excellent price to quality By A3QFZJZ22WHX80 on 2007-05-21
(Edit, addendum 10/13/07)
Now after several months of extended use, it's time to add to the review in light of experience. There is a downside and that is in the (electrical) contact on the back of the LED PCB (printed circuit board). The solder paths create a single lead/tin "button" in the center of the PCB. The positive terminal of the battery holder contacts this "button." This solder "button" tends to oxidize as time goes on, and that makes the passage of current from the battery holder either absent or intermittant. In most cases, whacking the flashlight against the palm of your hand lengthwise will bounce the battery housing enough to break the oxidation layer and everything goes back to normal function.
On the (now many) lights we've purchased and distributed, I took the time to removed the LED pcb and solder multple strands of copper acrosse the end of the button, or, simply solder a small copper circle to the button. In EVERY case, the problem vanished and hasn't returned.
While this is a minor problem, the pricing is such that it can pretty much be ignored. If one is so inclined, the time and effort necessary to effect a permanent repair is minimal and well worth the small effort involved.

Through an Amazon special, I grabbed two of these along with two of the same company's 21 LED lights (also three AAA's). As another reviewer mentioned, these are "field" units and are susceptible to getting lost or damaged. Fundamentally, that requires that they be of a "disposable" prices.
After receiving the initial order, I ordered another 6, one for each car, one for each child, one for the wife's purse and a couple of spares for me, etc, etc.
Good quality, good light, good design for the prices. VERY good.
The future will tell if the longevity matches the other qualities.

Poor build quality, nice light for the price. By A1LXESUUNI846B on 2007-09-09
Bought 3 of these flashlights in different colors. One of the units, the cool blue one, first started showing intermittent lighting, then died. After pushing on the glass face of the flashlight, the light came back on, but soon went away. After a few more tries pushing on the glass face, the light came back on, hopefully to stay. To ensure that it stays operational, I've added superglue to make sure the glass does not shift out the millimeter or two that seems to kill the flashlight. Still decided to give it 4 stars because for the price it does give out decent light to use on camping trips, and battery life has been good though I have not timed it. Also, to be fair, it did take some abuse from my son, and I don't really expect a low priced flashlight to handle too much abuse.
Defective right out of the package By AY6TX6IW89DY8 on 2008-01-06
Nice idea for a cheap, light weight flashlight, but very poorly made. The light flashes on/off randomly. It will turn on sometime with the switch, at other times it must be lightly tapped or shaken, and sometimes nothing. It is essentially useless. It is most definitely NOT "Heavy Duty" as the description says. I liked the size and price, but this is just a piece of junk. I am returning it. Save yourself some aggravation, pay a few bucks more, get a name brand.
Great little flashlight By A1EERROO6ILWOI on 2007-05-12
Excellent construction and brightness. Fits easily in a tool bag or glove box. I am a field service engineer and have lost several expensive flashlights so I decided to go cheap just in case I lost another one. I bought 4 of these, and there's nothing cheap about them except the price.
LED Flashlight By A2FAJC03CDMRMS on 2007-12-20
I would not buy any product that utilizes 3 AAA batteries. Instead I would opt for a similar product using 2 AA batteries. That way, I would be getting two times the amount of juice for 2/3 of the price. I do not know why manufacturers often fit their products with the smallest batteries that they can get away with.
- DId not last
     By A3D6T643X0QULQ on 2008-01-29
We own many flashlights, and this one looked great, but within a month it no longer worked, and no amount of battering fiddling made it better. Maybe it was just a bad light, but I would not recommend this.

I buy from Amazon on a constant basis. Good prices and good service. This light, on the other hand did not work from the word go. I am returning it.

- Good price, bad switch
     By A1WJ8U24MI7RUZ on 2007-09-11
I bought several of these b/c the price was so good and the light so bright. Most of the lights I bought flicker a lot, with the light sometimes going out. Seems to be due to the wiring in the switch area, since tapping and turning it on & off temporarily resolves the problem (for about a minute).
- bright, but painted with lead
     By A32A07WXYB5EM5 on 2008-07-23
The flashlight is reasonably bright, I'll give it that. On the other hand, it comes with a warning that says, "Normal everyday use of this product is likely to expose the user to dust and microscopic particles containing lead and other chemicals known in the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects and other reproductive harm."
In other words, this thing is painted with lead paint!
- Very bright; inexpensive; causes cancer
     By A1WG8GQLHDZZJU on 2008-08-12
Pros:
- very bright
- compact
- inexpensive
Cons:
- causes cancer
I really like the brightness produced by this flashlight; the cancer, not so much.
- good little light
     By AR1HO9W61KD97 on 2007-03-19
It's a nice light bright, light weight. The houseing is cheap looking.
- keeps going out
     By A17IDIUWKQI7W7 on 2007-06-09
keeps going out
have to unscrew cap and put back on to get good connection with batteries
- Best flashlight I have purchased
     By A1ENWJ1A6EBCK1 on 2007-07-09
This little flashlight is superb. It is bright, the batteries last a long time and the LEDs will probably outlive me.
I bought one. I loved it so much I ordered 20 of them and give them to my workers on my coffee plantation, friends and all my Grandkids.
The price is more than right.
Buy one, and you will buy more.

- 9 LED Flashlight
     By A1ZWIA35USFG1Q on 2007-07-12
This is a great general purpose flashlight. I do have many that are much brighter but this one does hold it's own. When you are using a flashlight at night, sometimes too bright is not good. It actually hurts your eyes. This flashlight has a good intensity of light while diffusing just enough to not hurt when using late at night in very dark situations. The feel of the flashlight is good and it hardly weighs anything at all. I recommend using lithium batteries in it. They are expensive but you get a bright light that lasts for a long time.
- Fragile Product
     By A1GI4OYHXQMYJ9 on 2008-01-02
I was very unimpressed by the durability of this flashlight. I turned it on once and it was fairly bright but as I was trying to clip it to my key chain, I dropped it on a hard, carpeted surface and it broke, failing to turn on afterwards. It was cheap but I'm still disappointed.
- Really small, but very strong.
     By A3TH8630XW7X91 on 2008-09-01
When I first got this product, I was disappointed at how small it was. I made a mistake and thought I was getting something a little bigger. But when I used this little bugger, it just lights up everything. I mean this flashlight is strong. I lit up my entire backyard at night and that is saying a lot. I will never use any other kind of flashlight. Any flashlight that doesn't have LED, you are wasting your money. These little guys will do the trick and they are cheap. You won't be disappointed.
- Great for 5 bucks
     By A1MAHMOFW5AHP9 on 2007-11-09
This light is worth at least $15.....get a set of rechargeable batteries and your set. I love flashlights......"Inova" has some great lights and so does "Fenix"......"Maglights" are junk! But the best bargin is "Streamlight" 4AA Propolymer Luxeon Flashlight with a White LED, Yellow #68244. Do not get this model with the 7 LED's....get the one with only one LED. This is pound for pound the best light on the market!!!
- Good for the money
     By A2G9U0737UXXML on 2007-11-25
I take an early morning hike every morning before sunup. This little flashlight lights the trail brightly. The only problem is that the light goes out periodically and I have to tap it to make it come on again.
- Good for the price
     By ALX4M8ZTLFBEY on 2008-01-25
The good:
Small, lightweight, and bright. The on/off button is good.
The bad:
Aluminum shell is thinner than I expected. I'm convinced that if I stepped on it or dropped it from a significant height (like from a ladder) that it would deform.
The crystal in front of the LEDs seems very flimsy - I'm afraid to put any pressure on it.
Overall:
This flashlight seems to be a fair deal, but it won't be replacing your mini-maglight anytime soon.
- I didn't like it personally
     By A3MU1MWZJVEZ7A on 2008-02-18
This is again a cheap material, from China (obviously). The light beam is dull. The battery assembly inside is loose and not fitting well, so the light goes off & on its own. The beam is scattered. You will expect to see everything you don't want it on a good flash light.
9 LED or 12 LED... doesn't matter, it is not good. I would recommend to shop around for a good 3W / 5W LED light rather than this one..
- UNRELIABLE
     By A20XAB0H8B5P19 on 2008-02-21
Two days after I enthusiastically purchased this light, it started working only intermittently. Evidently there is some type of problem with a contact somewhere because it only lights part of the time. About 50% of the time it won't light when turned on - it must be banged against something (usually my hand) in on order for it to light and then it will go out from time to time if not held steady. Cheap? yes. Reliable? No way.
- EXCELLENT PRODUCT!
     By A154LDPGSTA5NX on 2007-06-04
I bought 4 of these 21 LED lights expecting to be at least a little disappointed in some way but I was mistaken! These flashlights work GREAT! They flood the area with very white light and not just inside the house. This is a flood light and as such performs very well. I took one outside and was very suprised to see that it provided a great deal of bright light across a broad area of my back yard. The lights are very sturdy and fit just right in your hand. The 3 cheap batteries that came with the unit don't last long but copper tops and energizers last much better. Buy them you won't be disappointed!
- great light
     By AO82IY1OWZO4N on 2007-07-18
This light worked very well for a few weeks. It works well now except every few minutes it goes dull, and I have to hit it against my hand a few times to bring it back to full brightness. Great price though!!! I'd recommend it.
- Good Lights
     By AKXN2YKNF85CL on 2007-12-15
The lights arrived quickly and work great. While the lights are not blinding they are great for the ability to drop one in your pocket and not have to wonder if the batteries are dead. The little lights provide plenty of light for checking things under the hood of a car or changing a part at night and couple of them can be used together so that there are no shadows.
- Decent for the price
     By A1ED1QIAKNB6TD on 2007-12-31
I've seen cheaper flashlights with similar configuration but this one has a better quality build. The outside is a fairly attractive aluminum with some sort of anodizing. The LED's put out a bright, though slightly bluish tinted light and it will stay bright for a few hours, then will dim considerably as the batteries die. Put in high MAh Ni-MH batteries and the light output is even stronger, though rechargeables will have a power curve that drops off very sharp but they do last longer. The flickering issue is solved by keeping the rear cap screwed on tight. The button doesn't always work the first time so you may have to do multiple clicks to get it lit, disappointing. Its pretty tiny and convenient to have a few of these around the house, in the car, or just keep one in your pocket just in case. It uses a AAA battery carrier, so don't lose it for the flashlight is then pretty much useless.
- Sleek, little, BRIGHT!
     By A3BR51ZK36PWUX on 2008-01-07
I was a little worried when I clicked to order this flashlight. When other flashlights were costing nearly 10X what this one costs I knew I was going to regret my order.
I COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG!
These flashlights are UNBELIEVABLE. They are INCREDIBLY BRIGHT. DO NOT point them near your eyes!!!!!
At the cost I picked up 3 of these, even with all three they still cost 1/10 the cost of a top end brand. I put it up next to a friend who purchased a $75 version of the same kind but top end flashlight and not only was mine brighter, but it was lighter in weight as well.
Why purchase something that costs 10X more when these work PERFECT. THANKS!!
It even comes WITH BATTERIES!!!!! I AM AMAZED!
- Amazing little flashlight!
     By A2RCNJ215PIP1V on 2008-01-07
This flashlight is amazing for the price that is being charged. It is extremely compact and solid-feeling. The button on the back is not flimsy at all and the throw (how much light is projected) is excellent. It is very bright and efficient.
- Great Little Light
     By A1CVDCHKM0ABTI on 2008-01-13
MY 87 yr old MOther uses this at night. She is thrilled with the bright lite and the low weight. Great solution.
- Crazy value
     By A3LM5942RUO9JW on 2008-01-18
I've paid a lot more for a lot less when it comes to LED flashlights.
This one is the brightest I've ever owned. You can walk around your yard with it. Plenty of light.
Small enough to be kept in a bag, in the car... I keep one with my remotes in the living room.
It feels solid in your hand, not cheap. I've only had it for a few weeks, and couldn't be happier with it.
The issue with having to smack the LED flashlight in your hand is one I have run into with other LED flashlights, seems like a common problem with them. Mine (I bought a bunch of these little guys) are all working as they should.
- having same problem as others..
     By A2DQGD2M6EZRS6 on 2008-02-15
My light also works intermitingly..pushing on the lens or tapping it works but then goes out again. Its poor contact of the battery pack and the circuit board as others stated. I pulled the spring on the tail cap out to put more pressure on the battery holder..This works for a while but the spring eventually looses strength. When it works its great but even at the cheap price I expect it to just turn on..I am sending it back for replacement but have a feeling the new one will be the same way..If it is I will just get creative and figure out a way to get it working...I saw a post somewhere where a person soldered a little washer in place and it fixed the problem. This flashlight has the potential to be a 5 but based on my experience and the fact that many others experienced the same problem..there is a design flaw that some of us will experience...I give it a two.
