  • Excellent!

    By A27A0Z7X4Q8MFA on 2007-11-22
This kit contains a velcro wrist strap with a sturdy plastic mounting clip. The original strap pieces are permanently removed using the supplied tool, then the strap pins are replaced into the 305 body. The pins can then clip into the mount on the velcro strap, or the identical part of the bike mount. Removing the unit from the bike and putting it on your wrist, or vice-versa, takes less than 5 seconds.

The reviewer who said you have to take several minutes to re-attach the original wrist straps after taking the 305 off your bike seems to have failed to grasp the concept; the velcro strap *permanently* replaces the original straps.

The only potential downside I can think of is that the clip on the velcro wrist strap could hang up on long sleeved clothing, like a wetsuit, so triathletes will want to put the strap on during T1. Other than that, this is a very handy piece of kit!

  • Quick release kit a hit!

    By A1OJPXDPC5L43Y on 2007-09-30
Bought the kit to mount the Forerunner 305 on my handlebars. It was simple and puts the buttons where they need to be. It is much more convenient and safe to look at the bars instead of turning my wrist and head to see it on my arm. More importantly, it keeps the sweat off of the contacts on the rear of the unit and that has to help.

  • Best Garmin accessory

    By ARH2E3I4JBYAA on 2007-10-10
I have used the Garmin for a little over a year and always had to rig it when on the bike. The quick release mount makes it wasy to use on a run, unclip it from the wrist and clip it on the racing bike and off you go! The velcro band is more comfortable then the original band. I even got a second bike mount for my second bike for commuting.

  • Very useful accessory

    By A11Q2QPJHXPYJ8 on 2007-12-22
I am very pleased with this accessory for my Garmin 305. I find that this cloth and velcro wristband is more comfortable and adjustable than the plastic one that comes with the 305. You do have to get used to the release mechanism, but once you do it is easy and quick. It's great to be able to use the 305 as a wireless bike computer.

  • Very useful kit; somewhat worried that it will break soon

    By A2228W04MFS926 on 2007-10-24
    Nice product, easy to install.
The armband from your original 205/305 is removed, and replaced with a hard plastic cradle attached to a velcro armband. Your Garmin can be detached from this armband, and inserted into a similar device attached to your bike handlebars. (Can also be used to attach the Garmin to, e.g., a rowing shell.)
Since the plastic cradle must flex in order to insert or remove te Garmin, I am a bit worried that it will break soon. No problems in one month of use, though.

  • Buy it just to get rid of the cheesey plastic strap that came on your Forerunner
    By A3OAVRTJ7UDRCP on 2008-02-17
If I had known how much better I'd like the flexible velcro strap than the cheesey plastic strap that comes on the Forerunner, I'd have bought this product long before I ever decided to try the Forerunner on my bike. The plastic strap that comes with the Forerunner was always a little too loose or a little too tight, and when you sweat on it it gets slimey and slides around all over the place. But this velcro strap is infinitely adjustable and sits nicely against the skin without chaffing or sliding. I just used it for a marathon and it "disappeared" in use and became invisible to me, just as you want your equipment to do in that situation.

  • Great Idea, Too Complicated
    By A3CE4HS7DKMDNA on 2007-11-02
The concept is that you take the watch off and slap it on your bike. However, getting it on the bike is too time-consuming to be useful to me. You have to remove both straps with a tool to be able to attach it to the clip on your handlebars. When you're ready to run again, you have to reattach the watch straps again. It took me about a minute to do this each time. I had assumed I could just attach the watch without removing the straps.

  • Not secure enough!!
    By A1GFERTD20Q91S on 2008-01-21
I bought this kit after reading positive reviews about it, and in fact was happilly using it for 6 months. That is until my Garmin FELL OFF the wristrap during a city run. I didn't notice it until a while later, so have clearly lost the unit. Good idea, but in my experience the mount is not secure enough to use with a $200+ piece of equipment!!! An expensive mistake.

  • Excellent Product
    By A2ZLJW1B6D5FZ9 on 2008-04-09
This is an excellent product. The bike mount has worked great and I use the Velco wrist strap all of the time. I have no need for the strap that came with the watch. My forerunner 305 fits very snuggly into both the bike mount and wrist strap. It does take some effort to snap out, but this should become easier with more use. I have not had a chance to use during a triathlon yet, but I have no doubt it will lead to a quick transition from bike to run. It is unfortunate Garmin did not design the 405 coming out soon with these same capabilities.

  • Great Product, Great Price
    By AFJYVYYWSHXV9 on 2008-01-25
I am able to take my training with me now. For a triathlete, this is an invaluable tool.

  • Nice surprise
    By A1CP1DXMEQI3ZY on 2008-01-22
I was surprised by this kit and it's functionality for someone training for tri or duathlons. The pictures don't give it enough credit for how well it works. 3 stars based on the wristband could be a little more comfortable.

  • flexibiliti
    By A177Q3ALD6Q14I on 2008-02-17
You can put it on your bicycle, release it and take it on your wrist at once - realy fast and easy.

  • good system to attach the forerunner on the bike
    By A919NRCMU8CCE on 2008-02-20
I like the system for the watche but the new system to run isn't as confortable as the original one.

  • Not bad once you get used to it
    By A2YYN5OK6PA7JC on 2008-03-04
It sits up a bit high but once you get the snap-in/snap-out system figured out it holds together well. I've now run with it a couple of times and it is secure. I am looking forward to doing a Tri in it to see how the switch off between the bike and run works (I also bought the bike mount.

  • Great for tri-athletes
    By ADOCE6TJERA9O on 2008-03-29
Great product and easy to switch your Garmin from a run to your bike in a matter of seconds.

  • Works Well
    By A33KILZF21OHJA on 2008-04-01
If running is your focus and cycling is a hobby/cross training avenue then the quick release kit for the Forerunner is the way to go vice buying the Garmin Edge 205/305. The wrist strap is velcro and as a result very adjustable but it will need to be washed/rinsed occasionally if you sweat. The watch cradle for the bike is mounted with zip ties and very easy with needle nose plyers and scissors the only tools needed.

  • Perfect to turn your Garmin Forerunner 305 into a bike computer
    By A1SGPKCK9QNA77 on 2008-04-20
This was an excellent purchase, glad I made it, though I was a little hesitant at first. Lets you attach your Garmin Forerunner 305 to your bike securely, and provides a new wrist band (velcro) for when you run/hike. I purchased this and the cadence sensor, and now I use this for my bike computer as well as running. Top notch combo to increase your training effectiveness. Good luck!

  • Garmin 205/305 quick release kit
    By A1TWF7P5VYWIJE on 2008-04-29
This product is a great add on to my Garmin 305. I like the ability to have my Garmin where I can see it, without it sliding all over my wrist. The band is comfortable and easy to switch out.

  • A great Garmin accessory for cross-trainers / triathletes
    By A6HFK03CWWGXS on 2008-05-05
This accessory does what it's supposed to, that is, allow you to quickly remove your Garmin Forerunner from your bike / wrist and put it on the other (Note I've only used it for the Garmin 305). The included wrist strap is comfortable, and I've had no problems running with it. I was a little worried at first that the Garmin could become dislodged from the plastic housing, but it's a very firm fit. The mount for the bike is a little flimsy and is only held on with zip ties. There's nothing from preventing it from rotating on the handlebar mount, so if you hit a bump you have to adjust it occasionally. This has been my only real complaint, and is the only thing keeping this product from getting 5 stars.

  • works great
    By A2NXC8OVFYD5E on 2008-05-14
This thing works exactly how you'd think it should work. There's a bracket that attaches to your handlebars and a new wriststra with the same bracket. The Forerunner snaps in and out of each bracket in about 1 second and both seem quite secure.

The only downside is that you go from a nice rubber wriststrap to a cheaper nylon one, but that's a small price in my book, especially if you spend more time on the bike than off.

  • Forerunner quick release kit
    By ABOYADVXG22ZP on 2008-05-14
If you are going to use the Forerunner on your bike this is a must have. Easy to install, appears to have a firm grasp on the GPS unit (nothing holds all the time) and inconspicuous, this small adapter takes all the guess work out of using your Forerunner on a bike. Must have.

  • Great accessory for the Garmin.
    By A2OKQTKZ6K6CBL on 2008-05-31
This is a great product, I have a small wrist and I have found this band to be much more comfortable than the big plastic one; but what I really like is the bike mount. Now I do not have to wear it on my wrist at all while riding, and all the info is right in front of me.

It was extremely easy to put on, they give you all the tools you need with it.

I have not used the setup while doing a triathlon yet, not sure if I will use the bike mount or just leave it on my wrist the entire time, either way it will be faster than trying to put the plastic band on.

  • Nice product
    By A1ST65434WK6ML on 2008-05-31
This product puts your Garmin 305/205 right in front of you on your bike. The quick release mount works great and you can take it from your bike to wrist in seconds. The only reason I can't give this 5 stars is it does not fit on my Vision base bar for my tri bike. Works awesome for my road bike though.

  • Works as advertised
    By A3LT84TY32FIBF on 2008-06-09
Worked as expected straight out of the box. It syncs up with my mac just fine, too.

  • love it
    By ASW8S4D0GUCOI on 2008-06-16
This item is great. It is really easy to use and it is so much easier to read my Garmin while it is mounted on my bike rather than on my arm (and eliminates funky tan lines). I actually like the velcro strap better than the original strap that came with my Garmnin.

  • Great Accesory to Forerunner 305
    By A18JHWXKKJD5JZ on 2008-07-09
This definitely makes wearing and changing over the Forerunner 305 so much nicer and easier. Personally I hate putting on plastic watch bands on for numerous reasons but one of them is that my skin starts breaking out when I start sweating...which obviously occurs every time I would wear this. Very easy to use...everyone should get this!

  • Simple but it works
    By A1L6EB82B1WPGN on 2008-07-12
I bought 2. One for my road bike and one for my mt. bike. They are easy to install and you can set the angle on the handle bars for viewing to fit your needs. I am very happy with the mount.

  • Q-R wrist strap OK but hard on 305 attachment points
    By AHZ7ZAO32AFJ3 on 2008-08-25
Quick Release kit is OK but if you're back and forth between a bike and your wrist a lot I fear the plastic on the Forerunner may wear prematurely due to high torque loads when removing the unit from the plastic cradle.

  • An essential accessory
    By A23SU18T9R14N4 on 2008-09-05
For anyone who both runs and bikes, this kit is essential to make the most of the Garmin 305. Add the cadence kit and you have a terrific bike and run electronic trainer for very reasonable money. Kit assembles in a few minutes and seems well-engineered to hold up to many swaps from wrist to handlebar (which is a MUCH better place for viewing while on the bike. I can't imagine any complaints arising unless the user fails to apprehend how to use it!

  • Write band & bike mount work well
    By A37AX7NLPNBWZ6 on 2008-09-07
I prefer the wrist band in the quick release kit over the wrist band that came with the FR 305--given the bulkiness of the 305, the wrist band that comes with it is a bit awkward. Its a good design that held the FR 305 in place for a number of rides & runs.
