• Pop-Up is a stand out

  when I saw this toy on TV, I said no way. Then I saw the toy on the web, and i still said no way. Now that I bought it for my son, I say "Way, Way". This toy packs a whole bunch of play in a small box, that cleans up as easily as it opens. Like my Pop-Up books of old, it provides surprises around every corner. My son plays with it for hours (he especially likes the Cannon and the Croc) and loves clean up time as well. Thanks Matchbox, we love it!

  Got this toy for my 3 year old son to entertain him during a flight. It is amazing. The small flat box opens up into a huge playset with loads of options for pretend play. My son loves it. I was skeptical that it would fold back into the box easily, but it did. I am now planning to give this gift for all the upcoming birthday and holiday presents for young boys. The toy definitely will be a "wow" gift. I recommend this toy without reservation.

  I bought this for my son's 3rd birthday last month and not a day has gone by that he hasn't played with it. It keeps him entertained for hours. He'll fold it up and bring it along to grandma's too! The fact that everything stores inside the box is great (we haven't lost the 2 pirates, cannon, balls, or croc yet!). We also purchased an extra set of pirate vehicles to play along with the set. He loves it! I highly recommend for anyone looking for a great gift!

  My son has several of the mattel pop-up playsets and we've always been happy with their quality. The Pirate Island is one of the largest of the pop-up sets. When you hold it out you get a cool little lagoon diorama that some with a pirate ship, car (pirates drove cars?) an alligator with a chomping mouth, a cannon that really fires, treasure chest and two pirates. One is ready for battle with his cutlass and the other is peering through his telescope. There are various roads and walkways and slides to move the characters and car along. The great thing about these is that they fold-up into a nice case (although you have to get all the contents just in the right place so it folds properly. Great fun!

  We got this for a present for our 3 year old neighbor. I was a little nervous about the durability of it - but was pleasantly surprised. I love how it is all contained and even the pieces that are separate have a place to be stored when its time to be picked up. They snap right into the walls - its great! definitely had a mother in mind when packaging this.

  I purchased this for my 6 year old grandson. He absolutly LOVES it!!! He has several of these "Pop-up sets" from Matchbox, and has gotten many hours of enjoyment from them. They fold up compactly and store very easily when he is not playing with them.

  This toy is so neat. It's like a pop-up book, but more sturdy, so kids can play on it. The best part was getting it out of the box, it was just slide out, open the case, and it's ready to play with! The only complaint is the pirates it comes with are tiny. The cannon, treasure chest, truck, and alligator are all fine, and good quality. My son likes to play on it with his cars, anyway, and my daughter even likes to play on it with her littlest pet shop animals! It's so interesting and cool, I highly recommend!

  My six year old son LOVES this and so do I!! Just open it up and its ready to go, no assembly, no batteries, just lots of imaginative playtime. The perfect toy for any child, even my daughter likes this. I love that it folds up nicely and takes up very little space, but when open provides room for several kids to play with it at the same time.

  We have other matchbox pop ups that my 5 year old loves, so I thought he might really go for this cool looking pirate adventure. I think overall it is just average, and I wouldn't buy it if I had to do it over again. It does pop up and assemble quite easily, and the pop down is not too complicated, though my son couldn't do it by himself. It's just not holding his interest at all. I do recommend you check out the hot wheels fold up tracks and the other matchbox pop ups for a better value for the money and fun.
  
  
• PERFECT TOY FOR TRAVEL OR HOME

  This toy is just perfect for my son (6 years old). His twin brother can play with it at the same time without crowding each other. There are spaces for every item (small pirates, alligator, canon, treasure chest) to secure on the playset so they don't fall off while playing. They also secure in their own areas when closing the unit up. Because it's so portable, it's the perfect toy to take to Grandmas or a friend's house. My son hasn't lost any of the pieces yet and it's been in our house for 3 months, and opened up dozens of times. Even though this toy is plastic, it is very durable. This is definitely worth the money.

  My 3 1/2 year old son received this as a gift for Christmas. He LOVES it! Mom loves it because of the storage. If you are like most families, you have toys coming out your ears and this one is nice because it folds right up. The case doesn't take up much room when it's put away either. The little pieces that come with it fit inside the case. My son loves the tunnel and the shark. It is also perfect to take along when visiting friends or family. Out of many toys my son received for Christmas, this is a favorite one for both of us.
  
  
• Okay for todays toys

  I purchased this product for my almost 4 year old son because of the wonderful reviews I read but I do not see it the same as they described. The item fall apart easily, there are little pieces that are attached to the island that come apart easily and then are lost in the rubble of lost toys. Also, my son needs help to fold it up and pack it away, you need to make sure all the nooks and crannies are tucked in well so that the pirate island closes properly.

  I bought this for my 3-year-old nephew and he loved it. When I saw it here on Amazon I thought this could be really cool or it could be really cheap and flimsy. I decided to get it based on the reputation of mattel, and I have to say it was really cool! My brother and sister-in-law loved that it cleaned up so easily and that it took up little space when closed. It is one of my nephew's favorite toys.
  
  
• Favorite Christmas Present of 2007

  Hands down, this is my 5 year old son's FAVORITE Christmas present! He plays with it daily and for a LONG period of time. No other toy has come close to capturing his attention for an extended period of time. He's pretty rough and it's managed to hold up thus far. Of course, some of the smaller pieces (the captain? & a cannon ball) are missing (I wish that I could buy extra pieces separately), but other than than he is doing a pretty good job of keeping up with everything & collapsing the item himself. We haven't traveled with it yet, but I'm positive that it'll be most appreciated on visits. We'll have to add another set for his birthday.

  I haven't even bought this yet, but my almost 5 year old son saw the commercial on tv and wanted it. He just got his 30th sticker to complete his sticker chart (each sticker worth $1 in toy value) for this toy. I started with 1 $15 take along a while ago (Harbor, on sale), figuring it would be a great travel or on the go toy. I was beyond amazed at the value of this. It opens up, has tons of ramps, little pieces, room for cars, landings for airplanes and helicopters, HOURS of play. And ESPECIALLY when I am somewhere else I want my little one to be occupied with something fun that isn't too bulky or heavy to travel with.
  
  Since then we've added two more to the collection. Now he can set them up together and ramp them to each other to make giant play areas which all come apart and fold up and get put away quite easily. A fantastic toy for a playdate or a get together at a grown up party/event where the kids need some fun toys to occupy themselves. I put a bunch of cars, planes and helicopters in a zippered or zip lock bag and EVERYBODY is happy!!!! Can't wait to get this addition to our collection!
