  I have other Acer monitors and love them all. This one is bright and clear just like the others. I did overlook the native resolution of 1400x900. 100% my fault. Be careful if you want to use its full capabilities. Many laptops don't go this high. I bought this to go with a laptop. My new Toshiba laptop only goes up to 1280x800. I had to back my laptop video down to 1024x768 to show the task bar. And, of course, everything is larger and there is less on the screen than if it was running at 1400x900. It appears many higher end desktop pc video cards have 1400x900 as a resolution selection. I'm mildly disappointed but I probably would have bought it anyway. An excellent value for the money. But if you want to use this for tasks where you can fit a maximum amount onto the screen, be sure your pc's video card has 1400x900 resolution as a selection.

  The monitor was a gift from my husband. It took some time getting used to the WIDE SCREEN thing. But other then that EVERY thing has been great with it. Great Colors and evreything!

  I bought this monitor for my two boy's computer this past Christmas, based on a couple of reviews---but mainly based on the price. Mostly I swear by Samsung flat panels and the Acer name is hardly the one I think of for top-drawer components....
  
  But the monitor beat all of my expectations. It features both impressive top resolution and good brightness/clarity. The cheap features are mostly the lack of extra utilities and adjustment in the base. It doesn't swivel or tilt or do height adjustment.
  
  Other than that, though, it's been a rock solid monitor.

  Another great product from Acer! I use to own an Acer Aspire laptop, which I recently sold to purchase my mac mini. I am using this monitor with the mac mini and I love it. I have had no problems and the quality is great.

  For $200, I guess it's pretty okay. It's bright and big, which is really all I thought I wanted. It isn't quite as sharp as I'd hoped, and no matter how hard I try I can't get the colors to match my MacBook display. I'm pretty picky though.
  
  But here's the real problem: Right out of the box, my monitor has a dead pixel. It isn't even off in the corner; it's right smack dab in the middle of the screen. The Acer website is pretty easy to navigate and I got a warentee ticket submitted right away, but now I have to send the monitor to Texas to get it fixed. Lame. Still, I can't say I wouldn't recommend this monitor to a friend who couldn't afford something a little bit nicer.
  
  
• Great monitor but make sure you have the correct video card

  There are many comments about how people can't get the correct 1440 x 900 aspect ratio with this monitor... but the problem is not with the monitor nor is it with the drivers. The problem is with their video card / adapter. Just make sure your video adapter allows you to view 1440 x 900 and this monitor will work great. It's a nice minotor with excellent resolution... HD stuff looks great on it and it's hard to beat the price.
  
  
• Pretty good but NO DVI

  This is a pretty good monitor, haven't noticed any backlighting issues and there were no dead pixels in the two I bought. Resolution is nice and the 5ms refresh rate means you can use it for games without any problem.
  
  The only problem I found is that this monitor doesn't have a DVI input. Although the description doesn't mention the monitor having one (which would have changed my rating to zero since it would have been a lie), its not something you look carefully at, as one would expect a 19W monitor to have a DVI input by default.
  
  You can buy an adapter for that, but it just feels like a blemish on an otherwise excellent product.

  This is not the quality I expected from Acer. It came with a bad pixel. Do not buy this model. Go for the AL1916WABD, thats the newer model to this that also comes with DVI port. 3 Stars because the monitor is great otherwise. The base could be sturdier but I don't see that as a problem because it won't topple over unless you really hit it hard. This would have been so great if it did not have that bad pixel. The auto adjust functions work well, even with games and movies.

  Right out of the box, no weird setup programs to load. Amazing clarity; it took a while to get used to having so much more room on my computer desktop side to side (its a widescreen monitor), but now I don't know how I ever did without it.
  
  Watching High def movie trailers on this screen is my new hobbie! Unbelievable!

  I could'nt believe the price!.. but when i got this monitor it was beautiful! My boyfriend loved it so much he bought one too. Being a part time photographer I noticed the clarity and vibrance right away! You know it cant be bad if the company "Ferrari" uses the same monitor brand. Nice and wide, clear as a bell. The only flaw I can see is it really doesnt swivel. But I swivel my chair instead.

• Unbelieveably Bad Color Reproduction

  Don't try and save money with this thing. Text is blurry, even with lots of fiddling color reproduction is horrid. Just a really bad monitor, worst I've used and I plug into a big monitor every where I travel with my laptop.
  
  
• Can't get it working with new laptop

  I have spent days tryng to get this working with my new laptop, and have had brush off from Acer.
  CDROM has feeble 'manual' but no driver, so you have to download it.
  So far I have a stretched 1024 by 768 picture, not a 1440 x 900 one.
  After Googling, I can see a lot of other people have the same problem.
  If you aren't absolutely sure it will work with your laptop - don't get it!

  I bought this LCD monitor for my adult son, to replace a CRT. He is very happy with the performance of the display, resolution, color, etc. A friend took a look at it and quickly bought one for himself because the performance/price is a great value. We can't comment yet on longevity, since we're only a few months into its service life. But so far, so good. If there are no issues a year from now, my 4 stars would go to 5.

  This is a very nice LCD monitor... good for playing 16:9 videos/DVDs or just general desktop work. Great image, great pircure, solid colors, no noticable pixel/dot. Just a great monitor at a great price.

  I love my new monitor. I have so much space on my desk now that I have a flat screen. It's lightweight, so I can move it easily. My husband did have to download a small program, so that the screen dimensions would be right. Other than that, I've had no problems with it so far.

  After having a 13 in. screen this absolutely great. Pictures look
  as if you could walk right into them the color and calarity of the pictures.
  Everything is so much clearer and does not hurt my eyes after use as ny older one did. Best investment I have made lately.

  This is a great monitor, and you can't beat the price! I have purchased three of these monitors now - one as a gift, one for home office and one for my public office. It has great color quality and clarity. It's compact enough to fit in a smaller office space, but you still get the larger, wide screen. It is plug and play. Just make sure you set your computer to the correct resolution, and you are good to go.

  The monitor arrived well packaged and in perfect condition. It was easy to set up, although I would have preferred a more comprehensive instruction manual. I have been using the monitor for approximately 3 months and have been extremely satisfied with it. The color is great, it's easy to adjust the settings. The widescreen took a little getting used to, but I am enjoying it very much. The graphics are clear and sharp. No dead pixels or distortion. I would recommend this monitor to my friends and family.

  I bought the Acer for my desktop and was totally blown away at the brightness and resolution of the inexpensive monitor. Of course I was upgrading from an old HP 17" monitor that had the brightness turned all the way up and still could not see dark areas very well. So I may be a little naive but I love this monitor. I would recommend this product to anyone in the market that is on a budget. I am a fan of Acer from now on.

  Just received the Acer AL1916WAB 19" widescreen LCD monitor and I love it. Pictures, text and graphics appear very sharp. The colors are bright and true. Not a hint of blurriness when using a word processing or spreadsheet program. I am very happy with my purchase of this monitor.

• Bitten by the Lemon Bug ?!?

  Thought this would be a great upgrade over my old MAG CRT, but it failed after about 1-1/2 hours ... all seemed fine after initial hook-up, but by the 2nd hour, got a flicker and went black. Never came back to a readable screen after that. I sent it back to Amazon for a refund, and was happy with that process ... will try something else in the future.

  I'm buying this for my X61 laptop. It definitely beats the thinkpad screen in the brightness, contrast and picture quality. The color is vivid and the pictures are very sharp. Great monitor!
