  • Good quality case, but a little too big for the Western Digital Passport drives

    By A2I5YICA9V5QEG on 2007-02-15
The case is well designed and made. The outer material feels durable, the inner shell soft and well padded. The overall case is well formed and seams look carefully done.

I bought this to be used with the Western Digital Passport II (black) WDXMSxxxx drives (5.1"x3.1"x0.6") and the case is a tad too big for it. The drive has a little too much wiggle room despite the elastic strap inside. I imagine the case will be better fitted for slightly bigger drives, e.g. Seagate's ST9xxxxx1U2-RK.

  • Versatile and good quality

    By A1VUN4JU731CBH on 2008-04-16
I got this case in the blue color with a contrasting bright yellow interior. The material is all-around high-quality, and the case offers excellent protection for my external hard drive(s).

Since this is a universal drive case it cannot be a perfect fit for every portable hard drive out there. I own several different-size drives and here is how they fit:

    - First generation WD Passport (silver colored, blueish rubberized bottom, Western Digital 80 GB Passport 2.5-inch External Hard Drive) fits perfectly. I suspect that this case was originally made for these drives.

    - Newer WD Passport (various colors, non-rubberized bottom, WD Passport Portable WDXMSB1600 - Hard drive - 160 GB - external - 2.5" - Hi-Speed USB - 5400 rpm - buffer: 2 MB - metallic red): The case is too long and too wide, but because of the elasticized strap the drive still fits ok provided you don't stretch the strap by putting in thicker items before using it with this type of drive.

    - Seagate FreeAgent Go (Seagate FreeAgent Go 160 GB USB External Hard Drive ST901603FGA1E1-RK: The drive is a tiny bit wide. On the other hand, because it is such a snug fit width-wise, the drive also doesn't slide around in the case. And the case still can be zipped shut with this drive.

If one doesn't have cables etc. to store in the accessory pocket in the other half of the case, this pocket can double as storage space for another drive, the case still zips shut, even with two of the largest of the above-mentioned drives in it.

I recommend this case to anyone looking for high-quality protection for portable hard drives and other electronics, such as PDAs or MP3 players.

  • A very good case.

    By A2E06HDO9IVGIJ on 2007-03-11
I brought this case for my Western Digital 120GB portable hard drive. While I physically couldn't physically see the case before buying it, I researched the whether the case would be a good fit and after getting comfortable the case would fit I brought the case. It was a good investment. The case met my expectations and I would recommend it to anyone.

  • Alternative for Western Digital Passport 160GB portable drive

    By A3IWN1A313PX7N on 2007-05-29
I can't comment on this case, but in my search for a case for my Western Digital 160GB portable Passport drive, I happened upon a case made for the Nintendo DS by A.L.S. Industries for only 9.99 and it works really well. Careful, I am not sure the ones for DS Lite will work; I bought one made for the regular Nintendo DS.

  • Case Logic Portable Hard Drive Case does it's job

    By A104CBA4A4HYOF on 2008-01-12
Small External HD Case Black I bought this case to protect my Western Digital 250 GB portable USB hard drive, as I move the drive around a lot between home and work. I'm using the hard drive to back up my iTunes music collection, so I want to take care of it, hence I purchased this Case Logic case. The case is easy to use. When you open it up, you'll find two compartments (one on each side). One has an elastic strap that snuggly holds your hard drive in position. The other compartment has a mesh flap which acts like a pocket, so you can have a space to put a USB cable and maybe a flash drive or two in a pinch. As the case is small, it isn't really designed such that you can leave the hard drive in the case during operation. There isn't enough room for the connector to fit when it is placed in the drive, without the cable putting undue stress on the connector (not a good idea - duh!). In any event, the hard drive produces some heat during operation, so you probably wouldn't want to leave it in the case anyway. My only two complaints or observations are that a real hand strap could have been provided instead of the rubber thingy for carrying the drive more safely to and from a car, and that there isn't really a lot of padding in the sides of the case. I still wouldn't want to drop the hard drive while in the case onto concrete. Maybe from 3 feet onto carpet would be survivable. I guess I expected it to be lined with some styrofoam (I won't tell Al Gore) to provide more protection. Still, it does provide a nice place to keep your hard drive and cable together, without them getting all scratched up.

  • WAY too big for my WD Passport 250GB
    By A262YYYZ1LMXN on 2008-04-02
This product is way too big for modern external 2.5" drives. My drive (WD Passport 250GB) measures roughly 5.0" x 3.0" x 0.6". Meanwhile, the external dimensions of this case are 6.75" x 4.75" x 1.75". It's ridiculously big.

Even with the elastic straps, my hard drive is loose inside the case. I can actually fit two of my drives in a pinch.

Not what I was looking for

  • Great Case for Iomega 160GB Ego Portable Hard Drive
    By A6OP55WJHY0KF on 2007-11-22
I ordered this case for my Iomega 160 GB Ego High Speed USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive (Red). I must say, I was a little alarmed when I read one or two reviews saying that this case wouldn't protect the hard drive from a fall. Still, I bit the bullet and bought it, man am I glad I did.
The case is hard and solid, and the hard drive fits LIKE A GLOVE. It's almost like Iomega and Case Logic got together to create the perfect case for my hard drive. The cable goes in a little netting flap and the drive is held in place by a wide elastic band, I've tipped the case in every direction while open and the drive doesn't fall out. True, I haven't actually dropped it to see if it would protect the drive, but the sturdy design does give me a great sense of security and I'm sure it'd hold up to anything short of throwing it out of a 2nd story window. Hope this helps.

  • Perfect for Seagate Portable Drives
    By A2EICF5K4ODTEH on 2007-03-25
The case is made of a soft, yet rigid, material which fits the Seagate ST9160821U2-RK External 160GB Hard Drive like a glove. The elastic band helps hold the drive in place while the case is being opened and closed. There is a net inside for holding the USB cable as well. The zipper opens and closes nicely allowing the entire case to open and lie flat. So far, I've purchased three drives and cases for storing digital photographs and have been pleased with both products.

  • Good for Seagate Freeagent Go
    By A1TVO9YMSQLR2H on 2007-08-04
I needed a good case for my 160GB Seagate Freeagent Go I had checked the dimensions of both the HD and the case and the HD's width was wider then the case by a few mm. I thought that I would get it and try it anyway, and when I received it, it fitted in nice and snugly and does not move around at all. Really recommend it to Freeagent Go owners.

  • Works great for the Garmin Nuvi 750 (and others I'm sure)
    By A2ECNCDVZ42CXR on 2008-06-09
I bought one of these for my Garmin Nuvi 750 ... works PERFECT! Keeps the Nuvi protected (screen facing out, away from the accessories) and holds the car charger cable and the Nuvi cradle in the other half of the case. (You do need to sort of position the Nuvi toward the top or bottom and then the charger and the "lip" of the cradle to the opposite side to "nest" it all, but it works fine.) All you need is to bring whichever mount you use (I travel with the "beanbag" dash mount). Packs easily in a briefcase or suitcase. A friend of mine has the 650, and although it and its components are bulkier than the 750, it still works (just not as "perfect" as the 750).

  • Forget this, try a DIY Case for the WD Passport HD
    By A1Q7A86ZABLG2S on 2008-01-16
Having just purchased a WD Passport 120GB HD I wanted a case that provided protection for the drive in my backpack. This caselogic case was at Walmart for $9.98 (I think) in the gaming accessories area. It seems that a Nintendo DS case/cover would fit as well. Here is a link for a cheap case too:

    http://www.genpi.com/Carrying-Case-for-Portable-Western-Digital-Passport-WD-Hard-Drive-p16346.html

However, none of these satisfied me. The route I took was also the cheapest and most convenient. Also at walmart, they have these:

    http://www.planomolding.com/content/index.cfm?siteaction=product&lineid=4&groupid=18§ionid=61&partid=221

in the fishing area for < $3. It's hard plastic and offers storage on both sides. However, in order to get my hard drive to fit, I had to dremel out the inside plastic walls. Only a little bit of work for a case that is awesome. A great snug fit for the HD, and the best part is that there is storage for flash drives and cables on the other side of the case.

  • Perfect case for Maxtor Mini HD
    By A23V4WQJILOYBQ on 2007-07-13
This case is well designed and offers excellent protection for the Maxtor One Touch Mini III external hard drive. The hard drive fits snug in the elastic strap and there is plenty of room in the netted compartment for the dual-headed USB cable and other small items. I would definitely recommend this case for anybody with the Maxtor mini hard drives.

  • It doesn't get any better
    By AVBAG03LZ0A16 on 2007-08-28
No need to rehash what has been written. This case is perfect for the Seagate Free Agent Go 160 hard drive I bought. I mean it, perfect fit and well made.

  • Case Logic Hard Drive Case - A Good Buy
    By A2KSA3VS3FDPVL on 2007-12-18
Case is good size for portable hard drives and similar size electronics (I use it for my Nokia N800). The case is well padded and the straps hold the item securely within. I would certainly recommend it to protect these somewhat delicate electronics during transport.

This is a great case for my GPS and the cords that go with it. Great product....

  • Nice Case, but a little too big for my WD Passport
    By A22T1DZ7JL2DU2 on 2007-05-15
The case is nice looking, good quality, and offers good protection. My only complaint is that it's a bit too big for my WD Passport 120GB. I have to wrap the WD Passport in a small cloth to keep it from bouncing around in the case.

  • Just what I needed...
    By A19CUY4Y3Z9T21 on 2007-05-20
Nicely made. Sturdy, protective case. Actually holds my silver WD portable hard drive AND my all-in-one camera card reader. Fits well in my laptop case and goes everywhere with me.

  • Works well but lacking...
    By AO2LMZ3X6SC3D on 2007-05-23
So far the case has protected my WD Passport HD very well. The case is actually a rigid soft case. I like the mesh pouch inside for the cable and misc stuff I carry. My only complaint is that its a bit too large inside and the Passport slides around. I put some foam under the HD to keep it in place but its a pain as it falls out when I remove the HD. All in all, I recommend this case, its small and gives good protection.

  • Not for WD Passport Drive Black
    By AG775P2S7RD5F on 2007-08-11
This Case is too big for WD Passport Black, however is well made, good quality, nice for others Drive bit bigger, be aware case like this are selling on Ebay, they have WD original case but is too big for WD HD Passport black, those on sale on EBAY were made for WD Silver which is more large, and older external drive. The Original only WD web site have it :Exterior dimensions: 5.6" x 4.6" x 1.1" Interior dimensions: 5.3" x 4.3" x 0.8"
They sale as well a nice Punch bag at $5.00 + S&H. if you bought the large
case like this on amazon, you can use the pounch WD to Fit in your drive.

  • Amazon cancelled order - no reason.
    By A1LA9VBT29YB17 on 2007-10-22
I ordered this item at the same time that I ordered a hard drive.
Amazon sent me the hard drive, but cancelled the part of the order that was for the case.
Amazon did not notify me of the cancellation.
When I tried to check on the shipping status, I discovered that this part of the order had "disappeared".
When I called Amazon to inquire as to the reason, I found myself unable to understand what being said as the person on the other end did not employ English as a first language.
I still do not have a clue why Amazon will not sell me a case for my new hard drive.

  • Very basic
    By A1E9BN8XZV879K on 2007-10-24
I bought two cases for some WD Passports that I own. They are hard cases -- no padding whatsoever. They're also slightly too large for my drive and have no way to compensate (stretching, padding). Basically, they let you keep water off your drive while in transit. I'm thinking a couple of wool socks or gloves would do a better job at shock absorption! (Heck, you could couple that with a ziplock baggie and save yourself the $13!)

  • For use with Seagate FreeAgent Go 80GB
    By A3S9EDDRCWV72D on 2007-12-11
I travel a lot for work and carry the Seagate FreeAgent Go 80GB with me. I was a bit nervous due to the shape of the FreeAgent Go and the dimensions of the case. However, all fears were diminished upon arrival. Despite the unusual shape of my portable external hard drive, this case is a great fit and perfect to protect it from any potential damage from frequent travel. The inside pocket is a plus too for holding the USB cord for the external hard drive. Great buy, great fit, great quality!

  • Case Logic Review
    By A1TCQWJX559IKG on 2007-12-18
Having just purchased a Western Digital (WD) Passport external hard drive (60 GB, Silver Metal Case), I went to the WD web site to see if they sold a case. Unfortunately, WD no longer sells the case for this specific drive. I found this Case Logic case on the Amazon web site and the hard drive fits perfectly in the case. The web net that secures the USB cable inside the case is great. Overall, this is the perfect case for this model of hard drive and its USB cable.

  • Works great for Pininfarina Simple Drive 3.5"
    By A31SIIYDU8XUE4 on 2008-02-18
I got one of these (wine red) for my Pininfarina 250GB 3.5" drive, and it works great. The drive stays snug in the elastic strap on one side, and the USB (phantom power) cable fits in the pocket on the other side. I've had it for about a month and carry it all over the place in a knapsack pouch--on planes, in cars, etc., and the drive stays snug, the case retains its soft rigidity. Seems reasonably constructed such that the elastic won't sag over time (in other words, it may outlast the drive).

  • Roomy and secure
    By AVKXWBBVR4F8L on 2008-05-29
Very nice little case! I found it can hold two hard drives, one on each side inside. Most definitely worth it.

  • does not fit
    By A5W6Z6QB7P8Y2 on 2008-08-25
I buy a Western Digital 500 GB My Book Essential 2.0 - USB 2.0 External Hard Drive and I buy it in a combo that bring these Case but it doesn't fit with the hard drive i buy, it is smaller. I don't know why they offer to sell you a combo with a case that doesn't not fit with the external hard drive you buy. They fool me, why should I Buy a Case logic portable hard drive that does not fit with the hard drive I buy?
I am not satisfy with these and next time they offer me to buy what i want adding anything else i wont accept.

  • A carrying case providing great protection
    By A3984HJX7CZZBT on 2007-05-12
This case is very good for carrying the hard disk because:
    1. It is not too big to be bulk - it fits in well to the computer bags without taking out too much space
    2. It is not too small to be useful - you can pack other accesorries in the pocket: USB thumb drive, security token, access card etc

In addition, the case provides great protection for the hard disk. Excellent 5-star buy!

  • DOES THE JOB
    By A23SF864TF1Z7S on 2007-06-07
WE WERE KIND OF WORIED GETTING THIS BECAUSE OF THE REVUES SAYING THAT IT WAS TOO BIG FOR THE WD PASSPORT DRIVES. IT'S A LITTLE LOOSE IN THERE BUT IT ISN'T ENOUGH TO BE A PROBLEM. IT DOES A GOOD JOB AND IT'S NICE TO HAVE SOMETHING PROTECTIVE TO KEEP IT IN. I'D RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE THINKING ABOUT IT. THE EXTRA ROOM GIVES YOU A GOOD PLACE TO PUT THE CABLE.

  • Perfect!
    By A1K78QMCDI4CB5 on 2007-06-26
Case works great for keeping my 2.5 inch WD backup drive and cable. Had to put the drive in a small insulated bag to keep it from sliding around, otherwise no problems.

  • Just ok
    By A3QC8Z61AN7TDE on 2007-07-20
Thouth it's be a little more cushioned for protection of portable hard drive. Will still do, though.
