  Yes, this review is long. Deal with it, I've got a lot to say.
  
  A note: this review is of the Japanese version of the movie. I haven't actually seen the English version yet. ^^; I'm hoping the dub will leave this masterpiece of a movie intact, though. That said, this movie is arguably the best of them. I used to reserve that spot for the third, with its subtle themes and gentle lessons of life, loss, and happiness, but this one tops that. When I first saw Mew and the Wave-Guiding Hero, I was a bit skeptical at first. Entertained yes, but the true magic of this movie comes upon multiple watchings. Please note that from this point there are extreme spoilers. If you think the only point to watching a movie is to see how it ends, then stop reading, but like I said, you need to know the story before you can truly appreciate it.
  
  That said, the movie opens with an ancient war, and the efforts of a Pokemon named Lucario and his human master Aaron to prevent their castle from being destroyed. Right when the battle is about to begin, however, Aaron declares that he has abandoned the castle forever and tells Lucario to leave as well. When Lucario insists on following him, Aaron seals him within his staff, where Lucario remains for many centuries. The details behind the war's origin are not present, but in my opinion, they would only bog down the storyline more; Aaron himself later refers to it as a "pointless war," and therefore it was presumably over a power struggle. In the end, however, the energy released by a mysterious living mountain named the "Origin Tree" calms the spirits of the Pokémon used in the conflict, and they abandon their masters and armor and return to their homes. Because it was believed that Aaron was somehow behind the Tree's miracle, he was named the Wave-Guiding Hero.
  
  The main storyline kicks off again when Ash prevails at a competition and is named the honorary Wave-Guiding Hero in an annual festival. The Legendary Pokémon Mew is also present at the festival, and disappears along with Ash's Pikachu when confronted. But when Lucario finally breaks out of the staff in which he was imprisoned, he is faced with the loss of everything he ever knew, and grudgingly agrees to lead Ash in a journey to the Origin Tree to find Mew and rescue Pikachu.
  
  But if you think this movie is about nothing more than a boy on a quest to recover an electric mouse, you will be gravely mistaken. Ash and his friends become the victims of their own adventuring when they are incessantly pursued by both the Tree's ancient guardians and its internal protection, akin to an immune system. The story has enough action to satisfy the younger fans, yet the makers knew the value of silence and character depth. It's really much more dramatic and suspenseful than action packed. An example being that each time the Tree's guardians, the Regis, show up, is creepier than the last. As my ten year-old sister (who is not a Pokémon fan, mind you) once said: "The Regis are the only Pokémon that actually look scary."
  
  The plotline isn't too complicated that it'll confuse the younger fans or older non-fans, but it still has a nice complexity behind it that just isn't seen in most kids' movies. What starts out as nothing but a journey to find Pikachu becomes much more. And then of course there is the animation, which is certainly a treat. The Pokémon team has improved tenfold over the years with painting backgrounds, and the 3-D effects blend in very nicely. Even the ordinary 2-D art is a cut above the usual Pokémon animation. The opening war scene is very drab and foggy, and actually made the art seem more real since overly bright colors are often what make the Pokémon animation seem so cartoony (the ballroom scene is an example of this.)
  
  There are a lot of details such as the actual content of each scene that are often overlooked. My favorite example being that when a miracle of time shows a rampaging army charging through a valley, the flowers that exist in the present time continue to sway peacefully, completely unaffected by the horrific vision of the past. Lucario then collapses to his knees with grief at the memory of when his master abandoned him, and the flowers continue to sway around him, adding to the emotional beauty of the sequence. Additionally, the music score for this movie is something special indeed. The score suring the initial war scene is just so somber and dramatic, but at the sametime, the heavy beating of the drum reminds you of the stakes of the battle. The scenes in which Ash and co. are chased by the Regis has a vaguely techno-ish feel to it, adding the already creepy atmosphere. And the movie's main theme, what I've come to call the "Hero music" is very flexible--triumphant at some times, yet slow and saddening at others. I'm glad that all the recent Pokémon movies. has kept the Japanese music, since it would be a shame to lose such an awesome score.
  
  It's a lot more than just the events or the animation or the music or the plotline though. This movie delves into a lot of the themes that the older ones addressed--friendship, loss, life, and whether or not Pokémon Training is truly based upon bonding rather than servitude. The gem is that unlike many of the others, the themes are there, but they don't get drilled into the viewers' heads. Lucario is very suspicious and mistrustful of humans, but he grows throughout the movie. We never really see Aaron beyond the initial war scene, but Lucario's flashbacks (which are very nicely placed and handled in my opinion) offer much insight into Aaron's character, and we see how Lucario is completely torn, unsure of what to believe. He feels betrayed, but he doesn't complain about it. You feel sorry for him, but he never throws a pity-party. He is one of the most complex characters ever created in the Pokémon series. And when he finally learns the truth behind Aaron's sacrifice to end the war, you can sense his pain. In the final scene, a miracle of time reveals Aaron's true intentions behind sealing Lucario, who doesn't undergo any sudden revelation as to the true nature of humans (Mewtwo, anyone?), because he has already matured beyond that. Rather, he learns the true meaning of sacrifice and loss, accepts the fact that he is out of place in the present time, and is able to let go of everything.
  
  Additionally, although we can suspect all along that there was some reasoning beyond Aaron's sealing of Lucario, a very interesting aspect of human nature is discussed in that many people probably don't know what they would do if things truly came down to the wire in a life or death situation concerning themselves and their best friend. Lucario simply states that there is no way to tell what one would do--a very surprising and insightful statement.
  
  One thing that I must comment on is that a critic of Pokémon 3 once stated that the movie failed because it had no evil character. I found this to be a rather outrageous and immature statement, as the gem of the Pokémon movies is that no one is ever truly evil, and the same holds to this one. The Regis--age-old guardians of the Origin Tree cannot be reasoned with or persuaded in any way, yet in the end, when Mew instructs the Tree to accept the presence of humans, they turn back, knowing that they have fulfilled their duty, but are no longer needed at that moment. And Mew himself is an interesting character--the irony is that his bringing Pikachu to the Origin Tree what was ultimately almost resulted in the Tree's, and his own, death. Upon realizing the true consequences of what he has done, he uses his power to bring back the human characters from the abyss of the Tree's immune system, yet despite the nobility of this action, the results are nearly catastrophic. Only Lucario's final sacrifice can save Mew, the Tree, the human characters, and the entire hidden ecosystem of ancient Pokémon that the Tree was sheltering.
  
  Which brings up another point--this movie came dangerous close to falling into many, many clichés: the preserving of nature, the "humans are evil" syndrome, and several others. Each time, however, it made its point without falling in. It didn't become a movie about saving trees, it didn't rant on about the virtues of Pokémon friendship with a character who thought all humans were evil. Lucario was surprisingly acceptant about his own sacrifice, which shows that he had indeed accepted the loss of his master, and wished to die the same way. At the same time, there are moments when he questions his friendship with Aaron, but it is much less direct and more of an internal conflict. There was a large amount of care in the handling of the characters and the plotline, and I wish to bring attention to it. Even sideline characters, such as Brock, May and Max all have their moments, such as when Max offers Lucario some chocolate to calm him down after an argument. The pacing is admittedly a bit slow in the beginning because the storyline requires a large amount of exposition, but once the journey begins, it is improves, with explanations between scenes of chilling suspense. Even something as simple as the part in which the Pokémon play around in an old attic offers a nice break for a bit of whimsical fun--a scene in which fans will smiling in an "awwww..." sort of way, and non-fans will be gouging their eyes out.
  
  Lastly, the plot itself ties up, but like many Pokémon movies, not everything is spelled out in black and white. There is a scene in the credits with Lucario and Aaron together, which suggests that although they both sacrificed themselves, their Wave energy that they were so adept at manipulating throughout the movie still lives on. As Lucario said: "I won't die--I'm returning to where Aaron is." This sacrifice is comparable to Latios's at the end of Pokémon 5, but unlike that movie, this time we truly feel for Lucario. If you were brought close to tears with Latios's death, you will be dragged beyond that with Lucario's. The part that really gets me is Aaron's statement about the meaning of life. (That may sound corny, but once you watch it, you'll see how beautiful his monologue really is.)
  
  All in all, if you're a young fan, you'll love the new Pokémon and the battles. If you're an older fan, you'll love the characters and the lessons. If you're a tolerant non-fan, you'll respect its message and will be able to sit through it fairly easily. If you're a non-tolerant non-fan, you'll want to shoot yourself. I don't know why, but that's just the way things work.
  
  (And as an added note, relating to the DVD and not the movie, it'll be really sice to see the re-dub of the Mirage Pokemon special. with more time to perfect their lines and get more in-character, I expect the new VA's will be better this time around.)
  
  

• Outstanding value, two movies for the price of one!

  This DVD set is a great buy. I'm glad I was able to get Master of Mirage Pokemon on DVD. I had wanted to see it again but didn't think I would be able to buy the DVD since I do not approve of the new voice-actors. But Master of Mirage Pokemon came "free" with Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, so I couldn't be happier.
  
  Not only that, but Lucario and the Mystery of Mew is one of the best Pokemon movies ever! I was surprised, because the last two Pokemon movies have been among the worst ever, in my opinion. Jirachi Wishmaker was the worst movie by far, and Destiny Deoxys was nothing special either. I thought the great, classic, well-directed and well-done Pokemon movies of the past (my favorites are Pokemon Heroes, and the first Pokemon movie, but 4-Ever was also quite good) were done. But Lucario and the Mystery of Mew returns to the old formula that I enjoy so much. The viewers, once again, are treated to the defining sub-opening battle sequence involving Ash with the credits overlayed and the American theme music playing...one of my favorite parts of all the Pokemon movies (except Wishmaker which removed this sequence). The dubbing is fantastic as well, by the original voice actors, and with care put into it (unlike Wishmaker, which was done cheesily and in a hurry). This movie succeeded in rekindling my interest in Pokemon.
  
  Lucario and the Mystery of Mew is also one of the longest-running Pokemon movies ever at 1 hour and 40 minutes, further increasing the value of this DVD set. Recommended to all Pokemon fans, even those who have not watched Pokemon in some time.
  
  EDIT: I found out this is unfortunately a glitched disc. My copy of Lucario and the Mystery of Mew always skips once during the part of the opening theme song where Pikachu jumps into the air to do the final Thunder attack. A number of people have reported this and most discs are flawed at this spot. I also saw a report of someone getting 2 copies of Mastermind of Mirage Pokemon in their set instead of 1 copy of each show. Most likely low quality mass-production standards were used in printing this product, but I guess we can't complain since this is such an oustanding value buy.

  This movie gets 5 stars because it's the best one yet and I love the fact that Mew is in it because Mew is one of my favorite pokemon. You get a free promo Mew card with the DVD, plus a mini comic book and you get another DVD too, which both the movies are good. Any pokemon fan would love this movie.

  The start was a tiny bit slow but the rest of the movie was great. The movie had Lucario a brand new Pokemon plus a old Pokemon (Mew) there were 3 other never before seen Pokemon. It had a great bonus feature. A Mew card, a comic and another free DVD of a TV special "The Mastermind of Mirage Pokemon" This Is a great DVD. Movie 5/5 Value 5/5 Features 5/5 Best one eva!

  The pokemon movies just keep getting better and better. I just don't no why they stop puting the pokemon films in theaters in the usa. I think there wonderful movies and I think they desiver the right treatment just like in japan. But I guess people aren't into cartoons like when the little mermaid came out. Its just now people are into seeing computer animation movies instend of seeing hand drawn movies. I just wish they would bring back hand drawn movies back to the theaters. You no everyone still wishes they still make movies like they did with the little mermaid. But I guess most people are just into stupied movies that they been making lately that don't have the right touch how they did back then in the early 90s oh well thats what I think. But any way lets get back to the new pokemon film for me I though it was really good everything in the movie just went right on target. And its really cool that you get to see mew again. But anyways if your into the pokemon world and movies your forsure going to want this movie with the rest of the pokemon films. Well thanks reading my review who every reads it
  
  
• Reeeeeeeeeeegirocku!

  Out of all the Pokemon movie, the first, seventh, and this one are my favorites.
  
  Lucario is a very confused Pokemon. There is a war going on, and just as things start to get bad, they get worse. His truster partner and master, Aaron, suddenly turns on him and seals him within a strange staff (Substitute for a pokeball?) Centuries later, this anubis-like Pokemon is
  awakened once more.
  
  One of the greatest things about this movie is the character development. Ash is extremely likeable, and he is presented as a very realistic character, down to earth, but still the good old Ash we all know and love. Still the naive kid who was good enough to jump between the battle of two psychic super-kitties, to save a group of pokemon, clones and originals. (I'm refrencing the First Movie, if you can't tell)
  
  Also, I very much enjoyed the conversations between Ash and Lucario, especially the one where Lucario and Ash begin to argue, which escalates into a fist-fight. (I saw Ash tackle Lucario, and I was all..."OMG, Ash, that was awesome!)
  
  Kidd was also another likable character, her voice-actor is very talented! Her two pokemon, both of the Weavile species, were funny too.
  
  Lucario was great character, very interesting and deep, with the confusion , anger, and sadness of Mewtwo, the honor of Lugia, and the awesomeness of Regirock all combined. Oh yes, I might as well explain Regirock, and the title of the review.
  
  Regirock is now practically one of my favorite Pokemon thanks to this movie. Mainly because...of his voice. Regirock had, quite simply, the awesomest voice ever known to Pokemon-kind. It sounds a little soemthing like this, "REEEEEEEEEEEGIROCKU! Beep-beep-bee-bee-beep- BWOH-Oh-Oh-Oh-OH!!!!! Beep!" Okay, that was a stupid imitation, but just watch the movie, and be amazed. The Regi Trio was actually rather creepy, and Regirock's sudden explosion into the movie (Literally) Surprised me. Here I am, watching the movie, all of a sudden Lucario gets very still, sensing soemthing, out of nowehere this...this THING jumps out of some rocks and screams, " REEEEEEGIROCKU!" At me. Awesome. The Regi's keep their Japanese voices. I loves his voice, so obviously, I had to title my review after him......What?... why are you looking at me like that? (Yes, I am lame enough to devote an entire paragraph to how awesome Regirock's voice is. Geek and proud 2 be 1.)
  
  The plot of the movie is very original, and I enjoyed this movie immensly. Mew was also an awesome addition. Mew had a very important role in the story, and was just as adorable as she was in the first movie. I'm a sucker for flying pink kitties. And Regirock. Like I said, I'm a geek.
  I suppose this is all I really have to say on the subject.
  
  On a completely random note, Regice's voice is creepy. It gets all high-pitched, going, "Regice-Re-Regice" Then, when it gets mad it's all, "REEEEEGIIIICEEEE!" And then, in one seen only when it got VEEERY mad, it goes into this low, scary, robot-ish, "Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeegiiiiiiiiiiiiice...." O_o...Yeah...
  
  Before I start imitating Regirock again, let's end this review, shall we?

• Pokemon Lacario and the Mystery of Mew

  Pokemon Lacario and the Mystery of Mew is so cool. Ash finds a new Pokemon in a cave. Ash, May, Max and Brock find a new cool cave. It's so hot in the cave. In the cave they find three new Pokemon called Regaice Regasteel Regarock. They are ledgendary.I did't like the part when the Pokemon were controlled. I liked the new Pokemon in the movie and my brother liked the movie too.
  
  
• One interesting monster

  If there's one thing I think has always worked for the Pokemon movies, it's their multiple introductions. For instance, Lucario and the Mystery of Mew starts with some historical background on Lucario, and his separation from his trainer. After this intro, there's the title intro, followed by an introduction to Ash and his friends as they enter their next adventure.
  
  It seems that Lucario has passed his animosity towards his former trainer onto Ash, who has a similar aura. But, he has to team up with Ash in order to retrieve Pikachu, who's been abducted by Mew.
  
  For the rest of the story, you'll have to watch the movie, or read someone else's review. One thing I'll say about Lucario is that there's something about him that reminds me of a character from a Sega game. Color him red, and you'll know what I mean. I think that's why I find him so interesting.
  
  This package comes with another movie on a separate DVD, Mastermind of Mirage Pokemon. This is another movie where we get to see Mew again, as well as Mewtwo. I'm not sure why this is, but they have a whole new cast of voice actors for this movie. Even Misty, who makes an appearance in this movie, has a different voice. Those who are used to Ash, Brock, Max, May, Professor Oak, Jessy, James, Meowth, and Misty from earlier movies and episodes, such as I am, will wonder why their voices have changed so suddenly in Mastermind of Mirage Pokemon. For the familiar element of adventure, this isn't a bad movie. It's just strange to have Ash not sounding like Ash.
  
  I, for one, would definitely recommend Lucario and the Mystery of Mew over Mastermind of Mirage Pokemon, if for no other reason than familiarity with the voices. And, in my opinion, Charizard looks really neat dressed in red armor, as does Blastoise in blue. But, I have to admit, I wonder why they don't have short movies with the main ones like they did up until Jirachi Wish Maker. I suppose, after Gotta Dance, they wore out their welcome. Too bad.

  Are you insane? I've clicked on your profile to read your "reviews" for other movies and lo and behold, you also SPOIL key aspects of them, ruining the surprise for those of us who haven't yet seen the movie.

  And since this is the space to write a review for this movie, Lucario and The Mystery of Mew, I have yet to see it as of this posting but I'd like to send out a special kudo to Viz Video for releasing this movie as a 2-disc set.
  
  In my opinion Mew is the most fascinating Pokémon and it's nice to see the series going back to Mew for a feature-length treatment, and considering how good Destiny Deoxys was and how much effort went into it I'm especially looking forward to this installment.
  
  I'd still like to see the Pokémon movies re-released in widescreen, as this one should be, and it would be nice to also have their Japanese counterparts subtitled in English to compare to, but hopefully Viz Video will have some nice extras on this set. Looking forward to it!

  This is a decent pokemon movie. It has some okay action seqeunces in it but they not as intense and briefer than those in the first five movies. For those of you that don't know the chronoligical order that would be all the movie from Pokemon Mewtwo strikes back untill Pokemon Forever. Also i thought I would also inform if your intrested that this actually the nith movie not the eighth movie. Unfortunately some fans of the movies series did not consider Mew Two Returns a movie do to its very short running time of only about 70 to 79 minutes when most pokemom movies usually last about 80 minutes to 2 hours depending if you are watching the normal dvd or vhs format version of these movies or the made for television versions. I believe this movie was supposed to be on Cartoon network sometime later this month. This movie had is bebue last Friday on Cartoon network. The adventures of Ash contiunue after the movie starts after a brief flash back scene. Ask takes part in a cermony to honor a legendary hero Sir Aron who saved the kingdoom from destruction. When Lucario the companion of Sir Aron is freed from his prison he thinks his master sir Eran betrayed him and his queen. Lucario was a new pokemon at this time he is a tall blue fox like pokemon about four foot 8 tall. It's up to ash with the aid of Brock, and his newest companions max and may (they were brought in at the end of the master quest series to replace misty until see later briefly return for about two in either pokemon advanced challange or battle I can't remember which. Can Ash help Lucario learn the real reason for his imprisonment and to trust humans again and once again save the tree of ages from otter destruction just like the brave Sir Aron did 1000 years ago. Find out in the thrilling conclusion.This movie should be fine for kids ages 10 and up do to slighter milder ammounts of violence than that in the first five movies.

  I love Pokemon Movie 8 - Lucario and The Mystery of Mew!
  I can't wait for this movie! I have been wating for this movie for a year! The movie is manily based on the brand new Pokemon Lucario. There are also the other pokemon and their names are MimeJr.,Weavile,and Bonsly. Mew is also in the movie. It all starts when the greens and the reds are fighting a war and Aaron and his pokemon Lucario must stop it by going to the orgin tree. Aaron is on his Pideots back as it is fiying to Orudoran castle Lucario jumps boulder to boulder he sees pokemon in green aromor and pokemon in red aromor fighting each other. Lucario touchs a flower and speaks to Aaron who is at Orudoran Castle standing next to Queen Eileen then he hops on his Pideot and meets Lucario. Then just as Lucario is going to the orgin tree Aaron throws his staff at Lucario is tured into aura energy and sealed in Aarons staff. Then Lucario watchs Aaron go to the orgin tree. Lucario watches as Aaron go in the orgin tree the it starts to glow. Eileen watchs the orgin tree glow. Then it stops glowing. Aaron was never see again. Supposdely the staff contaning Lucario was found. Said a mother reading to her little daughter the Legend of Aaron and Lucario in a small town next to the Orudoran Castle. Ash,Brock,May,and Max are walking along a bridge to Orudoran castle, they are wearing there regular clothes. After they went though the bridge they change into different clothes. Then Ash learns of the Wave Guiding Hero tornament. He enters the tornament and wins it. Then just as Ash is celebrating his win Mew grabs Pickachu and flies a way. Then Ash learns that Mew took Pikachu to the orgin tree. Ash travels with Lucario and co. to the orgin tree. As Ash and co. are traveling Kid gets traped in a red glop. She sends out her two Weaviles. As they enter the orgin tree the three Regis ambish them. Ash tries to battle them but their to powerful! out of nowhere Mew appears and stops the Regis. As their are in the orgin tree They notice Aaron frozen. Ash touches a time flower it shows Ho-oh reveals it self as Mew and Aaron is giving Mew energy just as Mew gets all of its energy back Aaron falls down in pain and then the scene ends. Ash knew what they would have to do. One of them would have to give up their life. Just as they are going up to Mew Lucario touches a time flower. The scene shows Aaron nealing down in pain. Aaron last words are He never thought of Lucario as a servent but a friend. He said the reason he sealed Lucario was because he wanted to protect him. Then the scene ends. Lucario starts giving his energy to Mew. Mew is still weak. Lucario tells Ash that he also has the Aura engergy. Ash puts on Aarons gloves. Ash and Lucario start giving energy to Mew. Then just as Mew is geting its energy back Lucario pushes Ash out of the way. Then Lucario kneels down in pain. Just like Aaron and then Lucario freezes. Ash and co. watch as Lucario's and Aaron's spirts are floting in the air. Then everying goes back to normal. At the end of the credits Aaron and Lucario are walking nerby Orudoran Castle. Aaron shares a choclate bar with Lucario. I overall think it is a great movie everyone should see it.

  I gotta say 4Kids did a better job than i thought they would.I seen both the english and japenese versions.I dont want to revail to much.Expecpt Regirock,Regice,and Registeel make an aperance.This will be the first 2 disc set pokemon movie i look foward of a redubbed version of the mastermind of mirage pokemon.This movie is cool.

  I have seen other Pokemon movies, but this was the worst. The plot was bad and it did not have that many pokemon as I thought.And Mew does not fit in the story when it is about Lucario.

  I liked the story which teaches Sacrifice, Loyality, Friendship, Sincerity, Bravery, Sometimes What you see or understand is not true, True friendship should not have a doubt about friend.
  
  
  The Whole Movie was very Intresting and the end, Although was sad but it taught others to love and trust friends so It was excellent movie to watch
  
  I saw this movie 20 times and Tears came out of my eyes after seeing the end of Lucario

  This pokemon movie is just great!!! My kids just love it. It's a bit more action pack than the pokemon series. It has more action, more excitement and it keeps your child on the edge of his seat. It is very clean movie; no foul language or any of the other stuff parents worry about for their kids. It is a fun movie for children. If you enjoy the pokemon series; you'll enjoy this movie - Lucario and The Mystery of Mew. Highly recommend it. Your kids will not be disappointed.

  I bought 7 items from Amazon in one order they got here super fast and everything was very nicely pakaged and seemed very safe. This movie was one of my sons fav. presents (and he even got a cell phone lol). I can't quite tell you what this movie was about but any kid that loves Pokemon will love it. There are tons of new pokemon in it to. My son (7) has watched over and over since Christmas. If your kid is a Pokemon fan this movie is a must.

  This was one of the more tammer of the pokemon movies. Some parts might be to scary and violent for kids under ten. When pickchu is carried of along with mewoth by a mew to the tree of ages during a cermoony during honoring the legendary Sir Eran who saved the kingdoom the world from other destruction about ten centuries before ash must make a new unlikely ally. A pokemon Lucario who is a pyshic fox like pokemon not as powerful as some of they earlier physic like mew and enti but strong enough for some decent action sequences. With a huge hatred for humans think his last master sir aron abaadon him and they queen. Can ash uncover the truth and will Lacurio trust humans again and save the world. What price will ash and Lucario have to pay to once again save the world from total destruction. This is only the second movie that mew has appeared he also appeared as minor characters in the climatic finally of the original first pokemon movie. There is not a min movie for this one there is a 40 minute special called mirage pokemon but that is on a second seperate disk. I think the people got tired of the min movies and thought they were dumb or cheesy after the release of the got to Dance mini movie. If you like this I also recommend you see the other movies however the first five movies might be to intense and violent for kids under the age of 15 depending on how easy they get startled.

  The movie itself is actually pretty good, with some nifty character development and some genuinely touching and funny moments. Lucario is a pretty cool character, with an extremely neat design and some cool abilities.
  However, the DVD is lacking in two crucial areas: Lack of a Japanese language track, and it's not widescreen. Having seen the widescreen version on Japanese import, the full-screen picture ruins a lot of the nice shots in this.
  Come on guys, get with the program and stop with the full-screen already! Also, an option to have the Japanese voices would also be amazingly appreciated.

  My son is an avid pokemon fan - he loves the show and the video games. These movies tell the tale about how it all began. My son did indicate that he thought the movies were a bit sad, but nonetheless, he's enjoyed them very much and has watched them several times.

  I purchased this for my granddaughter, age 11, in Georgia. She was delighted to get the DVD. She called me and said it was just what she wanted for Christmas She also said it was a gift she could use all year.

  This is the teenth pokemon movie to be made. The title of the movies are a little of. Some people of this series didnot considered the second movie with mew II entitle Mew II Returns a pokemon move but just a special do to a super short running time of only about 75 minutes. A word of advice un less you real like pokemon try to get this version instead of watching the made for tv verision. While Lucario Mystery of mew lacks some what of the intesity of the earlier films but when you average it based on that combined with a rating for special effects, the effectiveness of acting, the plot and the music it all averages together to be about a five. Can ash with the newest Pokemon Lucario save the tree of ages from utter destruction. Can Lucario learn to believe and trust in humans again after believe to be betrayed and abadomed by his master over 1000 years ago after the last time the world and all the living creatures were threatened. Can ash get Lucario to trust him change the life of another gifted pokemon and save the world oncem again from otter destruction. Find out in the tear jurking heartwarminbg conclusion. This movie should be fine for kids age 12 and up due to mild violence. This movie is not violewnt enough to b r or p-13 rated but I think some parts I think are sligtly to violent to be G it probably should have gotten PG but thats very unlikely to ever happen with this or any other pokemon movie since it is one of the biggest series since Inuyasha was introduced in the US.
