  The success of the Nintendo DS Lite brought out so many new gamers to a whole new generation of handheld gamers. Yet, for those who purchased the original DS, any of those have a set AC adapter to call their own. However, for the newer editions, you'd have to tackle a different way to plug in and charge up your Nintendo DS system. Well, this DS Lite AC Adapter from Nintendo is very convient and easy to install. Although there is one disadvantage with this AC Adapter. With this one, you unfortunately can't use this with the original Nintendo DS. Still, if you had to choose a adapter to charge up your Nintendo DS, I really recommend one from Nintendo over another company.

  Nintendo's DS Lite AC Adapter is NOT backwards compatible with the classic DS systems. Not to mention the cord is of a low quality.
  
  Gamestop/EB Games, however, sells an adapter with a thicker cord and and an attachment so you CAN use it interchangeably with both types of DS?
  
  Visit your local Gamestop/EB Games and get their DS/DS Lite charger. It may cost you a few bucks more, but it's more durable, and works with both systems thanks to the attachment.

  the AC adapter comes with the game, although the site did not make that clear...so now I have two...not sure if I can return it....tbd.

  Sorry but I had to return it because the Nintendo DS came with a power supply and we didn't need another one.

• Terrible Quality Cord

  Since I purchased the DS four months ago, I have gone through two of these AC adapters. The quality of the wire is absolutely wretched. You have to treat it like glass. I say this coming from the perspective of working and traveling with all kinds of wire adapters and chargers. Never have I had this problem with any other kind of electrical wire or cord. I haven't done anything to these wires but pack, transport, and unpack them, and somehow the insulator and the internal wires in the cord get ripped open. Nintendo ought to be ashamed for churning out such poor design. They need to make a better, more rugged adapter. Unfortunately I have not seen any alternative out there.

  The adapter was just what my grandson needed.. but be careful.. the Nintendo DS Lite is a unit different from the Nintendo DS ... I gave this 5 stars for game quality.. since I could not fill in the review without saying it is a game.. IT IS NOT A GAME... It's and adpter and those qualities do not apply.. but the Amazon people need better programmers ...

  I am happy that I do not have to search high and low for a replacement charger. My dog often eats the cord on my chargers. This is the nintendo brand one which is nice. It is only good for the lite. That is kind of sad. At least though there is no pieces to loose. It folds up flat for easy storage. I never worry about the prongs getting damaged.

  This AC Adapter for the Nintendo DS Lite is identical to the one that comes included with the game system.
  
  One nice feature is that the prongs of the plug swivel in and out. This means that, when folded in, the unit is fairly thin and easy to store. It seems well made and sturdy, even with the moving part.

  Since this is exactly the same charger you get with the Lite, it's a great back up for your other one. I thought I left mine at work and it got trashed or stolen, so I ordered a new one. Well now I got 2 of them since I found the other one stuffed in a pocket in my bag. I couldnt tell ya which is which now since they both work exactly the same. Why settle for a cheaper brand that could break or not even work. Stick with this one if you really need to get another charger.
  
  I also like how the prongs fold in so they arent sticking out when you are traveling with it.
  
  This does not work with the old DS, just the Lite.

  When my daughter left her adapter that came with her DS in a hotel, we ordered her a new one from Amazon. It was here in only a week, Got her up and running again fast.

  Good product, but you do not need this with a new DS as I was previously told. Unless you loose or break the adapter that is included in the DS package, this adapter is unnecessary and will add no features or aid in charging the unit faster. It is basically the same thing that comes with the original unit.
  
  
• Convenient and portable

  This adapter is small, light, and is excellent for travel as well as home use. I like that the prongs fold away. Be careful not to tangle or kink the wire though- the one I previously had been using (same model) had the rubber insulation worn away down to the copper wire inside, which is why we had to replace it since the exposed electrical elements were a cause for concern. I would recommend not winding it too tightly and be careful with it when plugging into outlets. While the fact that the wire is so thin makes this AC adaptor great for travel and storage, it also means that it is a bit delicate.

  Purchased this item to replace a cut cord.It was not in the package as shown on the site.It came in a yellow envelope and wrapped in clear plastic.All said it works.Be weary of the picture that is shown on the site.

  -Nintendo makes great products and this charger is no exemption
