  • Amazing for price, but be careful!

    By A3EXW09GT07NP6 on 2007-06-14
This 4 channel RC helicopter is in my opinion the best out there for under $100. Response from the controls is snappy and precise once trimmed correctly. Durabilitiy has yet to be attained, as I would see most people buying this particular model would be relatively new and inexperienced to the world of RC Helicopters

Battery lasts for about 10 minutes and takes 40 mins - 1 hr to charge fully
Tail rotor is cosmetic only, but still cool
Indicator on transmitter for batter power, and led on helicopter for battery life left in li-ion battery(sometimes hard to see)

    Pros-
    Price
    Speed and control
    Looks
BEST BY FAR IN CLASS FOR TRIM ADJUSTMENTS! CANT BE BEAT FOR PRICE!

    Cons-
Somewhat lacking on durability for an entry level helicopter
Notched throttle provides lack of precise control for hover flight, unlike a spring tension throttle (Only on occasion however)

  • What a piece of junk.....

    By A2GSFR1TVGUBTG on 2007-08-07
I have a few RC Helis and a simulator. Ordered this and promptly crashed within 10 seconds. Baffled, I ordered replacement blades and stabilizer bar. Next try, very carefully started to fly after physically checking everything out. RC controller went to full throttle even though trims and stick were at zero. Immediately turned the controller off but motor kept running. Reset, started again, hovered for 5 seconds and then motor went to full throttle without me touching anything and crashed. Electronics are junk. Too bad because it could be a fun toy to play with rather than my Esky birds.

This helocopter is a lot of fun. It's a little tricky to get the hang of at first, but once I got used to it I've had a blast with it. My friend had gotten one or two other copters that were way too fragile and says this is much more durable, but it does require some on site maintenance. It came with replacement blades, which is the most common thing to break. The one big down side we've encountered has been finding replacement parts. You can find them online, but no one seems to have them in stock. It states that this is supposed to be an indoor toy, but unless you have access to a gymnasium size room, you'll definately want to be taking this outdoors on a calm day.

  • Not a good beginner model

    By A8LBB9KU7HQ0S on 2008-01-08
Like many I monkey'd around with the smaller Havoc Helicopters and thought this a good next step. I now realize cheaper isn't better, this is $100 I'll never see again
This is not a good first helicopter; the parts are only available mail order and usually shipping costs as much as the parts. The controls are super sensitive and not good for a beginner.
It looks cool and maybe more experienced RC people can control it but the parts issue makes it too costly.
Trust me spend the extra dough and check out the Blade CX2 by e-flight its way better for a first time helicopter. Extremely stable and responds well plus parts are as close as your nearest hobby store and it's Fun.

  • RC Apache Heli 4 channel

    By A2XRBAPATPXP9 on 2008-01-07
I have found thhe Helicopter extremely hard to find any parts for, and considering how hard the machine is to just get to a stable hover, replacement parts are important. I would not buy this again

  • Fun Toy, if you know how to make it work , & fix everytime
    By A1VL6XFRL2NALY on 2008-01-04
I got this from handheld items couple months ago. Remember the box indicates that is only for adults 15+ or older, and they mean it. It has about 8 controls the the remote and it's not easy to calibrate it. You need some background or a lot of patience, before you can get it off the floor, let alone flying it.

IMPORTANT: The unit and the remote arrives calibrated. So, DON'T EVER ADJUST the controls on the remote except for the throttle and direction. All other controls/trims usually come adjusted and set from the factory. If you change it, you're in trouble. If you've trouble , then instead of adjusting it, just return it and ask the tech dept at handheld to calibrate and send it back to you.

I had to return this to handheld items, the first time, because I couldn't get it off the ground. But they denied refund. Although I was a little mad, they fixed the problem, and they perfectly calibrated it and send it back to me. Not to mention I loved the helicopter very much, and someone wanted to fly it. Also make sure you never learn this on hard floor or bare ground. You'll break it. Try practicing on soft grass or indoor soft carpet. The damage will be less.

I don't know, you can probably ask handhelditems when you buy it, to test it and calibrate it and send it to you instead of sending you a factory sealed package. They're good it at.

The technology is excellent, but the construction is somewhat POOR. Although unlike smaller rc helicopters, it has significant weight, which is what damages it quickly if you're not careful. If you're not good at it, it can crash and you'll loose the blades , crack the chassis, and the weights and rip the rotor bindings and so on . For $85, what can you expect. I only hope if they can construct the same in a much more solid and lasting construction. But then, you won't spend your money on buying parts. Coz, the great thing about this toy, it can be assembled part by part, and generally you can get all the parts. You will learn what makes a helicopter fly, after you change few parts down the road, and even learn to assemble one from scratch.

Very powerful, don't ever tighten the blades. The rotar generates so much wind power, it can blow hard stuff off your table. The blades are supposed to be loose and flexible. If you tighten, you'll rip the blades off, and cut yourself too (very powerful motors).

And again, it's no kids toy. Your kid will break it in 10 mins. You might as well throw that money in the trash. Even most adults have huge problems calibrating it.

  • Apache Helicopter RC
    By A2JPLOCDAMHTXF on 2008-02-08
This helicopter was fairly easy to set up but, the parts are made of extremely cheap materials. It is not very durable, light crashes tend to break parts easily. However, it is fun or at least was while it lasted. If it is going to be your first RC helicopter be prepared to buy a lot of replacement parts and a lifetime supply of super glue. I would recommend buying one that you can get metal replacement parts for first. Overall I would not recommend this product and I would do a lot of research before buying one.RC Apache Helicopter 4 Channel Remote Control Ready To Fly

  • FUN!!!!
    By A3VER7MRWPZU3X on 2008-01-09
It took a bit of getting used too, but once you figure out how the trimming works and the sensitivity of the controls (which you can adjust) this toy is a BLAST!!

It seems more durable then I thought it would be. It took a few hard crashes from about 6 feet up into a brick fireplace to even chip a rotor (new rotors are included) and even with the giant chip missing it still flies great!

The instructions aren't that great as the translation is poor, however you can still figure out what they're talking about.

I've easily gotten about 20 minutes of consistent use at one sitting without recharging it from before, so overall I want to say the battery included lasts at least 30-40 minutes. You'd probably have a heating issue before the battery actually died.

The only complaint I can think of is it can be kind of a pain to remove the battery each time you want to turn it off. I think a power switch would have been a good investment.

Overall, this was completely worth the purchase!!

  • excellently

The product is very good, resistant, has his(its) complexity of managing because it(he) is advanced, I repent neither of the buy, nor of the time for that I had to wait in order that it(he,she) was coming to venezuela, quite very well, excellently, thank you

Be very carefull of the landings. It can strip the plastic gear on the rotor if you land wrong.

got this for my husband for Christmas - really enjoy watching a 66 year old child

  • Not for the beginner..............
    By A1C2GE8A5VCTW1 on 2008-07-22
This Apache has a very snappy and responsive motor. Once you have set the trim then the fun begins. Unfortunately my first test flight lasted less then five seconds. The entire rotor head popped off causing it to louse the roller bearings on the rotor head. Mine was one of the defective models Manufactured. Overall this powerhouse will give the average flyer hours of entertainment and pleasure.

  • Easy to fly but not much in flying forward - the price is still high!
    By A3IP5D5YXYDOJG on 2008-08-14
This is a fun heli... very easy to ply but I wish if it can go forward a little bit quicker.
Sometimes, it is very difficult to connect the battery to the heli... the wire hardness is not friendly to connect.

I think nowadays rc e-heli is more common in the market, so its price should be dropped lower, I think about under $50 instead of $99 or so.

  • Nice, but many problems
    By A1FLTVP46QGKEQ on 2008-08-26
This machine is great if it would stay in adjustment. Unfortunately it does not. I was constantly tinkering just to get it in the air. Finally one motor simply turns slower that the other and once that happens, you cannot get it to fly. (It just lifts off and spins)Basically junk. Poor directions too.

  • Worth the cost, but you have to be careful
    By A412CO2UBOMX0 on 2008-09-23
I bought the helicopter a while ago. It's a very nice looking Apache Longbow. The only real complaint is that
the tail propeller was broken when I received the package, but it's a decoration (all the functionality is in the main rotor). It's a 4 channel heli, which means that if you want a simple to fly, take off-and-go -style heli, you should go for cheaper 2-channel versions. This beast is very controllable but for beginners, requires larger area and soft ground (grass or something similar preferable). It's mostly an indoor heli, but you can fly it outside when it is not windy. And I recommend to practise flying it outside, as it breaks relatively easily: many parts are made of plastic instead of carbon or metal. Fortunately the additional parts are very cheap (the part that broke costs something like $3, so I'm thinking of buying 10 of those).

The instruction manual is relatively good, though a bit terse at times. However, this is my first flyable RC and my second RC vehicle overall, and more experienced users would probably find it more easy to handle and fly.
