It works, but not very well. There are better solutions. By A2Y08KC0T285DW on 2007-10-12
I bought and compared TuneJuice against two other iPod power sources that use disposable batteries. TuneJuice was the least effective and least convenient, but it did help somewhat.
TuneJuice requries four batteries, versus one or two for the Turbo Charge units I tested. The other units could recharge the iPod, whereas TuneJuice merely slows the rate at which the iPod's battery runs down so you must keep it connected continually. The iPod doesn't actually recognize TuneJuice as a power source.
When TuneJuice is connected, the iPod either cannot display its battery level or it gives inaccurate readings. Consequently the battery level may suddenly drop from "full" to "empty" without any warning.
TuneJuice can't power the iPod's if its internal battery is so low that it demands an external power supply. The iPod doesn't recognize it, can't recharge, and won't work.
TuneJuice doesn't take advantage of the full capacity of its AAA batteries, and stops working when the batteries are about half-empty. (You could use them in some other appliance that isn't so finicky.)
Despite its limitations, TuneJuice will modestly extend the life of a well-charged iPod. It's better than nothing, but certainly inferior to some other choices.
This is NOT what you think it is By A1D8I8AXZ9NY22 on 2007-05-24
This is NOT a backup battery for your IPod. The TuneJuice2 will only work if your IPod already has a charge. To quote from the packaging "..an IPod with a completely discharged internal battery will not be able to make use of TuneJuice's battery backup capability". So if you have visions of attaching TuneJuice2 to your dead IPod and getting unlimited playtime by just popping in new AAA batteries, do not buy this product!
The text on the Amazon web page for TuneJuice2 says "Ever run out of iPod battery without a power source in sight?". I think if you buy this product you will realize how misleading it is.

Great shipping. Very fast. Useage is easy and battery life extends much better than the TuneJuice 1 did. Thank you!
Lifesaver! By A112NLX0Z2JCYQ on 2007-05-29
Great little backup to have -- small, lightweight and ingenious! A must-have. I found that out when I DIDN'T have it on a 15-hour flight home from China and couldn't listen to my iPod. I was miserable. Never again!

wroks great when used properly. Start using it before your iPod battery completely runs out.
- Just so that you know what this is...
     By A3FW3P9CKXSDXQ on 2008-08-15
This product makes an electrical connection between 4 AAA cells and the input to your iPod. This should strike many as strage, because the input to your iPod is typically less than 1.5 x 4 = 6v. It's more like 4.2 or 5 volts. I bought mine on NewEgg and realized that there's a non-refundable disclaimer somewhere, so I can't send it back, or I would. Among the side effects -- it adds a low but distinct hissing sound to the playback. It's not a huge deal because of how low it is. The other problem is more worrying -- sometimes your song gets garbled like it would if your CD or LP record would get stuck on the player. This has *NEVER* happened to me on an iPod, so it was horrifying when it did. It came back to normal the moment I unplugged the battery backup. It doesn't happen all the time, but it's enough for me to trash this piece. My iPod is not worth the experiment...
- A lifesaver!
     By A3ATIV520VE4H2 on 2007-06-26
This little gadget was a lifesaver on a two-week trip in France and Morocco where I didn't always have access to a charger. My only minor complaint is that with it plugged into the bottom of my Apple 30 GB iPod video Black (5.5 Generation), I couldn't use my iSkin Claro iPod 30GB Video Case's kickstand feature to stand it up while I watched videos on the plane. Other than that-- perfect!
- Great Product!!

This product works just as it is supposed to, nothing snazzy just an awesome gadget!
- Great for long flights
     By A2G8ECH4LT1BP0 on 2007-10-18
Works perfectly. I used it on flights to and from Russia and it was just what I needed. Just be sure to bring plenty of extra batteries - especially if you are watching videos.
- Better The Product Package Says it is!
     By AFLNR4L8VR946 on 2007-12-25
The package says it works for the older models, not true, it works for my 160 gb Ipod. Sure you need to charge it while there is still a power source, but all you have to do is watch for a low battery and plug it in. It is a great on the go charger!
- TuneJuice2 - No Juice
     By AC8LUSKHZN4VS on 2008-02-23
The unit was recieved with flat batteries, no surprise. Purchased new batteries and when you plug it in it will push your battery indicator to full but two songs later the battery indicator is down and draining fast. Stay away from this device. It is absolutely useless.
- Not as good as expected.
     By A27HXAU2FNJG4G on 2008-05-19
I purchased the TuneJuice 2 because a review I read said it would work with the iPhone. I needed it because I was flying cross country - twice. I wanted to watch movies on the plane and while waiting at the airport, and I know that the iPhone battery wouldn't last 10 hours.
When plugging in the TuneJuice 2 the iPhone states that the device was not made for the iPhone - and that I should turn in Airplane mode. Not a problem on the plane, but not desired in the airport waiting to board.
The TuneJuice 2 does not charge the iPhone - which I knew, but it was supposed to maintain the iPhone's battery level. What I found was that the device slowed the battery drain while watching movies. Also - because of the short cord, the TuneJuice made it uncomfortable to hold the iPhone during the flight. I either had to place both the phone and battery on my lap and look down - or hold both up in an unnatural position.
Finally - there was no indication anywhere of when the batteries in the case died - so halfway through the flights, the iPhone discharge quickly.
Pros - The TuneJuice 2 did help me watch movies on my iPhone during cross country flights.
Cons - No battery level indicator / Doesn't charge phone or boost the battery at all - only slows iPhone discharge rate / Uncomfortable to use.
- Not compatible with Touch 2G or IPhone 3G
     By A19MHTNGR8OMII on 2008-09-18
I can confirm that this product is definitely not compataible with the Ipod Touch 2g (wrong charging voltage causes error message), and I've also heard it won't work with the Iphone 3G.
- Not worth it
     By AIZHCBCR0H8DF on 2008-10-06
I bought this right before a long flight. It only slows down the drain on your ipod rather than substituting for the ipod battery. You also should check to make sure that the batteries have good contact as they shift in the case and then they do not work. You must hold the ipod for the entire time since it connects on the bottom and does not allow you to use a "stand". It really was not worth it.
- Doesn't work...nuff said
     By A13VZQ17Q2DLZI on 2008-10-13
I just about threw this thing away until I read other people's reviews - so apparently it was never meant to chearge an Ipod, it only slows the rate of drainage??? What a piece of junk... maybe I will throw it away after all........
