A disappointment By AYCYCNJLPH4MI on 2007-01-20
The copy on the product is a little misleading. It doesn't actually "dispense" money like an ATM. When you decide to withdraw you enter the amount you want to take out, the whole bottom drawer opens and you reach in and take out what you want. All the money just sits in the bottom drawer all mashed up together. It would be a good place to hide other small treasures from brothers and sisters.
The machine is basically just a big calculator with a running total. If you make an error you have to adjust manually which is confusing to kids.
For anyone laboring under the misconception - this machine does not read bills or count money, it's just a calculator with a drawer in the bottom.
Time-tested toy By AMF90M5RBQVUU on 2006-11-10
My nine year old son received one of these as a birthday gift. I thought it was pretty cute. I was surprised, though, by how much mileage he got out of it. He used it as a bank, and kept his money in it. But he also used it to play "bank" and other games with his sisters and friends -- which occasionally degenerated into "bank robber"-- but they had a ton of fun with this an accessory for make-believe games of all kinds. I think just having the bank motivated him to save his money, too - something that we'd had a hard time getting him to do when he was just putting it into an old-fashioned piggy bank. There's something to be said for introducing kids early to the realities of putting the money in, taking it out, and when you take out too much, there's none left!
Waste of money... By on 2006-10-18
This ATM is junk. It breaks easily and it doesn't work like you think it will. It is junky. I recommend you get something better.
Very Educational By A1HE9C4MES398C on 2007-01-19
I bought this for my 6 year old daughter. She loves it. It helps her to keep track of her money and she loves to enter in money and watch her account grow. I do wish it had 2 or more "accounts" so she could also work on saving her money.
I would recommend this to a friend.
Cool product, but mine was broken By A2PERWHE6VPZUX on 2007-01-12
The digital display was missing some characters and made reading it almost impossible for my 8 year old. He liked the idea of it so I brought it back to the discovery store only to find they had no more left. I wasn't into paying the shipping to send it back so I exchanged it for another item. Too bad. I think the store should test its products prior to sending them out.
- Teaching Tool
     By A1C2H0JEQGKB6I on 2007-01-15
This item is a good teaching tool. I bought it for my pre-teen for Christmas to teach him how to save and spend money. He likes that he can keep track of his total without having to always pull out his money to count it. I chose not to buy for my other children after reading the reviews, because they are younger and may not handle the ATM properly. My son says, "It's Cool!" Plus, he likes that his siblings cannot get to his money without having his PIN code.
The only thing I dislike about it is, when you change the battery, everything (PIN & amounts) needs to be reset. There should be some sort of memory that lasts for atleast 5 minutes for a battery change.
Overall, I am pleased with the product so far. It has only been a month since the purchase.
- ATM Bank
     By A3M3WGAFOCXIR9 on 2007-01-18
My daughter age 9 has several wallets, purses, banks etc. She loves them and she really wanted this one too. We just thought it was a passing fancy but she never forgot about it and on Christmas is was her favorite gift. She loved putting her wallet in the bank and having it keep track of her money. She didn't have to get it out and count it everyday and her three younger siblings couldn't do it either.(yet they can play with it without harming her stuff) Perfect!
- ATM machine
     By AV4UD5SOM580O on 2007-03-09
My son enjoys putting his coins in the machine and watching his money grow. I also think this is helpful in learning the value of the coins he is putting in. The only let down is I thought it would speak as money was entered similar the demo button however, it just beeps. My son still really likes the machine and he enjoys saving his money with it.
- Great concept...but not durable at all!
     By A3NNPC2WEZSJ3J on 2008-03-24
I purchased this toy ATM machine for my 10 year old son. He loves saving money & is a very responsible young man, so I knew this would be the perfect toy/gift for him. Unfortunately it broke within minutes of setting it up. We were both very disappointed!
- Great starter bank
     By A3AYSYSLHU26U9 on 2008-05-19
Purchased this ATM bank directly from Discovery Channel and paid quite a bit more than the price Amazon is offering of $19.99 (deal for the day). My daughter keeps very good track of your funds and makes deposits and withdrawls on a regular basis and has not lost track. She has had it for a year now. I only wish it sat more stable on her desk. It can be hung on a wall but it would not have looked right in her room decor. Highly recommended for any child who likes to save their money and not spend it (cuz they spend their parents instead).

Purchased for two pre-teens (boy and girl). Both are still enjoying this product and it is well after the holiday. I think it helps them keep track of the money they spend plus the added convience of a bank. I highly reccommend it.
- this is FUN!!!
     By A2GXSJDNBXC9YE on 2007-03-27
my 7 year old loves his new ATM bank. He adds money to it every day and is able to watch his balance grow. It has taught him to be responsible for his own money and to keep track of what he spends.
- Play ATM Machine
     By AF0Y8A16UWMLR on 2008-07-03
My 9 year old daughter wanted this ATM machine for a while, and was really excited when it came. My 14 year old son set it up for her, so I'm assuming the set up isn't too difficult.
It comes with an ATM card and you have to choose a PIN for it.
My daughter makes deposits and withdrawls and really enjoys it.
It's fallen several times already off the couch and it still works perfect so I'd say it's pretty durable.
- Fun toy ATM Machine!
     By AYC3FPBBE9CA8 on 2008-02-16
My 7 year-old son is into anything with buttons, noises and swipe cards. This ATM has all of this and more! The auto-bill feeder is neat, but the voice quality (which is sort of space-age sounding) is poor. The machine also will not detect the denomination of the bill - you tell it whether it's a $1 or $5 or whatever. It'd take a computer and lots of sophisticated stuff to add that feature. Overall it's a nice bank, with mounting holes to hang it on a wall. Battery life is good, and it's a neat way to try and teach kids to save $$$$$.
- Perfect for my seven year old grandson
     By A2UD2BH234JKHH on 2008-03-08
We bought this product to replace another automated bank that would not work properly. The other bank frustrated him, but he adores this ATM style one and keeps it hidden in his closet 'so robbers can't find it.'
