  • Nice!!

    By A2BT2L9MCZJBLC on 2008-01-06
I bought this recently for a camping trip in the desert where there are no facilities. Honestly, I'd never even heard of a "shower tent" before until I was searching around amazon.com looking for anything that could help make the trip more enjoyable since I would be tent camping for 5 days. I'm really glad I bought this and it was so nice to be able to take a "real" shower while hanging out in the boonies.

I did the trial set-up at home (highly recommend) and when I got to the camp site, I had this thing up in 15 minutes. I did have to use the guy lines to help stabilize it but I think that was because the ground wasn't completely level. I didn't use the rain cover at first, but in the end, decided to put it on because it seemed to add stability to the unit. Also, I didn't think I'd need to use the floor because I was on sandy desert ground...but I should have put that on because I was soon squishing in silty-slippery sandy desert mud in no time. Live and learn.

The included 5-gallon solar shower is great, but I found that filling it all the way up was a little much for the time of year and amount of sun available...my first shower was cold! But subsequent days, with less water in the bag, the temp was just fine. However, keep in mind that these types of shower bags are still gravity-fed, so you'll be bending over to get your head wet, body rinsed, etc. I think for the next trip I'll add a hot-water-on-demand-shower-pump to my car-camping gear.

Overall, great product, well made, sturdy and easy to assemble on my own sans help from hubbie. Keep in mind, though, this is a heavy piece of equipment and likely not something you want to hike-in with for any great distance. Great for car-camping, though.

  • Great outdoor shower shelter.

This shower shelter is a great size, plenty of room to stand up and move around, and I was able to put it together easily by myself. It is a sturdy shelter, but the mesh pockets that you hang inside to keep toiletries in seems a little flimsy.

After trying a couple of other brand/models it is a real pleasure to use the TexSport. Goes up easily & is very sturdy when pegged down correctly. Well designed & the 'extras' such as poly floor, towel bars, shower caddy, etc., are great. I like this unit best of all similar items available.

  • Awesome Shower

We took this shower on a camping weekend for nascar race in sept, and it worked just fine. I set it up ahead of time in the yard when we got it, so I would know how to put it together at the campsite. It takes a few minutes to construct, and is plenty big enough. It had no problem holding a 5 gallon water bag which was filled up all the way. I heard of other showers falling over, this one will not fall over with the water bag on it. We didn't even stake it down due to the ground being hard, and it still never blew over. The towel bar on the outside comes in very handy. The shower caddy works great to hold all the stuff you want. Probably would be better if it was a hard plastic one, but I understand why they make it mesh, so it can roll back up and go into the bag for camping.
I highly recommend this shower over any of the other flimsy ones out there which will leave you standing at the campsite in your birthday suit while rest of the camp ground checks you out. haha.

  • Do you really need it?

    By AZ2IQ6HZQ32TI on 2008-04-07
We purchased the shower/shelter combo for out porta potty and for showering. It works for both. On the plus side the zipper works well, there is plenty of headroom, two towel racks, a floor cover and it comes with a place to put your toiletries. It was fairly easy to assemble but when we were disassembling it for the second time the top plastic bracket broke. It did not take much stress for it to snap. We still will be able to use it but it is disappointing that the plastic is not sturdier. The metal sections are okay but the connectors are fairly useless. Overall it works as a basic shelter but long term use may destroy it.

  • Camp Shower
    By A3OO3XS7YNLQDT on 2008-03-07
The shower tent set up quickly and was pretty sturdy. It's pretty big inside too. It leaned somewhat when the wind picked-up so I used the stakes and guy wires to stabilize it. We used it for showers and as an outhouse with a Pett toilet.

  • not what i ordered

i ordered the deluxe camp shower from fogdog, they sent me the regular camp shower. i was very upset and disappointed with my experience with this company.

  • Rip off seller
    By A28VRHV4ET8UR3 on 2008-07-14
The seller in my case was Fogdog, just in case sellers change. Trust the other reviewers they do not ship what you order. The shelter pictured is a nice big free standing green and grey shelter with a fly. The shelter you get is a piece of black plastic you hang from a tree that you can buy for $5 at the hardware store. I was planning on using this on an upcoming trip so basically I was counting on this item. This seller has let others down as well I would avoid them.

This is a rip off seller or someone with poor inventory practices. I'll edeit my review to reflect how well their return policy works. I had to give one star because it will not let me give zero.........

Edit 8/16/08 - I returned the product at a cost of $7.73. They only credited me the price. They did not credit me the $17.89 shipping and handling that they charged me nor the $7.73 it cost me to ship the wrong item back. In other words it cost me $23.22 for their error.

Do not buy anything from Fogdog.

  • another rip off

I also ordered the deluxe model, or so I thought. It took so long to get here that I contacted Amazon and Fogdog and cancelled. My cancellation was confirmed and then the ordered still was shipped. I also got the basic trash bag to hang from a tree not the nice tent pictured. It will be returned ASAP. I ordered the deluxe shower from Texsport directly, received it in 4 days and absolutely love it. We have very nice hot showers which made camping even better! I am ordering two 2 1/2 gallon bags to use instead of the 5 gallon. We never needed that much water for two showers and a smaller bag will be easier to get up onto the hook. We love the deluxe model but that other thing is just a cheap tarp like we used to use years ago. Watch for bait and switch from Fogdog. I do see now that the ad on Amazon has changed and shows the deluxe model for 69.99 and the basic is actually down to 9.97 (still too much).

I will never do business with Fogdog ever again. I received a cheap shower tent, called Fogdog and they said they had the incorrect picture on the site. They sent me a pre-paid return label but never refunded the amount I originally paid to have the item shipped to me. This whole fiasco ended up costing me $17.49 for no item. And I am very disappointed that Amazon did not reimburse the $17.49 shipping and allows Fogdog to continue selling here.
