Anytime I call someone there is an irritating static sound for about 2 seconds until it connects (this is with my Samsung T809 phone).
Now the good:
-Incredibly small and light-weight.
-Very loud and clear.
-Looks awesome.
Bottom line, if you need a Bluetooth 2.0 headset, this is definitely a worthy buy.
- Not Compatible
     By A2H31XC5RCQ0Y1 on 2006-09-07
I bought the Samsung WEP200 bluetooth headset kit based on reviews here and elsewhere, but when it arrived I found it was not compabible with my other Bluetooth devices, including my Windows laptop and my Sprint smartphone (PPC-6700). The Samsung support person said they don't support any devices other than the Samsung cell phones. That's disappointing, because otherwise it's a nice unit.
- This works well for me.
     By A31FLO6SAPO7Y on 2006-10-30
Expected a small earphone based on reviews but was still surprised at it's tiny size when first looking at it up close.
Medium ear "hook" worked for me - suggest playing with this (removing the rubber hook and adjusting it on the ear piece) until getting right fit - the bud goes in ear and added loop of rubber is supposed to counter against the curve in another part of your outer ear - genius design imho and when this thing is in, even jumping up and down or shaking your head or tapping your head (yes tried that too, silly I know...) will not dislodge this.
Paired easily with a samsung ach930, sound is great and the other side of the call is also impressed, no complaints of echo or static.
Have a plantronics 510 which is good, this wep200 is smaller yet compares in quality to the plantronics.
- Irritates Ear
     By A3ULQ9398FTLVM on 2007-11-10
I purchased this headset a while back and have used it consistantly while on the road with my Pocket PC phone. It certainly has some pros and cons.
Here they are:
Connectivity - hooks up flawlessly, 10 points on a scale of 10
Size - excellent, I put it in my shirt pocket when not in use and in the ear it doesn't look tacky, 10 points
Battery life - At least 3 hours talk and 20 hours standby - I've never taken it to a dead battery, 8 points
Features - works well for voice dial, call initiation and answering, etc., 8 points
Earphone sound quality - pretty good on highest volume - hard to hear in noisy environments, 7 points
Microphone sound quality - picks up a lot of background noise - I have people saying "what?" a lot, 5 points
Fit in ear - the big negative in my particular case, 2 points
I love the size and convenience of this Samsung unit and it comes with different size earpieces but depending on your shape of ear it does not hold snuggly. I am not able to keep it in my ear for extended periods because it begins to come loose and falls out - especially if you're walking or moving a lot. I end up placing it in my shirt pocket until I need it which actually works well since you don't have to have an "attachment" on you all the time. The problem is that I have to twist it to get the best hold and over time it has irritated my ear to the extent that I constantly have peeling skin in the area that it contacts.
In an effort to be completely fair, I have let my wife fit it in her ear and it holds much better without twisting. My ear is a little bit larger where the unit fits in. So regarding fit, it is probably hit or miss depending on your ear shape and size. With the current price it's definitely worth a try because everything else about it is pretty good.
- Great connection, bad design.
     By A3D89TEXZZLEBZ on 2006-07-16
OK the good stuff first: it works flawlessly with my SGH-T809 phone. When I dial out I always get a short static/crackle noise but it disappears as soon as I hear ringing on the other end. Not sure if that's how it secures a connection or whatever, but it's not a big deal. Sounds great, haven't had one complaint yet and it's been plenty loud enough so far. It's also great looking. It's very small, and very light.
Now for the bad... The earpiece came with 3 different ear-piece adapters. They're each just millimeters different in size (S, M, L). And that's the only way to wear it - there is no external ear loop or anything. So why is that bad? Well this thing hurts my ear after 15 minutes of wearing it. I had a friend wear it also to see if it was my ears or the earpiece. His ear started to ache after about 25 minutes. This sucks, b/c it defeats the purpose of having it. I emailed Samsung about this, and asked if they make an external ear loop for it. Haven't heard back from them so far.
So my conclusion: If you can wear this w/o any ear pain then get it. It works flawlessly and is very clear. But if you can't wear it, you'll probably be sending it back.
- Couldn't get it to stay in my ear
     By ALSMI3ZAD0AIV on 2006-11-15
I tried all the different ear piece sizes but was unable to get it to stay in either ear. My low rating is based on this and not actual performance of the headset.
- "Stick It In Your Ear" - I dare you!
     By A29PONC9V3URIQ on 2007-01-31
This accessory came highly recommended - and we do our homework! Unfortunately, we'll never know how well it works, because neither my husband nor I could manage to get the earpiece into either of our ears. We completely agree with the review provided by Small Forest "lionpol" on 1-30-07. We've had to return it.

- Bluetooth with a cavity
     By A1MV6SMIRQ5YU7 on 2008-06-15
Don't waste your time on this item, it will not stay in your ear even during the slightest movement. The device picks up alot of background noise and you can not hear the calling party unless you push this too small device in your ear. Worst wireless headset I have ever had. Buy a Jawbone.
- Good headset for cellphones with bluetooth.
     By A3F0DV7R2Y8XSD on 2006-10-09
I recently purchased this item for My cell phone and it works great. It is fully compatible with Samsungs T809 cell phone. It is exactly what i needed for those times when driving. You can't go wrong. It's easy to use and is light wieght too.
- If it fits, you'll really like it
     By A2MNRECEGRMN25 on 2006-11-21
I bought this headset and paired it with the LG VX8300
Pros:
Works great with eyeglasses
Very, very small. Until you see it in real life, photos do not give you an appreciation for just how small this thing is.
Easy to reach buttons
Easy, intuitive controls (coming from a Moto HS350)
Decent battery life
Clear, loud sound.
Cons:
Static - but in fairness to Samsung, about the same as my previous moto. If it fit me better and didn't have the static, I'd give it 5 stars.
Stability - secure, but not as much as earloop style headsets
In-ear fit - it will fit great, or it will give you an earache. We're all individuals, so your mileage may vary. Samsung does provide three different silicone fittings.
Unfortunately, it tends to make my ears sore after an hour. I want an earpiece that is so light and comfortable, I forget that it's there. It's light enough, but it hurts me to wear it. I'll chalk this one up to my individual ears; but I had to return it.
Kudos to Amazon for their friendly return policy.
- lowest volume is a bit too loud

This earpiece is tiny and works well with my Samsung e760.
Pros:
-Smallest BT I have seen in use, ever. Those business guys you see still using a facehugger look almost comical in comparison.
-Good signal when there is line of sight to phone.
-Easy controls.
-Fits well in my year.
Cons:
-The lowest volume is a bit too loud. If I am at home and its quiet, I would normally have the volume very low. But lowest volume on my phone coupled with lowest volume on this unit is still a bit too high.
-Charge pod needs wall wart, and there are no other options. What they should have done is include an adaptor which uses the Samsung phone wall wart, at least. Also, you have to manually turn on the earpiece every time you take it off the charger, which means holding the button for 8 seconds.
-Talk time is a bit low. It poops out at about 3 hours. Not that you should be talking more than 3 hours, but it forces you to charge it after almost any longish call because you dont want it to die on the next longish call.
