Where Will & Jack Feared to Tread By A3MWYPZBKL1NJ on 2006-08-28
I am a self-appointed critical diva and yet I loved this film. Don't believe the critics: see it for yourself! If straight males can build whole franchises like "Porky's" or "American Pie," then why can't gay males have an equivalent? This film is funny and daring. Best, of course, is all the male nudity on display!
You can just look at the movie poster and recognize the stock characters here. But hey, "The Facts of Life," "Golden Girls," and "Waiting to Exhale" had stock characters and weren't bad. I loved the sassy, extroverted lesbian character in this film. For those who suffered from homophobic high school scenes, it is refreshing and joyful to see so many openly gay persons out in high school. When four gay friends try to lose their virginity, the obvious question becomes, "Why don't they lose it with each other?" The film does ask and answer that question. It doesn't leave the viewer hanging. There is a blind female character that some may read as able-ist. However, I think she was there to suggest "Only a blind woman would not know the gayness of the most flamboyant main character."
In too many films, straight or gay, with female leads or male ones, the main character usually has their love requited and walks off into the sunset with their beloved. I loved how Ellen's coming out episode did not have that happen. Here too, the characters make fools of themselves like real people do. They don't all walk off into the sunset happily ever after. Their bedroom adventures don't necessarily lead to permanent love, just as in real life. In a movie so over-the-top, I appreciated this dose of reality. Still, these boys in their late teens sure get to do a lot of things that are not legal for people under age 21 to do.
Straight men and women have an idea about how they are supposed to get down. However, gay men have a few options from which they must chose. I won't get explicit here, but I enjoyed seeing characters debate or brainstorm about their options. I liked that the movie does not condemn either act that males can do with each other.
Internet articles say that audience members gasped when they saw "all" of Richard Hatch, but for those who have been dying to see all of him since his "Survivor" days, this will be a pleasant surprise. He does a daring act rarely seen in non-adult films. I think the angle at which his "presentation" was shot may have been more of a surprise than what he was presenting. He is America's most famous bear, so it was great seeing this side of him. However, he married a man in Canada, so I don't understand why the film doesn't address whether he was having an affair or not.
This film is set in the very racially-diverse Southern California, so I didn't understand why all the leads were white. However, there were characters of color here. I didn't like the stereotypical Asian girl. I thought the Black character was African American, rather than Afro-Latino, so it surprised me that he called another male "Papi" all the time. As heavily Latino as Southern Cal is, it made no sense that there were no Latino characters. Still, this work is not half as homogenous as many gay media works in existence.
This movie may have stolen an idea from the Black and Latino gay film "The Ski Trip." This was a gay coming-of-age story that I appreciated as much as "My Life on Ice"/"Ma Vraie Vie en Rouen." Do see it and form your own opinion.
Very funny, but waaaaaaaaaay "over the top" in crude content. By A3DVS9Y4Z1HIDJ on 2006-11-03
Reviewers have called it "the gay 'American Pie'", but a more proper name might be "Gay Anerican Quiche" as that dish is used in the same way as an apple pie in that teen flick. And, believe it or not, that is NOT the low point of the film!
The basic plot of the film: A group of gay friends are graduating from high school, and form a pact to make sure they lose their "anal virginity" before the summer is over and they go off to college. The main character is Andy, who has a crush on a Russian teacher (played to the hilt by Graham Norton) and whose father (played by gay comic Scott Thompson) tries to keep him from stealing all of the carrots and cucumbers in the house, by buying him a HUGE buttplug. Jarod is a varsity athlete, Griff the shy closet romantic who strives for a "bubble butt", and Nico is a queeny punkish partyboy, with a blind girlfriend and a mom who seems clueless to her son's sexuality. They get advice from their bulldyke best friend Muffler, who seems to be able to seduce any woman, straight or gay. Their dates include guest stars Matthew Rush (a gay porn star), Richard Hatch ("Survivor") and James Getzlaff ("Boy Meets Boy").
To be honest, ANOTHER GAY MOVIE is often HILLARIOUSLY FUNNY in its outrageousness, and the (I'd bet 100% gay) small crowd at the theatre during the showing I attended laughed a lot and seemed to enjoy it, though I doubt any of them would have rated it higher than I did. In my opinion, the humor would register more with older gays (30+) who can identify (Been there, done that) with the cluelessness of the young main characters, as opposed to informed teens and 20-somethings who grew up in more open times and had resources like the internet. Also, I'd bet that there was at least one or two scenes most viewers would have preferred weren't there, be it the overdone bathroom humor, a naked Richard Hatch waiting for Nico to have sex with him, or the two guys at the bar with NAMBLA (a group that advocates sex with young boys) t-shirts advising Griff that he is "way too old" at 17.
Beyond the sight gags and gross-outs, the story is predictable, with a lot of overacting, scenes meant to shock rather than add anything to the film, and lots of unrealistic scenarios. But I did love the theme song, "Another Gay Sunshine Day" sung by Nancy Sinatra. :)
The theatrical film is not rated, but would be courting an NC-17 due to abundant frontal nudity, simulated sex, grahic sex talk and over-the-top S&M content (Trust me: you'll never look at Graham Norton quite the same way again!)
gay comedy at it's BEST By ANBOOQR5NVJPM on 2007-04-01
A man once said that the best therapy is when you can learn to laugh at yourself and feel good about it. This movie-for "those of us"-will split guts from being turned into laughing machines!
it is chock-full of 'inside jokes' and acted out "behaviors" that the straight world only whispers about, but WE live and LOVE to do! From naughty Twinks seducing old Trolls, to parents finding their gay teen in bed with diverse "objects," this movie changes all our old memories of growing up gay to delightful remaniscances!
To put it in a nutshell, this movie is the high school prom that we always wanted to go to, but never had the chance to go to!
The Gay American Pie By A2OOMMNJDDFDGP on 2006-11-03
I thought this movie was so out there... parts of this movie were so great because I laughed so much and loud that I could not hear parts of this movie... CRUDE yes, but entertaining.... ablsolutely!
You'll want to watch it with diffirent groups of friends to see reaction.
This movie covers every gay fable, myth or rumour of just about everything in the gay wikpedia of life. By A3Q237CXBDPABQ on 2006-12-05
I don't often write reviews, but I felt I had to put my two cents in. It's so easy to buy a bad gay movie these days. Never buy a DVD by it's cover. I always wait for the customer reviews on Amazon to find out if it's good or not. Make sure there are lots of reviews (minimum 30) with no less than 3.5 stars on average. So I felt I had to let customers know that this movie is good, so it can start building a good review history.
"Another Gay Movie" is just plain funny... and silly. It really is a gay "American Pie" type movie, which was crude too, but was very popular with the audiences none the less, (as I'm sure this one will be too).
The acting was good... no one was lacking in talent. All the characters were likeable (well maybe not Richard Hatch)! This movie covers every gay fable, myth or rumour of just about everything in the gay wikpedia of life (gerbaling, water sports, BDSM, vanilla to Belgian chocolate, Paul Lynde, Betty Davis, bubble butts, Mommy Dearest, toilet trading, over douching, pumps). You name it and the movie made fun of it.
The cinematography was good, considering this movie is low budget. The characters lived in over colour/color saturated Brady Bunch Bungalow houses (a la "Edward Scissorhands"). It's hard to believe the movie was shot in 16 days. These are some very hard working people who made this film!
If you enjoy comedy... and you want to spend an evening having a good laugh, then buy this movie. You won't regret it. It's now in my top 10 best gay movies ever!
ENJOY!
- Its about time a fresh comedy gay movie for laughs
     By A35A2YSTCDENGP on 2006-12-07
I am from Adelaide South Australia where movies like this one will take ages to be on the big screen if at all. I loved this film as all you had to do was sit back and just laugh at the so many jokes and situations that these guys go through. For a low budget film it is far better than Amercian Pie. Its is orginal and I often though to myself when is someone going to make a movie like this one. Credit should go to the actors and producers for being so natural and for the comic relief that this world needs.Just go and buy it and see it for yourself.
This movie deserves a sequel so get writing Todd Stephens.
- Life is too short to waste 90 minutes on this film
     By A3C4I8X6V1RRGC on 2006-12-16
This gay sendup of teen movies (notably "American Pie") is an uninspired road accident of a film. Its mere 90 minutes pass in what seems like hours, as one unfunny, gag-inducing gag follows another.
It trades in stereotypes so dust-covered and hoary that they're not worth playing with anymore unless you're going to do something original and clever with them, which this film emphatically does not.
There are a few funny scenes (all at least halfway through the film) and even a couple of sweet, tender moments, but they're not worth hunting for amid the wreckage.
To use a euphemism from the film, this is a steaming piece of "Belgian chocolate." It is unlikely to please even diehard fans of broad, crude parodies, or fans of those comedies in which overage actors play teenagers trying to lose their virginity. It features a number of talented actors and comedians who, I hope, will find gainful employment in better films. It also contains painful attempts at acting from people who should stick to their day jobs (such Richard Hatch from the first season of Survivor).
- Dear Filmmaker, Please treat me as an intelligent human being
     By A24QE8VGWW3L4G on 2006-11-20
If you're going to parody the countless number of straight teen comedies, at least make your movie funnier and smarter than they are. This movie is neither and doesn't credit its audience as having any intellect whatsoever.
I have nothing against lowbrow comedy, but the jokes and gags here are just plain tired. Is over-douching yourself to the point of constant crapping funny to anyone over the age of 12? Jokes about gerbils and NAMBLA - c'mon. I know I'll get hell for taking my gay self too seriously, but gerbil jokes and NAMBLA being equated with being gay is offensive. Maybe if their respective jokes were funny I'd feel differently, but they were anything but. Just stupid.
If there is a redeeming factor to this movie, it's the attractive actors, but that's really it.
- Bright Lights, Suburban Angst
     By AA0Y6M1TKHNHN on 2006-12-04
If only all gay movies were like "Another Gay Movie." It's deliciously irreverent, it's sweet and silly and sexy and funny. It's filmed in lurid, saturated colors and has charmingly simple sets. It betters the off-kilter energy of "Girls Will be Girls," "But I'm a Cheerleader," "Die Mommie, Die!" and everything else that inspired it. I suggest that this is what "Far From Heaven" should have been.
A few of the film's best moments: the enema scene, the lesbian's "This is out of my jurisdiction" line, and the sweet moment at the end of the aerobics class when the instructor invites the studious, awkward student to the bar.
A comedy like this pleases even more because of its references to wicked films like "Mommie Dearest" and "Carrie," and to the funniest scene in "The Sweetest Thing" (if only the rest of "The Sweetest Thing" had been this good). Mommie Dearest as a character is surprisingly subtle--but (have no fear!) that doesn't prevent the wire hanger moment at the film's beginning from being scary in its own way.
The film goes happily along, combining nudity, humor, and wonderfully varied characters. The four central characters are, of course, stereotypes in a film that sends up stereotypes, but here, in this raunchy comedy, they're so well written and so well played that they suggest greater depth than they do in Very Serious films.
Those looking for strong moral values in the film will want to see the glass table sequence, practically a public service announcement for ingénues everywhere. Everyone who can appreciate things witty and bawdy will want to rent--and maybe even consider buying-- this totally gay movie.
- Very Funny Gay Fest of a Flick
     By A2LW9HTWMOK3M3 on 2006-12-17
This is a well done Movie. In my opinion, it's this movie and Shortbus that are the best two, and must own Gay Flicks of the Year!
Yes "Another Gay Movie" with many real semi famous Gay celebrities is over the top, it's a comedy, it's suppose to be!
Be sure to get your money's worth with the unedited version!
Don't listen to the few bad reviews, I have to say, they're only offended because they were raised in and still believe in the same book that Jim Jones, David Koresh and all the other Cults Preach. Yes that altered and MANipulated book that's caused so much harm and human shame and suffering and wars, called the Bible, that even the Amish can't even follow because much of it contains lies about our all loving God. As if our all loving God would create such a place as Hell and a Satan and send people there for all eternity, Please wake-UP.
I can't wait for the sequel!
PS: Sorry Bible thumpers, No violence in this movie, ONly LOVE and Humor Friendships and Fun! If you want blood and violence, buy a Mel Gibson Flick instead or keep reading your Bible LOL
- Funny, but don't take it seriously.
     By A2QVNOGTT96EKU on 2006-12-27
I thought it was a hilarious movie. Definately not a family movie, but who cares. It's essentially the gay version of Not Another Teen Movie or American Pie. I say not to take it seriously because the characters in the movie do not represent the gay community as a whole. I don't believe it is offensive to gay people because the characters portrayed in American Pie don't represent all hetrosexuals, as is the same with this movie. Just take it with a grain of salt, and you will love it.
- If straight movies were gay....
     By A1OOEV1MEJKLRK on 2007-02-21
Many people find this movie too gross and sleazy. But what it is is a gay version of "American Pie" and is no more gross than that film. It's just more GAY! And just like "American Pie" it is just as dumb and juvenile.
It has some amusing scenes and some just gross out scenes but only one truly funny scene... where one of the guys has picked up a muscle-bound club junkie who does some poppers and collapses while dancing to too loud thumping club music. The EM guys who arrive on the scene [also hunky] fight over who's gonna revive him with mouth to mouth and the prep for the defibrillator is hysterical. [They use sexual lube] No sooner revived, they all instantly start dancing to the pounding club beat.... while the protagonist looks on all this in horror. Too funny. But alas, that's it.
- "Another Gay Movie" is like no other Gay Movie
     By A28U4PXOF2J77L on 2006-11-30
I saw this movie in September and I laughed so hard throughout that I left the theatre with a headache and sore throat. Yes, it is over the top. That's precisely the point. It is one long, hard inside joke. It holds up to a mirror every silly thing we do in this big bell-curve of a gay community in our pursuit of lust and dares us to treat it all as anything other than hysterical. In this, Todd Stephens functions as the Metatron from Dogma, making sarcastic observations on the human condition while we look up with stupid expressions on our faces in mid-coitis. Not to spoil it for those who haven't seen it, but the movie is unrated because there is material that would likely render it an "X" rating under the current guidelines.
A polemic for or against gay rights it is not. It is low comedy at its best. Approach it with that in mind and you will have aching sides by the end. A howling good time.
- Shocked.
     By A3EIW1S1OC6TG6 on 2006-12-12
I realize that many people thought this movie was funny. And I agree, some parts were funny.
However, I forced myself to watch this movie just because I wanted to know what all the hype was about, and I really don't think the movie was anything to build up. I'm still amazed that I sat through the whole thing.
The movie plays on stereotypes, which does not represent the community as a whole. I don't think I would ever want a straight friend of mine to see this movie because it so clearly feeds on the assumptions that build the deep-rooted hate that still exists in our society. This movie left NOTHING to the imagination, and seemed to not be a movie, but instead an expression of "how far can the gays push the envelope."
Honestly, there were times when my mouth dropped because I was shocked that this movie was going so far over the edge. I love being gay, but this movie worries me because the audience rarely sees the characters as normal human beings. All they see are sex-crazed queers (gays and lesbians alike, because Muffler isn't any different than the 4 guys). In my opinion, I don't think that represents the entire community, and instead focuses on the extremes.
If we're supposed to be moving toward equality, this movie definitely takes us back a step.
- Sad. Very sad.
     By A1GJ175X2NMIE0 on 2007-01-21
When I first heard there was going to be a gay parody of the American Pie films, my interest was piqued. American Pie was good coming-of-age teenage sex comedy with a heart...you ended up caring for the characters a lot in spite of the inspired silliness of the brand of comedy. I wish the same could be said of ANOTHER GAY MOVIE, but in putting it up next to the American Pie trilogy, it ends up looking like a comparison between a filet mignon and a cheap greasy-spoon cheeseburger. Poking fun at gay stereotypes is one thing; but in order to make it work and not insult the intelligence of even the average movie-goer, there has to BE some intelligence at the core of the movie and all its elements: story, script, acting, etc. AGM falls tragically short in all respects, unless you find the "humor" of movies like Big Mama's Place, Little Man, and the Scary Movies to be side-splitting and hilarious.
What was even more sad was seeing Nancy Sinatra associated with this turkey. This is a talented singer who had some absolutely GREAT songs in the mid and late 60's, all of which I loved. Must have been a pretty big check they dangled in front of her.
This ended up being one of those times when I thought, "Well, there's an hour and a half of my life I'll never get back." As a member of the gay community, I felt embarrassed by the absence of quality here--as if the entire project were conceived by oversexed junior high school boys. There have been much, much better gay comedies...TORCH SONG TRILOGY...KISS ME, GUIDO...LOVE! VALOUR! COMPASSION!...even the intentional silliness of JEFFREY at least had some brains behind it. But hey--if sub-sophomoric "humor" is your forté, then this one's right up your alley.
- Superb Cast in a Wonderfully Over the Top Parody
     By A328S9RN3U5M68 on 2006-11-24
Todd Stephens offers his second fine film about gay life (Edge of Seventeen was his first) and aptly titles it ANOTHER GAY MOVIE. It is a colorful, fast-paced, wonderfully silly, knock 'em dead parody of gay stereotypes boasting a fine cast of actors who know how to pull this caper off and seem to have a terrific time doing it!
Four gay high school friends make a pact at graduation that they will loose their virginity before Labor Day. Egged on by the gross lesbian Muffler (Ashlie Atkinson) the four plan their ploys in a funny session and the fun begins. Andy (Michael Carbonaro), in constant fantasy about his teacher Mr. Puckov (Graham Norton) 'prepares' himself with various instruments only to be discovered in embarrassing situations by his wild mother (John Epperson aka Lypsinka) and his bisexual father (Scott Thompson). Nico (Jonah Blechman) is so over-the-top outrageous that he believes no one knows he is gay - not his warmly wise mother (Stephanie McVay) or his hilarious blind 'girlfriend' Daisy (Joanna Leeds). Star-struck he goes after celebrities such as Richard Hatch (playing himself) to little avail. Jarod (Jonathan Chase) seems to have little trouble attracting studs like Beau (studly James Getzlaff) and Griff (Mitch Morris) is stricken with the hunky stripper Angel (the ever so buff Darryl Stephens). Each young man finds the trail to loss of virginity a trial but it all comes together 'in the end'.
Films like this are tough to pull off: audiences think they will be offended by the fairly frank and inside jokes. And perhaps with a less talented cast the movie could be off-putting. But this ensemble cast knows just how far to push the button and the result is a hilarious romp that has a lot of very worthwhile undertones. Grady Harp, November 06
- FUNNY AND CRUDE, BUT HONEST ALSO
     By AYB3CG5IVMTSN on 2006-12-04
are all the gays like these guys in the movie? to an extent we are in some form or fashion. these guys are stereotypes and if you are able to laugh at this movie then that means that you can laugh at yourself. there are some parts of the movie that are just totally crazy and constitute omg moments, but you should know what you are getting into by the title alone. i love it that there were so many gay actors that were in this movie and are proud of it. i like that this movie is not trying to be something that its not. it is over the top and over the top is just fine when it is intentional, it is only sad when you dont mean for things to be over the top. does this movie go to far? i dont think so, like i said a lot of this stuff is intentional so dont take it too seriously and if you do then you are missing the point of the movie, watch with an open mind and enjoy, this is mindless entertainment so just sit back and laugh.
- One of the funniest Gay Movies

This was a great movie, I never stopped laughing from beginning to end, highly recommended, the acting was great and the storyline was just hysterical.
- Absolutely Fabulous!!
     By AP57LXX5K1AJM on 2007-01-16
This is truely a one of a kind movie. No movie has ever been done like this one before and I doubt very seriously it can be topped! So well written & produced that there is nothing bad to say about it. It's a roller coaster ride of over the top spoofs that will leave you laughing long after the end!! You will definatley watch it over & over. There is so much going on at such a quick & steady pace that you'll miss things the first several times watching it. Excellent actors... somehow everyone in this movie was definately suppose to be in it and play the parts they play. It all comes so natural that you actually feel like you're in the movie yourself! It is just so refreshing and makes you forget about everything else for a brief time, a rare treat!!
- Bottom of the Barrel
     By AIWDJ3S85O10Q on 2007-02-01
I had heard that some of the young actors involved in this didn't do any press for it. I had assumed they were somewhat leery of being associated with a [..] themed film (another beef of mine entirely ..) but now I suspect that they saw the finished product and were horrified at how awful it is. An embarrassment for everybody involved. Graham Norton should be forced to do community service, and Richard Hatch should go to jail for showing us everything. Oh wait, he is in jail. Lypsinka seems to think he's more talented than he is, and Scott Thompson is completely wasted.
If the filmmakers had tried to come up with something new, it could have worked. Instead, they not only parody the American Pie movies, but even rip off whole scenes - only they always go one further and make a bad joke worse. Jonah Blechman wins the award for most annoying and unfunny character of all time whom we're supposed to find outrageous, but is just rather creepy. I hope this brings Blechman's comedy career to a close. Anybody who dances for Hatch in his underwear and then has an explosive scene on the toilet doesn't really deserve more work.
Truly one of the worst movies of all time, this movie aims low and achieves that goal. But is that really anything to be proud of?
- brilliant cast, brilliant theme, in fact really brilliant
     By A2IU3G5165QV69 on 2007-02-14
At last a gay spoof that captures just about every gay related theme, including all the gay urban myths we have all heard or told growing up gay! All the cast are brilliant and i take my hat off to James (boy meets boy)for playing such a great character and baring all for all us fans of B M B!
The movie is slick, funny, beautifully produced with amazing sets that totally compliment the hilliarious scenes that unfold with each new storyline. This is a film to watch with all your gay mates, you will laugh and cry, howl and hoot along with all the hillarious and embarassing moments that unfold and remind you of your own similar experiences.
It's great to be able to laugh and even better to be able to laugh at our selves. I CAN'T WAIT! FOR THE SEQUEL!

- Way over the top
     By AVGX4BYF7J559 on 2006-11-20
It took me awhile to sit down and watch this movie. Only because I am a big fan of gay movies and I wasn't sure how this would be. I shall tell you it is quite funny. Just like in the american pie movie four friends decide to try to lose their virginity. They don't just want any guys they want older college men. The four characters are the over the top Nico whos mother has no idea he is gay. (She is played by the same women who played the mother in edge of seventeen) We also have Jarod the straight acting top. Insecure with his penis size. Griff, the valeditorian of the school who wants to know how to work it. Next is Andy Wilson, the bottom boy who wants to be subdued by his teacher. His mother depicts Joan Crawford. All throughout the movie there is sexual tension between Griff and Jarod. Each one has an experience with a guy that doesn't go quite right. They use many scenes from different movies. Edge of seventeen, The Broken Hearts Club, Bad News Bears, Ect. Guest appearences by Darryl Stephens who plays Noah on Noahs Arc, Stephanie Mcvay, Scott Thompson, Graham Norton, as well as others. With such a good looking cast and all the butt shots this is quite the gay movie.
- Well why not?
     By A89TORK8VPO9X on 2007-01-28
A really smart movie with likeable characters. It spoofed every straight teen comdey with a special eye toward American Pie. Unabashedly raunchy. Not to be missed if you saw it in the theatre the extra with Mink Stole from John Waters fame. This movie was laugh out loud funny. It's really great to find a gay movie that doesn't feel it needs to be preachy and just wants us to have fun.
Warning this movie will make straight homophobes really uncomfortable.
- Horrible.
     By A2ODKRQRFSQLEO on 2007-02-12
I bought this expecting it just to be silly & funny (so no great expectations; dozens of movies could have fulfilled the requirements)...It was just something to have on TV while having a few friends over for drinks. After no more than 10 minutes we all agreed it was too painful to waste any more of our evening on. God only knows who this movie appeals to; probably only someone very young, very gay and very easily pleased. Horrid horrid horrid. Anyone wanna buy my (mostly) unwatched copy? lol
- About Time!
     By A2AS6HRPS7POGI on 2007-01-02
Gay cinema has long suffered with the stigma of 'we have to educate the straight community.' For too long, gay movies had to have a theme of AIDS or coming out. In the last year, we have seen gay cinema blossom. Movies like Brokeback Mountain, Hellbent and Another Gay Movie stay away from the cliched themes and treat gay characters like everyone else. The fact that the characters are gay is not in question. They are not persecuted for who they are. They are not dealing with death and disease. They are just teenagers doing what teenagers do. Yes, it does go to extremes but didn't Porky's, Animal House, Nerds, and American Pie? Nice to see one of these for the gay crowd!
- The Best Gay Movie I enjoyed this year
     By A1T5A3KTZ1O7FD on 2007-01-28
Michael Carbonaro did an excellent job with this movie. It isn't another coming out tale. Graham Norton's role was excellent and way overboard which only added to the fun. It was a laugh out loud movie. You can't have more fun watching a gay movie than this one.
- Best Comedy Film Ever!
     By A3FL6CIO8QIJ2F on 2007-02-10
"Another Gay Movie" is simply entertaining and extremely funny. The movie is not suppose to be Academy Award winning material, but an outlandish spoof of teenage comedies with a gay angle. The acting is great, the guys are hot, and the jokes are a mile a minute. Everyone associated with this film should be proud of the work they did in it. Not only did they have the balls to make this film, but they had the talent to pull it off. Comedy is even harder to make than drama. Jonathan Chase steals the movie with his wonderful acting and handsome good looks and director writer Todd Stephens is a true genius! The sex scenes are hot too. The movie looks and feels very Southern Californian which makes it great to watch when it's a cold winter day outside. And if you simply wanna have fun and laugh your head off this is the movie to watch. The extras are great with the theatrical trailor, interviews with some of the cast and crew, and a reading of the stage play. This will be a true classic. Way to go boys!
- Hillarious, but very "over the top" in gross scenes
     By A3DVS9Y4Z1HIDJ on 2006-09-13
Reviewers have called it "the gay 'American Pie'", but a more proper name might be "Gay Anerican Quiche" as that dish is used in the same way as an apple pie in that teen flick.
To be honest, ANOTHER GAY MOVIE is often hillarious in its outrageousness, and the (I'd bet 100% gay) small crowd at the theatre during the showing I attended laughed a lot and seemed to enjoy it, though I doubt any of them would have rated it higher than I did. In my opinion, the humor would register more with older gays (30+) who can identify (Been there, done that) with the cluelessness of the young main characters, as opposed to informed teens and 20-somethings who grew up in more open times and had resources like the internet. Also, I'd bet that there was at least one or two scenes most viewers would have preferred weren't there, be it the overdone bathroom humor, a naked Richard Hatch waiting waiting for Nico to have sex with him, or the two guys at the bar with NAMBLA (a group that advocates sex with young boys) t-shirts advising Griff that he is "way too old" at 17.
The theatrical film is not rated, but would be courting an NC-17 due to abundant frontal nudity, simulated sex, grahic sex talk and over-the-top S&M content (Trust me: you'll never look at Graham Norton quite the same way again!) Not likely to go into wide release but, FYI, the DVD release date was just announced to be November 21st.
- This is really just trash.

Funny trash, to be sure, but a total rip-off of American Pie patched together with the requisite band of misfits in a vigorously overacted and under-edited (and lengthy) feature film that had me looking at the time in between funny moments.
It sort of reminded me of Saturday Night Live, where there are moments of hilariousness bookended by skits that fall totally flat.
I was also expecting, to my detriment, a movie that parodies some of the gay films that I love (or don't.) Another Gay Movie is little more than a rehash of American Pie with a gay theme. Where were the nods to all the great gay B-movies? (To be fair, there was a nod to "Edge of Seventeen.") It would have been far more inventive and funnier to do more than imitate the "straights" in American Pie.
But, there is lots of kinda dirty simulated sex and sexual acts, Matt Rush (!) Richard Hatch, and some really cute boys in and out of clothing. So, it ain't all bad!
Certainly worth a look, kinda fun, but not anywhere near it's potential.
- Finally a gay movie without the drama of someone hating gays

when i saw this in the theater, i thought...soft core porn? no, well ,, yeah.. but overall it is just as funny, if not funnier than any other straight teen movie. and finally a gay movie that just lets the characters be gay without someone hating on them. it is a magic world that the director has taken.. maybe more directors should just make a gay movie..
