  • Lucky so far

I bought this drive for $25 on sale. My only complaint is that it does not come with a lanyard. This has created a small problem, I have washed it twice. I tend to drop it into my pocket, since I have no lanyard to reattach it to. I get sloppy and only check my upper pockets for loose change and stuff and miss my lower cargo pockets on my shorts. You get a really lump in your stomach when you open up the dryer and you flash drive falls out. Through the wonders of epoxy embedded microchips, it has survived with all data intact.

  • Cruzer vs. NERO! Cruzer works great if....

    By AD57SVD057T89 on 2007-09-17
...you don't have NERO installed on your computer. I got my Cruzer and plugged it in to my daughter's laptop and was very impressed. I took it to work and plugged it in to a couple of computers there - impressed my co-workers. But then I plugged it in to my home computer and the computer froze up. Every time I plugged it in, my computer froze. I was getting ready to format my hard drive and re-install Windows (thinking darn Microsoft OS is corrupt again) when I came across a little FAQ on Sandisk's web site saying there was a known incompatiblity with NERO software. I have Nero installed - leading me to think this is the issue since the Cruzer works on all of the other computers I've tried it on. The FAQ said that an update would be released soon to patch this issue - that was a year ago and nothing yet. So, Cruzer will probably work great for you IF you don't have NERO installed.

  • Lack of a lanyard

    By A1KPB6ZNI4R1RN on 2007-07-28
Previously the SanDisk Cruser Flash Drives came with a lanyard with a quick disconnect that allowed you to disconnect it and use it or to keep the lanyard attached. This provided security and convenience and "a place to keep it." I feel that the decision to no longer provide the lanyard was a bad business decision. There apparently isn't even the option of purchasing the lanyard as an accessory.

I would have rated the Cruser a 5 but the decision to eliminate the lanyard is very short sighted.

  • Compact, But Big On Storage

    By A3W4D8XOGLWUN5 on 2007-07-16
Everybody wants to find different ways to store their computer files, without having the need to bring their laptops or computers on the go. But, they also might want a backup that you could also have in a convient way. Sandisk knows that feeling. They've still shown that after all the past several years, they still know how to make high quality tricks for making even the most of any file safe and secure. Their Sandisk 2 GB Micro Cruser is a sleek and convient way to bring your data with you on the go. You coul easily attach it to your keychain, through the little hoop attached to the flash drive. You can securely store your music and video files that you've downloaded from music services like Napster and Urge. It is easy to setup, and the siftware is preinstalled in the USB port, so there is no need to install any CD-ROM into the computer. However, you can't use this on Windows 98 or ME. This can only be used on Windows XP, Vista or MAC OS X. I like this flash drive a lot, and I absolutely recommend this for anyone who needs a new place to store their program files. Sandisk is a name brand that really delivers in its promises.

  • It works fine until it dies.

    By A2UR45BKJ8SQ5A on 2008-01-24
As a college student, I needed a way to carry my files from one computer to another. The computers provided at my campus only let one store so much information before forcing one do delete already-saved files to make room for more. Needless to say, I bought a flash drive.

At first, the U3 sandisk cruzer micro 2G flash drive was perfect. I put it into one of the USB ports on my dorm room computer, and a new software I had never seen popped up. It allowed me to create a password, store files, and eject it without any problems. Sometimes before ejecting though, a small box would pop up saying that I couldn't eject it because there were programs still running by it, with no programs running at all on my computer. It didn't bother me much, because I would just wait until the next morning and it would eject just fine.

However, two months after buying it, I needed to transport a program to my Engineering class. To my dismay the flash drive showed no signs of even existing upon plugging it into my computer. The little light would not turn on to show that it was working properly, and the removable disk file (usually F) was not even showing up in My Computer. Panicking, I turned to the company for help, but they only gave me a long detailed instruction sheet on how to get the program to run properly. I don't need the program to work, I need my flash drive to work! I visited several tech forums for help, every time finding out that there are several others with my same problem. Yes, I ejected the drive properly every time. Yes, I have tried four different computers, with no results. My roomate has the same exact drive and hers works perfectly in the same computers I tried mine.

I have no idea if it was just a defect on my drive personally. There is a warranty on this product, but why would I want the company to ship me another one when it could possibly end me in the same predicament as the first? Others may find no problems with their flash drive, but as for me I will replace it with one from another company.

  • Piece of Junk
    By A1KSNKAXQ6HEBW on 2007-12-25
Stay away from this thumb drive! My girlfriend made the mistake of buying it and everytime you plug it in, it tries to boot up its software. If there is a way of turning it off, its not easy. SanDisk should not force users to run some time-consuming software when they simply need to copy files to and from the drive.

Other than that, the drive runs fine and works smoothly on Mac and PC. Hey at least on the Mac it doesn't try to run its software.

  • 2GB SanDisk Micro Cruzer
    By A3F8CIH8CMKQKC on 2007-10-18
I've been very happy with this unit - it easily allows me to take files from one computer to the next, to the next ... without any extra steps. The retractable connection makes this a very compact unit, without any extra things falling off. I've found it durable, and reliable - a recommended buy.

  • mixed performance disappointment
    By A7QCUJOH9CIYR on 2007-09-10
I bought this since it was rated to improve PC performance as a Vista ready-boost drive and the price was right at $24. I did not notice much of a benefit mainly because of odd stoppages in applications being loaded (like Nero 7) which would load and run only AFTER the SanDisk was unplugged. SO this drive is just being used for data transfers.

  • Oops...
    By A1HUIXMUL734F6 on 2008-10-19
Oops, just found the flash drive in the bottom of the washing machine. Plugged it in and it still works! That's enough for me. I wouldn't recommend this as a method for cleaning your flash drive, but it's been kicking around in my backpack unprotected and it's taken that beating as well. I think it's a great product.

  • Annoying and Poorly Made
    By A3BWCW9WE1XK8C on 2008-04-08
I bought this 2 GB Cruzer Micro about a month ago, and thought for a while that it was a good compact thumb drive for a few hours. It was at that point that I began to realize the numerous annoying intrusions of the U3 software that comes pre-installed. As far as I can see, the software contains a number of vestigial programs such as games, Skype (available through their website), and others. Whereas a traditional thumb drive is recognized instantly by Windows, the U3 takes time to open up meaning that you have to suffer through an unnecessary pause every time you want to get at your files. Windows already automatically opens thumb drives, and the little icon in your tool tray that you use in order to stop the device is convenient enough. Why does Cruzer feel they need to make these things redundant? The worst part, though, was that while the zip drive was open and I stepped on it (not hard I swear!) it suddenly stopped working. It was only by wiggling the plug back and forth that I could get it to open. As someone who practically lives off my thumb drive, this was enough to drive me crazy. Do not put your valuable data at risk by buying this device!

    By A1DJGI8304Y5FI on 2008-09-08
This is the third Cruzer USB flash drive that I have purchased. Highlights include a light that tells you when it's active and a retractable connector (no more lost caps!). My only disappointment is that the package no longer includes a lanyard for carrying the drive around your neck.

  • Flash Drive

This flash drive is awesome I am very happy with performance and it is fast and easy to use I definitely recommend it

  • Does the job, but design doesn't quite deliver
    By AOQPEM44V2ONS on 2008-03-24
Good value for the price, it's small and light, and lightening quick. In theory, I like the idea of the retractable port (my last drive got bent/taken out of commission soon after I lost the cap). However, it's a pain trying to plug it in--it keeps trying to retract back into the case at the slightest pressure. This is kind of a problem when the usb port is at the back of a desktop computer and you can't really see what you're doing. I consider myself to have above average manual dexterity, but it still takes me a few tries to get it in. So knocking a few stars off for this.

  • Cruzer Delivers Consistently High Quality
    By A142ZF125YPEW2 on 2008-05-21
This is my 3rd Cruzer. Each and every one works flawlessly. The retractable USB is great and you don't have to worry about losing the cap.

    I highly recommend this product.

  • Great product...

  • Perfect little drive
    By A3M7BO59QJBN3N on 2008-05-31
This is my second Cruzer Micro. I have had the 4 GB version for about 6 months and loved it so much I bought this one for my wife. I have it attached mine to my key chain and carry it at all times. Since it is so light and small there is no draw back to carrying it everywhere.

There are only two small negatives to this product, but neither were big enough to keep me from buying a second drive. The plastic it is made out of feels a little weak, but it has made it has held up very well. The painted on print has almost completely worn off from rubbing up against keys.

All in all, this is a very good product and I highly recommend it.

  • Solid performer
    By A1UHWDG3IDWAYV on 2008-06-18
I have owed this flash drive for about 1 year and have had great luck with it. The read/write performance is solid, and the retractable USB connector is solid. I have carried this on my keychain since day 1 and it has stood up to the beating.

I am not a fan of the U3 software, but SanDisk provides a tool to remove all remnants.

I have purchased several of these drives for friends and families in sizes ranging from 2 GB to 8 GB and all have worked well.

  • SanDisk
    By A2BDGJJS021IL on 2008-06-20
This little flash drive works great. I bought 5 for our business. It has a program that comes with it called U3 which is a little confusing for people not computer savvy. The program helps organizing games and downloads. The picture doesn't show a loop the body has to attach a string or key chain. I attached a key chain to all of ours so they're easier to find due to their small size.

  • Lanyard Removed From This Product
    By AHKM9ZNXIGSJ2 on 2008-07-11
Beware folks, Sandisk has removed the lanyard from this 2GB USB flash drive and others. It's kind of like selling a wristwatch without a band. If you call Sandisk customer service they will send you a lanyard without charge, so they say.

  • Cruzer Kind of Sloppy
    By A2X530KEZMXMNG on 2008-07-16
I purchased this to replace a sony flash drive I lost. It works really well but I am nervous that the usb is kind of sloppy so I'm very careful when I plug it in and remove it from my computer. I like the sony better because it seems more sturdy although the cruzer works satisfactorily.
