Sony DSC-S700 Cybershot By A1J0YMI8URZFE5 on 2007-07-04
I purchased the Cybershot DSC-S700 for my wife. She loves taking pictures but isn't into complicated gadgets. This camera is easy to use turn it on point and shoot. It has 3X optical zoom capability and additional features that will satisfy most photographers. I believe the Sony DSC-S700 is a great camera for the money and a wonderful gift for the amateur photographer in your family who just wants to capture the moment.
Very easy to use! By AQDAOLKAET803 on 2007-11-01
I've only owned Canons before, which I still love, but for the price and features of this camera, I thought I'd try something new. It's very easy to use. Each setting gives you a little onscreen description without you having to dig out the instruction booklet each time. It's point and shoot, takes AA batteries as opposed to lithium ones, and it's small in size so you could tuck it right into your pocket or purse if you wanted. I'm still getting used to the settings myself, but with as easy as it is to review and delete the photos you've already taken, it's not a big deal if I get one or two I don't like in the process. Plus, the clarity of the pictures is fantastic. Great for a first time digital camera owner, or someone who likes to travel light on vacation. And after shopping around, Amazon had the best price.
I'm really glad I purchased this camera when I did because now I can use it to take photos during the holidays. And with the camera bag and battery charger that Sony sells for this camera, it'll be easy to take with me, not to mention comforting to know that I can always recharge my batteries wherever I am if need be. Plus, SanDisk sells compatible memory cards for this camera at affordable prices, so you'll never have to worry about running out of room for photos.
I want my old camera back! By AMNTKUJ4UVBVX on 2007-09-20
I am frustrated. My old sony cyber shot fell and the lens broke. So I bought a new one and at first was pleased by the price. But as I take a closer look, I have realized that it has these downfalls (all of which my old cyber shot had):
1. The video playback on the camera has no sound
2. There is no viewfinder! Only LCD
3. Way less manual controls
4. Is not compatible with the memory stick pro (which is why i bought sony again...so i wouldn't have to buy another memory card!) Only PRO DUO which i guess are slightly, and conveniently different!!
It is however a great deal smaller and lighter, and uses 2 AA batteries which I like.
Good camera all-around! By AJSVJXRRY6NTH on 2007-08-23
This camera is a wonderful camera. Considering this camera is a huge upgrade from my little 3.2 Megapixel Kodak camera I've had for well over 3 years. The features on it are nice. It takes better pictures than my little 3.2 at night in a not so lit room. Not the best though. All in all, it's a very good camera that takes great pictures.
Great Compact Camera By A8TZM1463QUFL on 2007-10-11
This camera is great for simple, family and or just general shots. The only drawback is that there is no audio playback on the camera itself. Therefore after recording a movie you will have to load it to a PC in order to hear the sound. However you can veiw a recorded movie on the cam, just with no sound.
The Landscape and Macro modes are quite good as well as the program settings, its a great Cam for those wanting to start life in photograpy!
- Great for the Price.
     By A37RLFTP796FA7 on 2007-10-10
Great Camera for the price. So far I haven't had any problems with it and it takes great sharp pictures. It doesn't have digital zoom though, but I don't use digital zoom anyway, it makes the picture less sharp and may even get pixelated.
- Good deal¡¡
     By A2YZWRKTTYKEEP on 2007-08-06
Sony always has something good to look at.
I love my new camera, works great.
- value for money
     By A2307MCW9FN4VX on 2007-11-13
Very good product for what it is, my 1 gripe was that there's no sound on video playback with this camera. but at $141.00 compared to the $170 of some of the other 7.2 cybershots I can give up sound on the camera.
- Amazing Camera
     By A3ELML0ES9YTCU on 2007-11-30
I brought the camera for my parents.... and they are loving this smart machine .......... the picture quality is amazing and the camera is handy too ............ the only flaw that I see in this camera is the video quality .......... i am not too satisfied with it.......... say i would give 7 out of 10 for video ............ beyond that ...... must buy item ........... the battery life is good too .......... the preset modes is a big help ....... you don't have to play around with the settings........ it sets it all for you ............ the camera weighs less......... the AV chord helps you view the picture and videos on TV ....... overall i would rate 9 out of 10 ........
- Good Camera But Very Basic
     By A6WI1B5UNWCXZ on 2007-12-07
This camera takes very clear pictures and is very easy to use. I bought it about 3 hours ago and so far my only complaint is that it does not shoot in black and white or sepia and the software that comes with it does not convert to black and white. I was dissapointed in this. I bought it at an Army PX for $145.00 tax free. I wanted a simple camera that I could just leave in my purse to capture all the moments and it will serve that purpose very well. I will probably purchase a better photo editing program though.
- Nice so far
     By A2O6L849QA202Q on 2007-12-25
Seems to work well, but I should have done a little more homework. It does not use the old memory sticks, it uses the new Duo type. So I was caught with my pants down on Xmas only able to take 7 pictures.
- Easy to use, but beware

Sony Cybershot S700 7.2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical ZoomOK, here's my impressions of this camera. I have never owned a digital camera before. I just wanted a simple point and shoot to take pics for Ebay. I do not care for bells and whistles. I just want to do what a point and shoot is for. I want to take it out of the box and take pics. There are many things to like about this camera. I dropped it twice on a wooden floor from a height of 3 feet and no damage, so it's built tough. The buttons are not very intuitive, but the manual is easy to read and understand. It is easy to load and use the included editing software. I especially like that when you plug the usb cable into the camera, the editing software automatically pops up and asks you if you want to download. Very handy! Someone mentioned it's easy to accidently delete pics. No it's not. You have to first hit the disp button, then the delete button, then tab up to highlight delete, then hit enter. It would be very hard to accidently delete a shot. There are several cons with this camera. One, the usb protector cover is very flimsy rubber, and it's only a matter of time before it breaks. There is little in camera editing available. You can rotate, resize, or reduce red-eye, but that's about it. The included software lets you do this as well, but only has a few more editing tricks. You can adjust brightness, sharpness, tone, or crop. There is an automatic feature which is somewhat usefull. If you're serious about your pics looking their best, you will need a professional software program. Here are my biggest dislikes, which is why I give it 3 stars. A camera should take good pics right? Well, this does but only if you have surgeons hands. There is no image stabilizer in this camera. My hand shakes slightly, and most of my pics have been blurry because of this. I thought a tripod would help, but the tripod dock is on the left. This makes it easy to tip the camera over when using this, which is how mine got dropped twice. It should be in the center. The shutter button needs to be pressed half-way to focus, and then fully to take the pic. This requires too much pressure, which again makes a steady shot difficult when your finger moves the camera. The low iso setting is useless for close-ups. Pics were dark and grainy. It would only be good for long shots where the flash won't work. I will be trading this camera for one with an image stabilzer. Since even most entry-level cameras have that these days, I'd say the DSC700 is seriously outdated. If you have steady hands, and can get this really cheap like I did, it's a good entry-level camera. But unless you have surgeons hands, I'd look elsewhere.
- love this camera

I absolutely love this camera. Its by far the best camera ive ever owned. So easy and takes wonderful pictures in any light.
- Great and easy to use
     By A1AQXFRE90LJTC on 2007-12-26
I recently purchased the Sony to replace my Nikkon and it has far exceeded my expectations. The camera is easy to use and seems more user friendly than my previous product. I don't believe you can go wrong with this camera especially for the price.
- Love this camera!
     By A3UQIE3GU1QU71 on 2007-12-30
I borrowed a friend's Sony Cybershot for my recent vacation and fell in love with it. So when I got home I bought the identical onefor myself. The various settings helped me take great pictures in a variety of settings. I also liked the large view screen and high resolution capability. This camera was very easy to use, even for a digital picture novice like me.
- Extremely frustrated with this camera...
     By A17TOIHFAGH3P7 on 2008-04-06
To say I'm disappointed with this camera is a complete understatement. I got this camera for Christmas, and upon my first use was not satisfied with the pictures, but thought it was just a matter of reading the instruction manual and adjusting the settings. I read all of the reviews on here as well as other sites and followed suggestions re: the camera settings, and nothing works. My photos turn out extremely blurry and/or grainy; the color is really off (weird orange-y hue, despite experimenting with the color settings on the camera menu); the flash is too bright for nighttime indoor shots, which are the majority of my photos, even though I decreased the flash brightness. Without fail, if I ask someone else to take the picture, it turns out blurry... the only reason maybe half of the ones I take personally don't turn out blurry is because I literally stop breathing as I push the button knowing that I have to be as still as death in order to get a somewhat precise shot. Sometimes the picture looks like it is fine when reviewing it on the camera's LCD screen, but then when I upload it to my computer it is awful. I'm so frustrated with this camera as I feel I've lost out on some great memories because it is a terrible product. At this point, I doubt we can return it, so it has been a complete waste of our time and money. I definitely would never recommend this camera to anyone.
- Buy another brand!
     By AMPS5T8J4CJKJ on 2007-12-22
I had purchased the Sony at a local Target and at first was pleased. Then the camera began to malfunction. One weekend I was at a wedding and had placed brand new batteries in the camera when it began to shut off once I turned it on. It did the same yesterday, so I took it back to Target and bought another brand. Don't waste your money on Sony. I've had problems in the past with Sony products, such as Walkmen.
- Horrible camera! Wish there was a no-star rating.
     By A1PP6SR071BUGI on 2007-12-23
I bought this camera thinking it must be good because of the name brand. Boy was I wrong. A lot of the time the pictures came out blurry when the timer was used. But the worse part was the battery life. At first it was okay, but after a few uses it would run out the battery as quickly as I put them in. At first I thought they must've been bad batteries, but it kept happening after putting in brand new batteries three times! I'd put the new batteries in and five minutes later it would say low battery and then it'd shut down. I'm very disappointed with this Sony product. Unfortunately, I purchased it in the store and will get charged a re-stocking fee, but I'd rather have a camera that works, so back it goes.
- A good buy
     By A1U5LE6NKYDWNR on 2008-01-03
I did a lot of research before settling on this camera. All I wanted was a fairly thin, easy to operate camera for point-and-shoot purposes. Not only does this camera take great amateur pictures, but it's also intuitive despite the fact that it *does* have lots of features. It's a solid weight so it doesn't feel cheap at all, and the screen resolution is crisp. I would definitely recommend this camera for people who find themselves taking pictures on a vacation and special-event basis.
- Great Camera...I got mine at Walmart for 89 bucks.....
     By A1OJ07S8BDKZJM on 2008-01-06
I bought this camera at Walmart just before xmass for 89 bucks + tax....and it has great photo editing software included along with usb cables, etc. It takes great photos..clear and the macro is great too. The drawback is that it uses Sony mini sd memory and that cost extra..and it will not work at all on cheap AA batteries...you have to use top of the line alkaline or rechargable batteries. As another reviewer says...I got caught with my pants down on the sd mamory care issue and I had to go back to Walmart and by the Sony made sd card outfit to take more pics. They were on sale then but they cost much much more now that the holidays are over. But...best bang for the buck for a 7.2 mega pixel out there in my opinion.
- Buena camara con 7.2 MP
     By A2PBLCGKZLKYK7 on 2008-02-24
- sony's flash too bright
     By AF6UOBW8U0M31 on 2007-12-27
My husband and I decided to purchase another sony digital camera after having our previous one for about 4 years. We were very happy with the pictures we got with that one until the screen broke (from being dropped a number of times). I really take a lot of pictures because we have two young children and started using the new camera right away. The camera is easy to use and review. The only complaint I have is that the flash is very bright for close-ups. It creates that ghosty look on everyone. Does anyone know if flash strength can be adjusted on this camera ????
- Disappointed
     By AZH2Y0EJMCQSN on 2008-01-01
I have owned three of these, and all three have malfunctioned. The first one worked for about three days, then just cut off right when it was turned on, even with new batteries. The second one did not function at all; and the third one had the same problem as the first. For the time that the first one worked, I was pretty happy with it... But I am now tired of all the problems these have given me and have moved on to a different brand. Sure, this thing might not be as expensive, but for about $20-$30 more you can get a much better camera that's actually RELIABLE.
- Great!
     By A1MLE85338CXO3 on 2008-01-02
wonderful product. Takes great pictures. It has a lot more features than my old camera.
- I Love My New Camera
     By A13YTYX4YMA3FP on 2008-01-07
I love my new Cybershot camera. I wanted something small (fits in my purse) and something that I could just point and click. I would recommend this camera to anyone that wants a GREAT picture without a lot of fuss.
- Excellent buy for this price
     By A3331PIVJPNDCE on 2008-01-18
It's an excellent camera with this price tag. I could have given 5 stars for this product, but the camera lens cuts one point. This Sony cam comes with the Sony lens, whereas other Sony cams are equipped with Carl Zeiss lens, which I think the best optical product.
Video review on camera doesn't give you any audio which is another drawback but be sure the sound gets recorded, only review thing is not having audio.
- It was a gift for my mother in law
     By A2EEFHFEZD5CE9 on 2008-01-18
She loves it. I checked it out with her too. It seems easy to use but has a lot of nice features. Plus its lightweight and has a big screen. I'm actually thinking of buying one myself.
- Exactly what I ordered; nothing more......
     By A2HWG9AWZI51R8 on 2008-01-18
Shipment was quick and simple. Order came exactly as ordered, brand new condition. The camera is amazing quality; without the memorystick though it can only hold 10 pics = (. Camera did not come fully loaded, however it was exactly as described.

Great little camera, ready to go out of the box, SONY quality, basically point and shoot.
- Excellent product for the price
     By AX6Y51IQTJDDE on 2008-01-20
I purchased this camera as a gift for my 15 year old relative.. She was thrilled with it.. very easy to use even for a beginner no need to read the manual. I even used it and wassurprised by the quality of pictures way better than my canon of approximately similar qualifications..
