Transformers Movie Leader Megatronx$63.99
    (28 reviews)
Best Price: $63.99
Megatron is a towering, bulky, dinosaur-footed monstrosity with a varied color scheme noticeably different than that of the movie version. Megatrons jet mode looks a little bit like one of Leonardo da Vincis flying machines. His robot mode, bearing a slightly simplified version of the movie Megatrons intricate armor plating, is reasonably well articulated. Among Megatrons arsenal of gimmick features are electronic sounds and lights, a launching claw that becomes a chain whip, and arms that combine to form a fusion cannon. Initially Megatron was Cybertrons designated Lord High Protector, although eventually he succumbed to his consuming lust for the all spark. Megatrons agenda placed him in opposition of Optimus Prime forcing the latter to rally a militia against Megatrons Deceptions. Megatron was single-minded and monstrously powerful; the Deceptions gained ground against their adversaries, and as a desperate contingency the all spark was jettisoned into space. Megatrons attempt to find the all spark ultimately divided him from his forces and led him into frounceen stasis.

Possibly the worst Transformer ever By A3AAF0HL1JA88S on 2007-07-09
Ok, maybe I'm being a little over-zealous calling it the "worst," but it's probably the biggest let down. I've been pretty skeptical about him but I found him on sale and jumped on it. I like having him to go beside my movie Optimus Prime, but I kinda wished I hung on to my money. My list of complaints is pretty long.
1. The paint application and plastics are cheap looking. On the box he's got these great metallic colors, but the toy is a stock, plain gray with a few light, dull, paint applications.
2. The alternate mode is just so flimsy and confusing. It took me forever to position the legs properly and I still had to force them into place a bit. And the arms are just kind of hanging limply. The instructions are so vague sometimes you're better off looking at the photos on the box to figure it out for yourself.
3. I really get the feeling that they took full advantage of the fact that Megatron had very little screen time and when he was on screen it was so hectic and quick, because it definitely feels like they took some big liberties with his appearance. One of my biggest complaints about his appearance: his face. On the box they depict his face in battle mode; it's much more menacing and makes more sense in his alternate mode. His regular face isn't very detailed and in alternate mode it looks awkward because there's this weird little face peaking out.
4. It feels like he's always about to break. His joints and some of the locking tabs are so strong you feel like you're going to break him or rip him apart trying to transform him. Other things are just so flimsy, especially in his arms.
5. The extra features are so lamely executed. His "rocket claw" seems to be built to fire out, but it doesn't. When you hit the tab his hand just falls out (if it's facing down). And to put away the whip, you have to open up the giant compartment on his arm. And his arms are supposed to combine to create a cannon. They don't "combine" as much as one goes next to the other and one arm has a cannon.
Overall, it was pretty lame.
Transformers Movie Leader Megatron: the most painful TF toy ever. By A33VR254KMQHVN on 2007-06-09
I bought Movie Leader Megatron and Voyager Starscream for my brother's birthday this past weekend, and I must say this thing is a pain to manipulate. With all the plastic spikes and points sticking out all over the body, this thing will leave your hands red by the time you finish the instruction booklet.
The box has a recommended Age 5+ rating when clearly, this thing is capable of torturing anyone over 10. The most trouble is converting his legs to alt. mode: keeping the thigh articulation intact (and away from the crotch plate=big time dings & scratches if in contact!) while swerving every other part of the leg to snap under the wings.
No experiences with Movie Leader Optimus Prime yet, but he's probably a better toy than "poke-your-eyes-out/stab-your-fingers" Megatron (0 for fun, if i could give it), not to mention cheaper, ching!
frustrating!!! By AR8HUU9W74BQY on 2007-07-15
My son is 8 and this toy is bringing him to tears. He wants so bad to transform it and neither I nor his father can figure out the tiny graphics on the instructions. They should change the age rating on this toy or make better instructions. We have him partially transformed now and am putting a call into his engineer uncle to see if he can figure it out. My son is a whiz at lego instructions and other complex instructional toys so this is a big bummer for us and we are dissapointed!Buyer Beware!!
Totally awesome! The best movie toy so far!!!! By AQYGPDY287B1O on 2007-06-11
This is my favorite movie toy so far! The robot mode is menacing & well sculpted. His cybertronian jet mode is really awesome. At first I was worried about it because his head is clearly visible in alt mode but they made it so you can easily pop his head on/off to make the jet mode look a thousand times better.
I've been a Transformers fan since 1984 & this is one of the coolest I've bought so far.
AN AWESOME TRASFORMER MEGATRON!!!!!!! By on 2007-07-18
Ive found that some people think that this trasformers transforming instrctions are useless! THIS IS NOT TRUE! I that they are very helpful and you can not transform him without them I know! when I first bought this fig it did not come with instrctions so I returned him and got a new one and it had instrctions and then I could trasform him! his jet is AWESOME! I love the lights and sounds! His jet is the biggest alt mode in the movie line of figures! And his robot mode looks SOOOOOO COOOOOL! The change wip is fun and I love it how the arms combind to a HUGE GUN! Hes very posible and durable and not to hard to transform! I love this figure and if your a transformers fan you have to have MEGATRON!!!

If you are deciding to get optimus prime or megatron this is the factors.
If you are going to keep it in the disguise then you should get optimus prime but if you are going to keep it robot mode then go for megatron.
In my opiniion megatron looks better and is more durable. But hey it's your money so I guess it's your pick.
- Leader Class Megatron
     By A2Q5H5BLRARJUY on 2007-06-20
Besides Optimus Prime, this Leader Class Megatron is the most difficult to transform, but at the same time, is very educational. children can learn a lot from transforming this figure

This was purchased for a six year old. He really likes the toy, but he had trouble with all the parts involved with the toy. Mom and Dad had to help constantly change it from robot to vehicle.
- WOW Hasbro did it again
     By A24CPA8Y1OW7OB on 2007-07-05
this is a great megatron toy he looks like a mutated version between his engeron and cybertron forms but i would recomend this toy for any G1 transformers fan this toy was so easy to transform from robot to alt move WOW
- All Hail Megatron
     By A3S2RF9LER68XR on 2007-07-08
Not much to say as I am a collector and he stays in the package unopened, but he is awesome looking and extremely detailed and would make a fine addition to any transformers fan or collector left in the box to display as the front window ids clear to see megatron top to bottom, or opened for display or to play with.
- Megatron rocks!
     By A1BC5ORQ0M8GRE on 2007-11-21
I thought this toy is really durable and well made. When I recieved it it looked very big and impressive, but it is so much cooler than the Megatron voyager classic, plus it looks more like the movie Megatron. People with this toy you cant go wrong, a MUST for die hard Transformer fans! GREAT BUY!!!
- Great Toy
     By A2H7GGMNLUZZ02 on 2007-11-30
This is a very high quality Megatron. Those who complain about the fact that it is mostly gray... well, Megatron has been a complete gray colorscheme in most interpretations. There's not a lot you can do with that. The fades to blue are nice, and the design looks great.
The transformation, though, is VERY HARD. This may be a toy, but I do not recommend children getting this one. The Leader class is very confusing. I would suggest the Deluxe class for children, which is simpler and far cheaper.
- None detailed Megatron
     By A330F4LU2934GG on 2007-07-24
Megatron has to be one of the worst detailed transformers I have every seen. There are only 3 colors on his whole body, blue, gray-silver, and the clear red plastic. His head does not even light up like it does on the box. Also, if you look at the back of the box, the button for the lights and sound is in a different place. I know that none of the other movie transformers look like what is on the back of the box 100%, but megatron is not even close. I have all the movie transformers and this one is just horrible.
- leader megatron: the most awesome tf toy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
     By AH2Z3EPEZ07NC on 2007-08-05
I think this is the best toy because the weapons are hidden. I mean you can't tell an arm is a fusion cannon until it's too late. Is that awesome or what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you're wondering about conversion, you should know its head is a little tricky to pop off and turn around to get onto the body of the jet. When you reach the final stages of "alternate" mode, the legs are tricky to position just right and pop into place. Patience is key! The advanced automorph technology is loud, so if you have a dog, beware! He will get up and run around! You must also pull out the chain whip claw and hold the tab to pull it out. It does not shoot out or extend very far, either.
The fusion cannon is on one arm instead of the combined arms and the other arm is just for holding the cannon up and keeping your aim. Overall, I like this toy so much because of the advanced automorph techonology sound...it sounds like a violent explosion and missles firing!
- Complicated, but worth it!
     By A1FV4PND1TPI8B on 2008-01-01
I think this is another example of how childproof items are really adultproof. Megatron is super-cool, but man is he hard to convert to plane mode. It took three adults two hours to figure it out! Actually, once you realize that the two little rectangular knobs on the legs click into the underside of the wings, and then realize that you probably won't break it if you twist it *just* a little harder, it's pretty darn easy. Anyway, paired with Optimus Prime, my son went nuts on Christmas morning when he opened it up. Optimus is somewhat easier to convert, but they are both great fun for kids. Pair with a couple of Magic School Bus chapter books to soothe any parental guilt about buying plastic playthings with no redeeming educational value ; )
- Expect it to be broken and in the trash very soon
     By A3J7LUXBEPEQV8 on 2008-01-07
I purchased this as a gift for a 7 year old. He is very into transformers. He was disappointed with the toy, although he did play with it a lot the first day. I don't expect it to last more than a few weeks if he continues to play with it. Definitely overpriced.
- Fun for an eight year old.
     By A1B4QPTYG6LSEC on 2008-01-07
This toy is a lot of fun for my son. He has been heavily at battle with Optimus Prime. Megatron, sadly, has never been an airplane at my house. None of us can figure it out. My son said, "It's ok, Mom. The robot is still cool. I mean, he's Megatron!" Worth it to me.
- More than meets the eye
     By A2WA88XD7IXASY on 2007-06-21
Yes, cliche but it's quite true - this Megatron has really grown on me! the legs are a little tricky to position just right when transforming to alt mode, but after a few tries it'll be a breeze. The design looks much more solid and menacing than the mediocre Voyager Megatron, it looks cool just standing there. I wouldn't recommend it for children under 8, unless you know your child to be a real wiz or you don't mind them coming up to you every 15 minutes and asking you to transform it.
BTW, there was a factory error in production, the spring that is meant to fire his whipping claw was placed in the opposite arm, which stops his fusion cannon from remaining deployed. All you need to do is remove a few screws and take each arm apart, replace the tiny spring in the whipping claw arm with the larger fusion cannon arm spring (you can just discard the smaller spring), screw them back together and it will work exactly as it was intended. It's a sad flaw, but try it out!
- Zombies in disguise?
     By A27P9WT6XEJOEN on 2007-08-11
ah Megatron the first Bayformer i bought in a time i was still hoping the movie chould be good but the movie had nothing to do with G1 (think super mario bros-the movie,streetfigher-the movie or Godzilla) a 2/5 star movie
but what of the toy?
well as a toy its nice in robot mode (or silver-Goblin mode as i like to cal it) its a nice monster however why is it al grey? also when you pull the ''chest-clip'' you hear a velociraper yawning why is this?
in cybertronian jet mode (or flying crab mode) well its...ugly almost as if this figure was rushed his legs head and arms are still visible unlike Bayformers Optimus Prime
as a Transformer
in robot mode it hase the same shape a beastwars Silverbolt but it just does not look like a robot! and more like a bionacle however this toy looks better than his cgi counterpart ironic when you think that in G1 times the animated versions always looks better than the toys!
and as Megatron?
oh boy this hase nothing to do wite his G1 counterpart that transformers into a gun (this explanes the gray collor!) also it is very dissapointing to see the almost elegent G1 Megatron as a hollywood cliché monster its like turning Darth Vader into a Alien from yes the ALIEN movies this makes animated armada Magatron look almost acceptible! (terrible shoulders terrible ears terrible face/helmet)
so....?great monter toy but terrible transformer/Megatron

Transformers Movie Leader Megatron
This was an awesome toy! I ordered it for my grandson's birthday and his dad had more fun transforming and untransforming it. It teaches critical thinking by the movable parts that change into a different shape. The little perks like lights and launcher, added additional fun to this toy.

This figure es very good, but i considere that it could be better, its transformation is high level, it's necessary following the instructions for to do a nice job. I put 8/10 as note.

- A LOT OF FUN
     By A2G9AGVRECP7QY on 2007-12-28
My grandson liked the toy a lot and I'm sure he'll have a lot of fun with it. However, it was difficult to transform it from the character to the jet it was supposed to be. I don't think we ever got it right. I got the toy in plenty of time for Christmas and it was in perfect condition.
- Not for kids
     By A2YK6GAM6DZ2UR on 2008-01-08
This is VERY hard to put together! Also, it doesn't want to "stay" together once transformed... not worth the money!!!

Transformers Movie Leader Megatron
This product is really awesome. Difficult to transform to vehicle mode, but then that's part of the fun. Don't buy it for your young kid though. It's for older kids like me (30). I'd recommend for any Transformer fan though. Overall it is well worth it.
- Cool Toy!
     By A1J66OTCSV2ENE on 2008-01-12
Received it quick-on time for Christmas, my 5 year old loves it, plays with it still!! It's a little cumbersome to figure out what all it transforms into and the pieces come off that can get lost easily but all in all, great toy, keeps him occupied!!
