  • A little finicky, but does the trick

    By A22DH85C8AOZ7A on 2007-03-04
My son was nursed and never used a bottle, so when it was time to wean him, he didn't understand that he had to tip the cup up in order to get the milk. This was the perfect solution! At first the cups leaked, the threading around the lid wasn't tight enough; but after being in the dishwasher, it got more snug and doesn't leak anymore. They are finicky though, sometimes it's hard to get them open and it is fairly hard to clean the straw. But it's all worth it.

  • The best straw sipper out there!

    By AGWKIYN9TVS34 on 2007-02-06
I don't agree at all with the other review. I think this is the best straw sipper on the market. My son wouldn't take a sippy cup AT ALL, unless it was a straw. We tried everything, including the Playtex, and the Nuby is the best. Easy to clean, NO SPILL (if it's screwed on correctly -- it doesn't take any more work than any other bottle) and the silicone straw is bigger than most. This is the only one I'll buy!

  • Great, spill-proof sippy cups!

    By A1VU4YO3Y8IYQL on 2007-02-14
Out of all the straw sippy-cups we've tried, these leak the LEAST! I actually can leave a full Nuby sipper with water in my son's crib at night and it doesn't spill or leak. This is great because he often wants a sip of water during the night. I agree that you have to make sure they are twisted on correctly, and they tend to warp in the dishwasher (even on the top shelf), but other than that, I would recommend them.

  • best cup

    By AJEZBWVA70UDE on 2007-03-16
This cup is awesome, I bought four of them and it's the only one my toddler will drink out of. I don't know what the other reviewer is talking about, if you have the straw in correctly (which takes some practice and getting used to), then this cup works great. After a couple runs in the dishwasher, the liquid finally started sucking back into the cup after he was done drinking (if that makes sense)so there is barely any leaking. I would recommend undoing all parts before putting in the dishwasher and make sure the seal is on correctly when you put it back together, and then it won't leak.

  • Geat first sippy cup

    By A2BD872P9Z6J5M on 2007-04-23
This is one of the sippy cup that our daughter (14-month old now) loves to use. I got this bottle right after she was one year old. I tries to give to her different sippy cups bofore, but she could not figure out how to use them. And this is the first one that she managed to get water out herself just on the first try. Now, she knows how to use other sippy cups as well, but still like to use this one.

  • It won't leak if you put it together correctly!
    By A2V4M3UFC4ZM6H on 2007-05-22
We love these cups! Once you figure out how to insert the straw correctly they absolutly don't leak. It is worth the time to do it correctly. My son really likes the smaller ones with handles but I have to refill them all the time so I'm trying the bigger ones now.

  • Best Sippy Cup EVER!!!!!!!!
    By ASIU7I8N4FMEM on 2007-05-28
This cup is great! I find that no matter what my daughter does to this cup it seems to be the only one that stays together and doesn't leak.. Out of all of the Nuby cups this one is by far the best and I have tried them all!!!~

  • It's all in the assembly
    By A9905UNW21X75 on 2007-06-17
So I thought, hey, no more bottles, so much less to wash - that dream did not come true - these are as hard to wash as bottles and twice as hard to put together. But it is still the VERY BEST SIPPY CUP going - never leaks if assembled correctly, and it's not a bottle with a different nipple like most sippy cups - it is a real step up for your toddler. We love it!

  • These leak
    By AAPUWFE2U71L8 on 2007-04-10
When I first bought these I loved them so I bought 2 more. They were great - no leaks. I have only hand washed them. All of a sudden the tops started to leak to the point that when tipped over the drink runs out of them. I tried to contact the company but no contact info is available on the website. When I tried to return to Babies R Us they would not take them back b/c I did not have the original packaging, eventhough I did have my receipt.
I have also talked with several of my friends and we have all had the same problem after about a month of use.

  • Leaks like a sieve
    By A19JRFNTTOOKOG on 2007-04-10
I bought these thinking how great, we can have a straw cup that actually has replacement parts available. Well, even though they have parts, they aren't worth the trouble.
I've never had a cup leak so bad. I screwed around with the valve and top for 10 minutes to get it in correctly. Who has time for that? not me!!!
I tried and tried to get them to work, but no luck and my husband sure won't have patience for that. These cups went straight in the trash.
A whole cup of juice leaked on the furniture and stained it.
I'll be buying straw cups that I know don't leak, even though they dont' have replacement parts. It's worth the money and time to just replace.

  • No leaks? Yeah right!
    By A2A0WQX4JK88NR on 2007-04-12
It'd be one thing if this product leaked a little here and there. NO! Every nuby product I've purchased or was given to me as a gift - including this one - leaked ALL the contents anytime it was on it's side.

It soaked my carpets and spilled all over our tile.

I wouldn't recommend ANY nuby product to anyone.

  • These are great for my 6mo old
    By A2EVE34TRC2JTB on 2007-07-23
I love these cups, and this brand, as mu 6mo old is off the bottles and now on these full time. We love this style for rides in the car as she cant lift the cups up so the ones with the straw work great. We havent had any leaks and I think that it is a problem with the person putting it together incorectly. It only leaks is when its dropped on its nipple and left that way (like tipped over a toy) and the weight of the cup squeezes the nipple open. But laying on its side there is no leaking.

  • Great Cup
    By A3881CGKRYLRE9 on 2007-08-04
I have seen many reviews of this product saying that it leakes all the time, but as long as the straws are all properly installed...there's no problem. The only problem I've found with this cup is that the sippy straw is easily chewed by toddlers and sometimes the top of the cup doesn't thread right when twisting it on. All it takes is to realign the top though. I love these cups!

  • Way too much trouble
    By AOAOARIH72UWI on 2008-02-03
Have had one of these for a long time. Notice I said one because we won't buy another. This thing has a few major flaws. First and foremost, it is a pain in ]...[ to clean. It has so many parts too clean and keep track of: lid, bottle, outside straw, middle straw, and bottom straw. Each piece has to be taken apart each time for cleaning since the straws are small and the outside one is actually closed at the top to prevent leaking you pretty much have to hand wash and scrub out with a tiny pipe cleaner like brush (we use the one from the Dr. Brown's bottles). Putting it back together feels like you are building a model airplane (if you can manage to keep track of all the parts). Secondly, twist closing the lid is always a challenge. It isn't always easy to tell if you have it on right until it leaks. Taking it off is even worse because it seems to lock down and get stuck. The last thing is that sometimes when my kid is drinking and the straw part flips out of his mouth some of the liquid goes flying across too. I do give it credit for having a straw that folds down to stay clean and if you get it on right it doesn't leak. As mentioned, I didn't and wouldn't buy this again.

  • CONTAINS BPA in straw assembly! Shoots contents, and your kid will chew the straw.
    By A2XZ7OFHNNKOQU on 2008-05-02
This cup's straw assembly includes a BPA part, so it wouldn't be legal in Canada. I have no idea why it's in Amazon's BPA-free store.

Also, I bought one of these for my son before I knew Nuby's abysmal BPA record and campaign of misinformation to consumers. I noticed that my son always chewed the straw (the silicone part, not the BPA part which is inside). One day I took a drink of his juice and it turns out you have to bite the straw to get liquid out.

Also, when the child has taken a drink and snapped the lid closed, the straw, upon reopening, will shoot a notable amount of beverage toward and above the opener.

    I threw ours out.

  • Absolutely the best....
    By A1E29194QNFHFG on 2008-06-10
I don't know why so many people say these leak. They do not. Maybe they're not putting the lid on properly. It's easy to screw it on crooked.

We've been using these for almost a year now.
I have 4 of these (along with 6 others with handles) and they're awesome. I have tried every sippy cup out there and these are perfect.

There are not too many parts to it. Only the lid and the straw! Very easy to clean and sturdy. My 18 month old son throws them across the room as hard as he can and not one broke or came apart.

They're the only cups that work, don't leak and don't break.

  • No leak?? HUAHUAHUAHUA...yeah right
    By A3TKFQH9R7M2FH on 2007-04-24
BEWARE BUYERS, THIS THING LEAKS ALL THE TIME!!!
all of the nuby products I bought leaks all of it content whenever it's on its side, so that means, leaks when it tips over in the diaper bag, and when the baby drinks the bottle.
    Such a waste of money!

  • Don't buy this product...
    By A28SLMCJZ1ZGQU on 2007-06-06
I got these cups thinking they'd be great since they looked perfect for my little one. He likes the straw part and is easy enough for him to open and close the top. However, the cups leak (even when closed). I've used other cups that don't leak and from what I've read I'm not the only one with leaky cups. Get Nubby or Munchkin for they are by far better products.

  • BEWARE! The straw falls apart in tiny pieces
    By A3H5JAO4BPLIQT on 2007-08-16
My 16 mo old son loves these cups. yes, they leak when there is a temp change, but we have made do. They are the only cups he drinks large volumes from. HOWEVER, I just discovered that the "seal" in the top part of the straw is falling off in tiny pieces... the part at the very top of the straw w/ the slits. 1/2 of this top seal is actually missing on one of our cups- I am certain my son ingested them. I then checked the other cup, and this part is broken on 1 side of the straw- I expect that these will fall off as well with continued use. I'm not sure how this hasn't been a big problem... we have only had these cups for 7 mos.

I ordered this product for a friend who ALWAYS spills her drinks. Thanks to this mega sipper, I now Queen Spillage by her biological name. I ordered this on Amazon with another product and this product came before the confirmation of the purchase of the other even hit my email. Thanks a bunch!

  • Perfect sipper!
    By A1VWXT9KNUQE4F on 2007-12-09
This is a wonderful sipper, and it never leaks, if u take the time to understand how it is assembled and do it correctly, then it will never leak...
used it with my son and now I am using it with my breasfed one year old, cuz she doesn't know how to hold a sippy cup up and drink at the same time :)

  • Perfect first cup
    By AFSRDFNIKRBGB on 2007-12-14
I have used many sippy type cups over the years and this is one of my favs. The straw makes it more natural for first time cup users, and the sucking motion needed is great for weaning off the bottle quickly. The one problem that I had was getting the lid to fit properly. One cup I had to just throw away, the lid never did tighten correctly and it would leak. I would recommend this cup and I use them daily for my grandson.

  • The perfect sipper
    By AEF5BE07FP5JV on 2008-01-05
We bought these at the same time as the strawless Nuby sippers. My daughter has been drinking her water from these since 7 months. She is able to get them open (and closed) herself and I've never had a problem with leaking. We also have the insulated ones. I would recommend those as well but the outer shell will crack if tossed enough times. The cup still works regardless. A little timely to clean thoroughly and put back together properly, but worth it if you're looking for a non-spill sipper.

  • Great product
    By A1CNRRB39WBB0G on 2008-01-14
These are great for toddlers. My daughter wouldn't use any sippy cup. She loves the straw in this. The straw is flexible and safe. The cupa nd straw are dishwasher safe. I have wased them many times!

  • Great value, must be assembled correctly for no leaks!
    By A2P16URG7HIBOP on 2008-04-02
I started using the Nuby products as soon as my son started drinking from cups. We started with the Gripper Cup. Then when he got a little older we decided to move up to a straw sippy cup. The Mega Sipper works wonderfully and is such a great value. My son can easily grip it and we have had no leaks when assembled correctly.

I will warn you that you must pay close attention to how it is assembled before you take it apart to clean it. I put it together wrong the first time and my son spilled milk all over himself. After closer inspection, I realized I hadn't pushed the valve all the way in which can take some work to do. Once I fixed that, no more leaks. I assume this is the problem all the other reviewers are having when they say it leaks.

And as long as your little one doesn't use it as a teething toy, it will last a long time. Our Gripper Cups lasted nearly a year before the spouts began to degrade and leak a little.

  • NOT BPA FREE and it's terrible
    By A3NRHI8DY4W6AZ on 2008-05-02
This item is not bpa free as described. The straw contains BPA. Also, this is a horrible product because you can not clean the straw. It is closed off at one end with only tiny holes and the other end is folded into the lid. If you take the lid apart, you can not put it back together. Had to throw ours away after a couple of uses (we purchased this before we knew it had BPA)

  • My son loves this!
    By A1T84KH8T7XB2S on 2008-06-14
I bought this for my 10 month old son who could never quite get used to drinking from a regular sippy cup. He loves drinking from straws so when I saw this I had to have it. The straw is soft so he doesn't hurt his mouth on it. I am so happy I bought it because it is so easy for him to use. As for it leaking, it does on occasion leak but no more than any other sippy cup I have come across.

  • love this cup!
    By A2B2G0Q9Y63K18 on 2008-07-06
i love this cup, my son used the playtex drop in bottles so when it came time for a sippy cup he didnt understand that you have to tilt the cup up since he didnt have to with his bottles, found one of these in a walmart and he took to it at once, the only down fall was the first one did leak but took it back and they had the new ones that has less straw parts and it works great! no leaks and my 16 month old throws it down all the time, the other downside is that the straws are hard to clean and they are hard to find in stores, but you can order them from good for kids website at a good price and can order replacement straws too!!! great cup and i should know, we tried almost all that are out there, the ones with the handles are great too

  • A Great Cup for Weened Breastfed Toddlers
    By A3AWRSFYCRXDLX on 2008-08-12
I too breastfed my daughter for the first year of her life, and she wasn't great at realizing she needed to tilt a regular sippy cup up to get anything out, so she would get frustrated. I bought one of these hoping this would help her with this problem. I also bought it because I make us fruit smoothies almost every day, and the strawberry seeds would get stuck in the regular sippy cups and she couldn't ever get anything to come out. This cup allows her to drink her smoothies with ease.

My only issues with it are, that sometimes it does leak if it's left on it's side, not always, but probably half the time. So I do have to keep my eye on her especially when she just has milk in it. This is when it tends to leak more frequently. The smoothie is thick enough that it doesn't leak. Only when she decides to drop it on the tile floor does smoothie go flying out the straw and splatters the ground.

As far as cleaning it goes, I don't find this as challenging as the last reviewer did. If you have two hands and ten fingers, I don't see the problem with putting it together or screwing the cap on and off. I did buy extra lids that supplies extra straws, but I haven't lost anything as of yet.

I now own three of these, and have recommended them to other mommy's I know.

  • These LEAK like crazy!
    By A2NN0K4TCS2JZJ on 2007-02-05
The liquid just pours right out. If you're looking for a cup w/ a straw, the Playtex Insulator Sports cups work really well.
