A great complement to Vista Aero By A1DSPWLYFSQIZR on 2007-08-04
First let me say that I am hardly an expert in PC displays and have a great deal more experience with LCD HDTVs. This is my first TFT display, and I am absolutely floored at how much more enjoyable the visual experience of Windows Vista Aero is.
I am running the display in 1440 x 900 and it looks bright, sharp and the colors are perfect. The display comes with a fairly advanced configuration tool, HP My Display, for those who really want to tweak settings for maximum accuracy in colors, brightness and sharpness. I have not had to use this yet, as the default settings seem too good for me to do any better.
If you have been using a regular LCD display or a CRT monitor, buying a solid TFT display like this is well worth the money. It's like wiping away that cloudy film that builds up on a car windshield.
The speakers are convenient, but low-quality. This did not prevent me from giving the unit a 5 because that's what I expect from built-in speakers. They are not visible, located on the bottom of the monitor. Quality-wise they are probably on par with fairly good built-in notebook speakers (primary issue being no bass).
Better Than Expected By A35BCVM2FRYH96 on 2007-07-09
I've had my HP W1907 a little over a week now and can't get enough of it.
The only reason I didn't give it a five is because it sits so low (or does it just "seem" to sit low because I'm not used to a widescreen?). Unfortunately, I have to put my monitor and keyboard on a tabletop rather than an actual PC station. Because the monitor is on the same plane as the keyboard, I had to use a phonebook to elevate the monitor up. I also had to elevate it up in order to view the monitor at a proper sightline.
There has been other comments made that the default resolution is too high, but I'm enjoying the brightness it brings to everything. One poster said optimum performance is at an 80 brightness and a 65 contrast. I may try it one day, but for now I'm enjoying the bright experience. I haven't had any trouble with glare on the glossy screen (and I was worried about that), so that's a good thing. I have also been aware of the room darkness when on the monitor. It would not be a good monitor for those who like insanely bright lights. I prefer a darker room anyway.
All-in-all an awesome monitor. I toyed with the idea of getting the 20" or 22" screen, but the 19" is more than satisfactory for my small living conditions. A very good piece of equipment for the money...
A few issues By AJ3H8C9Q9JAE2 on 2007-09-01
Once I connected the W1907 I could see that all of my photos were distorted no matter what resolution I selected. After much tinkering, I think the problem was with the VIA/S3G Unichrome IGP integrated graphic card I had for some reason. I never saw that there might be graphics card incompatabilities though. So I installed a Radeon 9700 Pro graphics adapter, updated all of it's drivers as well as updating the HP w1907 19 inch LCD Monitor drivers from the HP site. I restarted my HP A620N computer. I then opened up some digital photos and it DOES seem that the stretching and distortion problem has been resolved! My only complaint now is that at the factory-set native resolution of 1440 x 900, the text on my desktop, email, etc looks very thin and thready. I ended up using 1360x768 to solve that. I must admit that the brightmess, contrast, colors and overall visuals of this monitor are impressive. I just wish my 'out of box' experience had been better.
A Very Good Monitor By A21M04JR8OLFD3 on 2007-11-09
I bought this monitor a couple of months ago to go along with a new HP system I had just purchased. I'm running Windows XP Professional and have had no problems installing and using this monitor.
Here are a few points to consider:
-The display is quite bright. I had to adjust it down to a setting of 10.
-Text and images are very sharp. This appears to reduce or eliminate the eye fatigue that I have experienced while working on non-TFT LCD monitors for long periods of time.
-The built-in speakers are thin and tinny-sounding. Don't expect too much from them.
-The monitor is mounted low on the stand and there is no height adjustment. I've had to set it on top of several books in order to achieve a comfortable height.
This monitor is also useful for editing and displaying digital photos. It is so sharp that it can reveal some flaws (i.e. noise from low light situations) in photos that just aren't visible on older LCDs.
Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase of this monitor. If you are looking to upgrade your display, the HP w1907 is definitely worth consideration.
My first disappointment with Amazon... By A1AWMWEK4DQTZI on 2007-11-03
I've bought lots of products from Amazon and have always been very pleased ... until now. I just opened my new PC and monitor and have all of the parts from both boxes strewn across my desk. I have a lot of work to do and wanted to get up and running as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, it looks like I'll be waiting a week.
Although everything looked to be in order when I opened the monitor's box (which appeared to be factory sealed), I thought it odd that the VGA cable was already plugged in to the monitor, even though the cable was still sheathed in plastic. Undeterred, I pressed on. There was no DVI cable in the box. I wasn't happy, but figured I'd get things running in VGA mode and switch over to DVI later. That wasn't happening. There was no power cable in the box either. At best, I believe I was sent a previously opened, possibly used, monitor, certainly not what I had expected.
I called HP and spoke to a succession of pleasant but hard-to-understand people in another part of the world and am expecting two separate shipments with the missing cables sometime around the end of next week.
So, I can't really review this product yet, though I can certainly report on a less than satisfying buying experience here at Amazon. Now I'm looking at my new CPU and worrying... the protective plastic on the case has been peeled back and partially removed...and not by me. Uh oh.
- Nothing Like It!
     By A2WELXSZMF2U2K on 2007-08-12
This monitor and the bigger versions are the best on the market. Nothing even comes close to the clarity, brightness, and beauty of these monitors. HP (or whoever their vendor is) has the best looking monitor in my opinion. I love this monitor and am very happy with my purchase!
- Awesome quality!
     By A2PK7LLEDS1K8A on 2007-12-14
This was my first venture into the world of Flat panel LCD monitors, and it does not disappoint! The picture is crystal clear. The colors, vivid and alive. Even when this thing is off, its pleasing to look at!
I am currently running this monitor as my primary for my newer Macbook and so far could not be happier. You must use the correct resolution (which for me is at 1440 x 900) and may have to tinker with the brightness/contrast settings a little bit, however, the factory defaults aren't bad at all.
I was originally interested in a 22" display, but I am really happy I went with the 19" and was very surprised at how big it actually was when I got it on my desk. Anything bigger would be a little overwhelming in my opinion. It may look small at large stores such as Best Buy or in the pictures online, but I guarantee when you get it set up in your home you will be blown away at how big it seems.
I recommend this monitor highly to anyone in the market for their first flat panel monitor. HP makes really quality products and its worth paying a little more for quality instead of buying lower end monitors, trust me.

     By A16Z09RSUI1I8H on 2007-12-29
I upgraded from a 15" display and really like the 19" widescreen. My old monitor also had integrated speakers and I wanted a larger monitor with speakers and was suprised how small a selection there was especially at stores. Box included both VGA and DVI cables which was a plus since my new computer only accepted DVI input. I found the display very bright out of the box and needed some adjustment. Sound quality from speakers is very low. If you are looking for a nice size monitor under 20" and with integrated speakers, I'd recommend this model.
- works very well / does what it should / 2notes*
     By A1GAT2WS6EE7L5 on 2008-01-07
the monitor came quickly from amazon and was well packaged. it was easy to install (one note...im a pretty strong guy but the base took some force to open up...i was afraid to break it! but its very sturdy and the fear was unwarranted) once clipped onto the monitor the base is swung outwards and thats about it for the install. software works well with no issues. (note 2...the software comes with some kind of registry eraser to remove the old monitor software...skip this process...its unnecessary and invites problems when messing with any system registry.)the viewing angle doesnt seem as good as in the store where i first viewed it...it quickly loses color from the sides and top, but is crystal clear an bright straight on..or minor angles. The best ive found in the stores, i highly recommend it! i cannot imagine any reason to buy anything more than the 19 inch! 1440 x 900 native resolution is very nice.
- HP 1907 Widescreen Monitor
     By AJWKBDUI2AFZT on 2008-01-10
Setup was easy except for the base. The instructions showed where it hooked on and said how to put it on. This reminds me of a recipe for rabbit that begins, "First, catch a rabbit." I was worried about breaking a part so I didn't want to really force it. It took quite a bit of force to get things together and some experimentation to figure out a technique. I'll probably leave the base on whenever I move.
Otherwise, setup was a piece of cake. Hook up the cables and run the computer. My power supply has an outlet for the monitor and the 1907 goes on and off with the computer.
Picture quality seems great! I have an ATI Radeon X1600 PCI-X graphics card running under Vista 64 Home Premium. I had to use the install CD from the monitor before I could set the resolution to the native 1440x900 pixels. There is a bit of stretching of icons and graphics in programs not designed for the widescreen. I almost didn't notice this.
The only problem I've had is (was) an occasional blink of the screen. The screen goes black for a second or two then is back to normal. The program is unaffected. This would happen once in a few hours of time on the computer. It was more common under Win 2k but has happened once or twice with Vista. I'm connected with a DVI cable.
This works great for me and it's so much easier to move than my 88 pound CRT!
- Dead on arrival
     By A1WNUJ5MLSOXOL on 2008-04-02
The screen goes dark after one second of displaying the screen content. If I cycle power, then the screen turns on for one second, then goes dark. This is a piece of junk. The back light is going kaput on the first day of operation!

Well packaged and delivered on time . PNP unit , connected , adjusted resolution and hit auto set , works like a charm . Does need a speaker upgrade and just throw out the install c.d. It causes error codes which nobody can figure out what they are. Comes with all necessary cables. Looks good and works good.
- Good service

- Better than I expected

I saw other models in local stores but this caught my eye. I took into consideration reviews from other customers who sounded like they knew what they were talking about. Everyone has different preferences so some tweaking is necessary. The video colors are vivid and I have received compliments on it's stylish design. The delivery time was even faster than they promised. All in all a very worthwhile purchase.

I am very pleased with this monitor. After receiving it I first thought I should have gone bigger, but for my situation with duel monitors it is perfect. If you use it as a single monitor you might want to go to the next size up. Otherwise the product is awesome, picture crisp, and installation easy.
- Great screen
     By A1LKT0MA5P15TV on 2008-01-25
This is a real nice monitor. It is big enough to see everything is big size. It had good enough instructions that I hooked it up by myself.
- GREAT PICTURE POOR SPEAKERS
     By AC3O8X3T67LSV on 2008-03-22
Great Picture, but the "speakers" were not strong - even at the highest level. However, the quality was great.
- My new slim, sleek, sexy widescreen monitor.

Love it, Love it, LOVE IT!!!
Talk about easy. I just plugged it into my pc and away it went.
I didn't have to adjust anything. The color was perfect.
The sound is kind of tiny but for this size and price range? I can live with it.
Amazing product, amazing price range.
I've read some negative reviews and I suggest you do some research before you plunk down your money on this or anything electronic.
I have a seven year old HP pc (lol, a dinosaur by todays standards).
But this monitor worked like a charm.
LOVE the widescreen.
Highly recommended!!!

Just the right size for me, i ain't looking for no tv. Very clear. Built in speakers good but may need upgrading, but at least is has some. If you buy for $200, it's a great buy. Perfect monitor visual-wise.
- Good monitor for a good price
     By AGEFJHWAUKBZD on 2008-01-25
My old 17" LCD monitor kicked the bucket recently so I had to replace it with a new one on the spur of the moment. Intially, this wasn't my first choice but a Samsung model which was out of stock. Having had problems with HP computers in the past, I was wary of how this monitor would perform.
I gave in though and don't regret it at all now. It's a much brighter and nicer screen than the old CTX I had and despite some reflective light glare (unlike many LCD's, this is a glossy as opposed to matte finish) I haven't had any problems with it. The brightness of the screen and the DVI connection took a few days to adjust to but now older monitors just look dull and faded by comparsion to me. The picture quality is great and I have more visible space to work with.

Really like the product, however the internal speaker is very tinny. I attached external speakers and with the help of HP support obtained much better quality.
- Amazing product!

I love this monitor. Picture is great. Set up is easy. Very stable on a any table. Overall very recommended. I used it everyday and its absolutely great for those who like a lot of screen and who work on things like photoshop and other editing software. :)
- Awesome display

This monitor is one of the main reasons I decided to get a new PC system. I checked around and love this monitor, and all the PC features. Got it with the HP Pavilion S3420F Slimline. Very, very pleased, with the package and Amazon!
- Great Monitor
     By A1MM0NJDQ02GAV on 2008-06-26
This monitor is just great, when I was looking arround for a good 19 inch monitor this was my top choice because of the great performance vs price. When I got it out of the box I was very pleased to see that all the parts were intact and nicely wrapped. Instructions to set up the stand and monitor were very clear and easy to follow. When I plugged it, it basically did an auto adjusment and it looked great from the get-go bright colors and the text looked very rich and clear. I honestly dont see a downside to this monitor and would recommend it to anyone! So if you are looking to get performance for a reasonable price, buy this monitor.
- Awesome!
     By A20Y7XBHDQM1V3 on 2008-10-01
Ever wondered why brands like HP cost more than others? Because they are by far much better. The detail and sharpness are phenomenal as are the richness of the colors. I edit video all day long and am able to touch up every frame with total precision and accuracy if I need to. The shiny black color and design of this monitor are so beautiful, they totally enhance the look and feel of your office and desk space.
I'm really happy I did'nt go cheap and buy another brand, I've seen them in stores and there is no comparison!
- Outstanding value! AND it is HP!
     By A2IR740MDQD47A on 2008-10-11
I just ordered this monitor and it arrived in a day and a half! WOW! Lol, good service!
Easy to set up. Excellent, crispy picture. The ONLY downside is not being able to adjust the highth as it is a hinge connection on the back with a base plate to attach, it can still swivel its face up and down, just not lift up any. No big deal as my computer armoire sits high anyway.
For the money it is the best deal I have seen in a long time, especially being an HP product
- Great Deal
     By A20KZ9UPBTZGOX on 2008-03-09
Monitor shows very clear. No complaints thus far.I would recommend this monitor to anyone who is looking for great value at a reasonable price.
- Best Cost to Preformance Ratio in a 19inch Widescreen
     By AP8ZY1UNYQP1P on 2008-04-19
I experimented with a 24 inch. I have floaters in my vision and that was so bright I thought I was looking at the sky and the floaters annoyed me (and reminded me I was getting older);). Then I tried various 20-19 inch monitors. This was the best for the buck. The colors are almost exactly perfect and the controls are well thought out. Very nice and makes viewing a pleasure. DVD performance is outstanding. Get it.
- picture perfect!!
