  I bought 2 of these, one here when I had a survey coupon which reduced the price by $10 and one on ebay for half of retail, and find that they are totally worth it!
  
  First of all, the price is justified by the fact that you get another USB cord with it. At first I thought 'hey, what do I need another USB cord for?'...Well, it does come in handy because I just keep one of them hooked to my computer all the time and I take the other one with me for convenient, away from computer, charging. That way the one is always where I need it when I want to download more music and the other one is always ready for charging away from my computer.
  
  I got a full charge in less than 2 hours with the adapter. I love the fold-away plug and it comes in a nice, tidy box that you can just keep the plug and the usb cord in so that everything is together and easy to find, or to pack in your travel bag.
  
  This, along with a nice zcover skin, is a must-have accessory for your iPod!

  No way am I purchasing this for my iPod. I would love to be able to charge my iPod away from my iMac, but I refuse to purchase this. This should of been included in the box. It is a tremendous ripoff to buy an AC adapter seprately (and at $30), but then again, I'm sure Apple is making a ton off of this gimic, but I refuse to contribute. I can see not including a dock, A/V cables, etc, as those aren't essential iPod accessories. But an AC adapter? Come on. Bad Apple. Bad!
  
  On the plus side, this AC adapter is smaller and comes with an iPod to charger (or iPod to computer) cable, which the previous model did not include. It's still a ripoff, though.

  What costs $5 to make but sells for $30. Well this over priced peice of plastic from Apple. Apple is a greedy company. they make a profit of 75% on this. i'd say go for the alternative, bur if you want peace of mind ordering from offical 1st party Company like apple, then go ahead it's your money.

  I will have to give Apple a backhanded compliment on this product, as there is just not much here for the amount of money they charge. YES, mine has worked perfectly since I bought it. The charge is slower than when you charge with your computer, but many times I just need a charge, and there is no computer handy. I would recommend this charger to anyone with an iPod, it is a nice clean looking charger, and you can be assured it won't DESTROY your $200+ iPod which should be everyone's concern.
  
  Apple is making billions on iPods, Macs, and iTunes, why should we expect them to be reasonable when pricing a charger that should be included with the iPod to begin with. No, you can be assured, Apple is not going to cut anyone ANY slack, that is why the Apple iPod charger is the most expensive charger, Apple is GOING TO MAKE THEIR MONEY!

• Cord legnth is WAAAAY too short for the money

  I think you could do better with another adapter. The cord is waaaay too short for the amount of money you'll pay for it. With the very high price Apple charges for this adapter- they really could have been a little more generous with the legnth. I'm very disappointed. Save your money and buy a generic brand.

  Like most Ipod owners have already said, I agree that this device is both convenient and useful (hell, I own one)--but at an outrageous $30 for such a small piece of plastic it's almost not appealing enough to purchase. I only got it in the first place because I knew I wouldn't be toting around my Mac laptop on trips as much as I'd be taking the Ipod. Though it serves its purpose quite well, I also agree it should have been included with the Ipod purchase, or at least go down $15-20 on the price tag. $30 for such a trivial item is hardly necessary! To be honest, there are probably less expensive alternatives out there. Sorry, Apple.

  Yes Apple is making money off this by having it be $30 but i have bought the other chargers and used them for testing at my college. I find out that the others are cheaper but you get what you paid for....cheap nockoffs that will fail to function in about 3 months on average.This charger hasnt failed yet and its been a year but the worst alternative charger is the one by Sonnet...do not buy this piece of junk! Just spend the extra $10 it is worth it trust me!

  It is better now that it is smaller. Apple made a wise decision to include the USB cable instaed of having to buy a seperate one for twenty bucks. It is also very helpful because it charges the iPod way faster that through your computer.

• Does Its Job, But Why the Extra Cost?

  This iPod AC adapter does its job well; it charges my iPod safely like it's supposed to. What I don't understand is why Apple no longer packages an AC adapter with their iPods. Well, actually I do understand why: $$$$$. When I bought my 4th generation iPod two years ago, it included an AC adapter. Thankfully I kept that adapter so I personally don't have to buy another one (this one is for my girlfriend). $30 for a simple adapter is ridiculous.
  
  One nice thing about this item is that it does give you an additional USB wire so that you can leave your iPod's original wire with your computer, and not have to use it with the adapter since the adapter has its own. I wouldn't go with a non-Apple charger just to be safe, but man, Apple is getting a deal out of this product.

  I'm one of those guys who would prefer to pay a little extra money to get the "official" Apple product instead of the cheaper imitation Apple product. So buying this didn't bother me at all. I like the smaller design. This is my second USB power adapter...had to get another one because with all the iPods in the family, one just wasn't enough. I also like the fact that this comes with an extra USB cord. Sure, I'd love it, too, if this came with the iPod, like it used to way back when. But times have changed. And I'm willing to pay a little bit more to get a quality product like this. At least I don't have to worry about frying my iPod with some second-rate imitation product. Apple rules. And so does this USB power adapter.

  The USB Power Adapter charges any iPod that is plugged in, just as expected. There are many other more affordable options of products from other brands to do that, but with this one from Apple, you're always sure that it will never damage your loved one. • Awesome for the shuffle

  This charger is great for the Ipod shuffle. Most Ipod accessories require an adapter to use the shuffle since it uses a USB connection. Because this already uses a USB connection, it's very convenient. I keep this in my kitchen for easy charging. I agree with the other reviews though, this would not be handy for any of the other types of Ipods.

  I'm happy with this product. It charges my iPod quickly and the cord that came with it was a lifesaver since I was given my iPod without the factory accessories. Just the cord was more than half the price of the charger and I'm glad that I went this route. I wouldn't use a knockoff. At the cost of replacement for an iPod it's worth a few bucks to keep from hurting something.

  This product is great for people who have an iPod, and need to charge it in the absence of a computer. iPods these days don't come with an adapter, unlike the "old-school" 4th-gen and older iPods that came in a cube-shaped box instead of a slim box. One plus is that the plug can be removed for easy adaptation with the international kit.

  The web site says this adapter is compatible with the iPod Shuffle 2GB (2nd generation). It is not. The part that plugs into the shuffle is flat - perfect for the other iPods but not for the 2nd generation shuffle. The 2nd generation shuffle doesn't not have a flat insert only a small round one for accessories. Bummer. I gave this product 4 stars even though I have not been able to use it, I just find the web site has wrong information.

  I used the Apple iPod USB Power Adapter almost immediately. I travel to many different countries and used the adapter in Egypt and then 2 weeks later in Tunisia with great results. I love it!!! Works at home too.

  I bought this to charge my iPOD when away from my PC. However, I found that all of my other USB portable devices can use this charger as well. It represents a good value and provides exceptional flexibility with the detachable cable. I use this a lot.

  I have an iPod Shuffle and this charger works like a dream, it's great not to be tied to my computer.
  It's fast, compact, light weight, and does exactly what it's supposed to.
  I do wish Apple would include it with the Shuffle or its other iPods, however the nice thing about it is when I upgrade it will work with the new iPod.
  True you can find much cheaper chargers but I'd rather spend the extra money for piece of mind, I don't want my Shuffle fried.

  Does the kid even use this? He's not awake to ask. I haven't seen it since I bought it. Perhaps it's not needed? I've read the other reviews and honestly can't add anything good or bad...just that it arrived well packaged and got here pretty fast.

  This product has uncluttered the usb port on our hard drive. My teenagers can just plug it in to a wall socket where ever they want, which is especially good when we travel. Great accessory and supplier.

  I bought two 8GB ipod nanos around christmas, one for me, one for my girlfriend. I didnt want to have her or me having to leave the ipod connected to the computer so I bought two of these from Amazon. The product does just what it is meant to but it wasnt included with the darn iPod. I know its just another way for Apple to milk more money from the worlds most popular MP3 player, but COME ON!!! The only saving grace is that it comes with its on sync cable that you can leave connected to the power adapter so you dont have to use the one that came with your ipod. You can atleast keep it near your computer.
