Great keyboard. By A2QNMPNXW1QAQ5 on 2006-12-12
------------------- Review edited: May 30, 2006 ----------------------
EDIT: Downrating from 4 to 2 stars.
Reason: Durability and longevity.
Rough timeline:
P = Purchased product
P + 1 month = One key stuck, went away
P + 3 months = A few keys starting to stick
P + 5 months = One button is completely stuck
P + 6 months = Keyboard died completely. No amount of battery changes, receptor/keyboard refreshes, driver reinstallation, etc would bring it back to life. I'm starting to become disenchanted by wireless products. I've already replaced the wireless mouse with a wired one, and I'm debating doing so with the keyboard. I might give Microsoft keyboards a chance.
--------------------- Original review below -------------------------
My girlfriend gave this keyboard to me as a gift set with the HP f2105 monitor (which I have also reviewed). I ended up attaching my laptop to a dock and closing it, and generally use this logitech keyboard and mouse with the monitor.
The mouse is excellent - it is nearly the same as the MX600 laser mouse I used previously, except that it does not have the e-mail and instant messaging buttons that were on the MX600. It has also has a darker tone. The keyboard is great, though it doesn't have as nice of a "spring-back" as some other keyboards. Even so, I think it works excellently. The extra features are, once again, nice to have, though the dynamic search and zoom on the left side is very easy to activate. It is somewhat annoying to have my text zoom to 400% when I merely brush my sleeve across my keyboard. To solve this, I ended up uninstalling SetPoint. Less drivers, less headache. Nyways, who needs all those buttons? They are nice to have and use, but I believe that most people will end up forgetting about them after the first few days of excitement. The glossy black trim along the top, bottom, and left side are very attractive, and while they are fingerprint magnets, I never touch those areas much, so they stay pretty. (My sleeve also helps polish the glossly black finish on the dynamic search and zoom, so I never need to worry about that side).
All in all, a great keyboard, even though I just noticed that the volume down image is slightly off-printed on my keyboard. No biggie. Thanks Amazon Reviews, for helping me find all the previously unnoticed imperfections in my products.
Highly recommended.
For God's Sake Logitech! Stop cutting corners! By A34GT4RX5FNLDP on 2007-03-04
The installation guide of this MX3200 is a joke, and there is really no user guide. The help file that comes with the software is not written specific for this product. It probably covers every keyboard and mouse that Logitech has ever made. You have to spend ridiculous amount of time to sift through pages and pages of nonsense to figure which of the contents apply to your gear. I ended up wasting time on trial and errors to figure out how to operate this keyboard and mouse. It is absurd. Logitech shows absolutely no respect for its customer's time. Whatever it takes to save a few bucks I guess.
I am returning this MX3200. Until Logitech wakes up and realize documentation is as an important part of a product, I won't be buying anything from them.
Very pleased despite a few issues By A1MOOPJ92CRZAZ on 2007-02-09
This is by far the most advanced keyboard I have ever had. I am usually against things like this with all the fancy buttons and extras but I like the way this is set up and find them to be useful here. It is rather complicated to get it all set up but, as I said, I'm not used to keyboards with all the bells and whistles that this one has. The keyboard itself is very nice. I find it very comfortable and very quiet. It is unlike any keyboard I've had with how quiet it is and if you are used to a keyboard that came with your computer then you'll find it amazing.
I do have a couple of issues that I don't like though. First, the LED display is almost worthless. It is almost impossible to see at the angle you will be viewing it at. Unless you are viewing it straight on, which you will never be doing as you type, then it is awful. You would think that everyone would know how to produce a good LED by now.
The second issue, and most significant one for me, is I still haven't found an f-lock key and must press the FN button in unison with the F key to get the advanced features I programmed into it. I haven't owned this for more than a day and I may be looking in the wrong place but it isn't easy to find if there is an f-lock. I almost never use the F keys on a keyboard so this is bothersome.
Heads Up : Vista Users By ALXRUDZQ9YOB9 on 2007-05-19
I would encourage anyone running Windows Vista to check the Logitech Support Forums or customer FAQ before purchasing. After purchasing this product and installing on a brand new Vista-ready PC I found that the Logitech software disabled system sound. Returning to Amazon, I found this issue documented by another Amazon reviewer. If I had noted this earlier I would have purchased something else or at least held off until this issue was resolved.
I tried to resolve the issue with Logitech Customer Support for almost three weeks with no luck. The other reviewer (Scott Solanik) experienced the same result after working with them for over three weeks. I am assuming that a significant number of the favorable reviews here refer to Windows XP. - Although the keyboard and mouse are nice, I would encourage anyone using Vista to hold off on their purchase until they can confirm that Logitech has a solution for this known issue.
In my case, I simply returned the keyboard.
Quality Cordless Desktop from Logitech! By A2DF62DP20RIXF on 2007-03-13
I have been searching for some time for my perfect wireless keyboard and mouse combo. I have tried a couple, and still, I did not find what I was looking for in a good long term set. The Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 3200 Laser is an excellent choice in terms of features, usability, and quality. It does have some quibbles, but overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase.
The size of the keyboard is great. It has some nice features, and it is not too big because of them. It lays pretty flat, which is nice. I am used to always having to use the legs on the keyboard to get a good typing angle, but this is the first keyboard that I do not have to prop it up in order to type accurately. The keys are wonderfully muted. They give good tactile feedback without being too noisy. My old Logitech S510 was great in terms of features, but it was VERY noisy. The lettering on the keys are not as bold as usual, and the labels for the shortcuts are hard to see.
The LCD screen on the keyboard would have been a nice feature, but it is near impossible to see from most angles. It would have been a nice feature if it was backlit, but alas, it is pretty useless. It does have some value if you need to use it as an alarm, or if you want to count how many characters that you have typed (which most people don't care about). But if not, they they could have really done without it.
Employing the features that you use with the enhanced F keys are tricky. It took me forever to figure out how to set the clock because the "FN" key is not a "F Lock" key. In other words, you have to use it like a "shift" key to use the special features. This is counter-intuitive to many users who are used to having an F Lock feature. Worse, there is NO help documentation that gives you any clue as to how to use the advanced features. You have to figure this out all on your own. That is pretty poor for a company like Logitech. It would have cost them nothing to produce a users manual for this.
There are drains in the bottom of the keyboard, so that if you spill anything on it, it will drain away quickly. Some of my favorite buttons that I had to program into my old Logitech S510 are available built into this keyboard, like calculator, My Documents, and even a calendar. The enlargement of the delete key can be off-putting to some users, but the insert key has NOT been removed, but shifted to the spot above the end key. There is now a close button key, so you can close your favorite programs without even using the mouse. There are 3 search buttons: one for web searches, one for a PC search, and one for a picture search. If you highlight text in your browser and then hit the web search, it will search for that text online. The zoom slider is really cool. I like the touch sensitivity of it. It probably won't be a feature that appeals to everyone, but it is fine for me. This keyboard really was made for Windows Vista, and many of the features on it work best there. That seems not too wise to me, because the majority of users are going to be on Windows XP. The "Doc Flip" button is for Vista, to employ Flip 3D. In XP, it just mimics the "Alt + Tab" function in windows to switch between programs. No benefits to XP users.
It includes some nice features of VoIP. It has a button that pulls up your favorite VoIP program, and a button to dial and end calls. I LOVE the fact that this keyboard has been treated with an anti-microbial to prevent the spread of germs. That alone makes it excellent to me. It comes already connected and encrypted, so that other nearby wireless computers can't detect your keystrokes.
The laser mouse that comes with this keyboard is okay, but it is not fabulous. It is really light, almost to the point of feeling cheap. The battery door is somewhat loose and shaky. For the money that you pay for the set, they could have given a better mouse. It has several programmable buttons on it. It has "forward" and "back" buttons, and they are nice except for the fact that they don't work in every program. It also has "zoom" and "search" buttons on it. The sides of the mouse are rubberized, and it has a contour to fit you hand more comfortably, even though it may not be best for some users. It is a nice mouse, but I am not sure it is hardy mouse for gaming or intense usage.
The Set Point software installed without a problem, although it took awhile to finish. And for some strange reason, even though the batteries are brand new, the status indicator keeps telling me that they are in good condition, but not completely full. I think this has something to do with the last Logitech set that I was using carrying over the settings. There is one good thing about the batteries for this set; the combo uses the same size for both the mouse and the keyboard. Also, the mouse can run on one battery. They keyboard keeps your LCD settings as long as you change them one at a time. I really like this set. I highly recommend it, if you can afford to spend the amount of money on it. It has some issues to be aware of, but overall, it is great!!!
- Full of Functionality, Feels Good on Your Fingers
     By A3VC9OVMGGDUZG on 2007-03-14
I purchased the MX3200 keyboard/mouse combo as a replacement for my older Logitech Keyboard Duo, about 8 years old, and the MX3200 seems light years ahead of that model. The keys are much smoother and softer on your fingers. There a many specialized keys on this keyboard and I find that if you take the time to learn them, they can save a lot of extra mouse work on your part. I especially like the little "X" key on the left hand side of the keyboard, next to the search and "document flip" keys, which acts to close the top window that is open on your desktop. The document flip key, as it is called, let's you instantly switch which of your software applications are on top and it's useful.
No doubt, it takes a little time to get used to the enlarged delete key above the cursor keys. But the overall keyboard layout is sensible and natural. The programmable function keys are about half the size of previous keyboards but they are functional. The little volume and play/stop keys at the top are really small but I've gotten used to them. Now about the built-in clock: I've read a lot of complaints that it isn't backlit. I think a backlit clock would use more battery life. Personally, I like it the way it is: it is visible from a standard typing position but not too apparent. It blends in with the black color of the keyboard. Who wants to look at a clock all the time anyway? Sure it could have some more functionality, but then you would staring at the keyboard all the time which isn't where your eyes are pointed when you type.
The dynamic search and zoom slider on the left is a new feature and potentially useful but takes some getting used to. The VoIP button on the lower right is a nice feature that I use often. You can answer or hang-up your internet phone right from the keyboard. The wrist-rest has a soft, rubberized feel and is apparently made with anti-bacterial silver crystals as is the rest of the keyboard and the mouse surface.
There are no caps/num lock lights on the keyboard itself, but this information shows up on-screen using the included Logitech Setpoint software, which is easy to install and set up.
The mouse is considerably better in terms of tracking/motion, than previous mice I've used. It's smooth and feels good in my hand. It has an on/off switch to save battery life and a battery life indicator on the top of the mouse that stays lit for only a few seconds when you turn it on. (Again, a battery-saving feature.) I like the forward/back buttons on the side of the mouse, but the zoom buttons on the top are a bit small and too close to the web search button next to them for my taste. The glowing red tracking light is gone replaced by an invisible beam. I liked the red glow of older mice but this invisible beam probably saves battery life too. The scroll wheel has side-scrolling capability which is handy when looking at wide web pages.
Another neat new feature, is that the mouse and keyboard automatically connect to the USB base unit, which looks like an oversized flash-memory stick and has no lights on it. You don't have to connect and reconnect the keyboard/mouse every time you disconnect the base unit from your computer. This is a big improvement. The keyboard/mice have no problem connecting to the base unit four feet away from my computer.
Overall, this keyboard/mouse combo will take some time for you to learn to use all of its features and functionality, but both units work very well, feel good to the touch, and basically make computing more fun and efficient.

- Great mouse, mediocre keyboard.
     By A7NCZCWTL7W2F on 2006-11-17
I wanted a combo and this seems to be the best one on the market now days.
The mouse is very good, a tad small, but still very comfortable. Not as good as Logitech® MX(tm)500 for my hand (I'd say I have a medium size hand), but still a very solid product. Side buttons are very useful. No need to install any additional drivers for XP if you are ok with the default behavior. Just plug it in and use.
The keyboard is so-so. It is not bad, but just not very comfortable, especially compared to Microsoft keyboards. (I use Microsoft 4000 for work and it really shines). The labeling is very small, Insert/Delete keys are not standard (a real show stopper) and I hate Vista ready button, if you hit it in the middle of the game you are lucky not to crash.
Would I buy it again? No. Would I recommend it? Probably not, because of the missing Insert button, which is a real bummer.
- Very nice . . .
     By AN5RNWAUJCHES on 2006-10-12
My reasons for purchasing this keyboard and mouse were quite simple. I work from home full time and my desk serves as both my work and home desk and I wanted to be able to share a keyboard and mouse without an annoying KVM switch that might or might not work. The MX3200 Laser has exceeded my expectations. To switch from laptop to home desktop is as easy as unplugging the small SecureConnect USB mini-receiver from one and plugging it in to the other. And because I'm using the desktop receiver stand it has easy access. So, for my money and what I'm using it for I am extremely happy with my purchase. As a side note, all of the other technology that comes with it is quite impressive as well.
- Awful keyboard
     By ANH2CGBREFYO3 on 2006-12-05
1) PageUp/PageDown buttons are not where they should be
2) F-keys are too small
3) Insert key is in the wrong place and too small
4) Right Ctrl button is not aligned with the right Shift (very hard to use them as a switch trigger)
5) Keyboard makes buzzing noises
This keyboard is a fancy looking piece of junk. If you want to keep typing without looking at the keys and swearing all the time - stay out.
Mouse is good, so 2 starts.
- Very good product, though not without a few qualms
     By A8ZMY4X9A1EL3 on 2007-01-30
I decided to purchase the MX3200 after getting tired of my old keyboard & mouse setup (also of Logitech making). Because the keyboard & mouse were technically different models, I had a mess of cables for the two different receiver units. Thankfully, with this new setup there's only one receiver for both peripherals, and it plugs neatly into one USB port.
The keyboard and mouse are sleek and "fashionable"--something you'd expect out of a $75 product. Interestingly enough, I have to agree with one of the other reviewers on the size of the mouse. When I was checking this unit out at Best Buy, I happened upon an MS mouse that felt slightly more ergonomic than this one. I'm not exactly sure if there was a physical size difference or maybe the MS mouse was just contoured differently. Either way, the Logitech mouse does feel slightly smaller, but after a week's use it's generally not perceptible. The keyboard is also an improvement over my old model, which was the loud "clickety-clack" series. The MX3200 keyboard is much quieter and "softer" when typing.
When it comes to keyboards and mice, I'm generally not one for bells and whistles. Personally, the only reason why I spent more on this Logitech unit is because I wanted the laser mouse and sleek design. The Dynamic Search and Zoom buttons on the left of the keyboard: don't use it. The One-Touch Internet Calling buttons: don't use it. Programmable Hotkeys: don't use it. To that end, I can't really speak to their usefulness or functionality.
The one thing that I will say that's completely useless is the LCD screen on the keyboard. Most of the time, if I want to know the date or time, I'll just look at my computer screen, watch or wall clock. Not only that, but the LCD display is really hard to see under minimal lighting conditions. I suspect that this LCD feature is what accounts for the 4 AA-battery requirement. (My old keyboard only needed 2.)
Overall, I would say that this is very good product. This is already my third-generation Logitech keyboard & mouse unit. I've always found their products to be quite satisfactory and the MX3200 is no exception. Consider it if you've got some money to blow or if that holiday gift card from Uncle Joe is just gathering dust.
- Great Combo
     By AZWEICMJHGT1Q on 2007-02-21
I'm typing on the keyboard right now, it's great. The keyboard doesn't "lag" and the mouse is superb. Its light and sharp. I've only had it for a shot time, but I haven't had a single problem yet. The key design is fluid and "futuristic" so it takes a while to get used to typing on it, but once you do, it becomes much easier. I haven't installed the drivers, so I can't speak for any extra features.
The LCD may be a bother to some, and useful to others. For me, it's unnecessary but not a problem. The F-keys and other extra buttons, on top, are a little small but again, not a problem. My previous set war a Microsoft Desktop Elite, so this is an improvement. I used the mouse that came with this keyboard for a while, but I already have a Logiteck MX 1000 Cordless Mouse so I keep it as a backup. The mouse that comes with the keyboard is good for moderate web-surfing but not that good for gaming.
Overall Keyboard 9/10
-Excellent functionality!
-Looks nice
- No problems whatsoever (with function)
-Some keys are just too small
-No need for the LCD
-Side "zoom" is responsive but not very helpful
Mouse 7/10
-Good, light design
-Good battery life
-Not very good for gaming
- Great keyboard/mouse combo. Some annoyances.
     By ADHA1W879JNT0 on 2007-05-23
The Logitech MX 3200 Cordless Desktop is a very nice keyboard plus mouse combo that is much sturdier and refined than prior mainstream desktop combos from Logitech.
The keyboard battery claims of eighteen months, time/month display on the keyboard, sleep and calculator shortcut keys, and touch-sensitive scroll bar on the keyboard are small, but collectively great appointments.
Away goes the recharging mouse cradle of my trusty MX 700, leaving a USB radio no bigger than a flash memory stick. The mouse ergonomics feel comfortable even for large hands like mine. The mouse also comes in a left-handed version, which is great if you suffer from RSI and need to switch hands often.
Pros
* Virtually silent typing. The keys landing is soft and the click muted.
* The ergonomics are great. The palm rest slopes at the base of the hand, so no pressure on the bony part between the hand and wrist.
* Large surface keys. The edge is also raise slightly, and towards the sides rather than towards the typist. Typing lands on the key center every time for me, where other keyboards tend to hit the edge raised instead.
* Shorter keys travel. Not quite scissor (laptop) keys, but very good for a standard keyboard.
* Multimedia buttons work in Windows XP without installing additional software. This is great at work as most companies do not allow installing non-approved software.
* Time and date display on the keyboard is convenient.
Cons
* The Escape key is small, and so are the function keys. They are half the standard height.
* The Delete key is over-sized, and the Insert key is next to F12. Ditto if you are acostumed to copy/paste text using Ctrl/Shift plus Insert.
* Lefty beware: Location of scroll strip. This is the keyboard equivalent of the scroll wheel on the mouse is at the left spine of the keyboard. If you are lefty or switch hands, and rest your hand on the edge of the keyboard when not mousing, get ready to watch the screen scroll when least expected.
* Time and date display readable only (about forty-five degrees viewing angle) in front of the keyboard.
One additional note is that Logitech stands behind their products. This set replaces my defective four-year old MX Duo, and the company sent me a brand new set.
Four stars for the product, plus one for great Logitech Support. Recommended.
- Good product for the price
     By A30L6H82T7N80O on 2007-02-21
You get a decent product for what you pay. Here are my pros and cons.
Pros:
-Keyboard keys soft and quiet
-Mouse comfortable to use
-Reception perfect
-Keyboard and mouse design
-Clock/timer built into keyboard
-Software allows mapping keyboard keys and mouse buttons to different functions
Cons:
-Battery life for mouse. Advise using rechargeable. I'm only 1 month in and am getting critical battery warnings (although they seem to come and go)
-Had to install the software a couple of times to get it to work. Still get startup errors sometimes when booting into XP.
-Still getting used to the design of the delete/home/end/page up/down grouping of keys (different than standard keyboards)
- No problems with Vista here...
     By A3VU6E3IJL4RRN on 2007-05-19
I needed a cordless keyboard mouse combo for my Vista powered laptop and saw this on sale at a local retail store. My advice to those buying this product is not to install the software that came with it. Download the latest version of the Setpoint driver (v 3.3 as of this writing) off Logitech's website and install that instead.
The driver allows keys to be remapped to use other than the default settings if you want to customize these. The keyboard feels rubbery at first but I gotten used to it after a few days and I now prefer it. The mouse feels better, works smoother compared to the wireless Microsoft Optical 5000 I have been using on my desktop. I prefer the Logitech's mice scroll wheel operation... you can feel the clicks when you scroll the wheel as opposed to the smooth scrolling of Microsoft's.
- Excellent for those under 40
     By A34JBLSYPYLWGP on 2006-12-30
I received this set as a present and I am very pleased. It can be as customized as anyone could want or the extra buttons can be ignored. My only problem is that the letters on the keyboard are smaller and dimmer than is usual. This makes for a sleek look but also makes me feel it is time for reading glasses.
- Excellent Keyboard and Mouse Worth the Money!
     By AVVIJ7EBPS4EI on 2007-05-31
I have had this mouse and keyboard, working on my new Vista (That's right folks!) system for about three weeks now. They work excellently, form typing reports and emails, to playing intense video games. The range is decent, the extra keyboard functions are actually quite useful once you get used to them and the layout is aesthetically pleasing. Not to mention the keyboard keys are both extremely responsive, quiet, and comfortable - in addition to being customizable.
Vista auto-installed to working capacity, specific drivers were easily installed to allow for use of advanced features and customization. The battery life seems good so far.
Three months later the batters that were supplied with the original unit are giving out in the mouse. At issue is the fact that the "Critical Battery Level" warning doesn't appear to be particularly critical so much as extremely annoying. A red light pulses on top of the mouse and at random times a messages pops up from the taskbar, above a consistently appearing battery low icon. Needless to say, while batter life still seems to be good (I have yet to replace them - just ignoring the warnings for now) yet at the same time the mouse has no idea what the battery life is or will be and becomes an unreliable nuisance.
- Counterintuitive design, not worth the price.
     By A26YW3UTSTQ1UL on 2007-09-05
I received this keyboard after as a gift after my old Microsoft Internet Keyboard Pro was starting to show its age. It apparently was one of the only keyboards available at the store at the time was purchased for me.
On the whole, I can't say I'm very impressed. This was my first wireless keyboard, and so far I am finding the implementation less convenient than a wired setup. The problem is that the USB wireless receptor seems to need a fairly clear line of sight with the keyboard itself ... if it doesn't, some keystrokes will go unrecognized, or sometimes a keystroke will be repeated over and and over again. This can be very irritating, particular when you're playing games.
I find that to ensure good, reliable reception, I have to put connect the wire USB receptor to the receptor that is included with the product and put it directly behind my keyboard on my desk's keyboard tray, which defeats the whole purpose of the wireless setup and is, in fact, more annoying than a wired setup, because sometimes I'll accidentally knock the receptor down to the floor. I found I could not put the receptor on the surface of my desk because my keyboard tray is at a lower elevation, and the receptor "points" upwards.
I don't know if this is par for the course with wireless keyboards or what, so if you're the sort of person who needs a mobile keyboard, maybe Logitech's implementation with this product is as good as anyone's, and thus cannot be considered a very negative point for the product. Or maybe I just got a semi-defective unit. I don't know, I just know that I don't like it.
The keyboard design is overall fine, except the function keys (F1 - F12) are not full-sized and have a different feel to them. Some people might prefer this setup, as it does let you know, tactilely, that your fingers are over a F key and not a normal number key ... however, I always felt that the spacing between the number keys and the F keys was sufficient to let you know where your fingers are, and with the MX 3200's setup, I find more difficult to tell (without looking) which F key my fingers are resting over, again, because of the unorthodox setup. The large amount of space between the F5-F8 key set and the F9-F12 key set is also confusing and for me has taken a lot of getting used to.
As for the keyboard's bells and whistles, I find they generally get in the way. I find it's nice to have volume controls, a suspend function and a few other things on the keyboard, but things like the touted "Dynamic Search & Zoom" function just gets in the way. Inadvertently brush it and the text in your web browser will balloon to gigantic proportions or shrink each character to a single pixel ... or in games and other applications, you may suddenly experience a series of menus opening/closing. On a slower computer, this might stall your computing experience for several minutes while your system tries in futility to catch up. Fortunately this feature can be disabled. (FN + close).
A few of the non-standard buttons are convenient, and I find the ones I use most are carry-overs from my old keyboard ... the volume controls, the suspend button, maybe some of the media player functions (play, pause, stop) might be useful as well. The problem is that these functions are all small buttons which are impossible to identify in the dark (I usually prefer gaming and watching video on my computer with dimmed lights), as they have no features that make them easily distinguishable by touch, which leads to a situation where half the time I accidentally mute when I mean to increase the volume, or increase the volume when I mean to decrease it, etc. and I end up totally ignoring the media player functions altogether.
As for the mouse, for some unfathomable reason, by default, the middle click function is not mapped to the scroll wheel click. This can be remedied in the SetPoint software (at least it can be in the later versions of it). Also, you have to press down HARD to get the middle-click to register, which can result in accidental scrolling action. Overall the mouse isn't that bad, but I've found that the rubbery finish on the sides of the mouse wears off pretty easily.
All in all, if you just want a quality keyboard and mouse, I say pass on this one, without a doubt. The extra features are distracting and what they add to the price of the product is not worth paying for.
If you've got your computer hooked up to a large display (like a nice big, HDTV) and you want some mobility, I can see the allure, as many of the extraneous features that are pretty much useless for normal desktop computing might come in handy if you're not using the mouse. However, because of the finicky and unreliable nature of the wireless connection (in my experience) the keyboard would only be marginally useful of this purpose as well.
- Good package with a couple strikes
     By AU3BJHGRKFI5Q on 2007-01-01
The one thing I don't care for about the keyboard is the little 'zoom' or 'view change' button on the left side. It is much too sensitive and even a baggy shirt can engage it. So for instance if you have your folder view set a certain way, the slightest/softest touch of this button will change the view.
This button should be moved.
A right-click or menu key would also be good as well as a button to light up the date/time.
Other than that, the package is great.
Update 5-08
The mouse is acting up. When you click once, at times it acts like two clicks which is really annoying. Also when you go to drag something, it 'looses' connection with whatever your dragging and this includes attempting to highlight some text.
All in all I cannot recommend this product and downgrade to 3 stars.
- good, but not great
     By A461SUOS94SNW on 2007-04-03
Most obviously missing from this keyboard -- and many other new ones I've noticed -- are caps lock and num lock indicators. Instead, something flashes on the screen, but how ridiculous is it to toggle these just to see their current states?
Also, the zoom slider on the left side really gets in my way, unexpectedly zooming a page.
I'm still up the air about the LCD window. Having the date and time at a glance could be useful if I turn off the clock on the Windows bar.
Still, this keyboard has a great feel, is quiet and hardly misspells a word. :)
- Horrible! Sending Back My Second On Monday!
     By A19369GZV46EKS on 2007-09-01
The LCD is worthless as you cannot see it. The alarm is also worthless as you cannot hear it. The zoom feature on the left hand side of the keyboard is a huge pain. It is very sensitive and suddenly, without realizing it, the screen is either HUGE or so tiny you cannot see a thing. Just from an accidental brush. This happens frequently. Just reaching for something on my desk will cause the problem.
The lag is the BIGGEST problem. Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 taps of the space bar to get a space to be inserted. When typing quickly (80 wpm) and doing another project that has me not looking at the screen, I can be two pages into a report, only to realize 99% of the words are not separated with a space. It also has other issues. It lags so much all of the letters in a word do not get input. This causes me to go back and fix every report I have written. What a waste and a disappointment. I bought Logitech because of their reputation for quality products. This is not one of them. It's an Expensive piece of garbage. I am willing to bet all these other reviews were written within the first week. I'd love to hear from them four weeks after purchase.
- Heads up...
     By A18PYG18QH34IZ on 2007-09-25
I have to write this review just to give those who are interested in this product a heads up on the potential problem of this product.
Pros:
- the arm rest is decent
- not a bad price for a good looking laser combo
- isn't plug-and-play and requires minimal installation, but that wasnt a big issue
Cons: (evaluate according to how much it will affect you)
- the middle button click is pretty hard. You can barely hear it and most of the time will accidentally push forward or sideways. Terrible when I rely on it heavily to close and open new browser tabs.
- Despite the ergonomics looking design of the mouse, I find my hand pretty uncomfortable resting on the mouse. My hands are average guy's size, and I find the palm area to be hollow whereas normal ordinary looking mouse doesn't have this problem at all.
- despite it's a laser mouse, it isn't that sensitive
- keyboard lags when you type anything over than 50wpm. Imagine you just smash your keyboard with a load of keystrokes. I can see the letters popping out one by one (a problem stated by one of the reviewers here to). I have a G Router next to me, that might be the cause but not entirely sure.
- the LCD on the keyboard appearance to be pretty useless and waste of battery life to me. It will show clock, alarm, and volume up which something the screen will show anyways.
- the zoom on the left can be very sensitive at weird times. Occasionally touch it by accident.
- the special keys on the top is a bit crowded and no distinctive separation on each of them. I always have to look at (instead of feeling them) which one I'm pressing. I usually would use those keys to play media.
- middle button isnt bind to middle-button function by default.
- the keyboard is a bit too crowded and problematic to actually enjoy the features it has.
Other notes: I didnt try it long enough to know the battery life. However the hard middle button and keystroke lags is the main reason I returned it. Minus all the dislikes, I would be using it just like a normal plain keyboard and an uncomfortable mouse.
- Hope this helps

I read all the reviews here and most was true about this product. One person said that the mouse was small, that is not true with the one I just bought today. It is a full size mouse. This is my first wireless combo set and it is great so far. I do like the preset buttons on the left side of the keyboard, I set the top on to my home page and the net one to outlook. Love it! The third one down is set from the factory to my pictures but you can change it to whatever you like. There is an x below my pictures button, which you can hit to close any program that is on the screen. Hands down a nice set. Everything linked together nicely. Good luck to all! I rarely give anything 5 stars.

Overall a great product ... but if you are running Windows Vista you might have issues with installing the software for this Keyboard and mouse. I had been online with logiteh several timmes and still can't run the software. ( It knocks out my audio for some reason and I have to do a system restore to get it back ) I was supose to get a call back from level 2 tech support on resolving this issue and 3 weeks later I still have not heard back.
- Everything I Was Looking for & More
     By A2EB5VNTY8XMID on 2007-06-11
The keyboard sounded nearly silent when I tried it in the store, but it's a bit noisier at home. At least my neighbors can't hear that constant CLACK CLACK CLACK I got on my old keyboards. The anti-microbial seal is perfect for keeping the keyboard clean. I have to turn my keyboard over every couple of weeks to clean out the gunk. I've had this keyboard for a year, and it still looks brand new.
I can't stand those ball mice, and just love the one that comes with this set. My only complaint is the extra functions on the left side of the mouse. My thumb hits these accidentally on occasion. I've just had to learn to grip it low on the left side.
The remote is awesome. I can plug my laptop into my wall-mounted LCD TV, plug the USB remote into my laptop, and then sit on my bed across the room with just my keyboard, and get perfect reception.
Looking forward to getting "Skyped-Up" some day soon...so the VoIP should come in handy with that. I shopped long and hard for the best wireless desktop on the market. I'm glad I chose the Logitech MX3200.
- not vista compatible - BEWARE
     By A4M3520GKBYNZ on 2007-07-30
I have vista. Purchased mx3200 to replace cheap hp keyboard/mouse which came with new hp computer. Hooked up right out of box (no instruction manual included) - mouse/keyboard worked immediately. Did not try all bells/whistles on keyboard or mouse but basic functions were ok. Then next morning I installed Logitech software - computer lost all sound. After several hours of trying to correct using L software (which did not work for other key/mouse functions either) I finally gave up and had to do a full system restore to remove L software and reinstall the old hp keyboard/mouse! Then I just hooked up L key/mouse as I did at first and did not install L software. So now I have a partially useful key/mouse. I of course can not use all the bells and whistles claimed by L and apparently will not be able to until L issues an updated software program which will be compatible with Vista. WHAT A HASSLE AND TERRIBLE MISREPRESENTATION BY LOGITECH ABOUT VISTA COMPATIBILITY. BEWARE
- Easy setup and Works great!!

Keyboard and mouse were very easy to install and they work flawlessly. Just what have come to expect from Logitech equipment.
- Very nice... if it works.
     By A1CE3RB2X5AVKQ on 2007-01-09
Very nice keyboard and mouse. Assuming it works on your PC. If it works right out of the box you're in business. If it is not correctly recognized, and you have issues with getting the proper drivers loaded for it, all I can say is good luck. Customer service, while friendly and courteous, were not able to help. The only reason I got it working was because I am an IT professional.
- love it!

this is the first time I've bought a keyboard other than that which came with a computer itself. i wanted to get rid of all the cords on my desk, and some research brought me to this puppy. having paid attention to feedback, i didn't even bother installing the software, and both the keyboard and mouse work perfectly! honestly, i love typing now, and the mouse is great. if you need a new keyboard and mouse to boot, i'd def recommend this set!

Works very well. The only thing that could be improved is that they could have included a instruction manual instead of having to look everything up on the installaton disk and make your own hard copies. I it wasn't for that I would have rated it higher. When people buy a new car, they may Know how to drive but they still need to know how to use all the new gadgets and for that they still give you an instuction manual.
- Works right out of the box
     By A3V11IBM7KNCZR on 2007-08-10
The keyboard and the mouse work great up to 10 - 15 feet although at the extreme distance there is a noticeable lag. I must say i did not install most of the software so I cannot comment about all of the keyboard functionalities but it works great.
