Take your pup for a ride By A3L663GJTH3EP2 on 2007-02-24
I have a large, (80 pound) spoiled dog who thinks he's a lap dog. He also thinks he needs to go everywhere I go. After I sold my Ford Explorer and bought a Jeep Wrangler, I had a hard time keeping him in the back cargo area. Fighting to keep him in the back while driving was just too dangerous, so he had to stay home. I was cautiously optimistic when I found this product on the internet. I liked the idea of a non-adhesive, non-permanent mount, but I was concerned about how it might fit on my seats, which are high buckets and do not have a headrest that raise and lowers. The price was right (compared to $60.00 net barriers), so I took a chance.
I received the barrier today. It took no more than 5 minutes to install. Very simple installation with quick release connectors. Sturdy material and straps. It flexes with the seats to accomodate varying seat positions. I will probably leave it installed most of the time, but it would take about 2 seconds to pull it up over the seats to remove it without even unhooking the straps. The straps are plenty long enough to go around a non-adjustable head rest. Our maiden voyage went very well. Puppy stood with his head looking over the top of the barrier for about a block, then he laid down. The barrier is long--down to the bottom cushion of the seat. It would not be easily climbed over or tunneled under.
Very effective. Best $6.00 I have spent in quite a while. Exactly what I needed.
Safe travels By A1W3GOMXOSLF5A on 2007-09-12
This is a quality product. It's genuinely easy to install, and provides an effective way to keep your pets in the back seat. It works for both our Golden Retriever and rescued mutt with containment phobia.
A bit more than you would expect for the price By A3L9PFR2U76LMY on 2007-10-26
I was looking for a barrier and there are a lot of them out there. They all looked like they would do the job so I decided to start with the cheapest one. The barrier is neither flimsy not heavy duty. Smaller dogs and particularly persistent dogs can find a way under the barrier. If you have a four door car (which I don't) the straps could probably be tightened up to keep them from crawling under. Its short enough that really big dogs can try to climb over (including an 80 pound Great Dane puppy). I don't think they could make it over but it causes a big enough commotion that driving wouldn't be safe.
Not bad overall. I paid about $13 with shipping but it is worth about $15.
It worked, sort of, for awhile By ALP8KAETEDN on 2008-07-12
Outward Hound Front Seat Safety Barrier - Black
Our very determined 80 pound lab mix was happy enough to sit in the back seat of our sedan and just hang his head over the barrier to keep us company. That was fine and made for safer driving. However, one evening we left him alone in the car but within sight of us for about 2 minutes. In that time, he vaulted over the barrier and ripped the straps off of one side of the barrier.
It was a good experiment, and not too pricey, but if you are going to leave your dog alone in the car at all, unfasten the buckles to let your dog come into the front seat without destroying the barrier.
A Little Small By A2HYQR539GZECW on 2008-01-18
My dog chewed the first barrier I had between the front seats. So I decided to spend a little less and try this one. The material was fairly sturdy but it is a little short and he was able to just pop his head up under it and had he not been tethered to the back seat, would have been up front with me. I tried it since was was so inexpensive but I will now buy the brand I had before.
- cheap and effective!

Easy to install and incredibly reasonable in cost, I figured this little cloth barrier was worth a try. it works like a charm, keeping my front seats paw-free. An excellent buy.
- It works but...

It works somewhat, it's small and it looks nothing like the picture. In the photo is looks like the barrier hugs the seat and is somewhat V-shaped. The actual barrier is a very small rectangle and would not stop a jumper or stubborn pup.
- Doesn't work for me...

and my 40 lb dog Chaz. He can get under it and over it pretty easily... it does help a bit while you are driving from having his head poke through the seats, but does nothing when the car is parked. It's cheap though, easy to install, and works a little, so I give it 3 stars...
- Works-but could be much better!

I bought this to keep our 84lb golden retreiver from trying to get into the front of our minivan. It works for that purpose, but the straps aren't really long enough to fit properly between the two front seats. The flap of material also doesn't go all the way to the floor, so smaller dogs could easily go underneath it. Having said all that, it does keep our dog out of the front seats, so both the dog and driver are safer.
- Too short for my car.
     By A3H8LXMGSLRLBC on 2008-08-15
This barrier was too short for my car. When I fastened it to the headrests it left a gap at the bottom since I have no center console. Great concept but not for my car.
