  • Half-way what I wanted.

    By A2QL68SNP2ZPH1 on 2007-01-15
I was one of the unfortunate crowd who got the new MacBook with defective plastic. The hand-rest area turned a strange reddish-brown, and no, it wasn't because we weren't washing our hands. Apple recognizes the problem and replaces the cases for all MacBooks in a certain serial number set.

Anyway, after this unfortunate experience, I was paranoid about keeping my computer shiny and new-looking. I bought the Marware Protection pack, and have had it a couple months now. It fits great, covers just the area I wanted, and surprisingly even feels much nicer to the touch than just the computer plastic. A little padding apparently goes a long way. The grey microfiber "keyboard" protector does the job fine, and doubles as a screen cleaner.

The downside is that the hand-rest cover doesn't want to stay stuck. I didn't want something that I wouldn't be able to remove, but it looks pretty stupid with the corners peeling up all the time. And no, just pressing them down again doesn't work, they pop up again within seconds. Also, the cover collects dirt and needs to be cleaned occasionally. I'm not sure which is more lame--having a slightly dirty computer or having a dirty protector. I'm considering removing the darn thing and just dealing with a less-than-pristine computer case.

  • I bought the Marware Protection Pack to Prevent it From Getting Dirty

    By A2Y83FO1EJMCXF on 2007-03-01
This is one of the most frustrating things that has happened to me. So I bought my MacBook a week ago and to go a long with it I bought the Marware Protection Pack.

The purpose I bought the cover for was to protect my notebook, however the hand rest cover has RUINED my notebook.

There is a sticky residue that is left behind when I peeled back the hand rest today. It is all over the hand rest portion of my laptop.

Keep in mind that it has been a week.

I am irritated and upset that Marware has sold me such a negligible product.

  • So far so good

    By A2I9LWM2C7BRBY on 2006-12-13
I bought this for my new white Macbook Core 2 Duo cuz I'd read about the discoloration issue where the wrists rest. Application was simple enough, and it does reapply easily without residue if you don't get it placed right the first time. The edges of the new Macbook are quite sharp in my opinion, and I find the the extra cushioning really helps.

I have read on the Marware site about the edges rolling up after awhile, but you just press them back down again. I suspect I'll have that issue after awhile.

The keyboard cloth is soft enough to not scratch up the beautiful glossy screens when you wipe off any smudges, which I've already done (lightly at first).

It looks good, just ignore the Marware logo on the upper left. And it doesn't interfere with closing the notebook.

Nov 29, 2007 - Well it's been a year, and the protector is still on. It gets bubbles under it every once in awhile, but you just smooth them out and it's fine. It's a little worn and discolored, but I lifted the edge and the Mac edges look fine. I really like having that supersoft cloth to keep my screen clean.

  • Marware Protection Pack 13" MacBook White

    By AIICO5VUKDXJG on 2007-01-08
This is an excellent product and is just what I wanted. The micro-leather cover for the palm rests is comfortable and although it has become somewhat discolored, my MacBook hasn't. The keyboard cover keeps all the grit and grim off the screen and serves as an excellent screen cleaner.

  • palm pad keeps peeling

    By A7SQFFI4RPVA2 on 2007-01-18
The left palm pad keep peeling, possibly from the uneven heat.
This make the protection pad a lot less useful than one would
think, which is most people buy this pack for

  • Good product
    By A274W8RW2QCVE3 on 2007-02-24
I haven't yet had the problem of this peeling off, but I'm only at about 30 days of use. Overall, it's a good product and I'm satisfied.

  • Less satisfaction as time goes by
    By A1DYL3R9ETYF2Y on 2007-03-15
I agree that there are problems of peeling and dirt collection of the hand cushion, though not too bad to stand for. Currently I stuck two white index cards on each side of the cushion, so that the peeling and dirt problems are solved as you change the cards periodically... But what's the difference from making some changable protector yourself?

  • Damaged refurbished product
    By A2RHHJ37WA1B90 on 2007-05-21
I got my laptop only to find out that the keyboard didn't work and I had to take it in to apple and get it repaired when I needed it for work. Not cool selling products that are still damaged as repaired.

After a few months of use, the keyboard area was really showing signs of wear that were not washing off. This covers them up nicely and looks good to boot. The advertised "padding" is not much to speak of, but it does make for a nicer surface texture as I rest my hands. The pad itself seems to scratch and stain easily -- but thankfully the scratch and stain are now on the pad and not my computer, so I suppose the pad is doing its job. I also don't care for the giant MARWARE logo, and the keyboard shammy is rarely found in its intended place, since has to be removed a placed... somewhere in order to use the keyboard. Still, I am glad to have this product and hope that it lasts.

  • Effective, but could be improved
    By AYLTF6VZDTNGL on 2007-12-13
I purchased Marware's MacBook Protection pack predominantly because I did not want my watch to scratch my new laptop. Additionally, because I have a bit of a dirty job, I wanted to protect the macbook from getting dirty.

Two months later, and the product does what it is intended to do. It seemingly protects the macbook from damage. I have not removed the adhesive, which Marware claims to be reusable, but I have some doubts about that. It looks like the adhesive is one-time-use-only. The screen protector is just a cloth. The cloth is easily replaceable by Endust wipes. In other words, I suspect it should not be a factor in your purchasing decision.

The keyboard protector does gather dirt. However, it is easier to clean than the notebook plastic.

Marware recommends, in its packaging, not to mix and match its keyboard protectors, by which I mean that one should not use the black protectors on the white MacBooks and vice versa. I think that's probably a flaw, as the black protector would be better to hide dirt/grime/etc. In the future, other colors should be explored as well.

  • Good but not Excellent
    By A1FA2DUUDPRRAL on 2007-01-03
It's good but not great because it doesn't look very nice and gets dirty very easy.

  • Good accesory
    By A1J6QSJX0TM65G on 2007-01-03
It protects the hand rest area. I would like it to protect the built in mouse button because it gets dirty with use.

  • Marware works great for me.
    By AQ13V9L26T6QJ on 2007-06-25
I love this product. I was so paranoid about my Macbook getting discolored that I ordered this even before I got my computer. I put it on first thing and have had absolutely no problems. It has been a year now so I can safely say that the product works as advertised. I was very careful about applying it the first time so that I did not keep peeling it off and sticking it down again. Perhaps that is why people have had problems with it losing its "stickiness". I have not taken it off yet (why would you?) so I cannot say how things are underneath. The pad is soft to the touch and sure beats having a permanently discolored laptop. Especially if you might resell yours in the future. Thumbs up.

  • Must have product.
    By A2U1CMEGA3950K on 2007-08-27
Without it... your faceplate on the mac will become gray and worn from where you rest your palms. Just be sure to clean the faceplate before you apply it or it may not stick well. With it on, I know that once it becomes worn I can take it off and have a clean faceplate.

  • Sort of useful
    By A3JR735LS372L8 on 2007-09-18
The screen cleaner does a great job, but I don't really understand the point of the palm sticker thing. I guess it makes the surface softer on my hands?

I bought this as part of a deal with the Marware sleeve case, which is nice.

  • Great product!

Installed this product on my 13" Macbook. Love it. The little keyboard rug also helps to keep my screen free of keyboard marks.

  • Marware Protection Pack for my 13" White MacBook is great!
    By A2RELAL0E850Z on 2007-12-17
I recently got the newest MacBook released in November 2007, and I wanted to make sure I could keep it in the best possible condition. So I immediately made sure I got one of the Marware Protection Packs so I could stylishly cover the wrist rest area which has been plagued on previous models as discoloring sometimes or having the edges peel. Even though the problem has been said to be fixed, I wanted to make sure I was covered with extra protection. The wrist pad even adds a bit of extra comfort instead of resting your hands and wrist directly onto the hard ABS/Plastic casing. The added "keyboard cover" which is made of microfiber also doubles as a screen cleaner, which is my sole use for it as I also purchased a nice iSkin keyboard protector as well to keep hair and dust from entering the inside of the case.

  • excellent for preventing discoloring
    By AYJ32P6AXWTEU on 2008-01-27
excellent if u want to prevent discoloring or getting ur macbook dirty
i had to get used to typing with my hands in the air now i can type with freedom putting my hands on the hand rest

  • Good Product
    By AFPA7I4PHQWS8 on 2008-02-08
Great products, I spent so much money on my MacBook, I didnt want anything to mess it up, so this is definitely helping with that. I haven't tried to peel the sticker/pad off yet, so I can't say anything about it's removal but it was easy to apply, and the keyboard cover/screen cleaner is nice. Won't remove fingerprints, but will gently remove dust.
    Good product, good price.

  • I love Goo Gone
    By A9Q7KWUNL84XK on 2008-02-21
I bought this protection pack when I got my white MacBook. On my old Powerbook G4, I had a big problem of the keys leaving imprints on the screen, so I was excited about the keyboard cover. I used it for about a month before I realized that it was leaving it's own imprint on the screen. Since I stopped using it, I have no problems with key imprints, so I wouldn't use it.

With the wrist pad, I used it for about 8 months before the little strips below and above the trackpad lost their adhesiveness, and it got so bad, I decided to remove the whole pad. I have heard many people say that they removed their pad after a month or two and had no remaining adhesive gunk left behind. This was not what I found. The entire pad left a think layer of gunk that took me about 4 hours and quarter bottle of Goo Gone to remove. I was going to buy a new pad to replace the first one, but after that, I will not be buying a new pad.

  • The only way to hide the stains
    By A20RVCCRBKFJ3T on 2008-05-04
I wish I hadn't had to buy this product, that my macbook's palm rest stayed white. But it didn't; actually it looks pretty disgusting. Which is why the marware product is awesome - it restored my macbook to respectability. I can be seen with it in public once again.
The palm rest cover fit perfectly and has stayed on well after two months. You can also take it off without any residue if you want. Best of all though, it covers up the discoloration.

  • Necessary item; Overpriced
    By A25K93BZ8GX9ZC on 2008-07-18
After watching my wife's MacBook's hand rest area discolor, I became determined to not allow this to happen again. So, when I ordered my new MacBook I ordered the Marware Protection Pack. A $20 investment seemed very reasonable to retain the cosmetic appearance and, therefore, resale value.

Pro: Soft vinyl-like material is, well, soft and vinyl-like. The keyboard cover/screen shammy is a brilliant idea. Transfer of oils from the keyboard to screen while the lid is closed isn't considered by the average end user.

Con: Price. It's evident when you receive the product that this is not a high-quality item. And, although it may be a reasonable price, it is about $10 too much. Apple consumers are stereotyped as willing to overpay for accessories. As with all stereotypes, there are some truths involved. That doesn't excuse the practice, though.

  • Marware Review
    By A1Y3MEG63YRETN on 2008-07-31
Great product. Provides protection for the computer and comfort for your wrists. My only criticism is I wish they would ship the product flat. The wrist piece comes folded and it takes a long time for the "wrinkle" from the fold to disappear.

  • its gud
    By ANQ364V7EUAV2 on 2008-09-11
Its very gud. You can protect your mac book from unwanted food stamps or any other such things, but i think it would be great if it would have a trackpad cover to protect the mouse tracking area aswell.

  • My hands are dirty
    By A11IHV8N5A8IC7 on 2008-11-02
It's a pad. It covers my computer and it comes with a rag. That covers my keyboard. It goes on easy, and albiet crooked. It shows how dirty your hands get and it's replacable every month or 2.
It says Marware on it. If thats good or bad, dunno. but it says it. So your stuck with a laptop that says marware. Which might be handy if someone steals your laptop.
