Unbelievable value! By A13GU1B9L8X2J6 on 2006-09-26
A 22" widescreen LCD monitor in the $300 - $350 range. Unbelieveable - you might skeptically think. Think again - this one is a great product at a great price. Mine was perfect right out of the box - no dead pixels, fast as lightning (5ms), took me more time to unpack the box then to set up the monitor. Takes almost no desk space at all - and comes with a 3 year warranty! This is most definitely one of the best deals I've found on anything anywhere. With a native resolution of 1680 x 1050, the picture, via a DVI connection is crystal clear and just plain beautiful!
Great bang for the buck By AF1Q9X0FQXGZ3 on 2006-12-05
I've been using a 12 inch laptop for school and it was fine for taking notes. When it came time to doing more intensive work, sitting behind the screen for 8-12 hours with documents overlapping was killing my eyes and driving me crazy. So I went out and picked up this monitor. It's like night and day. I can have two VERY large windows side by side for sifting through and combining information. Plus, I still have the laptop's screen as real estate.
There is a little bit of light leakage on the edges of the screen, but it's only slightly noticeable with a completely black background. My other gripe is that it cannot rotate, but when I have some time I'll see if there isn't an after-market solution I can utilize.
Altogether I'm very happy with the purchae.
-Viewing angle is good.
-Colors are bright.
-The option to set the focus is nice.
-The automatic adjustment works like a charm.
-22" of space is very useful.
-The price is right.
-No dead pixels that I can see.
Cheap in more ways than one By A120KBT5UAQEZP on 2007-09-12
Originally this monitor seemed like a great buy, but it's proven to be nearly impossible to correctly calibrate. Quality as compared to my 19" Viewsonic is fairly poor; text doesn't render as well, the color temperature varies dramatically across the face of the monitor (blueish on the left and definitely pink on the right!), and text is a bit harder to read. There was also a stripe down the monitor which went away when I adjusted the angle - after turning bright blue! I'd keep looking and pay more for a better quality monitor. It's the thing you stare at all day, after all. For movies it might be OK as long as you don't mind a huge color shift from side to side.
Great Picture, Right Price By A19TSC6KMNNKWM on 2006-11-24
I bought this monitor to be paired with a computer that I plan to use for AutoCAD and PhotoShop. The images come out great, sharp contrast, vibrant colors, I could not be happier with the picture quality. The wide screen format is nice, but it took a few minutes to get it properly configured with my system. The tilt function does not feel solid, it's like the screen (which is not small) is perched on this plastic pivot, but it seems to work fine, I just hope it doesn't break a year down the road. It does not have any integrated speakers which would be nice, but then who would want a nice big screen with some little speakers that sound like a tin can anyway?
Good picture, poor stand By A23NSKTMSPPBTR on 2007-06-14
When I upgraded from a 1280x1024 Dell, I expected to see a better picture. What I got instead looked washed out, and lacking in detail. The Dell had a few advantages. I can't fault this monitor for lacking USB ports, although it's a nice feature to have, but I can fault it for having a completely non adjustable base. After finding the right size software box, and a book of just the right thickness, I was able to prop it up to the maximum height allowed by my computer hutch. It still looked wrong. I then lowered my chair to the point that I have to reach up a few inches to use my keyboard, and things look perfect.
Unless you keep this monitor so that the center of the screen is exactly at eye level, you won't get a proper picture. It might not show a big difference, depending on the source, but if you look at something with a mostly white background, but a lot of subtle detail, such as a snow bank or a salt flat, you will lose all the details if you are even two inches above the preferred viewing height. If you are an average height male, and have your chair at the ergonomically correct position for the angle of your arms to your keyboard, then the monitor stand is almost a foot too low if you expect to sit it on your desktop.
You "swivel" by lifting the monitor and turning it sideways. I can't fault Acer for the limitation of my computer hutch's maximum height, but I can fault them for not working well in it, when every monitor I used in the past had enough of a viewing angle that things worked. My Dell's height adjustment was more for comfort than viewability, and it was very simple to do.
Aside from that, it worked great out of the box. Time will tell if it stays that way, but the warranty is good. Setup of the monitor itself was almost non-existent. I plugged in my existing DVI and power cables, and was up and running. I pressed the AUTO button, but saw no difference. That might mean that it was fine to begin with, though. That feature also gives you selectable settings, such as text, graphics, or movie, to further optimize for content.
I had to adjust some of my applications, which is no fault of the monitor, but you might have some setup as a result of moving to ANY wide screen monitor. For example, my ATI TV/media system needed to have a wide screen box checked, and these sorts of settings might be hard to find, expecially for software installed long ago. So if things look very wrong on some applications right out of the box, it's not the monitor's fault, but it does mean that it might take some work on your part anyway.
The bottom line is that it's an excellent monitor, especially considering its price, if your setup allows proper placement.
- Absolutely Amazing
     By A2MKIMZCYE3TWB on 2006-12-18
I bought this by shopping at the NWA Worldperks Mall through Circuit City [...] and picked it up! If this price goes down after this review, even better for you. Let me tell you that this is an AMAZING picture and quite a big upgrade, HUGELY noticeable from the Samsung 17" that I had before. It is truly amazing and everything is crystal clear and exciting to see. As a student, this was a HUGE treat for me. I HIGHLY recommend this item!!

- Piece of junk backed by Acer's lack of honesty
     By A3JG4DAZ4VNQYF on 2007-10-09
i've bought this monitor last year, and had only headaches!
the monitor broke only 5 minutes after coming out of the box. I contacted the seller, who gave me a brand new one, just coming out of the stock. It broke after only 2 weeks!!! After that, the salesman told me to look for the Acer support, which is terrible. They barely answer emails, the website is confusing, they ask the same questions and never take a clear direction. One of them finally told me to take it to repair, because " there's a damaged component coming out of production line!!! They took 3 months to give me a new one beacause they told they had no way to fix it!!!!
Two friends of mine bought themsleves the SAME monitor, and it had just the same problem that I did! And more! Acer guys told them that their serial numbers were fake!!!!
I only got happy when i bought a Samsung, which works really well until today! Not to mention that colors and the sharpness, and technical support is wayyyyyy better.... ACER... never again.
- Watch that 1680x1050 resolution with on-board intel video adapters...
     By A2SD0UPTBP3T0F on 2007-01-08
This is my first LCD monitor. To me, the widescreen format is more suited to gamers but it was a good price with good reviews so what the heck. I bought it for $279 at Circuit City.
Like most users with older systems using built-in video motherboard video, you'll find out quickly that any older machine with Intel on-board video just won't work with this monitor out-of-the-box.
Yes, plug-n-play gets you sort of *A* resolution that works - like maybe 1152x864 60hz - but not the *WIDE* resolution. (and isn't that why you bought it?)
And you'll notice text is readable at the 1152x864 resolution but somewhat fuzzy so it must be you, right? Wrong, that's because when your video card (on board) doesn't do the native resolution 1680x1050, this happens. You can play with programs on the web to set your resolutions, etc but now you're into a hack on top of a hack.
So, if you have an Intel video setup, check if it supports 1680x1050 (it probably won't) so you may have to buy an external video card.
In my case, a fairly cheap and well-reviewed card was a GeForce FX 5200 PCI card ($49-Circuit City) because all I had was a PCI slot. I like the unified driver that the NVIDIA-based GeForce uses. No hunting around for screwy drivers on the internet.
The FX 5200 has the ability to do 2 monitors and 1680x1050 at 60hz (only).
This is nice - especially when the Acer 2216 "install" didn't go well. My 17" MAG CRT always showed the desktop. Still it took several tries to get it working. Many reboots, etc.
On some systems, you have to disable the motherboard video manually before you install the PCI video card.
On my Gateway 507GR, that was a pain. Some machines disable onboard automatically, some do it in the BIOS. My Gateway required me to disable the particular display in Control Panel *AND* change the BIOS to use the "external PCI" card. Handful of reboots later and I'm in with 1152x864.
Then set the display to 1680x1050 @60hz. Success?
As far as the drivers that come with the monitor... What's this? The CD that comes with the monitor has PDF doc and an INF that doesn't help you get the monitor set up (but it has no corresponding driver).
Photoshop (latest) was absolutely HORRIBLE on this monitor when it first came up. PhotoShop gave me an error dialog "22 inch LCD monitor" profile has a problem [ignore] [use anyway].
You're forced to use the Photoshop "calibration wizard" to get rid of the grainy look of any photo (JPG or TIFF) brought up. Yes, it's SOP for most PhotoShop users but it didn't quite work for me.
My 17" CRT (and the 21" Nokia at work) never needed any adjustment or calibration (nor did any of the VMware 'virtualization' images with XP or NT going through both of those CRT monitors).
If I can't get Photoshop to calibrate with this monitor, it's not of much use to me.
I think if you need the real-estate for work (not video), it might be better to spend just a bit more and use dual 19" monitors where you can get a 1280x1024 x 2 resolution working pretty easily.
- MacUser
     By A1DQLNNLP0264K on 2008-01-22
I was very disappointed in this product. It was not plug and play for my Mac. If you like a black screen with white error type, you will love the performance of this monitor. I loved the look of the monitor, but the bottom line is it did not work. It did not come with good instructions. It was difficult to get onto the Acer website to trouble shoot, or register. So, I sadly returned the monitor. This monitor is not Mac compatible, which I read it was. You may need to purchase a new video card 256 mg or bigger, plus purchase a software called ResEdit to make it "possible" for the monitor work with a Mac. At that point, it costs too much to keep. I went to several Mac user bulletin boards, and it seems everyone was having the same issues. Acer isn't Mac friendly. : (
- Absolute nightmare to install
     By A21E7PDARMCT6G on 2007-03-09
This monitor is beautiful, clear and well designed. It is not, however, easy to use. Because of the way ASUS wrote their properties that tell video cards what to do and poorly designed video drivers by nVidia this monitor did not work out of the box. In fact, it caused Windows to go into a state where the screen was totally black on boot up. It took three different tries and two different solutions to finally get it to work with the nVidia 6800 video card. It was a very, very bad experience that left my girl in tears as her computer did not work correctly after a reboot. Not only is this sad, it is not right. What should have been an awesome present now had a totally negative effect.
This is why I have a Mac. This would never, ever happen on Apple hardware. I can think of no better reason to stop and think, "Why do I have a Windows machine when I have to do this sort of crap?"
I work with both OSes all the time and this sort of nightmare is common. It isn't right and it is pathetic that we as customers put up with it. The fault here is not Microsoft but Asus and nVidia. Both items are new and shipping yet they do not even come close to working together without custom timing information being entered and putting the computer into a black screen state is ABSOLUTELY inexcusable for the effect it has upon end users. Yes, I can figure out what went wrong as I teach driver design and production for WIndows machines. But, a layperson is at the least going to be VERY frustrated and the most SUPER angry.
I am not a happy camper. Some will have no problem at all with this monitor and for them it is an awesome buy. For those that do not have the hardware / software combination that this works for will be very very unhappy. Sadly, there is not really a good source of what will and will not work. I looked, I called, I Googled to not much avail. Even some 8800 nVidia boards apparently fail at this. Sometimes Vista works, sometimes it does not. This is SO like Windows product. Again, this is why even though I have beyond expert level competency in computers and Windows especially, I use a Mac OS X box for my personal stuff. I can do all the tweaking in the world, heck, I could rewrite the driver if I needed to. BUT WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO DO THAT. WHY, oh WHY can't Windows / nvidia et. al. just work like my Apple products. Sigh...
- Cheap price, bad quality and unreliable warranty.
     By A6GEGFMV50WI2 on 2008-02-24
It shown a black block region in the right bottom corner after using for only 6 months. Shipped it to Acer for repair because it stated 3 years warranty. However, Acer declared that it's leaking internally and it's not covered by warranty!
Also bought a 24" Acer LCD. But the color was not correct and hurt eyes. The whole screen became totally black and could not be turn on again after using for only 10 mins. Return it immediately.
Worst products and company I've ever met. I'll never buy any Acer products.
- Very happy
     By A34RLV8RAH5KDD on 2007-01-02
I bought this for my gamer son. He really likes it and is very happy with it. So this isn't my personal review I'm passing along but that of a, uh, user with higher expectations than I could ever have and, likely, higher screen refresh needs than I would have. My son is very happy with this monitor and with his dad for getting it for him.
- Great Buy!
     By A35K2YRPAW78VS on 2006-12-17
Don't be fooled by its price. This is a solid monitor. Picture quality is superb...very sharp and bright. I purchased two for my daughters to use with Mac Mini. They both work perfectly. I compare them side by side with the 20" Apple studio display and they simply outperform the Apple. I highly recommend the monitor to anyone who is looking for a good LCD monitor at a much more reasonable price!

     By A2AJ1GEYB0KHPN on 2007-01-25
I upgraded from a 19 LCD regular to this monitor, and believe me you will love it!! I reviewed a lot of widescreens (online and in stores), and i was debating over the Samsung 22 versus this one. I chose this one, considering it was XXdollars cheaper than the Samsung.
--Ordered it Saturday, had it on Tuesday!!! The box looked smaller than i imagined it to be, but dont be fooled. The packaging is tight, and the monitor is HUGE!!! Ofcourse you lose some height (over the 4:3) but the width is totally worth it.
--Connecting it was a breeze, and i heaved a sigh of relief when i saw NO DEAD PIXELS
--My old monitor was a 8ms 600:1 contrast, versus this one which offers 5ms 700:1 - I have set my contrast at 61 and Brightness at 90 on the on screen setup and it hurts the eyes (love it)
--The gaming is FANTASTIC... FEAR, PREY, DOOM all work flawlessly, especially as they support 16:10 displays
--I can open and simultaenously view 2 A4 sheets in word without squinting
As other reviews mentioned, you cannot move the monitor sideways, with limited vertical movement. But my wall mount should fix that when it arrives.
If you are contemplating on upgrading to a widescreen, this is totally a bang for your buck. With 20.1 wides being 40-60 bucks cheaper and 24 being 400-500 more, get the extra real estate!! Its worth it
Oh did i mention ....... it is HUGE!!!
- Value for money
     By A1HHEMY96W1M1V on 2007-11-20
This is a great price for a 22" widescreen monitor. No dead pixels, works out of the box without installing any software, text is clear and readable although it does seem quite a bit smaller than on my 17" Samsung SyncMster 710N. The screen also seems to be less bright than on my Samsung and colors more washed out; higher priced monitors do have higher contrast ratios. However, it comes with several preconfigured settings; graphics setting brightened up the screen considerably over the mode for text reading. Note that the angle of the monitor is not adjustable. I currently have the stand propped up on one end with a CD case. This is enough of a downside that, although I was thinking of buying this monitor for someone else for Christmas, I'll probably get them another monitor that adjusts.
The screen on this monitor is only slightly taller than on my 17" regular (non-wide) monitor -- what you are primarily buying in screen area is additional width. This is a blessing and a curse. It's a blessing for working with documents because you can usefully have more than one window open and see the entire page of the document. Great for moving between, say, Word and Excel. Greater screen area also means more work with the mouse to get from one side to another (you could adjust the mouse to move more rapidly, but it would make fine control more difficult). It would also be good if you watch movies on your computer, which some people do.
Some games don't support the native aspect of this monitor, but many do. I had hoped that a wider screen would add to my gaming experience by making it more realistic. Sadly, it does; many games now give me motion sickness (!)
I've had problems with Windows Advanced Power Management since using this monitor; monitor does not wake from sleep mode. I'm not sure why, and it may not be the monitor's fault.
- Best deal out there
     By A1C42AM2VZLR1D on 2007-08-05
I've owned several LCD monitors include some from Samsung & HP. This one looks as good as either of those brands at a lot less money. I've had it for a couple weeks now, and I am very happy with my purchase.
- Simply a quality product...
     By A1HUS1HCPD4FLT on 2008-02-23
After a few weeks with this monitor, I feel compelled to give my impressions...
The screen is exactly what it advertises itself as, that being a quality 22" widescreen monitor. Shipping was unexpectedly fast (the time from placing the order to setup was less than 50 hours for me) from Antonline. Setup was a breeze, taking no more than a few moments.
Using this screen with my 2.0 GHz Macbook running Mac OS X Leopard, all I had to do was connect one end of the DVI cord to the monitor, then connect the other end to the Mini DVI to DVI adapter I had purchased. After plugging in the power cord, the notebook automatically recognized the monitor, optimizing the resolution to 1680 x 1050 instantly. And I have to remark what a breath of fresh air it is to finally enjoy the kind of screen space I've sorely missed since ditching desktops 3 years ago (no offense to notebooks, but 13.3" inches of screen space just doesn't always cut it). A very easy and hassle free set-up experience, although this is clearly my specific account of proceedings.
The images are very crisp. No dead pixels, no light leakage, no noticeable problems whatsoever. The included 3 year warranty definitely goes a long way toward my feeling secure that I'll have a functioning monitor for the foreseeable future. And should also add that Acer includes both analog (VGA) and digital (DVI) output. Many comparable monitors sometimes exclude the digital option, so to see both ends of the spectrum covered is in this instance a pleasant surprise.
There are a few shortcomings worth mentioning, the most notable of which is the omission of any sort of speaker system. I bought it as a monitor, so this was not a major problem for me, although I suppose it would be convenient to consolidate the various PC peripherals in the name of conserving precious desk real estate.
However, at the end of the day there is very little to complain about here. The monitor offers a quality picture at a price point that is virtually unbeatable for a unit of this size. This definitely a product worth considering for anyone interested in upgrading to a unit with a little more screen space, or for anyone looking for an affordable second monitor.
- Best bang for the buck!!!!

I wanted to get the biggest flat panel that I could afford and thought I would end up with a 20". Well after reading the reviews of this Acer monitor on Amazon I decided to go for it. I am totally happy with this monitor. The only thing that could be a problem for some people is that it sits at a fixed height, it does not slide up & down. Still you can't beat it for the price! Thanks Amazon!!
- When it's right - it's outstanding
     By A1318JHVUMU3BQ on 2007-02-08
Read the reviews here and picked up a 256Mb PCI GeForce FX 5200 card to upgrade my Dell 3k. When this monitor showed up I set it up using the DVI cable and setting the 1680x1050 native res as a custom setup in the NVidia driver, since it wasn't offered even when selecting the Show All Modes option (note: NVidia's website says plainly that the 5200 and several other higher GPU's DO NOT support ultra widescreen resolutions). The monitor blanked off w/ loss of signal. It would run at a scaled 1600x1200 and look somewhat OK - the best of any other available. Finally I read on a forum that it works in analog only, and tried again with the VGA cable. Ta Da! When you get it dialed in you will know it instantly. Photoshop now looks beautiful for me (it was unusable in scaled mode). If someone knows how to force this resolution in digital I would be interested in hearing, but for now I am quite happy with this monitor.
- Playing 1680 x 1050 on a 22" LCD for the price of a 17" standard
     By AD0J5KK4WQXNS on 2008-06-30
This is probably the most economic widescreen LCD you can own. It really is in a class of its own for the price and I have never come across a monitor that revolutionizes viewing like this does. There is nothing even remotely like it and people who want to buy a 17" monitor just need to add a fifth of the price more and they have a 22" widescreen. So that's an insane bargain and it is no wonder why this Acer monitor is the hottest LCD being shipped right now. If you want any monitor, get this, unless you are willing to spend double for a high end system of the same size.
Once you go 1680 x 1050 you will never go back. Windows, Games, watching movies changes radically with this setup. It has got HDMI. So for anyone that has put together a nice high end rig with the latest q6600 Intel processor and a GeForce 8800, then this is the icing and is worth every penny. Things just aren't the same without it and going back to 19" standard is like going back to the 80s or something.
The LCD does have quite a few caveats though and you should be warned about them. This is not a high end 22" LCD. The refresh rates/response is not fantastic. It is good just not what you see on high end systems. Some games do cause the occasional line break-up. You will not notice this unless you pay close attention to every detail but when you do see it you realize that this is why it is so cheap. Quite simply it's the lowest grade of a 22" 1680 x 1050 experience you can have, but should be a heck of a lot lower for the price and I really mean that. So it justifies itself by giving you the best 1680 x 1050 experience for your buck by far.
The other drawbacks are that it gets hot and the screen can be a little too bright at times. It may not respond all the time (one time it failed to recognize that the PC was turned on after I turned the LCD off/on). It is not designed for professional media use so forget it if you need to do serious photoshopping or pixel pushing. You cannot extend the monitor so you need to sit it on top of something if you want to increase the height.
But let's be clear here. You should be expecting a lot worse for the price and you just get more... so much more that it blows you away. Everyone who has this monitor can think of nothing but wow and never has looking forward to using your PC being so much fun. The only people who can complain are those who spent twice the price on something else that is not twice as good.
Pros:
Economic price
1680 x 1050
Slim
Surprisingly good quality
Cons:
Response time
Brightness
Heat
Non-extendable
- you will not be disappointed
     By AUAE7NF4UC6MU on 2007-03-27
When my old 17" CRT monitor started on its last legs, I decided I needed a new monitor. I had a few criteria: 1. Widescreen 2. High resolution (1600x1200+) 3. Fast response time and 4. wide viewing angle.
I have had experiences with LCD monitors in the past and those four items were what excelled in each. I wanted them all in one package.
The typical research and discover period went down, and I narrowed my search down to 22" widescreen monitors under $350. The final contenders were the Acer AL2216Wbd and the Samsung 225BW. I chose the AL2216Wbd mainly because it looked better in pictures, and it was cheaper.
I was not disappointed. When the box was opened, I remember grinning the biggest grin for quite some time. It was massive, and it looked very sharp. I got it all unpacked and hooked up and turned the thing on. Some of the things I first noticed were:
1. crisp text
2. no dead pixels
3. decent viewing angle
4. "wow, there is so much more area to work with on screen"
5. "I can sit 3-4 feet away from it and still read the text perfectly"
and later after some time with the monitor:
6. fast response times in games
7. because of the extra space, I was actually more productive
Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with this monitor, but there could be some improvements (wider viewing angle, less washout when brightness is turned all the way up, and a few other very minor things). If you are teetering on the edge of purchasing this, hop off the ledge and buy it. You will not be disappointed.
- How do you judge an LCD monitor?
     By A1C4ZGNAEHDH0R on 2007-05-03
Update October 3rd, 2007:
Over the first few months post purchase of this LCD, I noticed a thin, vertical green line that would intermittently appear on the monitor.
(i.e. about 4 inches away from the right edge)
It concerned me for a while, since I thought "Damn, I just bought this monitor"
Other users might want to know that putting a fan to blow cool air on the LCD, (i.e. just as I start using it) stops this line from showing up.
Works to get rid of the line even after it shows up, although it does take a while.
NOTE:
I do not have my PC and LCD monitor in an air conditioned environment.

How do you judge an LCD monitor?
I do not know, but here is what I liked about my AL2216W bd LCD monitor purchase.
The packaging included two video cables:
1. Regular VGA cable.
2. The special DVI-D cable.
3. An adapter to convert the VGA cable to work on a DVI only video card.
The monitor had a plastic page over the LCD screen, which I found hard to remove.
This pleased me because, the one scratch on the LCD found two thirds of the way to the top, must have happened before they put on the plastic.
The scratch has not been problematic for me, and looks a little like a short, thin hair against a white page.
My ACER is fed its video signal via the NVIDIA Geforce 7600GT video card, using the included DVI-D cable.
My ACER AL2216W bd LCD monitor is.... (insert positive adjective.)
The manufactured date on the sticker at the back says: 2006/12
I had initially connected the monitor to an older ATI Rage 2MB video card, and the display was okay, but not fantastic.
However, when I connected the ACER to the NVIDIA Geforce 7600GT video card, & used the NVIDIA software to adjust the display, the picture quality was immediately obvious & much improved.
This card came bundled with the HP M7780n Media Center TV PC which I use at home. (i.e. 300 watt power supply.)
This is important to know because newer video cards, ask the PC power supply for more power, and a bigger power supply might be needed if you upgrade.
Before turning my monitor and computer on, I clean around the work area, and use a 2-inch paint brush to gently remove dust from the screen.
(i.e. The brush is washed & air dried periodically, with water & regular soap.)
The monitor stand is basic. I have not had reason to adjust the viewing angle, so I can't say much about this.
The monitor does not have any USB ports or ports other than:
1. AC Power (in)
2. VGA (in)
3. DVI-D (in)
It is easier to describe the benefits of this 22-inch wide screen LCD monitor in terms of the programs it is used to display.
1. The regular Microsoft Office icon bars can all fit on the screen.
2. The Microsoft Office Task pane can fit on the screen without lessening the space allocated to the 100% zoom page view.
3. Adjusting the windows screen display font size, (i.e. from Normal to Large) doesn't hog screen real-estate.
4. DVD movies displayed by the screen, reminded me of a visit to the cinema.
5. Line drawings and diagrams look great, & after using zoom in, I was still able to see most of my work.
After use, I cover my computer system & monitor with a raincoat to keep dust at a low level. This might not be an option for you if you have static electricity concerns.
- Too Bright, not uniform: Acer 2216Wbd 22" LCD Monitor
     By AJ3ZS9FLYZV5H on 2007-07-04
The monitor was too bright and gave me eye strain. I could not turn down the brightness enough. Even at zero brightness, the monitor is glaringly bright. Then I turned down the contrast but it makes the upper part of the screen too dark. I also tried reducing the RGB levels and then turned down the brightness, but the picture quality decreased. I was disappointed with the product and returned it. No problems with the refund at Amazon, they refunded the shipping charges also.
- I;m delighted !!!

I'm delighted with this monitor. It exceeds my expectations. I researched retail prices here in Southern California and actually looked at this monitor at various stores who quoted "out the door" prices from $50.00 to $95.00 higher than Amazon !! I received my Acer 22" monitor promptly and found it very easy to install on my computer. I'm 81 years old with the beginning of macular degeneration and enjoy the LARGER, SHARPER resolution. I also enjoy having "BLING !" Buy one - You'll love it !!!
- Very dissapointed
     By A3GJD2JQ5IWUOH on 2007-11-20
My monitor came with 2 big fat dead pixels right in the middle of the screen.
Besides that, the stand is a cheap piece of plastic that can't be adjusted at all. I can't tilt my monitor forward or backward, nor can I move it up or down to suit my needs. I had to get a phone book to prop it up more than an inch off my desk.
It's a nice big screen for a good price, but everything else about this purchase was a disappointment. I strongly recommend that you spend a little more to get a better quality monitor.
- Will do the job
     By A39IIDNWMI3MIK on 2007-03-04
I'm not a monitor guru. This monitor does the job. I'd say it's a middle of the road monitor.
I use it for coding, and it isn't bad.
- One great monitor!

First, let me say that the monitor arrived from Amazon on time and in perfect condition. There were no dead or stuck pixels. There is some very minor light bleed at the edges, but unless you are using it in a totally dark room with a black background being viewed, you won't notice it. The screen has a matte surface, so you do not see reflections of objects behind you.
This monitor is used with Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit with an Nvidia 8800GTX. It makes Microsoft Flight Simulator X look absolutely fantastic. For more mundane things, text ls as crisp and clear as you could want it.
If I needed another monitor of this size, I would not hesitate to get another of this model.
If you need a monitor with a height adjustment (this one only has a tilt adjustment), or speakers or USB hub, you should look elsewhere, but if you want a good monitor for a very reasonable price, this one is it.
- You get what you pay for

Bought this monitor 9 months ago. Decent picture, brigthness , response time. Worked fine for 6 months then suddenly started displaying lots of striped lines. I sent it back for warranty, and Acer fixed it pretty fast. But packaging/shipping cost me $50. Low price => low quality. I wouldn't buy acer again in near future.
- Sweeeet!

Open your eyes! After installing this plug and play high-def wonder, I can't imagine how I survived looking through 17" and 19" non-wide screen portholes! Awesome display. It simply works!
- Worked for an hour and then PUFF!
     By A2MWAE4XF5E34K on 2007-11-21
I connected the monitor and an hour later everything went black and I never was able to turn it ON again. I am on a tight spot since the monitor is now outside the United States (long story, don't want to get into the details), so I am not sure if it is more expensive to send it back and ask for a warranty replacement or just lose the money. Basically I am screwed either way. Not sure what the problem was, but I am certain it was not anything electrical since it was connected to a UPS.
