I'm very happy.... By A31TT5GZM82PME on 2007-03-02
...with this purchase. I was getting frustrated with getting photos off of my CF card through the camera, and decided to give a card reader a try. I picked the Sony because of its size: the SanDisk's (which is a fantastic company) equivilant card reader was just too large for what I was hoping for. The Sony card reader is small enough that it fits inside of an Altoids tin, so it's easy to stow away inside your computer bag or where ever else you may keep it.
The best thing about the reader is simply how efficient it is. Instead of needing to drag your digital camera(s) around, you can just carry this thing around. My photos transfered to my laptop WAY faster and with a lot less holdups that through the actual camera, making for a much smoother downloading process altogether. This thing fits 17 different kinds of memory cards: virtually every kind.
Note that on the packaging it says that it takes CompactFlash I and II cards. I was a bit nervous about this because I use a CompactFlash Extreme III card - but I'm happy to say that it worked just fine with that card as well.
Excellent product from an excellent company - thanks Sony!
Beware: NOT SDHC Compatible By A32CYQL8CE15BD on 2008-03-31
I purchased this product about a month ago, and the card reader is small, lightweight, and pleasantly designed with a brushed aluminum top. However, I recently obtained an 8GB SDHC card that this cardreader could not detect. It is very difficult to find information regarding SDHC compatibility for this device, and reviews for a (nearly) identical product released in Europe claim SDHC compatibility. I eventually stopped by a local store to pick up another cardreader which was able to read the SDHC card. Unless I got a defective Sony 17-in-1 cardreader, this device does NOT read SDHC cards.
Suuuuuucks on a Mac By A168QI3X29T7ZV on 2007-08-14
Costs $10 less at CompUSA right now. But ... no matter because this reader ... is ...
NOT
... recognized on a Macbook Pro 2.2 running Tiger 10.4.10. Also could not get it to work on Parallels 3 using Windows XP on the same computer. At least under parallels the LED flashes, but the virtual drives for each slot only loaded after unplugging the USB cable! To get it to work you will need to *trick* it into working.
Stay away Maczealots. Sony is too smart to be compatible. Also, bet it won't mount under Ubuntu. Can't test until back from vacation.
Works great on OS X 10.5.2 By A342YU2E69HT34 on 2008-03-23
This device worked flawlessly on an iMac and MacBook Pro running OS X 10.5.2. I purchased it for a family member and was very impressed by it's small size and ease of use so I'll be getting one for myself as well, replacing my Sandisk reader.
Great reader By A3KLDWJ4KIFI97 on 2007-05-14

- Does It Job Well
     By A37C3BDZQY0X82 on 2007-10-11
I bought this Sony reader because it seems a little better constructed than all the no-name brands out there. This one reads a few more types of memory cards than some of the others. I wanted one that did CF cards.. Many do not anymore. I use the reader on a iMac and it seems to read / write fast. I have no regrets about this purchase. It looks good enough where I just leave it hooked up all the time too.

- Good Memory Card Reader
     By A3G58QLNL2BOD0 on 2007-06-26
It is very handy having this around. I don't have to remember which pc has the software for the camera anymore. I just plug the reader into the pc and the driver is automatically loaded. No complaints about this unit - it does what it is suppose to do.
- nice memory card reader

I like very much this product, is very fast in tranfer rate.
Besides is small and portable.
- High build quality, slightly higher price
     By AMZETJOVI8JPL on 2007-08-12
This Sony reader feels nice compared to non-brand name memory card readers because of its aluminum construction. For Sony camera users, it snugly reads Memory Stick Duos and MS Pro Duos without using an adapter. That is one big plus. I would have given the product 5 stars except the price is higher than other products who have the same read features.
- Simple to use
     By A2E2WCYUBOW868 on 2008-01-04
I used this Christmas Day, man, if life could be so easy. In a matter of a minute all my photos were downloaded to my computer. I would recommend this product for not only ease of use but, also flexibility.
- GREAT ITEM

- Compact reader
     By AURGEH4UGJUBU on 2007-07-22
After having a bunch of cheapo/freebie readers die over the years, I decided to go for the 'name brand' Sony. The other main reason I bought it over the no-name others is that it supports Memory Stick Pro Duo without an adapter. I don't know if others really would support it too but they didn't claim to and this one really does. It feel solid and is a nice compact size. No complaints other than the fact that it's about 2x the price of its competitors.
- Great Product
     By A20ZQNHIR50QYQ on 2008-01-18
Does what it is built to do. I have multi card readers on my computer. But they were slower and were not able to read PSP cards reliably. This one has never failed me.
- Nice aluminum design touch.
     By A1EKSETIBS9ETQ on 2007-12-13
Update:
It does not read the newer SDHC SD card that are like 4gb.
Previous:
My card reader is usually very close to my monitor, since I do take a few pictures and down them quite often. So the aluminum top plate makes it a one of the best looking card reader out there. It is more compact and smaller then my last Belkin card reader that still works, that couldn't read anything over 1 GB of memory. Sliding my various cards into this device is a lot smoother then on the Belkin reader. A little yellow light is always on. Come with some software that name your drive letter that I didn't install.
Performance
This USB2 is noticeably faster then the Belkin card reader, which is also USB2. I got a 512mb, 1 GB, and 2 GB SD cards and one memory stick and they all worked fine. It uploaded my 2GB SanDisk Ultra II to computer at an average of 6.01mb a second and drops to 4.8mb per second the other way around. On my 1GB generic brand, it upload speed is 5.5mb per second based on Vista info screen.
A little pricey, but it looks formal on my desktop with a solid construction and worth it.

     By A38ZRCBPRQ0SWC on 2008-07-03
I didnt give it 5 stars because i havent used it a lot. But everything looks pretty good, and the product filled my expectations. And i like the way it looks too...it's pretty similar to the picture, unlike other products whose pictures do not represent the reality. Great purchase. I totally recommend it!
