Fisher-Price Rainforest Bouncerx$40.00
    (104 reviews)
Best Price: $54.49 $40.00
All the wonders of the rainforest are captured for your little one in this adorable bouncer. A parent- and baby-favorite, this bouncer is full of fun, intriguing things to do for your child. Watch the tree frog and monkey play peek-a-boo in the leaves by the "waterfall," and see the toucan move back and forth overhead. Baby will love batting at the hanging toys to activate the light-up waterfall and peek-a-boo action, which is accompanied by rainforest songs and sounds. Or, parents can activate the sound effects for continuous play. After a day full of rainforest adventure, turn on the calming vibrations and your infant will be ready to relax! Great seat for baby! By ARSQ2F9U315WG on 2007-08-11
We've had this for a few months now, and it's still one of the "go-to" items in our house. Our daughter enjoys the lights and music and is challenged to reach the dangling toys with her hands. She also loves to prop her feet up on the bar;) The only minor gripe I have is that you cannot lower the volume of music and have it stay that way - if the music stops, then when it starts again, it pops right back up to regular volume. However, that is a *very* minor gripe, since the music is not too terribly loud in the first place. Highly recommended!!
Better than its predecessor, still needs work though By A2QDLQDLHW1780 on 2007-01-22
This seat is for our 3 month old daughter who weighs 15 pounds. First, I'll point out the pros of this bouncer seat. The music is wonderful. The waterfall is captivating. The colors are mesmerizing. She can sit in the seat for 25 minutes easily. The seat takes 4 D-size batteries. Unlike other bouncer seats we have used, there is only one compartment for 4 D-sized batteries. Unlike its predecessor (the Ocean Wonder Aquarium), the Rainforest bouncer keeps our child AWAKE. If we wanted our child to sleep, we'd put her in bed, not the bouncer. So Fisher Price definitely got it right this time! A++!
The cons is that the seat was used twice before it started to make this loud clicking noise from the bar. Being an engineer, I took it apart and noticed that the gears are designed to click (or skip a gear) if a child were to grab the frog or the monkey while it is moving. This prevents the gears from being stripped or the motor overheating. However, the tension on this "gear skipping" behavior is too sensitive such that after 3 hours of use, the clicking occurs from just the friction of the frogs moving up and down on the bar.
I called customer support about the clicking and they promptly sent a replacement bar. After 2 weeks of using the new bar, it started clicking. Argh! The good thing is that the new bar does it randomly. We're willing to live with the flaw and the annoying clicking from time to time for the Pros listed above.
The other con is questionable. There is much debate about the height of the toys on the bar. Being an "infant" bouncer, it is designed such that the child can grab the toys and even pull the rings off the monkey. Our daughter loves it! We do have the Fisher Price "Kick and Play" which is designed for slightly older children in that it provides more clearance between the child and the toys ... hence "Kick and Play."
The bouncer comes with a one-year warranty. So for a year, I can get replacement bars as the clicking becomes annoying. After replacing enough of them, will their engineers will fix the problem? I hope so.
19 March 2007:
The clicking has returned with the replacement bar and won't go away. I called Fisher Price for a replacement bar. While they really wanted to send a voucher for $48, I pressed to have another toy bar sent as a replacement. At that point, customer service informed me that there is a backlog of replacements on this bar till 30 April 2007. Customer service continues to be very friendly and easy to deal with. We're willing to wait for the new bar ...
bouncer By A12ZP1WORGVKXX on 2007-03-07
This bouncer model is the best available currently on the market, even though there are few flaws and room for improvement, as other Amazonians pointed out. But it does work and keeps our baby entertained, while leaving parents some much needed time for other important things around the house. Sounds and lights are easily activated by baby's movement, but volume can not be adjusted. Vibration mode could keep baby amuzed for about 1/2 hour first month, but later our baby got used to it and does not care for it as before. We also like to use this bouncer without play bar, as simple comfy chair. This way baby could listen & see parents or watch together 'Baby First' TV. I higly recommend this product to new parents or as baby shower gift.
Satisfied with mine By ACDU5YGSYPC2O on 2007-07-19
My daughter loves her bouncy seat. At first, it was the only place (other than our arms) that she would sleep. After her 3rd month she started using the toys and at 5mos we are still enjoying it. The vibration feature is another plus. One tip though the music has two settings, motion activated and continuous play. The continuous play wears the batteries down quickly. Bouncy seats really are "must haves" for parents.
Great bouncer seat By A3RWNK2BWABQT1 on 2006-12-31
i was surprised to read so many negative reviews...my 5 mth old loves this! Yes the rings come off easily, but they're unnecessary anyway so we didn't even keep them. My daughter will stay in it for not a very long time but at least 15-20 minutes. I don't think she'll fit in it at 25 lbs., but at 15 she is fine. The waterfall and moving animals are a hit!
- Had some issues...
     By A3A9L883VNJ5K5 on 2007-01-19
My son thoroughly enjoys playing in the bouncer. However, approximately three weeks after receiving the bouncer, the toy bar began making a horrible clicking noise. I telephoned Fisher Price and their customer service was great. They immediately sent me out a complimentary replacement toy bar, no questions asked. Overall I am quite happy with the bouncer and Fisher Price.
- bouncer
     By A3B564UNKDAP8W on 2006-12-27
I agree with the post above, it is made way too small for my 13 lb. son.
The rings do come off easy and it is made too short. I love the aquarium bouncer, that one is made much better.
- Not for a baby with acid reflux
     By A2MKGULSEZ8CFJ on 2007-03-19
This is a very cute bouncer chair. However, I feel it was poorly designed. It sets the baby almost laying down so it is difficult to play with the toys. In addition, our baby has acid reflux and it was not a good chair for him because it sets him back too far. We had to find one that set more upright.
- He loves it but....
     By ABHPH44QL3EVF on 2007-05-07
Like many other reviewers our child loves the chair but, after about a week the gears of the Frog slip and begin making a loud clicking noise. We took the sound and light bar back and exchanged it for another that broke in only two days. On the new one, the music will not stay off after a few minutes it turns back on and wakes him up.
I'd like to see Fisher Price add a strap to the underside of the seat to eliminate the rattle of the vibration box as they did on earlier seat as well. All in all this is great idea poorly designed and poorly executed. Fisher Price should replace it.
- Same song, different verse
     By AWR7TSMMTSCTF on 2007-05-10
Reading these reviews is hilarious -- everyone's comments, for the most part, reflect ours. We received the bouncer as a gift so aren't so concerned about getting value for our money. But we agree with/have noticed the following:
1. It does get too loud. We've put masking tape over most of the speaker holes. Function before fashion.
2. Our frog clicks too. I sort of bent it outward (away from the frame) and the problem has been resolved now for several weeks.
3. The vibration of the battery box is BAD. I will try the idea of taping it up somehow to the underside of the seat. We have arranged a temporary fix by putting a firm sofa cushion under the front edge of the chair to support the box and muffle the vibration.
4. The toys are WAY too low. Our daughter is just now three months old and she's been hitting her legs on them for weeks. We will be cutting the parrot off this weekend as it's the worst offender.
5. You should supervise your child in this chair. It has a tendency to be somewhat overstimulating with the vibration and the music and the waterfall and the constant movement. Wish there was a way to have the waterfall without the music -- again, masking tape would solve that problem.
All that being said, the chair is fun, bright, and a good place to park the child after a feeding or while tending to chores. Just wish they had tested it with a real baby.
- Disappointed with this...
     By A1EULGVEJ2D8KC on 2006-12-11
I was so excited about this item that I preordered it. I love the rainforest theme and was disappointed that it hadn't come out earlier so that this could have been the theme for all of my daughter's baby gear (she is almost 5 months).
We got the bouncer a week ago and I can't begin to say how disappointed I was. It isn't nearly as long as the picture suggests and the toys on the toy bar come down way too low. It is almost to the point where she can't play with them because they hit her legs - not to mention the rings that are suppose to attach to the bottom of the monkey - there is no room to attach them. My daughter is only 13 pounds and this is suppose to be good up to a 25 lb baby. I can't imagine if she was any bigger. And the rings come off way too easily anyways - my daughter has them both off within seconds (I attach them to the monkey's ears).
On the plus side, my daughter is very interested with everything and loves to watch and listen to everything that is happening and she loves the toys on the toy bar. But unless I got a defective model it was just very poorly constructed.
- Scares Baby
     By A1FE4D8QIB7VLH on 2007-04-20
This worked great for a couple months. Then the monkey that moves up and down started making a loud clicking noise. The gears must be slipping. My poor baby gets really excited to kick the parrot to make the monkey move, then gets scared at the loud clicking/popping noise and starts crying. Really sad.
- Cute but several problems....
     By A2AOUIPSB2YEZT on 2007-11-04
This bouncer is cute and seemed nice when I got it. However, it was not very practical. When my baby was still very small his legs hit the plastic vibrating piece. Also, the little animals on the toybar made loud clicky noises when they moved. Not very relaxing. The hanging toys also laid on top of his legs. On the box it shows the baby nestled farther up so this didn't happen, but anytime I put a baby in this they slid down further and the toys hung on them and they kicked the plastic piece. I returned this, not very comfy, even when he was still little.
- Cute but some flaws
     By A2G0LNLN79Q6HR on 2007-01-30
I just bought this bouncer and I will say the toys are way too low. I also agree that the rings come off too easily. The music and lights however are quite adorable!
- Terrible product - totally defective
     By A31QG2UJ0R2B48 on 2007-04-16
I bought two of these and had to return both of them because they both were defective! After a few days, they started making a terrible loud clicking sound when one of the parts moved up and down. This product is a piece of junk.
- Love it, despite the clicking sound.
     By A368KY5HINK6P9 on 2007-05-21
Our second child is almost 7 months old. In the course of his short life, we've owned 4 bouncers (baby papasan, ocean wonders, a blue carters brand bouncer and this rainforest bouncer). Every bouncer has had its problems. The papasan was so boring that even at 2 weeks old, he was bored in the seat. The ocean wonders sits at such a steep vertical angle that he would slip over and nearly fall out of the seat at 2 months old. The carters brand bouncer was also very boring.
THIS bouncer, however, is quite nearly perfect. It leans back just enough to accommodate a floppy-headed newborn. My son finds the "waterfall" effect fascinating. The music isn't terribly annoying, and can be turned down with the push of a button. I love that the toy bar is easily removed with one hand (the vibration function works when the toy bar is off, if you want baby to sleep). With the toy bar taken off, you can also bounce it to soothe baby.
Our bouncer (purchased dec 06) did start to make the clicking sound about a month after purchase. We called fisher price, they sent us a replacement immediately. Their customer service is great. Five months later, the bouncer is still working perfectly and has been our baby's favorite seat ever since. At almost 7 months old, our baby is 17.5 lbs, and sadly, the seat will have to be put away. We've gotten 6 solid months of use out of this bouncer, and he is still not bored with it!
- Great product
     By A5CQMF0IFKZA0 on 2007-05-28
Looks good, works well...was a little "clicky" at first (like a lot of people have mentioned) but a dollup of WD 40 made the squeak disappear forever.
HOWEVER, at 14 pounds and 24 inches long my 11 WEEK OLD's head is nearly touching the ground. I jsut bought the Fisher Price Sensory Selections Boucher and it is REMARKABLE. It is the reverse of traditional bouncers so as the baby get heavier it isn't the head but the lower body that gets lower to the ground. Had I know this sooner, I would have passed on this item. Otherwise a great product for SMALLER BABIES.
I have the Rainforest cradle swing and am buying the jumperoo next.
- May be cute, but....
     By A3TEMMYRD0KINX on 2007-07-02
My 3 month old son loved his rainforest bouncy...until...he cut his foot on the vibrating compartment...where you put the batteries into it. I am returning the product and I will not buy another one from Fisher Price. Poorly designed.
- Nice Bouncer
     By A2VFN3QE5DD3DT on 2007-05-15
Our son loves this bouncer. Other reviews say the toys hang too low, but I found that helpful when he was small. He started hitting the bird and grabbing the rings the first week! All the other toys we had were too far away for him. Now that he's 9 weeks, he likes to watch the waterfall. Be careful not to leave the sounds on the activate button if they fall asleep. Sometimes he would kick the toys and the music would startle him when it turned on. Only problem is that sometimes the vibrating makes a loud noise.

     By A39M0JYH2ZOE92 on 2007-05-15
Great product. We have twins and they both love it. The best feature is the rattle mode. The sound activates when the child swings at the hanging animals. One of the two sound bars broke, but Fisher Price sent us a replacement part for free and told us the defect had been identified and repaired.

I bought this for my 2 month old for christmas. My baby loves it. My baby will sit in it for hours.
- I bought this today
     By A5MPRB84CH7MC on 2007-04-01
But, there are 2 things I don't like. One being that the toys hanging from the bar are too low. My sons knees hit it and he is only 6 weeks old. Second being that the continuous play songs, don't actually continually play. It actually pauses for about 1-2 minutes. My son will fall asleep to the music, then it pauses and starts up again, waking him. i do love the vibration feature, which is the main reason i bought it. All in all, it is worth it.

I bought this bouncer as a marked down item at Babies R Us. It did not come in a box so I assumed it was a display because it had no wear or tear to it. It seemed to work fine at the store but when I got it home the animated frog started the horrible clicking/popping noise and getting stuck. I was going to exchange it today, but after reading the reviews here and at Babies R Us I may buy a different bouncer now. It would be a really great bouncer if not for this defect!
- Couldn't have done without this!
     By A23CID1PZFKXWE on 2007-05-22
My little one loves this bouncer so much! He is actually in in right now ;o)
It is so much fun for him! I notice that when he was a wee baby he loved to stare at the lit/moving waterfall. As he grew he aimed to reach the hanging monkey and parrot and now at 7 months he grabs them. Oh and the moving animals near the waterfall are too cute!
The music is fun but be warned, it will be embedded in your head!! I find myself humming the happy little tunes while cleaning the house or waiting n line at the grocery store.
A negative is that is eats batteries! But then again, most toys like this do.
To round this up, I am VERY happy with this bouncer and will, without a doubt, use it again for child #2 :o)
- BE CAREFUL
     By A189HPC6WYQB03 on 2007-09-21
I BOUGHT THIS BOUNCER WHEN MY SON WAS SIX MONTHS, HE IS SEVEN AND A HALF NOW AND HIS FOOT WAS TRAPED IN THE BIRD'S SWING TWICE, AND THE SECOND TIME IT TOOK ME A WHILE TO FREE HIS FOOT AND INJURED IT. THAT WAS REALLY SCARY FOR ME. SO PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN YOUR CHILD IS OLD ENOUGH TO PLAY WITH HIS FEET. IT COULD BE A GOOD BOUNCER FOR BABIES UNDER FIVE OR SIX MONTHS
- Fabulous Customer Service!
     By A3OS1BIA6YR4GM on 2008-02-14
My son absolutely loves his Rainforest Bouncer, unfortunately, when I put him in it this morning and turned on the toy bar it started making a terrible clicking noise. I called Fisher-Price customer service and couldn't have been more pleased. The lady I spoke with was very nice and in less than 10 minutes had a new toy bar on its way to me free of charge.
- I Don't Really Love This One - Could Be Better
     By ADTQGDXT5HKNS on 2008-02-25
I have to say I don't really love this one. My daugther who came with me to register for my shower was really wanting this for her little brother. I was really wanting the Baby Papasan bouncer because it looked much more cozy and comfortable. I should have gone with my gut feeling on this. First of all, I think that for a new baby this is much too upright. You cannot adjust that part of the bouncer at all. It is just really upright and that's all there is to it. They should have really considered that there would be very young babies in this because after all, that's the time when you need a bouncer the most. Also, I feel like it was way too stimulating at times. My other kids would come and turn it on while my son was in it and everything would go off at once. Also, the little red frog on here was so annoying. It gets stuck and just clicks and clicks. You really can't fix it. Finally, my daughter did something to it and it has stopped. I could not figure out how to make it stop though. My son does seem to like the monkey and the parrot, but as he got older I felt like he got a little more frustrated because they are always "in his way." When he is in this there is so much stimulation going on and he cannot see over the bar to interact with anyone. I hardly ever use the bar any more, but I still just wish that I had registered for a different one. Not a great product, I feel like Fisher-Price could have done more with this instead of just adding every toy and sound they could to it, not to mention your little baby is practically sitting up like a full on adult.
- Great but...
     By A1E29194QNFHFG on 2007-05-03
My son loves his bouncer. He doesn't actually bounce by himself yet, he's only 4 months old, but he loves to kick with his feet and grab the toys. The toys are a little low but it doesn't bother us.
The only thing I don't like is that I can't turn off the music and leave the lights on. It turns off for maybe 5 minutes, then it comes on by itself.
My son doesn't like the music/forest sounds. He starts crying 5 min after listening to them. He loves the lights though.
I tried adjusting the different music settings to totally off with no luck.
We had a problem with the moving frogs. Every time they moved up and down they make this loud, continuous clicking sound. I had to take the unit apart and disable them. My son never paid attention to the frogs anyway.
All in all it's a good toy. It really keeps my little one entertained for about 30-45 minutes at a time. He's so quiet sometimes that I forget he's in there.
