Great little speaker! By A1FTUY29OZHHW4 on 2006-11-21
I bought this unit so I could have background music during parties and other events at my house. When it's just me, I can crank it up and the sound is pretty good. At more moderate levels, it's excellent. I've tested it with heavy metal, classic rock, dance, jazz and ballads. As you will undoubtedly read when looking at similar product reviews, the bass is not very strong, but it's not supposed to be on an item of this price. I gave this 5 stars because it performs perfectly for what it is intended for. And free super saver shipping is nice too!
A Good Value By A9LATUEW5YOI4 on 2006-12-22
I was looking for a decent, inexpensive speaker for a small space - and that's what I got. The sound is good, neither awful nor excellent - about what you'd expect for its pricepoint - and I have yet to come across any distortion, after some fairly extensive experimenting with different volume levels and music genres. It's nicely compact, able to be easily toted from room to room.
What knocked a star off for me is its compatibility with the second generation iPod nano. The packing does include an adapter to support the nano (with separate adapters for first and second generation) within the docking station, but something in its dimensions is off; when the nano is inserted, it doesn't dock fully. Removing the insert and plugging the nano into the full space worked fine and it's possible to jury-rig two of the other adapters to support the nano, but it was still a moment's frustration.
Overall, the problem with the docking wasn't enough to truly damage the functionality of this product, and it's certainly something I would recommend to someone looking for a basic speaker.
Great for the price. By AUQW6UEZFC7B2 on 2007-01-23
I purchased this item based on the reviews I read, and am very pleased. It will be used primarily at work, it is the perfect size for my desk. I played it for 9hrs straight today without a problem. The sound quality is just right for this purpose.
Great investment By AZFGJZNFOQCV3 on 2006-11-17
I purchased this Ipod round speaker and I like it. However, I did return the item when I first received it because it was not working correctly. There was too much static. I return it for an exchange and as soon as I received the new one I tried it at it worked. I work in an office at this is perfect for my limited space. I recommend this item to anyone who want a speaker that will not bother other coworkers. good working item.

- Happy with the results for the value

I'm actually listening to my Ipod on this device as I write this review and I have to say I have been pleased with it. I've owned it for about 7 months now and use it in my office at work. The sound quality is good for the setting and it can get fairly loud if I need it to. I wouldn't use this as my primary speakers anywhere, but they are great for a compact work setting or house setting where you know you will never need to crank the volume. Also, at the price, its definitely an affordable way to listen to your Ipod.
- This is being returned!
     By A3K3P9UYAC3GZT on 2007-01-29
I have a new IPOD Nano and the adaptor will not let it make a complete connection. The only way it works is to remove the adaptor, but then it's loosly sitting there and will eventually break the Nano. Beware if you have a new Nano.
- Review of the IPOD Round Speaker
     By A2N2BQTISIEY1S on 2007-04-10
I am very dissapointed in this product. When it starts to plays, it makes a loud squeaking sound, and if you turn up the volume it sounds horrible. I guess you get what you pay for.
- Not for new iPods
     By A5RJPIEI70YA5 on 2007-12-30
Who knows if it works or not... Unless your iPod is older the CTA Digital IP-RS2 won't interface. Certainly doesn't work with the new Nanos with the audio jack in the bottom.
- What a steal!
     By ANA63TAX2L822 on 2007-01-31
I was hesitant to buy something so affordable by a brand I had never heard of, but boy was I pleasantly surprised by this neat little set of speakers. It sits on my desk at work. Doesn't take up too much space. Sound quality is great. Going away on business tomorrow and I'm packing this in my suitcase because it won't take up much space. Go for it! You won't be disappointed.
- Defective
     By AFM7RG4FGNGNH on 2007-03-16
The docking caused my ipod to freeze up multiple times and always caused glitches in the music. I started using it with the cable to plug it into the speakers and not dock it, and the music sounded like it was in a bubble. The unit kept turning itself off every five minutes. Returned it after 3 days of constant baby sitting just to get it to work instead of being able to enjoy my music.
- Unimpressed

I bought this speaker system to accessorize my new iPod Classic, and I returned it a day or two later. Even though I got it at nearly half the current listed price, I was very disappointed with the weak and tinny sound quality. I already own a less expensive Dynex "wedge" speaker system, which I had bought for my old Shuffle - I thought it first that it was incompatible with the Classic, but when I realized I could use it, I found I got speaker sound from it that was at least as good as the CTA unit. I also recently purchased a "iPod boom box" for the bargain price of $20 which has speakers with much better bass response - and it has an AM/FM radio to boot. So there are products on the market that are at least as good or better, and much cheaper, than this one.
- Great item!
     By AJUY98BIXYSA5 on 2006-12-17
Great item for the price. Very small and compact if you need it for a small space but has good sound. It comes with all the ipod inserts. I'm sure there are better speaker systems out there but for the price this is a great buy.
- Great speakers for the price!
     By A1DB0JFBJQ0GNA on 2007-01-12
I purchased this speaker set because I wanted to be able to listen to my iPod when I have friends over or something but I didn't want to put alot of money into one of the more expensive sets because I wouldn't be using it that often. I am really surprised by the great sound this has. I thought it would have a huge loss of bass but its very balanced. I have noticed some people complain about the volume, and I have found that if you use the cable to connect your iPod, there is a volume issue. There's a slight loss in the quality and volume when using the cable. If, however, you use the dock and directly connect your iPod, it's great and there's a volume control that goes pretty loud. When you turn it up extremely loud, there is a little distortion in sound during some of the higher/louder notes. For under $30 this is an amazing speaker set, and it also charges the iPod (if you use the dock). If you don't want to invest alot into a speaker but don't want to lack on quality..this is the way to go!
- Nice product
     By A2NR8LJEN83M29 on 2007-01-29
Item wasn't the best quality, but for the money it works great! I am perfectly happy with the sound and the fact that I can now charge my ipod without the computer. It is also great that you can use any kind of ipod with this unit since it comes with all the adapters for use with all the different ipods.
- You get what you pay for...
     By A87CKFQJ3MFZ1 on 2007-02-19
This speaker is really only good if you plan on listening to your ipod "quietly". When you play something at peak volume (which is pretty low on this speaker) you tend to get an unclean "tinny" sound. Buy this if you want to listen to music at an office desk, but it's not really good for any other environment. It's cool that it charges the ipod while it's docked and the price is low - I can't say much else in its defense.
- GREAT ITEM!...
     By AJHX167YXQZMH on 2007-04-14
...for about two months. I had to eventually return this item and get a refund. It would still charge my iPod, but the volume wouldn't turn up after those two months.
Don't buy it unless you want a big hassle returning it and searching for another one.
- A very useless and bad product
     By A1RW2Z0ZQPY7AL on 2007-01-25
This is very nice looking but very badly performing product. Initilly when i set it up it would occasionally make some noise after couple of weeks it started giving a very annoying and irritating noise. Almost a useless product, i agree its price is very attractive but its a bad product for any price.
- Doesn't work with the newer iPod Nano.
     By A387JFD87VSJUY on 2007-03-12
I was going to give this gift as a present. Decided to test before I gave it. But the adapter that comes with it for the new (remastered) iPod has a spacer at the bottom that doesn't let the connections meet unless you keep you hand pressed down on the iPod. Also there was no sound coming from the right speaker, but that was probably just a specific product defect. I did wind up returning this item.
- Awesome for the price and size!
     By A3P3LW5W8DV02E on 2007-04-02
I'd say this is a "must-have" if you have an iPod. I have this at my desk at work and it is small enough to have in a limited space. The volume is VERY adjustable. You can hear it clearly at low volumes, and it sounds okay at higher volumes. My formula:
iPod + cubicle/office + love of music = need for this product!
- Worked for about a month
     By A3I0B0IM2INYH6 on 2007-07-11
I have had this item a little over a month and it no longer puts out sound. The base will charge my ipod but not play the music. It seems hit or miss with this product if you will get a good one or a defective one. But for the money, when it did work, it was perfect for work.
- This product does not deliver
     By A2KKPPYVBCR89T on 2007-07-11
This product is unable to charge my Ipod and play something from my Ipod at the same time. Every time I dock my Ipod on this product, my Ipod battery gets fried. I can only play my Ipod with this device, if my Ipod is not docked there. And even with that, sometimes the sound is pretty good. Sometimes it is not. Please know that if you choose to purchase this item because it is cheap, you are doing so at your own risk. After all, you get what you pay for.
- Cheap Knock-off
     By A15F51Q672QSBP on 2007-07-17
This is a knock-off of the JBL - On Stage II. I purchased this speaker to see if the 3 watts per channel would sound close to the smaller JBL On Stage Micro Portable (2 watts per channel) model. I compared it with the one my neighbor has and it does not come close. While it also accommodates other MP3 players, I was surprised to learn that it does not have batteries - rechargeable or regular. It's AC only and therefore not that portable. Since I only paid $28 for it, it's as good as anything in the less than $28 market. I returned it the same day I got it ... and now I'm hoping that I get a prompt refund of my money.
- Not compatible with Nano 3rd gen.
     By AP9315GHHTZHN on 2008-01-02
This is good speaker for the cost, unfortunately it cannot hold the newest Ipod Nano 3rd generation. The audio cable is designed to attach from the top and the new Nano has the audio jack on the bottom. It works, but I have to lay my Nano on top flat instead of standing it in the cradle.
- Great for the price
     By A10GTS7AF6JH8V on 2008-02-24
I am very happy with this product. Works great and sounds descent for the price.
- Confused?
     By A2SO39U8XCSMLZ on 2006-12-24
These speakers are great for just my bedroom, they have just the right amount of sound. Im just confused, because I thought when I bought this product that it charged my ipod too? I still can't figure how to do this because the package came with no instructions. Any one help?
- Didn't work
     By A3FHQ6YDG7Y0KT on 2007-01-19
It sounded like it would be a great product, but I should have paid more attention to the price. All the other speakers of this style are about $100.00. When I got the product, I plugged it in and it worked for about 1 minute. It did that a couple times and then just quit turning on. Since there are several other reviews with similar problems, don't waste your time with it.
- Cta Digital IP-RS2 Ipod Round Speaker with Docking
     By A1DG8P2CWAQIUG on 2007-01-19
This item is a waste of your time. I was hesitant due to the low price but gave it a shot as some of the reviews were OK. Right away the ipod nano did not fit right in the interchangeable adapters. Once I got it to fit with a little trimming, the unit burned out in about 15 minutes. I was ashamed of the gift I bought on Christmas. Luckily, the return process was easy but I lost out on the shipping charges. You get what you pay for I guess.

This item arrived at my doorstep broke. All broke. It sucked.
- AWESOME!!!
     By A2Y3OB3861LC0E on 2007-02-07
I figured for the price that I paid that this would be an okay sounding system. I was pleasantly surprised. The sound from this little guy is AWESOME! I would highly reccomend it for the price.
