(48 reviews)

Best Price: $39.99 $24.99

Imagine... sailing through uncharted waters as the captain of your very own pirate ship. Each day you're dodging danger and searching for hidden treasure. If you and your crew run into trouble, drop your anchor and reveal your hidden cannons. This action-packed pirate ship lets kids explore the uncharted corners of their imagination. Measures 19"L x 7.5"W x 18.5"H.

Adventures on the high seas abound with the Fisher Price Imaginext Adventures Pirate Ship. Designed for children ages three and older, the pirate ship comes complete with its own pirates, treasure, and more -- ready to sail where your child's imagination takes it!

Plenty of Imaginative Action
The pirates have plenty to do, thanks to special "action points" all over the ship. Your child can simply place a pirate on one of the ship's five special areas, turn the figure, and watch the action! The pirates can lower the ship's sails, drop the anchor, and fire the three hidden cannons. Two pirates can even fight a duel, and the captain can extend the plank for some unlucky soul to walk.

Built Tough for Adventurous Journeys
Like all Fisher Price toys, the Adventures Pirate Ship is built tough, with larger pieces that are easier and safer for little hands to manipulate. It includes three pirates with interchangeable hats and swords, a treasure map, treasure chest filled with treasure, and a cannon that really works. Additional accessories are sold separately. Your child will have hours of fun entering an imaginary world of adventure. However, pirates should use this ship on an imaginary sea only -- it's not built for use in real water. The pirate ship measures about 19 by 7.5 by 18.5 inches. It does not require any batteries.

What's in the Box

  • Lots of fun, and very durable

    By AQO0IC7P9NU4X on 2007-11-14
We bought this pirate ship in October 2007, and haven't had any of the problems with it coming apart that some earlier reviewers mentioned. (Perhaps the 2007 version is improved?) We're actually very happy with this toy--it is very well designed, with just the right balance between functionality and durability. There are lots of things to do (raise/lower the sails, the anchor, fire the canons three different ways, etc.), and everything works well and holds up to the normal amount of abuse that a four-year-old and his 2-year-old brother can dish out. One of our kids' favorite toys, and one of ours as well.

  • My son loves this ship!

    By A2EADBQS8Y218O on 2007-10-20
My 4 year old got this for his birthday. He hasn't been one to play with toys much. He prefers video games, so to keep those kind of things to a minimum, I am looking for toys to keep his interest. He has played with this nearly every day for a month, and still seems excited about it. He likes the cannons that really shoot, the sails that open and close and the figures. His older siblings enjoy playing with him too.
It encourages open ended play and imagination which is great!

  • My daughter loves it!

    By A2T0V3PY8FS783 on 2007-10-26
My 3 year old daughter really loves pirates (think Wiggle's Captain Feathersword). When she got this for her 3rd birthday, I was not happy - she was supposed to be getting the Little Tykes version. She absolutly loves it, as does my 5 year old son, and our 40ish year old neighbors and their teenage girls! The only downside is there are lots of small accessories that can easily be lost. Other than that, this is really neat!

  • Glue Would Help

    By AW1FM4WF9YJM0 on 2007-10-14
I bought this for my son's 4th birthday this year. While he really enjoys playing with it, he get frustrated that it falls apart VERY easily. My husband finally glued the hull of the ship together (leaving everything else to be able to pull apart) and that did the trick. This is a good step up from the Little People pirate ship.

  • 2007 Is new version

    By A382E5R2S4P7LI on 2007-11-06
My son got this last Christmas(2006), and we were all excited. But within days we found the ship kept coming apart even with very little force applied while he was playing. It soon docked to the side of the room and made a voyage every once-in-a-while when my son saw something pirate like, but then was left for us to clean up and repair.

I don't know if the 2007 version is better, but it certainly looks better with a lot more features. If the ship's hull comes apart in various pieces, I would hesitate to buy it. Try it out in the store first if you can or don't be afraid to return it if your child gets frustrated after a week(keep in mind your store's return policy)

If it was fixed for 2007, it seems like it would be worth buying. It only gets 3 stars for fun because of the frustration the 2006 version causes

  • One toy that might last to see grandchildren
    By AXMS6IO54B1BJ on 2007-11-18
Very few of my 3 1/2 year old sons toys do I envision worthy and durable enough to get passed down to his children.....but this one has a lot of neat functions as the other reviewers noted, and in my opinion is very solid and durable.....and requires NO BATTERIES!!! The only complaint is that the box did not highlight all the cool things it does, nor did it come with directions, so I am just finding out bit by bit all the little things it can do (i.e. the pirates armor is removable, the cannon balls can launch one at a time or all three together out either side of the ship doors). I wish I had a 3, 4, or 5 year old boy to buy for this holiday....this is the toy I would buy....quality toy, great price, and a lot of fun.

  • Pirate treasure
    By AJLH9JXF9K7EH on 2007-11-23
I got this for my son's 3rd birthday because he likes pirates. He and his 5 yr old sister have had so much fun playing with it. I love all the neat things that it does: shooting cannons, pirates that sword fight on the back (aft?) of the ship, the sails go up and down, the anchor can be dropped and raised, and the flags, rails, emblems can all be rearranged so it holds their attention for a long time. The only drawback is keeping all the pieces together- my daughter likes to scavange parts to play with her little pet shop pets. It has been very durable and we haven't had any problem with it. Another bonus is that when William usually plays pirates he grabs his sword and starts the attack. When he plays pirate with this ship the attack is kept in his imagination, where it belongs. I would buy it again.

  • Best Pirate ship out there
    By A1VXIY1511XQK2 on 2007-12-24
this is my sons second pirate ship and i have to say this one is MUCH better than his previous. with his first one there were so many little pieces to lose and lots of parts that came off on the ship, so my son basically broke it. this one is VERY sturdy, and the pieces have a place somewhere on the ship and it does so much! you can pretend to be having a sword fight on the back of the ship, there are cannons that pop out the side of the ship that fire cannon balls pretty far. there's also an anchor and the sails open and close! not a lot of pieces come off so tehre isn't much to lose. it has wheels on the bottom so it can roll along. this ship has been GREAT for my son. i highly recommend it.

  • Great Durable Toy
    By A14CV1FG7DY54I on 2007-12-27
I love this toy, it's so much fun and it's durable. I hate toys that fall apart. This toy is well made and can withstand a lot of abuse. My 4 year old uses it for all his guys and he bangs it up pretty good and it still looks brand new. We love it!!!!

  • Great toy!
    By A2NTO2BEU8102Q on 2007-12-28
We bought this for our 4 year old son and he LOVES it. We have not had any problems with durability as mentioned in other recent posts. We bought this along with the Imaginext Adventure Castle and between the two, it keeps him entertained for hours. I would recommend - very fun!

  • Fisher-Price imaginex Adventures Pirate Ship
    By A2GEI2JOVQHMX1 on 2007-12-28
My grand children are 4 and were thrilled when they opened the Imaginex Adventure Pirate Ship. I do not have any further feedback yet as to how they like playing with it. What I do know is this; when I ordered from Amazon.com, I thought this was the latest model. Then I saw it advertised elsewhere and noticed addional accesory parts were included with the set that did not come with the one from Amazon. I tried to get the addional parts seperately but have not been successful in doing so. Although my grandsons and possibly there parents are not aware of the omission I was dissapointed.

  • WOW!!! Pirate Fun!!!
    By AVR6DRPSUOBLJ on 2007-12-28
This toy is awesome!!! Talk about fun for everyone! I was trying to figure out the MANY things it could do and I got lost playing with it for about an hour! Oh...and my son has fun with it too. ;)

  • Probably best for a four year old
    By A2DVBW9N2N3EXP on 2007-12-31
I got this toy for my son who is about to turn three. I was excited to get it for him since he has started to play and pretend with his cars and spaceships that he has. But sadly he hasn't really got into it. I see it as being really cool and fun to play with but I think he's just not there yet for play and pretend. But all he's been interested in are the three molded together canons that shoot out little canonballs. Although he's lost all but one now.

It's a big toy. About the size of a large breadbox. But it has lots of cool things with it. The sails go up and down, the anchor can be dropped and it comes with plastic gold coins and a treasure map. I'm hoping he'll grow into having fun with the toy but for a three year old and where he is with his development, he's just not quite there. But a four year old may love it. Especially if they love pirates.

  • Favorite toy

I bought this toy for Christmas. It turns to be his favorite toy and best of all he can share it with his 5 year old brother.

  • LOVES IT!
    By A22KGF8HO7FD0B on 2007-12-27
This was the "golden gift" this year for Christmas. My son loves it!! He has played with it nonstop and he continues to discover new actions in the ship. Very sturdy, well worth the money!!

  • imaginex pirate ship
    By A3C0ZRQ4S8ARCA on 2007-12-27
My boys, age three & one-half, and six & one-half, enjoy playing with it, although we wish it included more figures. And the cannons are a little finicky for young hands to set in place and deploy the cannon "missiles".

  • Arrrr. It's a great toy
    By A35WFJKQCKDIXX on 2008-06-02
This has proven to be a fairly durable and enjoyable toy. This ship and a castle have taken the place of Thomas on the train table. Many an action figure have walked the plank. Although you don't have the "educational" value of a ship you assemble, it is really nice that it doesn't come apart. This is basicly one piece. It rests in the ocean (a large piece of blue felt) teaming with sea creatures. *The place where characters battle broke almost immediately - only one place moves. However, the rest is sturdy.

  • Lots of Fun
    By A2ALRQTLAA7XMG on 2008-06-25
Bought this toy for my 5 1/2 year old grandson. He loves pirates and his eyes just lit up when the ship arrived. I think it will be one of those toys that if taken care of will be passed on to the next generation.

A high priority on grandson's wish list. He became a pirate and really loved the treasure chest!

  • Excellent and creative play toy
    By A1MRGD5TIH70YZ on 2007-12-22
I purchased this item for one of my nephews based on two things: 1)my nephew requested it, and 2) another nephew of mine has the same toy and has gotten several hours of play time out of it. He is a little rough and tumble tike with a big imagination. It is an excellent, durable toy.

  • Fun, but limited
    By A1KZKUUZJA6DN7 on 2007-12-25
The pirate ship certainly captures the imagination of a child, but there are small pieces that are easily lost, such as the bolts that the cannons shoot. I mean, if you're shooting something across a room, you're more likely to loose it in the first place. But let's also make it reaaally small and hard to see. Second, the functions that the ship does have are limited. For example, the description says that you can twist the pirates and move the sails. Yes, you can. You can move them down. But first you have to put them up. It seems reasonable to expect them to be able to move up AND down. But no.

Anyway, the most important thing is that a child enjoys the toy, and that it sparks his or her imagination. This toy does that. Who doesn't love pirates? Except the navy and the merchant marines, that is.

It's a fun toy. It's worth the money, if it's on sale. But I'm hoping that they'll make improvements in the future.

Incidentally, there's also an imaginex castle that my nephew got for Christmas. Let's just say there was an epic battle in grandma's living room.

  • Great toy,
    By AC0FPPKM1RLO2 on 2007-12-26
My 3 yr old son loves it and won't stop playing. There are all sorts of "hidden" play pieces: retractable plank, sails that go up and down, cannons holes that open. Can't say enough good things. He's content, happy and quiet!

  • Entertains for long stretches of time
    By A1NV8PSCD4BM2V on 2007-12-26
PROS: My son, who is 4 1/2 years old likes the toy very well. He will play with it for long stretches (about 30 - 45 minutes) at a time. It has many parts he can move; cannons, anchor, sails, plank, open and close the the hold of the ship. Characters each have a sword or scimitar. The turtle is big. Shp is a nice large size. So far it seems very durable, have not had problems with it falling apart.

CONS: 1.The hold where the cannons are stowed, will not close if one of the figures in "manning the cannons" and my son would get frustrated. I resolved by telling my son that in ships the hold must remain open when people are in. He seemed satisfied.
    2. the cannon balls look extremely dangerous to me, so I just threw them away. They are marble sized balls with a long extension. They are meant to shoot out of the cannons. I have younger kids and these cannon balls look too much like lolly-pops.
    3. Sometimes the figures are a little unstable if not pushed in well on the specially designed platforms and they they fall off, but eventually he learned to push them in well.

  • Nice Toy
    By A2QP4V08EMJAXA on 2007-12-29
My 5 year old son received this toy from Santa and really likes it. He especially likes shooting the cannons and lowering the anchor. He has been playing with this toy more than the other toys he received for Christmas.

  • so...so
    By AVVI5IALMQHFX on 2007-12-30
When I saw this toy in holiday circulars, I wanted my son to have it because I thought it looked way cool. (You know...one of those toys you wouldn't mind playing with on Christmas morning.) It was well received and extracted out of the box immediately. Currently, it lies on the floor largely unnoticed. To be fair, I have yet to set up the cannons and all the other accesories that compliment the pirate ship and I am confident that once we have "souped" it up, interest will increase. I am a huge fan of Imaginext toys because they are durable and have kept my boys occupied for years. The other Imaginext toys in our house owe me NOTHING and I am sure once the commotion of the holidays dies down, this toy will not dissapoint!

  • My 4 yr old Son Loves This Ship
    By A36VFRXZAHXSPY on 2008-01-03
I wasn't expecting much with this toy. To me, it seemed like just another big piece of plastic that would end up outside, eventually making its way to the charity pile.

However, truth be told, my son adores this ship. When he opened this Christmas present he was immediately enthralled. He sat and played with it for TWO HOURS! I could hardly believe my eyes. It's very rare that he plays with anything for 2 hours (his Legos being the exception). Rarer still, he continues to consistently play with it.

The sails go up and down and there are several other operative parts to this vessel. It comes a 3 barreled cannon, a treasure chest, treasure map, ship medallions/shields and 2 figures, a captain and a regular pirate. Two figures are not enough for any real play. You need more pirates to make the ship come alive, For example, there needs to be a pirate at each set of sails. You snap the figure into place and then twist them, which causes the sails to open; same thing with the plank, etc. With only 2 figures no one is manning the ship if the 2 are having a sword fight.

Another review mentioned the ship falling apart. It may be that she received a faulty one, because, quite truthfully, I have found this to be a very sturdy toy, and doesn't show any sign of breaking or coming apart. In fairness, though, my son isn't hard on his toys.

Overall, I'd recommend this pirate ship. I know my son definitely would.

My 5 yr. old son saw this toy while we were in K mart. He was crushed when I told him that Santa told me he was making him one. Of all the gifts he received on Christmas, this one was "THE" gift. Weeks later, and he still plays with it frequently. We are very pleased with this toy.

  • Very entertaining for 4 year olds
    By on 2008-01-15
The ship has enough features to keep my almost-4-year old interested. It is very sturdy - he has tested that to the max! Although it is not a bath toy and sinks in water - it has stood up well to numerous bath time sails, and is easy to drain. The shields and cannonballs (actually lollypop shaped pieces) are easy to lose, but the ship itself keeps him entertained for long periods of time. It is his favorite toy this year, even ousting his trains. Now that is some feat!

  • Great Pirate Ship
    By AQPTKP8A6OEZO on 2008-01-20
Our 6 year old grandson was hoping to get this ship from Santa. When he did get it his eyes got big and he let out the sound of joy. He and his brothers are playing with it constantly. Lots of fun for all.

  • Shiver Me Timbers!
    By A1SXM2C6VAZN61 on 2008-02-03
Purchased as one of many Christmas gifts for our soon-to-be four year old son, this was the gift he kept returning to on Christmas day and often since then! No instructions make the parts and pieces a challenge for feeble-minded parents. The cannon piece that is stored under the deck was easily destroyed by my son, hoping I can get a replacement from Fisher-Price. Like the classic Fisher-Price toys that still continue to engage my son, this is a winner, well worth the price and far superior to the other action figures marketed to kids this age!
