• Great emergency power

  Works perfectly. I also own the basic "Turbo Charge" which I used for my cell phone. This one is a bit better, as it's battery compartment will accept rechargeable batteries (the "Turbo Charge model that I have for cell phones is too narrow for the slightly wider-diameter rechargebles). I use the iTurbo instead of the Turbo Charge now for my cell phone as well as iPod. I called the good folks at Turbo Charge and asked if this was safe for the phone (they guarantee it is safe for the iPod); they suggested that I should use each device for its advertised purpose, but failed to provide technical data (that I requested) that would indicate there were differences in the units. It seems to work fine for both so that's what I'm doing. Love this unit!

  While you can charge the ipod with a single AA, it's VERY slow. The battery gets hot while charging, and when its done, the ipod only gets about 25-35% charge (from empty). To get a fully charged ipod, you need to repeat 3-4 times. Useful but not convenient.

  I've been looking for a device that would allow me to actually charge my iPod with AA batteries, not just extend the life. I have a 15 hour plane ride in my future and such a device will be essential for my video iPod. This charger is EXACTLY what I was looking for. It actually CHARGES the device with only one AA battery. Now I'll be able to watch movies and TV shows all the way across the Pacific ocean.

  I bought this to recharge the battery on my iTouch during flights. The iTouch battery is weak when you are using it to watch videos. I used this on a recent 9 1/2 flight to recharge the iTouch and it worked great and fast. I recommend using lithium batteries for the fastest charge.
  
  
• Don't waste your time or money

  I thought this would be a convenient product to use when I need to charge my Ipod, boy was I wrong. First off, you will only get a complete charge if your battery is more than half full. If your battery is almost dead dont waste your time using this charger. Secondly you will have to change the battery more than 5 times, and even then it may still not be completely charged. I went through 5 new batteries and my Ipod was still not completely charged.So if you have the time and the batteries then go for it, otherwise get a charger that you can plug into an outlet.

  It would have been helpful if the instructions had mentioned NOT to use a rechargeable AA -- mine is now stuck and the device is worthless before I even had a chance to use it. I am PISSED.

• What a piece of junk

  What a piece of junk, this thing hardly works at all. I never write reviews but I felt compelled to do so for this horrible product, so no one else has to waste their money. I bought the iTurbo to use on an overseas trip, so I could use it on the airplane and bus rides and such. It only worked the first time I tried it. After that, it barely did any charging. I went through about 10 batteries just to get about a minute of play time on my iPod. I just ended up buying the Apple charger while in England at twice the cost as in the states. Do not waste your $ on this item!!!

  I purchased this item about 2 1/2 years ago. I have the old NON video
  20 gb IPOD. This item worked PERFECTLY for me for 2 1/2 years. I have had some VERY long flighs (back to back 11 hour flights) and it allowed me to use my IPOD for hours. The ITURBO finally quit working. I will replace it as we travel quite a bit and it extends the IPOD life very nicely. I also can get a full charge from my rechargeable AA batteries. Sometimes the rechargeable batteries are a rather tight fit, but I have always been able to insert them and remove them successfully, but sometimes with a little bit of work.
