As computer processors become more and more powerful, they typically generate more heat. Accordingly, air cooling solutions for processors tend to be large, heavy and loud. Ultra's X-Wind CPU coolers offer performance without being excessively loud or cumbersome. Because the X-Wind has several fins (as many as 120), there is more surface area than a typical machined heatsink, so heat is effectively pulled away from the CPU and quickly dissipated. My idle temp went from 53 to 50 degrees celcius. Many people mentioned a 3-5 degree drop after the thermal paste breaks in. Much quieter than the old fan. I have an Intel Celeron D 340, 2.93 GHz.
Not counting the fear factor, getting the fan out of the plastic casing was the hardest part (not joking). Installation fairly easy, because it was my first time I had to remove the motherboard. removed the CPU to clean off the old paste (very easy). And in case anybody doesn't know, for the wires coming from the on button write down which wires goes into which pins rather than taking a picture (when removing the motherboard). This is VERY IMPORTANT. Also look up online instructions.

This is an excellent product from Ultra. Acquired these for some old socket 478 boards of my clients. An absolutely perfect product which is designed better than stock 478 brackets in some Dell's and Sony's units I have worked on. I will be back to buy more when the need arise. Amazon and Ultra deserve a BRAVO ZULU on this one.
