  • Too expensive at $19.99, wait for a sale

    By A2AMTEB5UZEOXE on 2006-09-10
The idea behind the stuff packs is great but Maxis is going to have to work on the particulars for the packs to be a success. The artwork is lovely, the furniture very sleek and the outfits are great. However $19.99 is too much for my budget when this stuff pack only includes 60 items. Same as Family Fun I'm waiting until Glamour drops to $10-12.

Although the clothes for the adults are really nice I think it would have been good to add dressy clothes for elders and children too. The artwork is beautiful but it would have been a plus to have more from different eras. Same as the furniture. Glamour is more than just Art Deco. If they had included more styles in furniture and artwork I would have bought this immediately.

If Maxis really wants to compete with the custom content on fan sites they're going to have to increase the amount of stuff included in a pack or lower the price. There are many fan sites that have beautiful high quality custom content for free. Maxis is going to have to set the bar a little higher to grab my attention at the price they're asking.

  • It;s nice, but...

    By A10M38EUJXZ4LA on 2006-10-13
Downloading objects from fan sites can be hit or miss -- I have had many collections I've downloaded work incorrectly or not work at all in the next expansion pack, and items I really liked were suddenly unavailable. So, I was looking forward to a "Stuff" pack from Maxis.

Bah. Yes, there are several very nice items, but really, this is an underwhelming collection on the whole. Items are very limited and the collections are small. The pictures you see on the cover are a good portion of what is contained. Like so many here remarked, the money spent is not equal to the value received. Another reviewer pointed out what the title "Glamour Life" implies -- jewelry, house items, luxurious textures for floors and walls, and clothing for all ages, and most of all, excess and abundance. There's no abundance here. I've found items I like, but I am not impressed with the collection.

Maxis knows that its target audience is always hungry for new items, and I think it is taking advantage of the fact, fooling us into thinking we are getting much more than we actually recieve for our money. I feel a little cheated. If you must have this, wait until the price drops, or -- better yet -- find a good, reputable fan site (there are some very good ones out there that have safe downloads) and download for a small fee or for free.

  • I wasn't expecting much and I was still disappointed

    By A15H8F6XIWBLAL on 2006-09-20
$19.99 is too much to pay for what is included. Now that I think about it, 60 pieces isn't much to go around. I was expecting to find more new clothing (there's no new swim or athletic clothing, no new tops or pants, just full-set stuff under everyday and formal). I was expecting items/furniture across all categories (not even close). It also seems like very little in the way of new building materials. I won't buy this sort of expansion pack again, just the functionality expansions. This is just money-grubbing on the part of EA.

  • Better for collecting than playing.

    By A2OTMUVI729PO6 on 2006-09-11
This new set (a complete living room and bedroom with a few new outfits) hints at what fans have been asking for without expending any extra energy. The new pieces are nice, with reflectivity effects that liven up the rooms, but don't fit in well with the style of the base game and the expansions (the issue mentioned in another review with the sofa isn't correct--the chairs can be connected like kitchen counters to make long sofas as in Nightlife).

For anyone who is making a collection this is a nice addition. If you have a choice between this and a marked down expansion pack--get the expansion instead. If anything the stuff packs appear to be an experiment in marketing rather than a thoughtful addition to the objects and outfits (which are classified oddly--most of them are for formal wear only and cannot be used as everyday clothes). The TV that was a free download when purchased from Bestbuy feels like it should've been left in the pack--it fits in too well to have removed it as an incentive.

Personally, I would rather they either put out more stuff packs (one a month with the same amount of content) or just save the content for the expansions (since Pets is rumored to have no new clothes and no emphasis on new objects).

  • Beautiful furniture ,and art decor for sims homes.

    By AF03A958JD9GO on 2006-09-03
A first I wasn't to keen on it felt a bit ripped off. I have since gotten into the objects and really like them now. I wasn't to keen on the fur coat addition and clothing. I thought they could of used some "fancy" clothing for the kids in it. The art decor is beautiful and the new furniture, wall coverings, and floor. Excellent job thanks maxis for all these cool packs you keep making , I'll always buy sims til the day there is no more sims stuff. Overall I really like this stuff pack and can't wait to see the pets.

  • A waste of money.
    By ACNO7DKBIQM3H on 2006-09-18
Some of the Sims 2 expansion packs add tons of new features, new jobs, new stuff to do. This is definatly not one of those expansions. For your money you get some new outfits, some new items to buy and thats about it. Not only that but many people (myself included) are having a lot of problems with Sims 2 after installing this expansion. I ended up having to uninstall it just to be able to play Sims 2. If you want to get a bunch of new clothes and items you're better off to go online and just download some of the tons of great player made items.

  • Cool items but ....
    By A29M09QBG9TZLP on 2007-02-08
I liked the items that were added to my Sims 2 from this 'Glamour Life Stuff' but, as many reviewers mentioned what you see on the cover of this 'expansion' is basically the only new items your Sims will get. Overall, some nice items here, but not worth the money in my opinion.

  • Where's the couch??
    By A2B2KGGX9YOPL0 on 2006-09-10
I'm still not impressed, even though my Sims have a new couch (after a reviewer, thankfully, clued us all in on the fact that the new chair is actually a piece of sectional sofa. So when you go looking for the couch in Buy mode, just look for the living room chair icon.) What doesn't impress me is the price for this new 'stuff'. It should have been a little bit cheaper.

In this add-on, you get a few pieces of furniture, some lamps, a couple rugs and paintings, new mirrors, some sculptures, a new very small vase, a new "old" stereo, some new clothes (mostly formal and new pj's..love the new silk pj's), one new women's hairdo, and some wallpaper/flooring/etc. You also get a couple of new pre-fab houses in build mode, Forsythe Place and a one bedroom loft. After playing around with the new stuff for several hours, and adding the new house & loft to the neighborhoods, I am glad I bought this add-on but still feel its priced too high. I love the new house, Forsythe Place, but wish a garage had been included in the design.

Maxis must've been in a rush to get this on the market too. The manual has an obvious error. It refers to the neighborhood 'Pleasantview' as 'Pleasantville'. Goes to show there wasn't much thought put into this product before release.

It does fix old glitches, which I'm happy about, and I like the new loading screen music. And there are other subtle changes that were made to the game as well (slightly altering the original once this is installed), some of which I don't like.

Overall, I am glad I got it, but would've been much happier spending less for it.

  • Overpriced and Not Very Worth It
    By A1SNKXK0IGFS9E on 2006-11-10
You get a few outfits and some new furniture but not a lot. With all of the free stuff out there to download for The Sims, the Stuff Pack is not very worth it. Maxi is just milking the franchise for every penny.

  • RIp Off!
    By A3AOA1B2EIUWG8 on 2006-10-08
If I could give it negative 3 stars I would. This is just EA being Greedy. They could have offered it for free on the website like they did with the stuff before or they could have included it with the next expansion pack. You're better off going to one the fan site that offers better stuff to download for free.

  • Where's the glamour?
    By ASDU4NIG4LGW8 on 2006-10-11
This pack offered very little of anything. The decor (very little of it) is uninspired. I was hoping to get some good artwork at least. I know a lot of people don't like to download from fan sites but don't waste your money on this junk. Believe me fansites have much better and more creative stuff for your sims and most of it is free, and none of it cost as much as this glamour life stuff pack did. This is the first and last stuff pack that I will ever buy.

  • Sims2 Overall rating
    By ACY9KECDWZN12 on 2006-11-09
The continuation of the Sims2 game renews the fun for me with every expansion pack. The smaller expansions in between the big ones, ie. Glamour life stuff and/or Holiday mini-pack are good in my book because I get tired of the same decor and clothing after a while. It's nice to get fresh things. Although, EA could just bundle those small expansions in with one of the bigger ones like Sims2 Nightlife or Sims2 Pets, for examples.
Regardless, I still love the Sims2 and I look forward to more enhancements in the future. :)

  • too little, too much
    By A2TXKCS4PZGAGZ on 2006-12-03
Not enough items for the price. The furniture is spectacular, but then again, it is not enough especially if you're a die hard decorator like me. If you don't download objects/items at all from the web, get a used copy of this so the price is semi-fair.

  • Like the game but I am experiencing problems!
    By on 2006-09-17
I'm not sure if anybody else has this experience but when I downloaded that expansion pack and started playing it, it was terrific until I started building my new house. When I chose the wall tool and drug along walls to make my rooms the walls were flashing red over and over. Plus the walls in the create a family room was doing the same thing. If anybody else has any experience in that and knows how to get rid of that please add that to your next review. It would really help me in knowing that my $21.35 didn't go to waste!!!

  • To expensive...... not worth it......... don't buy it
    By on 2006-11-03
When I first looked at this game I thought it would be a cool glamour stuff pack for my sims. It would have all the cool clothes and stuff that i loved from the sims superstar expansion pack. (I didn't expect the whole Studio town just the clothes, well more and better ones, and the really cool item like the Aquarium. EA and Maxis should make something like that for the Sims 2

  • Wonderful Addition To The Sims 2!
    By on 2007-03-02
The Glamour Life expansion pack is just a treat! This "stuff" pack is a great add-on, especially for those of us that are too skeptical to download items from the web. The pack comes with great furniture and clothing options that are inspired from the (in my opinion) greatest era ever for furniture; Art Deco! One thing too keep in mind is that while most of the wall coverings are lovley there are some very hideous ones too. The last thing is that if modern style isn't your taste (for you or your sims alike) then I wouldn' reccomend this to you, but I love it!

  • Better than Family Fun, but not by much. Still too pricey!
    By A3Q5QOWMVPTAN2 on 2006-10-05
I should have learned my lesson from the Family Fun Pack. The Sims2 fan in me just had to have everything though (for some reason I resisted the Holiday pack...).

    Pros
-Some nice new items. I liked the new stereo, as well as some of the new decorations. Some of the new clothing looks cool too. I've found more of the new items useful than those from Family Fun Pack.

    Cons
-Price! $19.99 for these few new items? The additions in this pack are not worth more than $5.00 (maybe less)!
-Some of the new items weren't worth a dime! Though some of the new clothing may look good, most of it I would never select for one of my Sims.

    In Summary:
The term "Glamour Life" has a number of implications behind it. A new type of car would have been nice (or at least more color options on the existing ones). New party items, some sort of nod toward jewelry, and other pricey items would have been nice as well. So much more could have been done with that theme! What this pack gives you though, is a major disappointment. The price doubles the disappointment. If you can live without it, wait until it hits the bargain bins. Hopefully the Pets Expansion will make up for this disappointment.

  • Where are the items
    By A1BKRIHK9907AD on 2006-11-09
I noticed there were not many new items in this game, I found this the advertising for this game to be deceiving. This expansion ws not worth the money.

  • AWESOME
    By on 2006-11-19
This game was so awesome and fun now I can't stop playing it. The moment I started playing it even better than the origanial Sims 2. Glamour for life totally made a diffrence in the game. Now I still can't stop playing it. All the new clothing and furniter completly changed the game for me and I think this exspantion pack deserves a 5 star score.

  • EXCELLENT!!!
    By A15ERRQSPBM7D9 on 2007-02-18
I bought this for my daughter and this is what she had to say about Glamour Life Stuff: "This is the expansion pak that you need if you want to spice up your wardrobe with a little glamour! It includes clothes for your young Sims as well as the older ones with A LOT more clothes for the toddlers. (I LOVE those Swedish Dreams silk p.j.'s!!!) It has elegant home accents to enhance your environment bar and the guide book includes Fashion Do's and Dont's". This is a MUST for every Sims fanatic!!!"

  • okay i guess
    By A1G7AGGVWCQ0ZN on 2007-04-15
I was sorta hoping for more clothes and furniture. I mean the stuff is good but it could have been more glamorus. Like I was hoping for a bed with a canopy and things like that. But other than that this is a great game if you like the little things that make a house glamorous. The Sims 2 Glamour Life Stuff

  • Not bad for a stuff pack
    By A1T91W2C91VL4K on 2007-05-06
EA stuff packs tend to be over-priced. This one does have some nice clothing and furniture meshes. It's worth getting, but better if you can get it on sale.

  • One of the better Stuff packs...
    By AWVQR7YYTYJ1L on 2008-01-15
Stuff packs are designed as two things: #1) A cash grab for Maxis and #2) to add more items (no gameplay) to The Sims games in between expansion packs. They're a good idea in theory but often they rely on adding tons of lesser things like clothing and wallpaper/floors instead of things that Simmers clamour for - new hairstyles, edible food, and furniture.

Glamour Life is one of the better Stuff packs out there in that it does include a lot of new, nice furniture. There are a couple of main sets - a bedroom and a dining area that are in a similar art deco wood style. Aside from that there is also a huge number of decorations and accessories ranging from an elaborate chandelier to an Egyptian wall mural. The main colour schemes for both the furniture and the associated decor (floors/walls/accessories) are a few shades of wood (mahogany, orange, and pale blonde) as well as some marble (green, black, white) to add a bit of decadence to your home.

In terms of clothing, the game really only adds formal wear - tons of nice new things for the adult male and females but not much for the other ages. There are a couple of new regular outfits as well (fur coats and suits for the ladies for example) and silk PJs for the adults. There aren't very many new hairstyles or other 'looks' features.

Overall I think this is one of the better stuff packs because the theme is not as specific as other packs - you'll use the furniture a lot more than the items found in teen or family stuff because they aren't related to children/teens - they can be used lifelong. I've found myself using them a lot and am glad I own this pack, even if the initial price is a bit steep.

  • No new Kitchen Stuff - kidding right?
    By A2SPX458WUI0D4 on 2006-11-06
No, it's not a joke. This is the first expansion pack I've bought for Sims 2, and that was my first thought as I was trying to find all the new stuff it adds. It does add some nice things, mostly couches, chairs, art, tables, beds and clothes. and some new colors of shag carpeting which are awesome. I also like the new dresses, and the dressers. The original Sims 2 just offers those space guzzling amoires. Another addition you'll see is you can now influence people to do things

It made my game immediately run slower then before, but I'm sure it's nothing that cleaning my hard drive won't cure.

As other reivewers have suggested it's a nice pack, but overpriced right now.

  • Not worth the money
    By A3OROVQLY9T6YC on 2007-03-06
I love playing the sims 2, and wanted to add more objects to my game so I got this expansion to add to my game. Well, I paid 20.00 dollars for it at walmart I do like the fur coats for Ladies and some other objects but I wish there were more objects, for the money maybe they will put more on a new expansion pack. I hope

  • glamour life fun
    By AHW135V7CK8T5 on 2007-03-09
Even though this game does not have a lot of new things, it is a lot of fun especially the fur coats I can dress my sims in. The new furniture is very nice and overall I am very pleased.

  • glamour life stuff
    By A18SYHSAX3SZQD on 2007-04-02
nice new formals. beats those ugly ones you got with the original sims2!
now if we only got to pick our shoes and jewelry...

  • Doggies and Cats and Sims .... Oh My!
    By A3PQCVNWAKK08X on 2006-11-09
I have all the Sims and Sim's 2 products and each one is more fun and more involving than the last! The addition of pets and the abilities to create custom pets is very amusing and it adds a whole new dimension to the game. The new items that are included in the Glamour Life expansion set are great additions to the game as well.

  • Great add-on for The Sims 2
    By A2O549Y29HERF4 on 2006-11-11
This is definately a great add-on for The Sims 2. It adds some really cool clothes and furniture that your sims are sure to love.

  • Misled and disappointed!
    By A3VK378HIVPDW7 on 2007-01-08
First off, having heard of the Sims, but never having played it, I came across the Glamour Life Stuff game in Target. It looked like tons of fun and really girly so I bought it. When I got it home to play it, I realized I had to first buy The Sims 2 platform and that the game I had was an add-on. I was pretty disappointed by that, but I went ahead and ordered the game brand new off Amazon and had to wait 2 weeks for it to arrive. When it arrived, my husband shoved me out of the way to play, but immediately tired of it after 10 min. He wanted to create a character in his likeness, but was put off by how time-consuming and complex that process was. That was good for me because then I got to sit down and play it. It was neat at first and I liked being able to make mistakes and not have the game automatically saved. After a week of playing the original platform, I then added the Glamour Life expansion and was disappointed. There were only a handful of new "items" to choose from and I felt like I was cheated (especially since this game was the only reason I bought Sims 2 to begin with). I now see that they have other expansions such as Pets. I think EA should just put one platform out with all the options with it instead of making people spend $20 so they can have a pet. And who are these people that buy this? I bought the Glamour Life version because I thought that it was its own game, not an add-on. I feel ripped off and want to make sure other people don't waste their money like I did. Oh, and by the way....I am now (after two weeks) bored with Sims 2. It must be for younger audiences (although I am only 26). I feel like real life is much more interesting than this game.
