Really cute block set! By A1WUPF0L9YH9JL on 2006-10-04
I got this alphabet block set for my 16-month old daughter (even though the suggested age is 2+). She enjoys nesting toys in general, so I knew she'd like these. She also likes stacking the blocks up, and then knocking them over. When all stacked together, the blocks stand taller than her (she's about 31 inches). I'm sure when she gets older, she'll be able to use this toy to help her with learning the alphabet. Right now, it's all about the stacking and nesting. These blocks are very colorful and I'm sure she'll use them for a long time! Melissa & Doug did a great job with this one! These are different than other blocks - and the only storage space needed is for the largest block - all of them fit inside!
Great and easy stacking blocks By A2SRQ9TLXZKRR7 on 2007-01-09
My son is 21 months and I wanted to get him something big enough for him to build tall. On Christmas morning I stacked them and put them next to the tree and they were the first gift he went to. These are great because they fit into the case and then are very easy to store. And the blocks have the alphabet listed on them so its fun to teach them what block goes next. They are very colorful and fun. The only downside for us is he tries to climb on them and if they are on their sides they cave in and he falls. I actually have them away right now so he doesnt ruin them. My sons climbs on everything!!
Fun Toddler Toy By AMDDPJASEYDBF on 2007-11-20
My daughter has enjoyed this cardboard block set. She enjoys the blocks because they stack tall, unlike her smaller plastic building blocks, which do not stand well on the carpeting. She often builds up the blocks, knocks them over, and starts over again.
She does not care about the pictures on the blocks, but she recognizes the letters, which are all written uppercase. Some of the blocks are difficult for a toddler to associate the picture with the letter (e.g. a rabbit with a rose for the letter "R," but most toddlers would see a bunny with a flower).
I have used the blocks for other games, such as "Memory" by hiding smaller objects (such a sock or paper) under the blocks and asking her to remember which object is under which block.
I would recommend this product for children aged two-years and older. The cardboard blocks could easily be damaged by a younger child, rendering the blocks unstackable.
Not the typical M&D quality By A3SDW82H8PVI3S on 2008-08-06
We received these blocks as a gift about two weeks ago and we've already had to throw some blocks away. First of all, if your child chews on things, this is not the toy for you. My son has easily gnawed off bits of the blocks. Also, if the blocks are stepped on... they're not stong enough to withstand the weight entirely, but they are solid enough to hurt your childs feet. The outer covering also started peeling away on the top of the blocks. Bummer...
Great for Kids By A15IJHOEQ87VY2 on 2007-01-10
I bought this as a present for my neice. She loved them. There is something about stacking boxes and knocking them over that they love! The boxes seem sturdy and look like they will last for a while.
- Great Blocks with Wonderful Graphics
     By APXL1K9I0ESKJ on 2007-01-10
These blocks very colorful and keep my daughters attention with the funny graphics. They are very well made, but I still wonder why blocks like this are made of cardboard. That is the only reason I gave them a 4 and not a 5. I have a feeling if my daughter were to step on them, they would get crushed.
- Feet of fun in one little box!
     By A20V969WTHPG4O on 2007-01-12
The Alphabet Nesting and Stacking Blocks are great! Not only does it teach children about sizes and space recognition it helps them learn their ABC's. Educational and fun these blocks have provided lots of fun for my 2 year old. The only downside is that they are made of paper not wood - which is perfectly clear in the description. So, if you have a child that chews on things you should watch him/her carefully so they don't eat the blocks while playing! ;)

My 14-month-old Twins love stacking and knocking down these Blocks. They are so colorful and fun!
- nice product

product just as promised, kids love it. Quite durable. Will last a long time.
- Ooodles of fun - captiavates my son!
     By A3PKOHTV40BUCN on 2007-07-03
My son, 16 months, is captivated by these stacking boxes. Plays with them almost every day and even took them on a long road trip with us so he would have them at our destination for a fun memorable toy from home. You can hide plastic eggs or toy cars etc under 1 of 3 boxes and play "find the toy", or several other games. Love these. Would definitely buy again!
- endless fun for toddlers
     By A24KAFVYQUPIG8 on 2007-07-12
My son is 16 months old and has adored these since he got them for his first birthday. Even though they are made from cardboard, they are extremely durable, and the carrying case the blocks nest into is genius! My son picks the box up and brings it to me to open at least 10 times a day. Lots of fun for not much money.
- Daughter loves them, but I wish they were more durable
     By A1M78KAGFS6HID on 2007-08-06
My daughter started using these when she was almost 14 months old. She enjoyed playing with nesting cups, so we were sure she would love this. I wish, however, that these blocks were more durable. After only 2 weeks of play, the bottom edges of the blocks are starting to get worn and the bottom pictures are starting to come off.
- Great product for one or two children.
     By AIEH3QK6CH0Z4 on 2007-08-22
We really like the bright colors of this product. I like how they nest inside of each other. I don't think that they would stand up to several kids playing with them. They are made out of heavy cardboard and would be easily destroyed. We only have one child, so they are perfect for him.
- Great Toy!
     By A7RJ3VX0PCJXQ on 2007-09-28
We got two sets of these blocks for our 16 month old twins and they love them. Stack them up, knock them over, nest them, chew on them (they're holding up to the chewing pretty well so far) and since there are many pieces, they don't fight over them much. A great toy at a great price. And they all nest away into a cute box when the kids aren't playing with them which is nice.
- Great Fun and Educational, Low Durability
     By A2F49BZVE9DF3C on 2007-10-11
My girls, 3 and 18 months, have honed their patience, fine motor, and teamwork skills with this wonderful toy. I've taught them how to take turns adding blocks to their tower and how to take turns knocking it down (this took a little while!). Never the less they play with it all the time. Great for me as we're having our third and any toy that they can play with together is a bonus. My only problem with it is it's durability as the blocks are made out of cardboard and won't stand up to rough play or being stepped on (as my 3 year old likes to do). Also, it won't teach your children the alphabet but it is good exposure. All and all though this is a great toy.
- A HUGE hit! Perfect for your busy one year old!
     By AE7MO1SL2EVC5 on 2007-11-15
I have a BUSY one year old little boy and was looking for something to keep him entertained for longer than 2 minutes, which is a challenge these days! He loves to fill, dump, and stack but the stacking cups he had were hard to stack and didn't fill to his satisfaction either. He either got bored or frustrated within the first 2 minutes of playing with them. Enter M&D Alphabet Nesting and Stacking Blocks! These are the perfect stacking block! They are made from a strong, durable cardboard with a wipeable surface and are so colorful with pictures, numbers and letters on each block. The variety of sizes is perfect for a little guy (or gal) who enjoys filling, dumping and stacking. They stack to about 3 feet high which is a big thrill for a little one and they fit inside each other too, adding to the fun! And they don't take up a lot of room in the toy box. We couldn't be happier with these! I can see them NOT lasting more than a year with a brother who likes to sit on them, climb on them and fill them with water but for the price, we'll just get another set!
- Well designed, worthy of Melissa & Doug name
     By A29VS2CCWXHZY4 on 2007-11-18
Here's an example of a well designed toy. Simple though it may be, each block is sufficiently smaller than than the previous block so my 14 month old can stack them without the frustration of them falling over. As with all stacking cups, etc, they nest into a relatively small size. And for paperboard construction, it's surprisingly durable. She loves to knock the tower over and she's gnawed on a couple of them but the blocks are still in great shape.
- Great Toy!
     By A25IOVB8YNYDQN on 2007-12-26
I bought this for my granddaughter's second birthday. She loves it! She played with it and had lots of fun. She needed a little help building a tall building & then loved knocking it down. She knows 2 letters by sight and she looked to find them. I think this will be a well used toy for the next few years. It is also nice that it takes very little space when nested. I highly recommend this toy.
- Great stacking blocks ...
     By A2CG8L6CNH1X8E on 2007-12-28
My 2-year old son got these for Christmas and they are a favorite of his. They are very durable and are lots of fun! You can stack them up and make a tower; hide things under them; and they all stack inside each other for easy storage. They are very colorful and have letters. This is one of those very simple toys that can go a long way in providing hours of fun. I would highly recommend this if you are looking for a nice nesting block set.
- Mom loves this toy!
     By A2L9T85BSSH8NO on 2008-01-07
My 18-month-old twins are into stacking and (knocking down) anything they can get their hands on, so this seemed like a good idea. My daughter loves the alphabet letters and cute animal designs. My son likes to alternately stack and then nest the blocks as quickly as possible. When I received my blocks, some of them seemed to have warped a little in transit. I had to stretch and bend a few of them back into place so they will nest without too much struggling.
- She loves it!
     By A15WSPYNHTTH0G on 2008-01-16
My daughter got this when she was 13 months old. Although the educational value of the alphabet and the corresponding pictures aren't really being used yet, she loves them. Of course she loves the stacking because she gets to knock them down but she also likes to concentrate on putting the blocks into each other so the nesting is a big hit too. It also takes up very little room which is not something I can say about most of her favorite toys.
- fun for now.
     By A1A62O8YG98X0I on 2008-01-18
my 6 month old loves when i stack these blocks and she knocks them down. they give us the alphabet to talk about, and something for her to gnaw on. they are a fantastic toy for now...we will have to see how they hold up over time, though.
- Two-year old loves it
     By A19QATYF5DNF7M on 2008-01-21
It's as much fun to stack them and knock them over as it is to nest them, put them away, and carry them. Downsides: One of them came slightly warped so nesting blocks is challenging. Also, a few of them are starting to show wear after less than one month.
- I had to bring it back...
     By A1U7R2ITCQWJN3 on 2008-02-09
I don't think that this is a bad toy. It just was not the right toy for my almost 2 year old daughter. She loved stacking the blocks... but if she stacked them out of order, and one "nested" with another, she got very upset with the toy. So I had to help her pick which ones were next, which is fine except that I can't be there helping her at every moment. Oh and she was not interested in nesting the blocks at all. So to avoid frustration I brought it back. Still gave it 3 stars because it is really cute, and I am sure lots of kids would love it. Just not mine :)
- A great buy
     By A3H5OVJBIEX0K2 on 2008-02-17
My daughter is 2 and loves these. She is getting good at recognizing big and small and putting the correct block on the stack. Then as most 2 year olds would, she loves to walk into them and knock em over!! They're made of very thick cardboard and are very durable, just try not to let your child sit on them, they may weaken from that. My daughter likes to sit on things, ours are still fine, I'm just trying to teach her not to do that anymore!
- GREAT!!!!!
     By AU61FFBC51EB3 on 2008-04-05
This is truely a great toy for kids that like to stack. My son loves to stack and push this over, he does it all day. There are so many animals, letters, and colors on them it gives me a chance to teach him at the same time. This is great for teaching words.
- Cute but sort of flimsy
     By A366507J2S5GR7 on 2008-04-15
These are not as sturdy as I'd hoped. The rigidity is comparable to a high-end matte shoe box - I think a really rough toddler could easily destroy them. They would never survive being accidentally stepped on by an adult, either. So far, however, they are holding up ok. The colors and designs are very vibrant. My 2 year old enjoys them on occasion, but moves on quickly.
- Great learning toy poor quality
     By A1Q5JHS8RXHNT4 on 2008-05-08
My daughter loves these blocks, but they are not for the chewer. Because they are made of cardboard the corners are all ruined from her chewing. Also, some of the blocks glue came loose and the tops of the blocks (where the picture of the stars are) all unglued, I have to keep taking them away and using elmers glue to reattach them.
- Stacking blocks
     By A30GM9CKEH2W42 on 2008-05-11
These blocks are very cute, and my daughter loves playing with them. She is learning to stack and build. However, they are just made of cardboard and so they aren't very durable. We've only had them a few weeks and already one of them is ripped along the edge, and she has also chewed off a couple of corners. So if you're wanting a toy that will last through multiple children this is probably not it. They are cute though, and not a bad price,
- Good in theory
     By on 2008-06-30
I bought this for my two year old daughter for Christmas. I just knew she would love it. I was wrong. She played with it for about 5 minutes, and hasn't touched it again since December. My four old tried to play with it, but the blocks are not made out of the most durable material.
