Best Price: $215.00 $136.80
Do alot of laundry? The Rowenta DG5030 Pressure Iron and Steamer is designed for a busy family looking to get the most efficiency from an iron. Let's face it, nobody really enjoys ironing. This model makes it easier. The powerful vertical steam option allows the iron to be used in an upright position to remove wrinkles from hanging garments, including curtains, drapes and slipcovers. The steamer has variable steam control so output levels can be adjusted to fabric type. It has a ergonomic trigger for immediate powerful steam. The steam is distributed through a 6 foot long steam cord for optimal versatility. The water capacity is extra large, at 33-ounces., for up to 1.5 hours of uninterrupted use. A 12 foot long electrical cord provides greater convenience and the compact base fits most ironing boards. Nonstick, stainless-steel soleplate seems to glide without friction over fabrics. Iron rest for convenient storage of iron during use, secured position during transport Variable Steam Control lets you adjust steam to output to fabric types, powerful steam for thick, heavy fabrics or light steam for delicate fabrics 9 foot long steam cord for versatility

Two complaints with Model DG5030 By A30UJOVCJC0PMO on 2007-05-01
I replaced my old Rowenta (blue tank) with the new model and found it to be less than satisfactory due to: excessive water spotting on fabrics at any temperature/steam combination of settings and the fact that the water level in the tank is not visible; instruction booklet states that the water level might affect the spotting issues; however, if the water level is not visible, this is moot. I have contacted Rowenta who informed me they were "aware" of the spotting and water tank problems and that my comments would be "duly noted." Considering the cost of this iron and Rowenta's reputation for quality products, I feel that prospective customers should be aware of these problems before purchasing.
Makes Ironing a Breeze By A2TEIIQQEM7I4N on 2007-02-25
I just got this iron yesterday at Linens & Things using their standard 20% coupon you find all the time in the newspaper. I tried it out on a cotton shirt and got the job down about five times faster than usual, less work, and no wrinkles. The shirt looked like I got it back from the cleaners. I also have an Elna ironpress, which also saves time, but I think I will prefer using the Rowenta steam iron since it steams the material while you iron it, and it can get into more nooks and crannies. Note to Rowenta Engineers -- it would be nice if the water tank had a level indicator to let you know how much water is in it. This would help when you fill it so as to prevent overfilling. Another option would be a removable water tank you could take over to the sink to fill. Also, if this is a typical high quality Rowenta product, why only a one-year warranty? Why not five or ten years?
An Absolute Must By A14Z6SVYU4BBBI on 2007-04-02
If you enjoy hotel-quality,crisp linen pillow cases and duvet covers, then this iron is an absolute must. I was able to iron a king size cotton duvet cover in about 5 minutes. This task used to take at least 30 minutes with my Rowenta Professional Iron. Washable silk blouses were steamed perfectly and washable linen shirts and pants looked like new. I highly recommend this iron. I agree with other reviewers who say that a water table would be nice, this way you can refill before heating up the water.
Excellent Product By AZW2RVW8FK2C6 on 2007-06-11
Having had the dry cleaners destroy several of my custom shirts, I want back to ironing my own stuff about a year ago. I bought a cheaper Rowenta from Target at that time, and while it was generally a good iron, it didn't stand that far apart from the competition.
I recently was at a Sam's club and some Swedish company was showing their $1,500 steam/iron/board contraption. It was impressive, but $1,500? I came home to see if I could get it cheaper, and found the Rowenta DG5030 on my Google search.
After reading the reviews, I bought, and two days later I had it out of the box and ready to go. I filled it with the tap water it recommends, and about 7 minutes later I was billowing steam out of the iron. There is simply no comparison between this and a "normal" iron. You can literally iron a shirt in about 4 minutes, as you need only iron one side. You can also freshen silk and synthetic garments with the steam, saving big $$$ on dry cleaning.
I've now had it for about a month, and used it 5-6 times. One tip, it will spit a bit when you first fire it up, so press the trigger a few times before you actually start ironing. My experience is after you get the air out of the line, no more spitting or dripping.
Great product.
Works great but fails in 3 years By A1C1G18UE1BRTE on 2007-10-26
I am on my second Rowenta steam generator that is now not working again. The first one I bought worked for about 3 years and then stopped steaming. The cost for repair exceeded a new one, so I bought a second one. The second one worked for about 3 years and then had the same problem: The button on the handle gets locked, and no steam is produced. Of course, you can still use the iron as a hot iron, but this model is all about the steam. I especially like to use it as a vertical steamer to knock the wrinkles out of pants and freshen garments. I sent the second one off for repairs, which cost about $70. It came back, worked fine for about 18 months, and is now having the same issue again. I do clean the boiler and follow all required maintenance, and we have soft water here, so I don't know what the problem is. I will send it out for repairs again, but I am disappointed in the repeated problem. When this item works, though, it really is great, and does make ironing faster and easier, as other reviewers have said.
- How Did I Live Without This For So Long?
     By A14PLY2EVG8HVR on 2007-08-04
I just got this and immediately tried it out on 2 very wrinkled cotton and rayon blouses. It worked fantastic! It only took a few minutes to heat up. After pressing the steam button to get it going (no splatters or water drops), it only took a few minutes to iron each shirt. Cut through the wrinkles like butter! It even steamed out wrinkles in the vertical position!
It also worked great ironing out a 3 yard fabric. I sew a lot and the steam ironed out the creases in the folded fabric with no effort whatsoever (these can be very hard to get out). I like the way I can control the amount of steam by how long I press the steam button.
I have a larger ironing board that has a silicone iron holder (not a Rowenta). It's large enough so that the Rowenta DG5030 can rest right on top of it. Although the unit isn't that heavy, even when filled with water, be careful with it on a lighter ironing board. It doesn't have an automatic shut-off, which is perfect for my sewing. Just need to remember to turn it off!
The only thing I wish it had was a water level indicator or a see-thru tank. But I think I can tell when the water is running low. The steam starts to sputter a bit (no dripping).
I am so glad I finally decided to get this and it will definitely make ironing and sewing much easier!!
- Wonderful Iron !!!
     By A2Y2V3GNI6E6VF on 2007-06-20
I received this iron as a gift I had always wanted one but after using my mother-in-laws didn't realize how much I needed one. I iron most of our clothes and it does what it promises, cutting my ironing down to half. I was amazed at the ease of use and the amount of steam this iron creates. Not to mention the length of time I can iron before I have to fill up the tank. It does take a little getting used to as it does take around 7 minutes to warm up and ready to iron, but comparing that to the time you save over-all is not an inconvenience at all. It is a quality product and the iron; because it is not filled with water, is not heavy and is not burden to iron over a long period of time. I would recommend this iron for anyone who wants a professional, time saving, quality product. I look forward to ironing now......well at least I don't dread it like I used to.
- Rowenta DG5030 Pressure Iron & Steamer
     By A3K1VQXWXF6W03 on 2007-06-07
The iron does exactly what it says it can do. The steam is very powerful. I used my own ironing board, and it kept collapsing because of the weight of the iron/tank, so my husband had to modify the ironing board. If you order the Rowenta board, I'm sure this will not be an issue. I wish the tank could hold more water, but in reality I am usually ready to stop ironing by the time the water runs out. You have to remember that you cannot leave water in the tank between ironings, but you don't have to use distilled water!! I have not tried the vertical ironing, but I'm sure it will do fine. It is good to keep a regular iron for quick jobs (and if your kids need to iron), because it does take 7 minutes to heat. Overall it is great!!! Linda
- Great Iron
     By A3GTIKZKY70VLT on 2007-05-29
I lost a bet with my wife -- so I now do all of the ironing. No problem. I like this iron A LOT.
Two things - the O ring was torn on the tank valve (out of the box)-- the valve you screw into the water tank. It takes a 11 x 2.5 mm O ring.
Also, the unit has to completely cool down before adding more water to it.
I waited an hour after unplugging it -- when I poured water into the tank I got a nasty surprise. It looked like an erupting geyser.
Be careful and enjoy ironing (if that's possible).
- My Fourth Rowenta Iron is the Best, so far
     By A2IP0YZ4GZ773Y on 2007-05-30
Rowenta DG5030When I purchased this Rowenta Steam Iron, I did not NEED another iron, but I had read that this was a time-saver so I ordered it. It is indeed a time-saver, but the beauty of this product is how professionally-ironed my clothes look. My husband loves creases on all his pants, and now he jokes that my ironed-in creases can cut butter. BTW, there is no heavy pressure needed, just a spritz of steam to accomplish this feat. Also, the iron does not drip and has a conveniently-positioned steam switch on the underside of the handle so you can spritz while the iron is in motion. I love ironing with this new tool.
- My Rowenta Iron!!!
     By A1GL4KGN6PTMHY on 2007-06-12
I have always wanted an iron like this from when I worked in a laundry / dry cleaners store. I like the ability to be able to set the amount of steam separate from the temperature. I haven't even used it to the limit yet!!!
- Pricey, but it works!
     By A3INN916E4VION on 2007-06-15
This thing should be on the infomercials. Here's something you don't know about till you look for it, and once you use it, you need it.
- Incredible!!!!
     By A3C53UECI0Y0C on 2007-08-22
Oh, how have I lived all these years without one of these!!! Literally. This thing is a dream and saves me so much time. The first time I used it, yesterday, I did three hours ironing in 30 minutes. And the clothes aren't fried. I'm still flabbergasted. The secret is to be as "scientific" as they are about the 33 ounces. And when that water is gone, they probably expect your ironing to be done too. I did have to reload once. I thought it would be a dog to handle with the weight of the cord: that is the easiest part. Not a problem. If you iron, must iron, or love to iron, get this beauty. I think my five hour ironing days are over. Thank you Rowenta.
- Where were you all my life?
     By A3942WJBFNXYHJ on 2007-06-14
unbelievable. My only regret is that I didn't know about this kind of iron 20 years ago when I needed it more. I even let my mom (76 yrs old) try it and she went right out and bought one.
- Rowenta DG5030 Pressure Iron and Steamer
     By A3H5Z7UP7ZDC90 on 2007-06-08
When I say the lady on the T.V. advertising this item, I thought she must be joking because she said something like the following: "I hated ironing and now I love it". Well, I came to find out that this is true. I bought this item because I only needed to use the steamer portion of it more than the ironing, because I hate ironing. NOW, I FIND THAT I CANNOT WAIT TO IRON OR STEAM MY FAMILY'S COTHING! BUY IT! It will change the way you look at doing laundry. By-the-way, it also cuts my time in More than half.
Happy Ironing!

I researched steam irons on the internet to find what I hoped would be an answer to my needs and found it with the Rowenta Steam generator iron! It's very efficient on my Levis and my silk or cotton shirts. With the generous steam feature I can iron a pair of jeans in about 3-5 minutes and really put a crease in them. It is a breeze to do my shirts with too, all the way from the casual to the cotton dress shirts!

- Ironing made easy and cool!
     By A10SE3CCDJ44MF on 2007-11-12
I LOVE THIS SYSTEM
It seems awfully strange to rave about an iron, but I love this iron/steamer enough that I need to post a review! First some context:
CONTEXT
I iron occasionally and hate forking over $2 to have my shirts laundered at the dry cleaner. I had been surviving with the $15 variety of iron until I borrowed a friends iron in France and loved it. It was similar to the Rowenta model above. It seems that these systems are more the norm in Continental Europe.
IRONING IS BORING NO MORE!
Let's face it, ironing is boring. This system changes that... When I first used the iron, it was with several friends (we were getting ready to go out). No one was paying much attention until I started the ironing. The room filled with steam: looking like some kind of rock spectacle. It was amazing!!! There's star appeal to this iron! Now that I have started using the iron in a regular context it's enjoyable and efficient. The whole contraption feels of quality. Where I used to iron one or two shirts at a time, I now iron five or six. It's hard to put the system down! Indeed I started looking at the kitchen dish towels wondering if I should iron them! Thicker edges flatten much faster and there are no water leaks (unless you start ironing before 5 minutes have elapsed from turning on the iron).
STEAMING
I haven't used the system to steam clothes (as opposed to ironing) but I did steam my child's silk scarf. My wife held it in front of the steamer and it almost blew away! Amazing. No water by the way (as others have suggested)
ISSUES
Several reviewers cautioned that this system spits water and also complained about the long warm up time and the lack of a water level indicator. I have had no issue with the water spitting (as long as you wait five minutes for the system to warm up and allow the first "whoosh" of steam to remove any idle water condensation in the tube). As to the warm up time and level indicator, there are likely no easy solutions. The tub is large (33 oz.) and it is inevitable that it will take time to heat this water to the point of producing steam. Additionally the pressurized tank would be compromised with a water level indicator. The tube will need refilling when the steam stops coming.
REFILLING OF RESERVOIR
This brings up an issue of mine. The refilling of the tub (and emptying of the tub) requires some care. You really need to make sure that the tub is fully cooled before opening the top. Pressurized hot water is problematic. If you are the typical ironer (ie. have OCD), you may be inclined to empty the tub after every ironing session. Don't! Opening the sealed cover if after a couple of minutes leads to an almost violent splatter of steam. You're best to leave the water in the reservoir for the next session (and top-up/empty the water before the system has been turned on).
SIX FOOT STEAM TUBE
Lastly, several reviewers have referred to the 9 foot steam tube. Ours (purchased in November 2007) has only a 6 foot steam tube. This may be responsible for the fact that I never observed water-spitting.
MID-LIFE CRISIS
Some people buy a Ferrari, others buy real estate during their mid-life crises. I resolved my issues with a really nice steamer/iron. Very cool!
Happy Ironing!
- Could be better
     By A1Z48H3MZ5XCB6 on 2007-05-25
I bought this steam generator and expected nothing but great results, however, there are several issues to contend with: one is always guessing how much water there is left, the heavy cord sort of gets in the way (can't hang it out of the way as with the old iron, and lastly, the trigger to shot the steam is rather small, even for my small fingers (not as user friendly as others). I'm disappointed with this model, perhaps Rowenta is working on a better one with a visible water tank, etc. I say, better wait a while.

Love this iron. Makes it so easy.
- Pretty good
     By A3PI78CAC2YGDP on 2007-09-20
It works as advertised. However, I was expecting it to produce more steam than what I saw. It heats up fairly fast, all things considered. In the end, this is one heck of an iron.
- Just Okay
     By ASQZXHXCAS5W on 2007-06-21
Once you've used a steam generator iron, you'll never go back. This is my third one, but the Rowenta is surely not the best. No matter where the steam setting is set, it still tends to "drip". Quite annoying. The plastic guard on the cord is way to high and makes ironing uncomfortable on the wrist. I'd go back to my Black and Decker, but they discontinued the model. Darn it. In Europe, they make tons of brands (Tefal, Moulinex, Krups) but not for the American market. Come on manufacturers, lots of us love natural fabrics and we still iron! Give us some choices. But if you iron on a regular basis, you MUST use a steam generator iron. It will truly cut your ironing time in half. The reservoir holds three times as much water as a regular iron and the steam gets three times as hot so the sole plate doesn't have to be as hot...hence, no scorching. Your clothes end up looking like they were pressed by a dry cleaner. Really.
- Poor quality control
     By A1WX6WTO38S4E2 on 2007-11-30
The reviews sounded great. The product seemed great. The problem is that the quality control is anything but great. Twice, the thermostats were defective, which was perhaps why the iron kept spitting -- at one point ruining my wife's linen jacket with water spots.
It's true that the iron delivers copious amounts of steam. Should you happen to get one that holds the temperature and doesn't spit -- and if you like your ironing device BIG -- you may well love it. But for me, it was just not worth the effort.

THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT. CUTS IRONING TIME IN HALF !!!

     By AOLWP3B0VESAN on 2007-10-21
It is great iron and makes life much easier. The only thing I don't like about it is that is does squirt water out in the beginning. I usually have to press the steam button for awhile to get out the water. But other I get my ironing done so much faster.
- Questionable STEAMing issue
     By A2IN89KQB405YF on 2007-12-10
Ordered ROWENTA DG5030 Pressure Iron & Steamer product on 11/06/07 & it worked GREAT for 3 weeks. Now it is spitting water instead of producing steam when the steam button is pressed. Checked troubleshooting guide online & awaiting response from ROWENTA. Hopefully, this is just a Water issue, but uncertain as I only use drinking water in the product. Otherwise, the first three weeks was wonderful. It quickly pressed jeans etc wwith one stroke vs. several strokes.
- Fails after two years
     By A2XW620QJGQA0W on 2008-01-13
My second DG5030 has just failed after two years. The first one just about made it to that. I have four children so the iron is on every day but even so i think it should have lasted a little longer.
I read what everyone said about the spitting water. Both my irons had this problem and it is an issue that you cannot fix no matter how careful you are about what kind of water you use and how often you clean etc.
I want to buy another iron but i am reluctant to buy another one of these - i will keep looking.
- Works great until..............
     By A3KQDS51N49VZ7 on 2008-01-30
Got this iron as a gift in September 2007 and returned it in December 2007. Yes when it works its fantastic but the washer on the boiler plug/tap (where you pour the water in - the bit that screws into that) kept disintegrating. I first contacted Rowenta and they were happy to send me more washers but advised I get a few as it was a known problem.
With angst I returned it to the store because when it was working it really was wonderful and coming from the UK where there are many many choices of steam generating irons and here - not so much it was a tough call but it wasn't working and Rowenta didn't advise me keeping it!. I'm now looking at the Reliable 450A - anyone got any experience let me know.
- Rowenta Iron
     By ADW005RK2C3TX on 2007-09-19
I first used the Rowenta when visiting family in Switzerland. It was so marvelous that as soon as we returned to the US, I went on line and ordered it for myself. It makes ironing unbelieveably easy. It's still not fun to iron, but now it's not the chore it was before I used the Rowenta. Everyone should use one.
- Great Product
     By A2PVQ1OH6D1981 on 2007-10-02
I just love my new "steamer". Money is well worth spend, for it cuts my ironing-time to a record low. Fast delivery. Recommended to everyone.
- What a wonderful machine!!
     By A2E8IFRFU5A7IE on 2007-12-07
I have been using Rowenta irons for many years now, and was very excited with this new version of the iron with a water tank. Not having to have the water stored in a tank on the iron makes the iron itself much lighter, something very important for me as I'm an older person and do a lot of sewing.
I also appreciate the fact that it can get it to iron hotter than most other irons...I use mostly natural fabrics that require very hot irons...cotton and linen in particular.
The steam feature is marvelous...this is very handy when it comes to fabrics like velvet and corduroy.
It does a wonderful job and, if it lasts as long with minimum upkeep as its predecessor did, I will be overjoyed.
