  I bought this camera to replace a Logitech QuickCam Fusion. I'd been having problems with Skype, all of which seemed related to the Fusion.
  
  This camera's image in significantly better than the Fusion's in my (not so great) office lighting. That's quite an accomplishment, considering the Fusion is a current product and sells for three times the price of this camera. I recommend it particularly for those who want to video-chat with their away-from-home kids. It's inexpensive enough to buy one for each.

  I'm new to webcams and have found it both easy and enjoyable to use the VX1000. It installed quickly without disruption to my laptop, provides clear images, and decent audio quality. Perhaps users who are more tech minded might prefer something more elaborate, but this works well for me. Good price too.

  Here's what I like about this camera:
  1) Good clarity
  2) Microsoft brand
  3) Excellent price
  4) Camera is integrated with Microsoft Instant Messenger.
  5) Integrated microphone.

  We bought one for ourselves and one for my parents who live out of state so they can see their grandkids. Ours installed fine, but my parents are still having difficulties. For some reason Internet Explorer doesn't want to work on their Windows based computer. They have been using Firefox because of the problem. This wouldn't be a problem, but the Lifecam is a Microsoft product and requires Explorer. Here we are a month after Christmas and we still haven't been able to use it so I can't give any more of a review.

  Very easy to install, the connection is reasonably easy to make with another unit. The video quality is ok, but not like you're watching TV, for sure. A unit that follows your head as it moves might be a better choice for heavy users. But so far I'm very pleased.
  
  
• Easy Setup, Good Video Picture

  We are moving across country, so I bought this video camera as a gift for my father so that we can stay in touch through Skype. I had it shipped directly to him and told him to give me a call when it arrived so I could help him set it up.
  
  After it arrived, he called and said he had it ready to go - it was that easy to set up. We connected via Skype and everything worked great. I'm running a MacBook Pro with a built-in camera, so the video isn't as great as what I'm used to seeing but for the price, it deserves five stars.

  Microsoft Lifecam 1000 works great, it does rest steady and solidly on my Dell Ultrasharp 19" flat display. The video quality is good for a basic model. Enjoy.

  I have this webcam and it's great, the only downside is the lighting it's too dark but with a lamp it's perfect. If you move fast it doesn't blur,if you know nothing of technology it's easy to use, the sound is really good and the price is perfect. I didn't want to spend to much money but I wanted a good camera,I did all searches and read all the reviews and this was the perfect 1 for the price. But don't get the microsoftVX3000, just because it's more money doesn't always mean it's better it's the same thing as this one but if you want a great camera and the price doesn't matter then go with the Microsoft VX6000. Don't pay more then $30 for this camera.

  resolution is better than average. kinda hard to manipulate without pressing the damn button on top....and doesNt quite sit on my flat panel as demonstrated in pictures

  I ordered this cam a week ago,ive used it 2 days now, and i am happy with it. the only thing is that, if you have the new window's vista, the cd that comes with the cam, dosent work. you have to go directly to microsoft's website, and download the software. the cam arrived earlier than they said it would. the company was very good at sending quickly. the cam show's very clear. this is the best cam i've owned. i found this cam on this site for $14.99 in new condition, you cant beat that! i would recommend this product to other's who are looking for a good quality cam,and dont want to spend alot of money.

  I was pleasantly surprised how easy this was to set up and use. Now I can send video's to my grandchildren, upload to my space and UTube and make a video diary for my family. It's wonderful! I'm sure there are better cams at higher prices but I cam very happy with this one and don't plan on changing. It didn't jiggle and covered my moves smoothly and kept in focus. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to start web videoing. It's a lot of fun!

  I was extremely satisfied with this camera;it was good value for money and performed well in use.The only point I felt it lacked,was a hook bracket to fit it to the top edge of my monitor screen.However as I had a shelf conveniently situated above my monitor,this didn't matter.
  The promptness of the delivery was also a large plus in its favour.
  All in all I felt it was a very good buy and would recommend the product and the supplier to anyone thinking of purchasing such an item.

  Does exactly what it says it does. Well worth the price. Not the best quality video or picture but it is definitely worth its price. Extremely easy installation and user interface. This camera is perfect for the beginner webcammer yet has all the functions needed to perform necessary things.

  I'm happy with this camera. I got it for video conferences with my parents so they can see their grandchildren. The video quality over high-speed DSL is pretty good. The sound quality is ok. The room should be quiet otherwise too much background noise causes interference. I've had connection problems using Windows Live Messenger (sometimes I get bump off). Not sure why but it hasn't been a major problem. If you use Windows Live Messenger you'll need to set up a hotmail account. The software that comes with it is also pretty good. It allows you to save video, pictures or audio files directly to a file. Good choice for a budget webcam.

  This is a simple and reliable webcam that is optimized for Windows Live Messenger and works superbly with Windows Vista. It lacks the bells and whistles that I don't need or want. It has a microphone built into it so the whole unit just perches on the top of my flat screen monitor and is ultra-simple to operate--just like I wanted. There are many more generations of this webcam by Microsoft that cost alot more money, but you simply won't get as much value for your dollar.

  PROS: This was my first webcam purchase and I couldn't be more satisfied. The intent was to use this for video chats to family members. I originally purchased this product on sale so this was practically a steal compare to other web cams. The installation and setup was easy. I had more difficulty getting my non-techie family to set up IM, but it was worth it. They can see and hear their grandson/nephew quite well. They are happy with the quality on the back end and thinking of purchasing one for each of their families.
  
  CONS: Their is no zoom control as with some higher priced models, but this is an excellent choice for the price.

  Like some other post here, IM a first time user of a web-cam. I picked the Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000 because of the reputation, and next because of the price. Very easy to set up and use, and comes with a few video effects. It sets very stable on my thin monitor, has decent video capture, the still shots are not bad at all either. I find the audio to be very acceptable. Cool little web-cam, and IM happy with it.

  I hooked it up and it works fine. But it only seems to work with Windows Messenger, and I primarily use yahoo. It's probably a case of me not reading all the fine print before I purchased it, but shouldn't all webcams work with whatever program accesses it? It doesn't make sense that it only works with WM.
  
  The positive notes are it's very small and sits nicely on my flatscreen monitor. I just wish it would work in the way I want it to. I mean, my HP printer doesn't require I use all HP software to use it. I can hit print in any application and it will work. Why doesn't this work the same way?

  I am happy with my webcam good quality picture, the only downside is that the build in lightning is not that hot, you need an extra desk lamp, but beside that the picture is bright and body motion is of a good quality no freezing or sticking, camera goes with body motion. and the build in mic works better then I had expected. I LOVE THIS CAMERA

  the image of this camera is above average tho it can't catch pics well when the object is shaking, but who cares. and the price is good at this range of money. if you're easy going, looking for something to replace your last decent camera, this one will be a good deal

  I actually like this product, the installation software was straight forward so it was very easy. The picture quality is a bit blurry and the sound quality is a bit staticy but for the money I spent I think I can deal with it.

  This is my first web cam and I was quite pleased with the video quality and ease of installation. I installed the camera on a Windows Vista Home Premium machine and used Skype to video chat with my girlfriend while she was in Eastern Europe. She was quite happy with the resulting video quality. The integrated microphone is also a bonus.

  This is the best value for the price that I have found online. The auto light settings for variable light conditions are very good and the video quality is great, for the price. The one drawback is that there is no clip attachment for those of us who would like to attach it to a monitor or something else, rather than set it on a shelf. All in all, though, very good.
