Finally I got a keeper from Casio By A3RJRRX75EAE1V on 2007-11-14
This is the 3rd Casio I buy in the last year... and the cheapest. I previously tried the G601-1AV and later the GW1300A-9AV, both of the G-Shock family. However, I was looking for one with analog and digital time, but easy to read and with night illumination. The G601 is nice, but the small rounded digital displays are a bit too small for my old eyes, and the night illumination is only for the digital displays!. Then I bought the GW1300 because it was advertised as having two LEDs that illuminated the whole face of the watch and was solar powered. True! but... the design is such that when the face is illuminated in the dark, it is so full of shiny surfaces and reflections that you can hardly distinguish the analog hands, and nothing of the digital displays. So, I kept looking and finally decided on this one, the AQ160W with not too much hope... and voila! it was perfect for me! Thinner than the G-Shocks and very light weight, the digital displays are big and easy to read, even if the hands are over them (the digits look gold on day light, very nice, not like the picture here which shows how it looks when the green back light is on). The backlight, with optional auto turn-on, is perfectly readable, and you can see, besides the big numbers, the silhouette of the analog hands over the background. I am ready to give up the 200m water resist, the solar power, the waveceptor auto time set, the automatic handles setting by the digital clock, all for the good design of this watch. It would be perfect if Casio added to this one the solar power and the auto setting of the analog clock. The dual world time, auto calendar, chronometer, timer, multiple alarms, are all common features of these watches however.
The only drawback for me is the extremely thin resin band, which being very confortable, does not look long lasting. I hope I can find replacements in the future.
Anyway, great watch! My search is over...
(I must say that this search would have been much easier if I had the chance to try these watches in a local store before buying, but none of these models were available where I live.)
Great looking watch... By A3MW70796FME25 on 2007-03-21
With a timer, stopwatch, 4 alarms *and* a "snooze" alarm this would be a nice, full featured watch. But, add to that list multiple time-zones, daylight saving time switch *and* both analog and digital faces and you have a fantastic watch.
Likes: averaged size watch face, not HUGE, but not small, it looks good enough to be worn dressy or while roughing it. Multiple alarms is a necessity for me.
Dislikes: some functions only work in one direction. For example, if you are setting the analog face, the arms only move forward, so if you pass up the correct time, you need to go through another 12 hours of settings. Same thing for multiple time-zones, if you pass up the time-zone you want you'll need to circle the earth one more time. Not hugely a problem, just not convenient.
Nice Watch By A26BQFYFLO3QR0 on 2007-07-12
I love the look of a digital/analog watch. Most of the ones I have seen are expensive, and mostly men's watches. This watch can be unisex, as it also has a wristband that will fit from a small wrist (mine are tiny) to a thick one. The directions for setting the many features were very clear and easy to understand. I love that it also has daylight saving time built in, so you don't have to worry about adjusting your watch. The analog, and the digital time change at once automatically. You can also set your watch according to city, and worldwide timezone. I could not have asked for anything more.
Nice Looking But Flimsy By A2G940GNV2G96V on 2007-11-18
I had been looking for a nice combination analog-digital timepiece, and this seemed to be what I was searching for. I really liked the looks of it from the photos I'd seen. The price seemed reasonable as well. After buying it I was a little disappointed by the cheap "feel" of the watch. After about only a month, the acrylic crystal and plastic case seemed to show a little too much wear. I know that the crystal can be buffed, but I didn't think I'd have to worry about that so soon. Also, one of the plastic lugs for the band broke when (in my opinion) only a moderate amount of pressure was applied to the strap from carrying it in my pocket. This might not have been a problem if the strap wasn't designed to fit so snuggly against the case. Now of course the watch is unwearable. I'm not against owning plastic watches, but this watch didn't seem as durable as any other plastic-cased watch that I've owned. I do like Casio's, but I will probably stick with something from their G-Shock line next time. They are a little more expensive, but more durable.
Almost... the best Ana-Digi watch out there. By A5TP3ELB6N9TT on 2006-06-12
I am a big fan of analog watches as i can somehow calculate time differences quicker with them... but I also wanted a stop watch and calendar on my wrist.
This watch gives the best combination of both with a large easily readable digital display along with the 2 hands (which are illuminous.. glow in the dark). The resin strap is more comfortable in the summer and doent pinch the hair on my wrist. The analog time is a little hard to set so i rarely change it when travelling across timezones and instead switch cities using the built in list which adjusts the digital time. The large multi lcd display also makes it easier to use than the rest of the ana-digi's out there with the teeny weenie lcd near the bottom of the dial.
The downsides... The stainless steel bezel is a little too shiny for me (some kinda matte wouldve looked cooler). Perhaps the metal version of this watch mentioned in the other reviews actually has the matte finish. I will try uploading a few photos of this watch for comparison if allowed. The watch is otherwise very good except for the thickness of the case, which is a little too much for my wrists. The exact measurements being 1.5cm thick and 4 cm wide for my 5cm wide wrists.
This wouldve been the perfect watch if only it was 5mm thinner... i suggest u measure my given dimensions against ur wrist size before buying.
- Really cool looking resin band Casio
     By A382ML22DS5DNH on 2006-06-02
Also check my review for AQ160WD1BV, the metallic version.
I own both. In terms of functionality and features, both the metal and resin band versions are exactly the same.
This resin band version looks little bit different, because of the black resin band, and a black ring above the dial as opposed to metallic ring. Given a choice i would choose the metallic version of this watch. But the resin band is very cool. Its lighter weight, the dial is slightly thinner.
This watch has world time, countdown timer, stopwatch, snooze alarm, everything you ever want, except
1) Solar power
2) Automatic time setting (waveceptor)
It also has the illuminator.
I would recommend this watch to anyone who is looking for a cool looking resin band casio.
One slight potential problem is, if you have a wide wrist, then this watch may not be for you. The resin band is not long enough for think wrists.
- Eww, Plastic
     By A6JWWYHDFATA1 on 2008-05-02
As a watch lover, I was excited to receive my watch. Upon opening the box, I found the plastic watch band broken. Now, I am rather cheap, so understandably I did not expect to open up and receive an indestructible nuclear time-piece, but I had hopes for one of slightly higher quality. Buyer beware- it's a great watch and a steal... only at a much lower price.
On a much lighter note, Amazon was very diligent and efficient at taking back the defective watch and returning a full refund. Kudos to you oh great internet shopping center.
- It lasted about two weeks.
     By A2U1DXMSFX52FL on 2008-09-12
The reason is a broken band anchor, as also mentioned in a previous review. It happened while I was taking the watch off. The plastic on the watch that holds the anchor pin broke away. I don't think that the pressure I exerted that caused this was that extreme. I believe that the quality of the plastic wasn't good enough for normal use. I do not recommend it.
- Broken band anchor!
     By A383T6IDCVFGQX on 2008-09-05
The watch itself is excellent, but the design of the anchor where the wrist band attaches to the watch is poor. The band has broken away from the watch. This is the third Casio watch where the wrist band anchor has broken. They should use metal instead of plastic to anchor the wrist band
- A light daily use watch
     By A2HXUZQM4LPD7I on 2007-10-18
Great Watch - I really like the world time and auto-light features. Feels right on the wrist. Only one complaint after wearing the watch for over 12-14 hrs, the band starts chafing. But for around 30 bucks can't get a better watch than this.
- Great watch
     By A2LOR1V9KDDK8X on 2007-10-29
this Casio is a great watch I was looking to replace my everyday watch, this one is perfect, it has many functions, its very light on your wrist, and durable, for the price its perfect.
- Great all purpose watch
     By A7ASO7K05RWJI on 2007-11-27
I paid $27.50 for this with free shipping. I was suprised at how easy it is to use all the functions. Watch looks nice. It is lightweight. Trim around bezel area in picture appears grey, but it is really a chrome color/look which in my opinion is much better. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that the digital time is very dim unless light reflects off it just right. On the other hand, the illumination works great to light it up!
- Great watch for sports, awesome functionalities
     By A2FX1SA76OLMIH on 2007-11-30
Light, well designed, all possible functions you can think of from a watch and great price! It's priced as a daily watch, nothing fancy. However the high-tech feel and actual impressive functions (world time, day time saving, countdown, stop watch, whole face lumination, digi-analog display, multi alarms with snooze, date and day display, and 100M waterproof). Someone complains about the material (easy to scratch...), but come on, for any other material this would not be as light as ideal for sports. If you are doing sports that require a timing device (such as running and swimming), you don't usually scratch it. If you are wrestling, you don't wear watch.
- Nice watch
     By A1LL4YOKIJZEHS on 2007-12-08
For the price, this is a very good watch. The directions are straight forward and I have not had any problems with the operation of this watch.
- BE CAREFUL WITH CASIO
     By A88ATQBYFN50Q on 2008-10-09
I have had a Casio watch for about a year and now the watchband needs replaced. I was informed by Walmart that they cannot replace a Casio watchband. I called Casio and they told me that as far as they know NO CASIO WATCHBAND CAN BE REPLACED BY A NORMAL WATCHBAND! I had to order a watchband from Casio and they had to know which model it was before I ordered it. Total price: $12.00 shipping, handling and sales tax included. I then asked the representative if instructions would be included because it was a different type of setup instead of pins. HE SAID THAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO RECOMMEND TAKING THE BAND TO A JEWELER TO HAVE IT PUT ON!! PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS AS BANDS DO NOT LAST FOREVER!!
- Scratches!
     By A38CSOLJHG391O on 2007-11-17
This is an alright watch, however the screen was scratched two minutes after I opened it!
- Sharp watch and a good deal
     By A133JCCQ65JNDG on 2008-03-07
This is a very sharp watch for the price. It has plenty of features. The stopwatch resets after 59 minutes and 59 seconds. Keep this in mind if you are a runner.
- Little bit Dressy--Little Bit Functional
     By A2JLER7HK647DZ on 2008-07-08
I love digital watches, but they always look a little geeky or like I'm getting ready for jogging. This watch gives me a general time with the analog hands and if I need to be exact..the digital can be read with a little more effort.
Watch band is a little short, (or my wrists are a little fat)..I can get on but it's right at the last hole.
Also, it's a great price, perfect for 2nd watch when you don't want to look too nerdy or too sporty.
- A great watch
     By A3CF65A5DT038T on 2007-03-12
I really like this watch. It is perhaps the best looking watch that I have ever owned. Granted, this is the first "analog" watch that I have owned because I just like digital watches more. I always read the time off the digital display off this watch, but I like the analog appeal of it. The chrome bezel around it looks great also. It is a hard watch to beat for the price!
- Great Watch
     By A2SUCUKPM9L4H0 on 2007-05-12
This watch is great for the money and is everyday practical , also chelsea watch is a 5 star supplier.
- Great Watch
     By A26BQFYFLO3QR0 on 2007-07-21
I love this watch. I own some pretty expensive watches (gucci, tag hauer) and I must say that of all of them, this one is my favorite. Deep down I am a nerd, and I just think that the analog digital look is so cool. I like the illumination button, as well as the hands that glow in the dark. It has more features than I really need, but it's nice to know they are there, and for the price, this cannot be beat. I was a little concerned, as it is advertised as a men's watch, that it might be too large for me, and that the band would be too big. I was very glad to see that it accomodates even the smallest of wrist (and my wrists are tiny). The face is not too big. This is a fantastic unisex watch!
- Great watch,except for 'thickness'
     By A3EZG4K5VBW16O on 2008-04-16
I like everything about this watch except for how high it sits on my wrist. I like the large(but not obnoxious)displays. The pushbuttons work well and it's easy to navigate to most functions. In my line of work, I must often put my arms into tight spaces of machinery. The first day at work with my new watch, I managed to scratch the face of it.(because of its high profile) So that's my only complaint. Otherwise, a great watch.
- great watch
     By A2PAT5HESJYOWL on 2008-06-22
Great product, easy to read, very sharp-looking. Only downside is that face easily gets scratched because the glass on the face comes out a little further than the sides. But other than that, it's a great watch.
- Great watch. . .great price!
     By ARXGKOCF0G0UB on 2008-07-24
After a trip to the local Target, I was disappointed by the watches they carried with a reasonable price tag for work (they had some great 'high end' Timex watches, but $100+ for a work watch is too much!). I decided to pop into Amazon and see what they had for me, and the number one seller was this watch.
Available for around thirty dollars, this watch is pretty slick. It has the ability to set multiple time zones, and even set the analog hands differently from the digital time. It shows the day of the week right on the face (a big deal when you get old enough that your work days all blend together!), and the date is there as well. Also, the back-lighting is all you would expect in today's day and age of watches... very readable.
Because I was simply looking for a day-to-day watch, I don't really care about any other features, but it does look to have the normal array of lap-timers and such. If that is something you care about, you should probably take a peek at the feature details that I have overlooked on the product description.
Overall, this was a great purchase, and well worth the reasonable cost. I can overwhelmingly recommend this watch to anyone looking for a great day-to-day timepiece to help you through the day!
- Great Watch
     By A2F7LS50L0IX6E on 2008-07-30
I like the watch but the sweep hands get in the way of viewing the digital time. I would recommend the watch.
- Quite a loud bang for the buck
     By A2GLP8IFM7DJL1 on 2008-08-10
I own several watches that cover a wide range and each has a designated occasion/role. I needed a watch for the gym/travel/hiking... you get the point: essentially something that I wouldn't feel bad about accidentally destroying. At ~$26 w/free shipping, this Casio was a no brainer.
I travel to at least a couple of countries every year, and the dual time feature works great. The airport/region codes cover almost every time zone in the World. Although I do have a high end watch that does the same, this works great through the actual journey without the worry of damaging or losing it. The buttons are comfortable and do not get needlessly pushed with daily activities.
The face has a very unique and useful seconds counter that helps me visually keep workout reps paced accurately. The strap is long enough for me, but I can't go any smaller. I have a mid-sized wrist and I can see larger wrists having a problem. The watch is very light, making it easy when on the treadmill. In all light intensities, I did not have a problem viewing the digital display. The "Illuminator" backlight is short, but does the job.
Overall, a solid watch that you don't have to think twice about. Buy it, use it, trash it, get another. If you don't want to get another, get the G-Shock version of the same watch which costs appx twice as much.
- Cool Watch
     By A1RH5GMW49OAKM on 2007-04-26
This watch is really nice. The price is reduced from the casio website. The main reason why I bought it. Also I liked the style of the watch and the world time feature. It came right on time! I am satisfied. This is a nice looking watch and I love it!
- Great watch for the price and features
     By ALZZOGV4ZAW99 on 2007-05-19
After a long search, I took a chance with this watch. I am a fan of Casio watches and have had good luck with them. This one is very neat with all the features and time zones. I like the 'reversed' digital face and the analog overlay. I hope it has a long lifespan. I could not find anything like this in the stores for the features and price. Quick shipping, too.
- Good watch for the price
     By A1VBO5AHSFPUT on 2007-05-25
I purchased this item a couple of weeks ago and it has worked perfectly. Keeps very accurate time. My only complaint would be the band is a little uncomfortable, but that's just my opinion.
- Very Thick, not a sports watch, photo misleading
     By A2RSO0JRWM2J6P on 2007-06-07
The photo is misleading. The problem I have with this watch is, that this is not a sports watch, as it said. Very thick, hence can not use for sports. It get damaged very easily. If you want a sports watch, buy any TIMEX product, they are great.
This Watch is great in appearance and worth for the money. Great functionality, different time zones...
