  • A must-have for XBox 360 Gamers

    By A3V6Z4RCDGRC44 on 2005-11-26
If you've got an XBox 360, you really need to get your hand on one or two wireless controllers. These controllers are GREAT for keeping your gaming area free of clutter. To start with, the controller is much smaller than the standard XBox controller was.

For control items, you start with the standard blue X, yellow Y, red B and green A buttons. There are two thumbsticks, one on the upper left and one in the center right. There is also a directional (d-pad) in the lower left.

Next, you have a pair of shoulder buttons at the "top" of the unit, up above the other buttons. You also have a pair of triggers below those shoulder buttons.

Finally, you have a center X button that can be used to turn the console on and off, plus a "start" and "back" tiny white buttons on either side of it.

The unit has a rechargeable battery unit inside it, the size of two AA batteries. You have to buy a recharger set SEPARATELY that lets you charge up while you play. In essence you plug the charger into the back of the controller - and the other end into the USB port in the front of the XBox 360 unit. So you play with the controller "wired" as it charges up. When it's fully charged again, you just pop off the wire and keep playing.

The range of the wireless unit is 30', which is probably much further than anybody is really going to even try playing a game at. The wireless is much easier on your hand - no cable holding you down - plus it's a great help in keeping your gaming area organized. You can easily pass the controller from person to person, and visitors can come and go without tripping over wires.

The documentation says you can get 40 hours of gameplay between charges, but if you have features such as vibration on, that sucks the time down to maybe 8-10 hours. It's up to you of course - I personally like having vibration on because it is often important for gameplay to get those warning signals.

Still, even if I have to plug the cables in every 10 hours or so to give it a juice boost, I still love wireless!! Highly recommended.

  • A slight improvement.

    By A2O2I1M1492T7P on 2007-04-30
Ok, so this is basically just the white controller painted black. To be honest, the white controllers don't look too bad, its the white console that looks terrible. But that is my opinion. On to the facts. The black controller is almost exactly the same, but part of the grip is more "matte" than the white one. The white controller always makes me sweat for some reason because it is too smooth. These look great however. The colors are well matched even though it may not look like it in the pictures. I'd definitely recommend picking these up if you have an elite, or if you have core/premium and you want the black ones so the grime doesn't show as much, I'd highly recommend these.

  • Great to give to friends

Whenever anyone comes over to play, this is perfect. Give him the pink controller, and don't let him forget who's in charge.

  • flawless, black

Based on the old Xbox S-controller with added bumpers. This controller can turn on/off the 360 remotely, act as a remote, works on a PC, connects to a headset, etc... It rumbles -- the $600 PS3 doesn't. It connects FLAWLESSLY. Never fails to connect and the connection never drops, ever, even though it's wireless. Battery life is extremely LONG - you'll be able to use the thing forever without recharging. Attachements exist for charge & play, Accessories for quick charge. Options for regular or rechargable batteries.

3rd party wireless controllers for the original xbox SUCKED! The connection dropped, they would malfunction. Everything about this 360 controller is right!

  • Excellent Controller

I love this controller. The wireless system works great, and you never have to worry about unplugging the controller again! This is a huge improvement to me over the old controllers. I highly reccomend this product.

  • a must have! you need this one!
    By A4G51W9PC7TJL on 2006-04-19
if you have a xbox 360 system you owe it to yourself to pick up a wireless controller..they are very comfortable to hold and have all the functions of the regular controller..and whats very cool about this one is if you get the plug and play charge kit..you can actually play while you charge the battery or just have the controller hooked up after the system is shut off and it trickle charges for optimum performance...this is worth the money..if you have the wired controller trade up ..and go for the best.

  • overpriced. no color coordinated NiMH battery

2 criticisms: 1) It's overpriced; frankly it's almost double the price it should be (if the spartan figurine is supposedly a bonus, then we shouldn't be paying $20 more for the controller). 2) for the money, they should throw in a color-coordinated black NiMH battery, which they don't. If you have white NiMH batteries, they of course won't match the black back of the controller.

  • "Different"
    By A31H0N1UPQP62A on 2007-08-13
Say you have a bunch of friends, and you all have 360's, and you decide to have a lan party. Everyone knows after a long time most people tend to not remember which controller is theirs. ( Especially when everyones drinking, or smoking.) This kind of helps the owner of it alleviate that problem... unless you want to have your name in magic marker on your controller. Being the only black controller at our LAN parties makes it easily distinguishable for me and I dont leave with someone elses controller, cuz who knows what other people touch before they play xbox.

  • I'm a male and use this at work
    By A21UFPWAEGHAUG on 2007-12-20
I'm lucky enough to work at a software company where playing video games during lunch and evenings is widely accepted.

You must be wondering why a heterosexual male software engineer would purchase a "pink" controller for use in a group environment with other heterosexual males.

    Reasons:

    1) no one else will dare use this controller
    2) when I clobber an opponent, it's even more humiliating to them that a pink controller was used
    3) I like the shock value
    4) chicks dig it (not that many are around, but I'm being proactive)

  • A superb controller
    By A22AD8M2SSOFHJ on 2007-02-19
I really feel Microsoft has done a great job with this pad. After the original XBox controller that felt like it was made backwards this one feels great. The buttons are placed right and it fits well in your hands. Generally I would say it's a toss up between the PS3 and 360 control. They both do the job right. The trigger buttons feel placed well and even the analog sticks are in a good place. This paddle also gets excellent range without loosing it's signal. My only qualm is personal. My experience after playing long hours is that right hand gets a little tight from gripping the control pad. I am sure most people feel just fine gripping this pad. Make sure you get a rechargable batterey pack so you don't spend a fortune on batteries. This pad is obviously a must have for anyone with a 360.

  • Great Controller. Whats with the price?
    By AJURWHGY4Y4TC on 2007-05-15
This controller has all the great(exact same) features of its white counter part, but with a new sleek black color. I rated it 3 stars because you can get the exact controller in white for 39.99 but they had to bump this up to 49.99. why? who knows but its pretty stupid. other than the price its a great controller and if you feel like saving 10 bucks go with the white wireless.

  • Only for the Hardcore
    By A1ZR8RRX3PN0SO on 2007-09-17
This device works the same as all previous Xbox 360 controllers only with more attractive graphics on the front. Only die hard Halo fans need apply. What do you get for an extra $10? just the pretty looks and a little plastic army man (Okay, it is Spartan 117). I was disappointed that it did not come with the rechargeable battery for the extra money which is the reason for the lower review however, it is still a rock solid product and is recommended for the fanboy in us all.

  • It's an xbox controller... and it's black. Whoopie!
    By A1KXJCXS6HFRQZ on 2007-10-07
What can I say? It's just like the white controllers, only black. I like it to distinguish between the others. It makes me feel cool when I'm holding it... blah blah blah.

  • Got Pink? 360 controller
    By A15LH0ZNB79DLT on 2008-04-20
If you've got an Xbox 360, you need controllers. This pink one is perfect if you are comfortable in your masculinity, or if your favorite color is pink. If you want to make this controller a bit more manly, take a black marker and draw a skull or two on it.

The layout of the buttons on the Xbox 360 is amazing. It's perfect for many of the games that are on the 360. The rumble is effective, and the wireless capacity is wonderful.

The only beef I have, is that I've had two controllers that become loose on the left analog stick, and they began to drag the cursor when not touched. The Xbox Warranty I had from the console replaced them free of charge. Luckily I had extra controllers to get me by in the week it took to replace it.

When matched with the rechargable battery pack, they give you lots of gaming time between charges.

  • I got the blue(s) controller!
    By A15LH0ZNB79DLT on 2008-04-20
If you've got an Xbox 360, you need controllers. This blue one is a nice shade of blue, and goes well with either the pro white console scheme, or the elite black one. It makes an excellent gift.

  • Got 360 Black controller?
    By A15LH0ZNB79DLT on 2008-04-20

    By A15LH0ZNB79DLT on 2008-04-20
If you've got an Xbox 360, you need controllers. This covenant model if pefect for Halo fans of all ages. Todd McFarlane did the artwork for this controller. The picture won't soon rub off onto your hands, and it's a great conversation piece amongst your plain colored controllers.

  • Nice feel, terrible battery life
    By A3ALWR0H4KKVZB on 2005-11-23
I like this controller, connects well and feels good in my hand. However, one huge drawback is the battery life. If you have this controller, you pretty much have to get the recharging kit because this sucker kills batteries dead. Both controllers I have used the batteries after about 8 hours of gameplay. My logitech controllers (I use for Xbox and PS2) have used the same batteries for 6 months, and are still going strong. Still, I wouldn't use the wired ones, my friends can pass by without tripping on wires and crap. Just get the charger kit.

  • obviously most of you have never used a wireless controller before
    By A3GLBM38X5M5G0 on 2006-08-06
Dont get me wrong the controller is inovative and feels good and is really a grea idea but the one huge problem that noone has mentioned is how these things eat up batteries, put it this way, you need to put new AA batteries in the damn thing every three days, and that is not cool at all! I will be buying the wire controlers from now on,

The premium system should have included the battery charger im othere than this MAJOR ISSUE the controller is great, but again let me stresss this issue,...

it is not fun to be in the middle of an online fight in Fight Night 3 and have your controller (that you just put batteries in, well at least you thought you did) die, and get you knocked out when you were clearely winning the fight.

  • Got 360 controller?
    By A15LH0ZNB79DLT on 2008-04-20

  • I've never used a better controller
    By AIZFBWW8NJY90 on 2006-04-05
Microsoft got it right this time. The battery life is no lie either, I easily play 30 - 40 hours on a set of AA batteries. Best of all the headset hooks up to the controller and works wirelessly as well.

    Perfect

  • Wireless is perfect
    By A3D56CXN54BTTV on 2006-08-03
I just bought my 360 and ordered an extra wireless controller on another site (cheaper with free shipping too!) and I love them so far! They never lose connection and they are nice to hold. No wires holding you down either!

My only gripe about these are that they don't come with a rechargable battery! Why make a next generation system and have the state of the art wireless controllers run on "AA"s??? Ohh wait! We can charge an extra 12 bucks to sell battery packs and another 30 for a recharging kit!

Other than that they are great! I saved the money on the recharging cable and bought the recharging dock that comes with 1 battery pack and I bought 3 other battery packs so I'd always have wireless with no wires! Thats the way to go!

    But SHAME ON YOU MICROSOFT!

  • Great product!
    By A3E8YWWDGICEIO on 2007-05-17
Having tried pretty much every controller on the market, The Xbox360 Wireless is easily the best. The "D" pad needs some tweaking, but overall it has a great feel. Sony controllers feel like they are for tiny hands. Add the rechargable pack and you are ready to go!

  • I adore my PINK controller!
    By ALSJYAZ2C22IY on 2007-11-27
I love the Xbox 360 but it was hard sharing my husband's conroller because he always complained about me draining the batteries in it, lol.

So I went and bought me my own, in PINK even! He knows it is mine and he would not be caught dead using it. So I don't have to worry about him draining my batteries, haha.

I had a friend tell me that it was frivolous to get it in pink but I disagree. It works and costs exactly the same as the white ones, so why not shake things up with some color?

The pink is so cute and girly. I really love it!

  • Get A grip
    By A3RYKKYS9E76LR on 2006-04-04
This joystick is the best stick so far. The ability to power on the console, open and close the disc tray, complete control of the 360 interface, light good feeling and a comfort fit, and most of all wire less. I recommend getting a play and charge kit, mainly because changing out the batteries is costly the kit will save hundreds in the future years on battery cost. Now in my opinion when you think about all the sticks that have come out this stands out in the best way Microsoft has found a way to out do the comp. again. I don't want you to think that this is a joke I own 3 and recharge about once every 2 weeks. Nothing interferes with the signal at all not my Nextel, home phone, thunderstorms, rain, snow, "nothing." If you have a 360 YOU NEED this BABBY.

  • Wireless controllers are the way to go.
    By A3C2A3D2KG1F1A on 2007-04-03
First, I would like to say that this controller is LEAGUES above the original XBox controller as far as comfort goes. I used to swear by the PS2 Dualshock controller (yeah, I know you XBox fanboys just cringed cuz I said PS2, but I don't care, I just love games). Anyways, I didn't think any controller could best the PS2 Dualshock. I was wrong. This wireless controller is actually extremely comfortable, even more-so then the Dualshock. Also, unlike the new PS3 SixAxis controller, it actually feels nice and solid, not cheap and plasticy. I absolutely love it.

Wireless is definitely the way to go. I have two extremely hyper Australian Shepherds and I can't tell you how many cords they've chewed, or how many times they've ran through my living room and tripped over cords from other controllers i've owned in the past - causing either the controller or the console to come crashing down. It's like the difference between having a typical universal remote for your TV and having a universal remote for your TV with a cord (yeah, they don't exist with cords but imagine if they did... just not quite right) - or it's like the difference between a infared cordless mouse and a ball-and-chain mouse. My couch is just far enough from my TV so that when I am using a controller with a cord I have to lean over so my cord isn't stretching across the living room. This controller frees me from that, I can just sit back and relax now. It's SO much better. I like how the analog sticks are placed on this controller. When I use the Dualshock now it seems like the analog sticks are much too low. This controller feels perfectly natural.

There is one tiny complaint though. I almost knocked it down to four stars but I just couldn't. I would give this controller a 4.5/5 if I could. My complaint is that the analog sticks slip a tiny bit sometimes - which doesn't happen on the Dualshock because the analog sticks on the Dualshock are coated in rubber, as opposed to the plastic analog sticks for this controller. This is only slightly annoying for me in games like Gears Of War where perfect aiming is essential. It's a bit easier for me to aim with the Dualshock controller. Perhaps this is just an issue because I'm so used to the Dualshock. Other people don't seem to have this problem so it's probably just me.

This controller RULES! Get it! oh and get the rechargeable battery kit too, you'll thank me later.

    By A1EMOD5BE8OL9B on 2007-08-24
was ordered with to work with and match the Xbox 360 elite. It works well and matches the Xbox elite. That is the best anyone can say about it.

  • Nice
    By A2WY0FR0XH5WEP on 2007-09-09
This controller is a nice addition to any halo fans collection, but unless you really want the figure there is a rush to get one. Aside from aesthetic changes its identical to the regular controllers. The image resists scratching reasonably well. Also, the black battery pack matches this controller but unfortunately isnt included.
