Best Price: $39.98 $31.99
THE FIRM Sculpting System from Gaiam includes an instructional DVD hosted by Allie Del-Rio Pointer and a 3 in 1 sculpting stick. The 42" sculpting stick weights 9 lbs and breaks down in to three, 14" pieces. It can be used as a full stick for squats and lunges and the 2 ends (weighing 3 lbs each) can be used as dumbbells for defining and toning. Shape, tone, and strengthen your body without heading to the gym day after day with the Firm's body sculpting system. Equipped with a multifunction three-in-one stair-step platform and a multi-workout DVD, the kit will melt away the fat and reshape your body in no time. The durable plastic stair-step platform is a terrific exercise accessory, with a three-level, no-slip platform that adjusts from 6 to 8 to 14 inches. As a result, it's easy to vary the difficulty and intensity of your workout. The DVD, meanwhile, includes three different workouts to keep you fit and inspired. Hosted by Firm Master Instructor Allie DelRio Pointer, the Cardio Sculpt workout combines several cardio and body shaping routines, resulting in a single awesome body. Pointer will have you burning fat, building lean muscle, and creating your very own personal masterpiece throughout this 55-minute workout. Master Instructor Jennifer Carman hosts the 45-minute Body Sculpt workout, which features a scientifically sequenced series of strength-building exercises designed to work your upper and lower body fast. The workout will turn you into a strong fat-burning machine from top to bottom. Finally, the Ab Sculpt workout proves that getting flat abs can actually be fun. Master Instructor Lisa Kay leads you through this 25-minute workout, which teaches you the perfect exercises for strengthening, toning, and stretching your entire core. Kay also demonstrates the proper form and breathing technique for each exercise. The Firm body sculpting system also comes with a rotational guide and eating calendar, which includes 30 days of exercises, 30 days of meal plans and recipes, and a series of motivational tips.

Indeed, a great workout. Be aware though... By AEKQK4SPGHY1U on 2006-12-10
....that this is the same as the FIRM "original" Body Sculpting System out a few years back with Jen Carmen "Body Sculpt", Lisa Kay "Ab Sculpt" and Allie DelRio (Now Pointer)"Cardio Sculpt". Very effective workouts, all on one nifty DVD now.
hard work, but worth it By A1RGQ3C9SA9UM1 on 2008-01-29
These work out's are intense, but the results I had with them are fabulous.
I started out with 3,5, and 8 pound weights, and after about a month I moved up to 5,8 and 10 pound weights. I never needed to move up from there. I started doing these work out's when my 2nd child was about 4 months old. I had been doing Kathy Ireland's Total Body Conditioning workout, and I thought I was in good shape. Boy was I shocked by how sweaty I got when I attempted my first Firm workout. I was dripping sweat, panting, and my legs were shaking. These workout's are the only workout's I have ever had great result's with. By the time my son was 10 months old, I weighed 14 pounds less than before I got pregnant with him. I weighed less than I did in high-school. My back looked amazing. I was never able to follow the eating plan, these work outs + breastfeeding made me HUNGRY.
I only stopped doing them because my kids, aged one and three would not leave me alone. They'd play with the weights and run around me in circles while I tried to work out. I took a few months off from working out.
When my son was about one and a half I joined a gym. I started working out there, at 109.5 pounds (I'm 5 ft tall) and 30 percent body fat I was looking to gain muscle and lose fat. Within six months I had gotten down to 26 percent body fat by working out at the gym, although my weight stayed the same. In December my kids got sick, and I was unable to make it to gym. I started doing my Firm work out's again, and a month later when I went back to the gym my trainer took my body fat measurment, he was scolding me for missing my gym work out's, but when he saw my results, he had to eat his words. I had dropped 2 pounds and 5 percent body fat, in one month, at Christmas time.
Now I have three kids and am back at the gym. If only someone would come watch my kids here at my house, I would be doing my Firm work out's again. My 3rd child is 8 months old and I still need to lose 9 pounds to get back to where I was before I got pregnant with him. I'm just not able to push my self at the gym the way these videos do. I still do the Ab Sculpt video 2/3 days a week, and when I can't get to the gym because my kids are sick, I do the Body Sculpt video, but you have to do them regularly to get the great results I had before.
Love it! By A2UAUKBZARWAIM on 2007-02-26
This is the same system released 4+ years ago.(This is the Fanny Lifter-not the Box and not the Transfirmer-the wider steps.)
I was very out of shape-couldn't make it up stairs without being out of breath. It was very tough starting up...I couldn't make it through a whole workout until almost the 10th workout. I went from a size 16 to a size 6. Because of this system I have fallen in love with exercise and feeling/looking great!
Allie, Lisa and Jen are great leads!
Great workout By A1UIGA67TNCOYA on 2007-07-23
I bought this set a few weeks ago, and already have done the workouts several times. I have a dance/aerobic instructor backround, have a degree in dietetics (nutrition) and have been weight lifting for a very long time, and I tend to be nervous about purchasing a workout DVD online. I was pleasantly surprised at not only the DVD instruction and quality, but the inserts that come with the system were very informative and accurate.
I like that the Fanny Lifter is small and therefore doesn't take up as much space as a traditional, health-club level step. I think this set is a great starter set for someone new to the Firm (I am), but definitely not for a beginner to exercise. These workouts are tough, in a good way, but would be pretty difficult for a brand-new exerciser. Of course, Libby shows you modifications and if you take their advice (march when needed, don't over-exert yourself) then these DVDs could work for you for a while as you work your way up.
I was searching for something I could do indoors while my two little ones nap (2 under 2) this summer, as it is now too hot to exercise outdoors and there is no reliable childcare where I live. I am used to biking, walking, roller blading and lifting weights but can't do most of that in 100+ degree temps. This is an excellent alternative for me and I plan on adding this to my usual routine once the cooler temps arrive. I feel challenged, yet encouraged, by these workouts and really enjoy this. Glad I made the purchase!
not what I expected By A13PFJ3FF1V7ER on 2007-01-18
These are the short benches not the long ones that advertise on Television. The cardio video is entirely too fast. I teach aerobics twice a day and it's way too fast for a beginner even an advanced learner couldn't keep up. Also, the music is really boring. I use the benches for my own individual exercises not with the dvd.

The first time I did this video I was in pain for three days. Each time I exercised to this video it got easier, but I don't have fun. I have nowhere to put the "fanny lifter" steps that I didn't realize were coming with the dvd and my boyfriend uses them as a table. If I could do it over I wouldn't buy this product, however, you will get an excellent workout. If you have more room in your house or apartment for equipment and you like an intense workout then get this video. (There is a person doing an easier workout throughout the whole video.)

The exercise video was very hard to follow. The instructors teach as if you already knew how to do the steps. Probably would be easier if they went through the steps slower before starting the workout. Was very discouraged first time I worked out with video.
- To fast for me
     By A2OPLFA8GPFQK2 on 2007-11-29
I guess because I'm a beginner with exersizing this was a much to fast for me. I was not aware how fast they go from one exersize to the next. I was way behind and out of breath. I would have wanted a slower paced workout. It might be just fine for the more advanced. But for me it was not. I was still tying to get my "steps" in place and they were on to the next exersize. Not for me at all...Good luck to who ever buys this. Not for beginners in my opinion.

     By A2MSJPA1ZJTA0B on 2008-01-07
I have really liked this system. So far all I have used is the Cardio workout but will move into the other two when I have some weights to work with.
The stacking steps are nice. The only drawback is that is tends to move around a bit. It does have anti slip strips on them but even on my tiled floor it still moves some. I have started using a yoga mat to rest the front edge of the step on it.
I also recommend a mat to do your floor and kneeling work on, better for your knees.
I'm happy with my purchase and would recommend it for people who have had some history with step classes before.
- Stay with it...it's worth the effort!

I bought The Firm Sculpting System just before New Year's this year. I've been at this for three weeks, so it's high time I reviewed it.
This workout of aerobics/weightlifting is quick and effective in achieving results. I alternate all three programs 3-4 a week, and I go to work feeling great! It's inspired me to substitute junk food like chocolate and bagels with raisins and Fig Newtons, (all right, occasionally I cheat!) and as a result, I've dropped one pants size! I've found that the manual included was right: There never seems to be time to exercise, but after a little while you make time and it becomes habit.
Overall, the workout is great, but there is a reason that I dropped one star: Because I agree that getting through the first workout, especially the Cardio Sculpt and Body Sculpt, is very difficult, especially for beginners. (I still mess up when it's up to the sequence five minutes after the 'samba' sequence) Also, at 45 & 55 minutes, it can be excrutiating, especially those lower body workouts on the Fanny Lifter. (I gave up halfway through the Cardio Sculpt workout the first time) Still, this system does work and it can even be fun sometimes. So before you expect miracles, give it a chance. You'll be glad you did.

This is a great workout. The moves are easy and it makes me want to workout. I hate working out but this one is fun and I see the results already. I can use the box in two different levels so I decide how hard the workout is each day.
- Great workout
     By A3KB5TS6QSPGFN on 2007-07-08
This isn't for beginners. I absloutely love the Bodysculpt and the cardio sculpt workouts, and I do them regularly. This was by far the best exercise investment I have made in a long time. Quite a workout!
I purchased other Firm videos that weren't as comprehensive as this. I have gained weight through muscle, yet all my clothes are baggy - it's working!
- Eh.
     By ADEYPXPXCET5S on 2008-01-08
They move way to fast from one exercise to another, by the time I got one down I would look up and they were doing something completely different! They weren't very motivating either. I much prefer Billy Blanks.
- good exercise
     By A1U9Y9U1V252HD on 2008-02-18
I ordered this because I used to do BodyPump at a gym before I got pregnant with my last child and really liked the hour long, every major muscle group exercise. I was looking for the same kind of thing--major muscle groups, good resistance work with decent motivating music. I have really enjoyed the Firm sculpting system. It is slightly annoying to be changing the fanny lifter step around but I like that it is small, fits together and can be put away easily. I ordered this set off amazon and then the next day found 2 firm videos at Marshalls for $5 each. So I would recommend buying the videos for cheap and then seeing if you can just use a step stool. I thought it was a good price, considering I bought it for $40 and I would have to pay $75 a month to a gym to get the same effect.
All in all, it was a good workout. I haven't worked out for over a year and half with moving and having a baby. This workout made me sore, which I like because that means I worked hard. I like that it is only 40 minutes and you can even break it up into 20 minutes if you need to. Have only tried the weight training, not the cardio or boot camp but I am sure I will like those just as well. It was easy to follow after only doing it once or twice.
- The Firm
     By A1IHFH525Q4BNZ on 2008-07-30
Intense work out video.
My cardio is usually walking, treadmill and stationary bike, so I thought this would be a fun way to mix things up while getting the benefit of strength training.
As someone who has never taken an aerobics class, I found the pace too quick for a beginner, and the sessions too long. The instructor you should follow for beginner level is rarely in view during each workout.
The only result I have obtained is lots of frustration.
If your experienced and can pick up easily you will probably love this series.
- Great for home arobics

I luv all the firm workouts. I use the fannylifter with other firm workout DVDs that I own. My clothes are baggy after 2 weeks of using the DVD's
- Love It!
     By A3SZ2EGXHHPY02 on 2007-05-12
I ordered this product on 4/10 and rec'd it a few days later. Since I've opened the box I've been "firming my fanny" 3-4 times a week. Yes, it is true, you and others will see a difference in your body after 10 workouts. I haven't lost any weight and that is because I haven't been sticking to my "diet," but because of The Firm I've been toning and re-shaping every part of my body, so it looks like I've lost at least 10lbs.
This is definitely a must have!
- Great workout with The Firm
     By A1PQB8ZWRH110V on 2007-06-01
I love this product. It gives a great sculpting workout for women, and I'm already starting to see differences! The DVD has three workouts, body, ab, and cardio sculpting. It pushes you, but you feel amazing after each workout, and into the next morning. Osteoperosis runs in my family, so working out with weights is important to me, and this is a great at home workout for that purpose. and at such a good price!!
- Great

Love this product, it really works. Only took a couple of times to get the routine down. I feel great and look great.

     By AQYMZJ9RS4ADU on 2007-08-24
i did not like this product all that much. from the product info i thought that this would be for beginners but after only one try of this i realized that it is not. i have never worked out to a firm video so that might have been my 1st mistake. the instructor does not stop to explain anything or even do the moves slow enough so you can learn how to do it. she just goes right into it. i think before i attempt it again i will watch the video and then see what i can do.
- Just in time for the New Years resolutions!
     By A3QNPQXLN277NF on 2007-12-18
Well, I ordered the FIRM Body Sculpting System and I must say the fanny lifter boxes are fabulous for shaping and firming the buns! I don't care for the DVDs that came with the set. I actually prefer other FIRM videos, my favorite being Tough Tape 2. So, if you plan to use the step boxes with other exercise DVDs/videos I highly recommend it.
- Wonderful workout
     By A31Y9Q5A54HAOH on 2008-03-08
I've been using the firm workout video and step off and on for about six years. My husband made me my original set of steps. This workout video and step is much easier to use and it's very sturdy. I could see great results as well in just two weeks. Definitely worth buying.
- I Firmly love it!!!
     By A3P0MZPNKY72G7 on 2008-03-27
I love this workout system. I premeasured my bust, waist, hips, and thighs before adding the firm sculpting system into my workout rotation. I did this system three times a week(Cardio Sculpt/Body Sculpt) with pure cardio 3 times a week and yoga 2 times a week. After 10 workouts of the firm I lost 10 pounds and a half inch in all the areas I premeasured. After another 10 workouts of the firm I lost additional 8 pounds and about another half inch in the areas I premeasured. I use 3,5,8,and 10 pound weights. Body Sculpt is the most challanging of the workouts. When you heavy up on the leg presses this workout gets your heart rate up. The only cueing part I mess up sometimes is on the lunges with the purple step when she say's step up, which she should say is step back because I always tend to step up on the step with my opposite foot. The only thing I wished they had in the Body Sculpt is abs like others have mentioned, but I just do an ab workout from my other videos. Cardio Sculpt is also good but, not a whole lot of cardio. In this workout there is a great glute excercises. Ab Sculpt is my least favorite of them. It is too long and I really didn't feel like I got a hard workout for the amount of time it is. I prefer no more than 10 minutes for my abs. I have only done this one twice. I really don't mind moving the fanny lifter around. Just keep your weights and fanny lifter close by and you shouldn't have a problem. I also love the fact you can always go up on the weights to keep your self challanged. I feel so much stronger after doing this workout system for over two months now. We recently put down a tile floor in our kitchen and I had no problem helping my hubby carry our stove out of the kitchen =) Happy Firming!!!
- Great Workouts, Great Tool
     By AWHOCV49VN3BX on 2008-06-04
This is the "Fanny Lifter" from the FIRM. The workout DVD is broken up into 3 different workouts. Ab Sculpt, Body Sculpt (which is subdivided into upper and lower body sections) and Cardio Sculpt (which is subdivided as well). You can tell the DVD has been re-launched in new packaging because the music and the clothing in the video is a little dated. DO NOT LET THAT TAKE AWAY FROM THIS WORKOUT! Dated? A little. Tough and effective? You bet it is. I consider myself to be in pretty good shape, and the first time I did the Body Sculpt, I was sweating like crazy! All of the intructors are easy to follow, and gives cues really well. You will need 3 sets of weights, light medium and heavy. I will say this: These workouts are mostly sculpting, the cardio is not particularly hard. That aside, I've seen results super from these, I highly reccomend them!
- Old and eh
     By AG0IT20XNFOUO on 2008-07-06
First of all, the DVD format is pretty bad. They make you sit through these advertisements you can't skip unless you fast forward through them, before you get to the actual workout. No chapters. They're also in reverse order on the DVD menu from the box menu, but that's not too bad.
The cardio workout is less cardio than the sculpting one. I really don't see the point of ever doing it. I burned at most 200 calories in an hour. Usually I burn at least 400 when I do aerobics.
The sculpting workout is pretty good. I like the firm's total body toner video better, but you can't do that all the time, and this is an ok addition to that.
The ab part is the best, though I think you could cut out a good 5-10 minutes of it and it would still be as effective. It's a little slow paced, but it probably gives your abs a better workout that most videos I've done.
I like the "fanny lifter" though I think it's a little tall for me (I'm 5', that's kinda a big leap up there) but it does work your legs pretty good. I don't like how they try to incorporate it into the arm and ab exercises. Just so they have an excuse to use it, it gets a little silly and uncomfortable at times (when you're on your stomach).
Really, I don't know why this has such good reviews. There are better exercise videos out there.
- Pure adrenaline!
     By AVUCQ3M61OA9O on 2007-08-14
I've been a firm follower for about 4 years and was a little skeptical of the "new" firm videos. I have to say that the new firm videos deliver exactly what the earlier '90s videos promise-visible results within 10 workouts. The level of physical conditioning I have attained in less than 10 workouts is amazing. I am completely sold!
- Good product
     By ACQTTC1BW9F3I on 2007-08-28
I was a little disappointed on how small the step was. The weight lifting part is great. The aerobics in between are a little fast. I like to work my muscles evenly. They focus too much on one side before doing the moves on the other side.
- Super Workout!!
     By A1FGXCDUFJO49I on 2007-11-21
This was highly recommended to me by a co-worker who raved about the results and I would have to agree. The Firm workout will really give your legs a workout. I used my Polar heartrate monitor to monitor calories burned and it burned over 400 in about 30 min.. Highly support this product!!
- The Firm FIRMS
     By A2WMQ1T84ERJXE on 2007-12-12
The Firm system is great. I agree not for beginners. The steps can be complicated but I watched the 1st time through and it seemed to help. Exercise isn't enjoyable to most. If it doesn't hurt it's not working. This hurts thus it works!!!
