  I bought this remote to control my outdoor Christmas lights. I tested it in my house when it first arrived. It worked fine. But after installing it on my deck, it stopped working after about 10 minutes. It does not like to operate in the cold weather. When I brought it back indoors, it worked again after it warmed up. Amazon sent me a replacement for it, but that one also did not work after being exposed to the cold. I am not talking about severe cold (e.g. below zero). Both remotes stopped functioning in 28F weather. I finally bought a similar product from my local Ace hardware store, and it has worked flawlessly.

  I bought this remote for my roomlight to help me get up in the morning. (I live in a loft and have no windows) So instead of getting up and turing on this light, I can now remotely turn it on.
  
  Pros:
  1. Comes with an extra battery
  2. Good build quality
  3. Nice remote (comes with a key chain holder)
  4. Plugs in and then the cord extends (pictured)
  Cons:
  1. A little big for indoor use as it is on the bulkier side. (not a problem for me as it hides behind a sofa)

• Didn't work at 35 degrees

  Bought it because it was rated outdoor with a temperature range -30 to +45 degrees C. Hooked up in afternoon at 55 degrees F and it worked fine. Tonight at 35 degrees it didn't work. It's only controlling a 60 watt bulb. Bought it in and after about 20 minutes after it had warmed up
  it started to work again. I paid a premium for 1 day delivery and product didn't meet it's spec.

So lazy i am that i ended up buying this to use it indoors for my tube light. It works like a charm, never gave me any problems. I even tried controlling it from the next room and also from outside the house and it was still able to receive the requests. The only problem is, once in a while i lose the remote and would have to manually remove the kit from the power outlet to use the lights, it wouldh've been nice if they provided with an on/off switch on the receiver too. Otherwise, the product works as stated in the description.

  This item was probably overkill for me, but I'm lazy. I smoke pipes and when I'm in my comfy chair, I don't want to have to get up to turn on my vent fan (Honeywell window 2-way fan... see my good review for that item) if it isn't already on for some reason.
  
  With this little gadget, I can turn it on and off anytime I want to light up, so I don't have to get up.
  
  Works great, but of course I'm using it indoors.

  Not sure what the difference is between the indoor and outdoor versions, but the outdoor was $5 cheaper so I went with that. I'm using it to remotely power a movie projector that's ceiling mounted - works flawlessly and I didn't have to call the electrician to run another switch.

  Does exactly what it says. Works from a good distance. Great build quality. Seems like it will hold up well over time. I used it with my outdoor Christmas lights. Good housing and insulation for outdoor use. No hesitation to buy another if/when I need it.
  
  
• Works well but be aware of the battery type

  This product works as specified. Plug it in, and plug in something else into it's plug. Then you can control the power supply to the 'something else' with the handy remote. Additionally, it really does work through walls. I use it for a lamp in the corner of my room that is difficult to get to and is dangerous to get to in the dark.
  
  However, be aware that the battery for the remote is not a common battery. It is a '23A' type 12V battery that is about half the length and the same diameter as a AAA. Thankfully, they supply two batteries for the remote and the remote only requires one battery at a time, giving you a backup. If you google search for 'L1028 battery' or '23A battery' you should be able to find some suppliers of this battery.
  
  Overall, I am disappointed that the battery was not something like a AA or AAA, but otherwise I am completely satisfied.

  I used this for my outside Christmas lights, and it worked fine for ONLY ONE WEEK! It stopped working today. I tried changing the battery, but it still won't work. Based on another review I just read, I wonder if it quit working because the temperature dropped into the 30's today, and this remote control doesn't work in cold weather...?

  This RF controlled switch works as advertised and is sold at a low price. It requires no setup and has worked reliably in daily use for several months. Very convenient to turn things on/off that are located in inconvenient places.

  This works great with my fountain. I built a waterproof box with an electrical outlet in it(connected to a GFCI breaker of course). The box is big enough to hold the outlet with this product plugged in to the outlet and then the fountain pump plugged into the wireless outlet. The box is heavily siliconned so it is water tight and located in a hole under the fountain. I was worried the remote signal wouldn't be able to get through the water tight box....but it works perfect. Now I can turn the fountain on and off with a remote! Now if only I could get my front door to open with a remote like they used to do on "Silver Spoons"!!!

  We were always too lazy to go out in the backyard to switch on/off the pump for our pool - that is the perfect solution, it worked out of the box as expected (not too much functionality anyhow that you can expect from an on/off switch...). The only "problem" we had was that we ordered two of these and you can not switch the remote control. So, if you intend to buy more than one and you want to independently control them, make sure that your vendor will send you different channels (the channel no. is printed on the package).

  My mother can't clap hard enough to use a clapper after a stroke and has to get up at night to use a bedside commode . I bought a couple of these and took plastic ties and packing tape and put the remote on her walker . Now she wakes up finds it and turns on the room lamp . She doesnt have to stand at night when it starts to become dark to put the light on either with the walker next to her chair .
  
  I use one for a lamp inside my house so I dont have to leave it on to keep from coming into a dark house and have one in a outside workshop . There are many uses like turning on a portable heater before getting up or light in the garage . I bought the outdoor model here but use them mostely inside myself . Its nice to be able to do either . You can only use one in a general area of 100 feet or so because both items will turn on I imagine but I didnt look to see if they came with different frequencies .
  
  I like that the outdoor has a little extension on it to allow something that would normally block the other outlet to be adapted without blocking it . Very good range . Very good purchase ,,very satisfied . This can handle pretty high voltage and amps . I am going to try this on a old window air conditioner with no remote next unless I can find a tempature switch with a remote . God Bless
  
  PS I hate driving around shopping standing in lines wasting gas . This is great especially the items with free shipping plus a discount to brick and mortor stores like this item .

  It "worked" for the first three days with our Christmas miniature outdoor lights before it faild completely. Sometimes we would have to get the remote to withen three feet of the receiver before it would work.

  this is an excellent remote switch. works from very far away. we put it on a keychain and turn on lights inside the house from the car when we arrive home. can't think of any negative comments. the seller was great too. it came very quickly.

  We use a fan in our daughter's room to block out noise while she is sleeping and the others are still awake. Problem is sometimes sneaking back into her room after the whole house is asleep I make too much noise and wake her up. I bought this to turn off the fan without having to ever go near her room and I can now do it from the comfort of my bed. It is two rooms over and it works like a charm.

  A huge time and money saver if you live in an older house.
  
  I bought a "hot water" dispenser for the sink, but couldn't leave it on without running the garbage disposer 24/7. This gadget let's me leave the outlet ON 24/7 so that we always have the hot water dispenser ready....and then we use this beauty to turn the garbage disposer on and off. Saved much work and time. Didn't have to rewire anything!
  
  In my garage I had no "3-way" switch, but my wife and I use
  1. the garage side door
  2. the garage house door
  3. the garage main door
  .....so with one of these gadgets and an extra transmitter hanging by each door, we can turn the garage lights on and off from anywhere as we come and go. I saved a day-and-a-half by not having to rewire the garage!
  
  (I bought an extra one and did the same for my mother's garage.)
  
  I put one under our front walkway fountain and turn the fountain on and off from inside the house...all without rewiring anything.
  
  I just bought five more, as gifts, and will also use them at Christmastime to control the lights in the front yard.
  
  The longest I've had one is 6 years so far, and I've never had one fail yet.

  Bought to control a fountain, and save the hassle of having to climb behind a bush to plug it in. Would work great for patio lights, xmas lights, etc. Seems to be heavy and weather-proof. Nice that a battery, and a spare, are included.

  I bought this for a light in my unheated garage. The temps are at 32 degrees and it won't work but when I bring it into the house it works fine. Nice product if your plans are to use it in warmer temps.

  The wireless outdoor remote control system works very well: includes small red indicator lamp to show when the controlled unit is operating; provides signals that travel sufficiently long distances and through walls; has labeled buttons to assist in knowing whether a non-visible or external control has been turned "on" or "off"; arrived in packaging that was protective, yet easy to open.
  
  And the price was modest.

  This remote works GREAT!!!! I use for the Christmas lights on the front porch.. then there's no need to go outside in the cold!!! Remote works right thru the wall... no need to open door or anything!!

  I tried 2 of these units outside and the range of both units was a maximum of 50'. I find that an override switch on plug unit to turn the plug on & off at the plug would really be a plus. I bought 5 for presents and all worked except the one I kept for myself.

  Looks and feels like it's made China (which it is), but functions well. I have been using the remote switch everyday and it works ... turning on a 1000 watt space heater and light from the comfort of my bed .. good value for the money ! Can't get to excited about a switch !
