LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castlex$199.99
    (15 reviews)
Best Price: $89.99 $199.99
Harry and his friends are back for the fifth year at Hogwarts and they have a new defense against the dark arts professor, the nasty Dolores Umbridge. Find the hidden book, document and envelope, reclaim the confiscated items from Umbridge's office, and re-enact the story and more, with the Room of Requirements. The green House and characters are straight from the movie. Also, it includes nine mini figures totally it has 943 pieces. Harry Potter is entering his fifth year at Hogwarts, and now you can replay important scenes from the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix book, movie, or even make up your own adventures. Legos are perfect for social play, and this Hogwarts castle set provides loads of exploration and cooperative play with 943 pieces. | Set includes step-by-step color diagrams showing how to complete the model. | The set is modeled so that, when constructed, it recreates the look and feel of the Order of the Phoenix film. Several unique rooms are represented here, including the Room of Requirement, where Harry can get just about anything he wishes (provided he walks past it three times). The greenhouse provides a place where Hermione can tend a potted mandrake, which is included. There's even a fireplace through which Harry could exchange messages with Sirius Black, only there are no owls included. The accessory pieces of the set are loads of fun. It includes orange flames, tiny goblets, trophy ribbons, jewels, magic books, charts and many other interesting pieces. While most Lego playsets come with just a few minifigs, this one is packed with almost the entire cast. Harry and his companions Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley are included, along with Hogwarts staffers Hagrid, Professors Dumbledore, Snape, and the evil Dolores Umbridge. Potter will also have to contend with his nemesis, a newly designed Draco Malfoy who sports a mischievous grin, and a Death Eater. The playset also introduces two Thestral minifigs modeled after the large, winged, skeletal horses from the fifth installment. With almost a thousand pieces, kids between 7 and 12 will likely take a few hours to put it all together into a finished playset. Fortunately, Lego includes colorful, step-by-step diagrams that makes construction--pardon me for saying it--a snap. And unlike other, non-Lego playsets, this can be broken down and re-assembled into many different combinations. | | Hogwarts Castle comes with nine minifig characters from the story. | The downside, though, is that Lego packages all of the tiny plastic parts in bags that don't reseal. You might want to consider getting one of those parts organizers to keep the pieces well sorted between assemblies or at least safe from Lord Voldemort. --Porter B. Hall

Not just another Hogwarts... By A3AFKG34NTPUO7 on 2007-06-25
For the third addition to the LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle, we are treated to a true addition. The set matches up quite nicely with previous offerings from the LEGO line and offers plenty of new Hogwarts adventure to make it feel like a truly new location.
This set was purchased for my 8 year old daughter on her birthday. The delightful elements, colors and unique characters sold it for her wish list. As her father and a fan of all things LEGO, naturally we built it together. Together we spent 2 1/2 hours on the construction, and each portion of the set is contained in numbered bags that you do not open until you reach the step in the construction that requires those parts. That limits confusion; after all it is 943 pieces. When I was a kid the largest set I had was probably only half that size. A benefit to my daughter was the inclusion of no fewer than three female minifigures, two with LEGO hair! That's always a plus for her ;)
Though it is large and can take some time to build it is very educational. Structures and supports are all well used in this set. The step by step build process meant that at certain points in the process my daughter could have a completed tower, Herbology Classroom or another portion of the set already complete for a few moments of diversion. Older kids, and adults will likely have no trouble at all with the time it takes. Younger kids naturally are going to need a little help or they might find it overwhelming.
A great LEGO set, full of exploration, character and fun. Definitely a family moment. You'll be eager to play with your child with this one. Or just get one for yourself. It's great.
FUN! By A1P7MUVCQ6RKUI on 2007-07-05
This is the first big Lego set I have bought for my kids, who are 7 & 11. We worked together to build it and I have to say that the instructions were very well done. Even my 7yo was able to follow them with just minimal help.
I agree with the previous poster, that the numbering of the bags was a plus. And with all the mini figures included, my kids will actually be PLAYING with this set instead of just building it and setting it on a shelf to collect dust.
I was a huge Lego fan as a kid and this set brought back the fun.
That's not just good, its brilliant By A3MBSO1OGHNHFU on 2007-07-09
Okay, there is another Hogwarts Castle available. however, with its price being nearly $500. I think this smaller version is just as fantastic! My son likes to pretend he is Harry or Ron on one of their wild adventures thru. the castle. He also likes the fact you can divide the castle into sections and carry one peice at a time. I recommend this Lego if you like Harry and his friends as much as we do.
My only concern would be to be very careful, as any with any Lego, the castle can come apart if played with too rough.
For Harry Potter and Lego Fans By A2AVRLGL4U61VP on 2007-09-04
I bought this for my sons birthday. First of all in my opinion Legos are over priced to begin with but the kids love them and they keep them out of my hair for hours. With that said, This product keeps up to the standards that Legos adheres to. They are high quality indestructable little toys. A side from the sweeper finding a few pieces here and there they last forever. It goes together in sections which makes it nice for my son who is 9 years old. He and his friends when they are tired with the standard design will make a million other things with it. This lego is no different than other legos its provides hours and hours of enjoyment and help in a childs creativity and skills.
The Lego Hogwarts Castle By A1N81EZUPRBIU0 on 2007-09-23
It took my kid and I 4 fun days to put it all together. From then on, it's her own exclusive source of fun - she plays with it daily, re-enacting scenes from the book, making new ones. A few minor parts cape off during play with another kid - the fire in the fireplace where Sirius showed up.
I wish Lego would sell separately a few other characters (Sirius,Bellatrix, Ginny, Lupin and especially Fred and George, Dobby etc).
But I had always been a Lego fan, and I am more so after getting this.
- Hogwart's Castle

My 10 year old daughter received the castle for Christmas. She enjoys all things Harry Potter and LOVES the castle. She had no difficulty putting the castle together (it took her about 3 hours). She especially likes the greenhouse. She likes how Lego includes all sorts of small details in the kit that are discussed in the Harry Potter books, e.g Sirius Black's head in the fireplace.
- Comes apart easily
     By A154Z6NH7AS7HP on 2007-09-12
As with all large Lego projects, this one is difficult to put together. The kids love Harry Potter, and like the idea of having this castle. The only problem I have had with these sets is that once assembled, you can't really "play" with them. They come easily apart, and the thought of re-assembling them is so discouraging! If there were a Hogwarts castle that wasn't comprised of Legos, I would have much preferred that. Seeing how there is not, this is the only game in town.

I purchased the Hogwart Castle for my 9 year old grandson's birthday. He and his 7 year old sister really enjoyed the challenge of putting it together. It took organization of the colored pieces and following the pictures in the directional booklet. They would play with the characters as they worked on building the castle. I feel it was a good Lego toy for chilren who have read all the Harry Potter books and know the characters and stories.
- The best Lego thing ever!
     By on 2007-12-30
This is the best Lego thing ever! Before I saw this, I thought that Legos were just blocks of plastic that you put together, then take down. I was wrong! This is so much fun ( the best part is messing up the characters.). It was a lot smaller than I imagined when it got put together, but it is good because if you have other Legos, you can sort of add parts to it (so far I have made a house for Ron, a bed for Hermione, and a chair for Harry.). The only thing is that when you have made the table and chairs and you make your characters sit down, it is really hard to pick them back up without picking up the chairs and part of the floor too!

I bought this for my grandson's 6th birthday. Even though he does not read, he was able to follow the instructions for building the castle by looking at the pictures and diagrams. He needed a little help at times in identifying pieces by their length. Since I have read the first two Harry Potter books to him, he was very interested in the Lego castle. He spent two days engrossed in the building of the castle. There were many small details that made the castle worth the extra cost, and the figures of the Harry Potter character's were also a plus. After it was together, he really didn't do much with it, but the assembly, for him, made this his favorite gift.
