Bargain for the price! By A9SCIEZLP3XB6 on 2006-10-15
I keep reading all type of reviews about this bundle. What often misleads buyers like me, is people comparing this lenses with the Canon L ones. That is not a fair comparison since L lenses similar to this ones will cost between 6 to 10 times more. Definitely, if you are a pro and you take pictures for National Geographic, ESPN, etc. dont buy this lenses because generally, those companies will pay for the L ones or pay you enough to buy those. If you are a starter or an amateur like me, then this are the lenses to buy. They have a great price, produce excellent pictures and you will start to understand about barrel distorsion, softness, etc. Very good lenses well constructed. Autofocus is a bit noisy on the 28/70 DG but nothing to worry about because it is pretty fast. On the 70/300 side, the macro capabilities are very good. My conclusion is, dont get mislead by people comparing these with Canon L lenses. If you have the money to spend around $1,500 on L lenses to get something similar, then go ahead and do it. If you want a good bundle with a good price that will do the job, then buy these. Remember than in digital photography there is nothing that could not be corrected by the right software like Photoshop. Keep in mind than even pros tweak there pics using that software. It is digital time! I used to take pictures using 35mm but now with DSLR-s, there is no going back.
BTW, I am using a Canon EOS Rebel XT (aka 350D).
Good for beginers By AZS6UIRLDXKFT on 2006-11-08
Its not too bad. Its pretty good for beginners or hobby people. Whaterver, you will sure need a tripod to take shots @ 300mm. Otherwise, the lens is built nice, and does take some good images. As earlier commented, all PRO's do use Photoshop or other softwares to tweak images. Out of 10, 1 or 2 images turn blurry becaue of shake, the rest are fine & sharp.
Great for beginners By A3CHQLJQBMY4AV on 2007-05-25
Am an amateur photographer and frequent traveler. These two lenses have been to several countries with me and have done a great job with my Rebel. Great beginner lenses at a great price.
would buy again
