  This is a must have with your 360 and a controller. And in black to match your Elite controllers.
  
  You can plug it in via USB to your Xbox 360 and charge the included battery pack while you play your game.
  
  You can also remove your battery pack, and plug the cable directly to your 360 for wired gaming (so your controller won't shut off while you are in the middle of that hired driver Forza race.
  
  This charges via any USB port on your 360, your computer, your cable box, or your dog (if he has included USB hub).
  
  I recommend buying one of these, then buying the Quick Charge Kit. Then you'll have 2 battery packs, the quick charge dock, and a USB charge cable.

  If you have a 360 totaly get the plug and play chargeable batt. Never buy another AA batery! dont get it in black unless you have an Elite system or it might look funny. They are good to have though
  
  BTW: they only work with wireless 360 controllers (incase anyone had quertions):)

  works. the battery lasts forever. charger recharges. price is right. half the price of the quick charge kit, only a few dollars more than 1 battery. includes a battery and allows you to play in case the battery runs dead.

  The xbox 360 has been out long enough for us to know that a charge and play kit is the best way to go to avoid spendling endless amounts of money on batteries. With the new Xbox 360 Halo 3 Controllers and the Xbox 360 Elite out on the market, it was a good idea to sell matching Black Charge and Play kits, since I am rather particular that everything matches, otherwise, ifyou don't care you can still use the white charge kit on the black controller and stillhave it work the same.

• Good idea for hardcore gamers

  I recently got the Xbox 360 elite, and knowing that I was going to be spending hours on it, I knew that some battery power was a necessity. I saw this, that comes with a battery and a cable - and at the price, I really couldn't say no. I was already going to get some rechargeable batteries for my controllers, and the fact that this is just a few more dollars with a battery, its definitely a good idea.
  
  It does take a while to charge, though, and that's obviously because you are using the battery power while it is trying to replace it, but thats not a huge issue unless your gaming spot is usually not readily accessible with a cord attached to your controller. I like my wireless gaming area, so I decided to also buy the Quick Charge kit for 29.99, which also includes a battery. This way, I've got 2 batteries, one in the charger and one in the controller, and have the Play & Charge cord ready if I have a friend come over to play some Halo 3 or something with me and one of us starts to get drained on battery power. Good investment!

  When I first got my 360 in 2006, I picked up 2 of these, and used them often. When I had the controllers plugged into the system with them, I noticed something.
  
  A lot of times, after I turned off my console, the fans on the console would keep running if I had one of the play and charge kits plugged in. I thought it was just continuing to charge the controller. Little did I know, it was actually draining them.
  
  In less than 6 months... neither of the batteries I got with the play and charge kits held a charge at all. These are bad news and a waste of money. The Xbox 360 Quick Charge Kit is a much better investment. I have been using this since then and have had no problems with it at all. Not to mention it charges the batteries much more quickly.
  
  It's a little more expensive, but well worth it.

  This is a must-have for any serious Xbox 360 owner. Not only will you save money on batteries and help the environment, but the convenience is undoubtedly worth it.
  
  The battery pack fits snugly and securely into the back of the controller where the regular batteries would go. You can play for dozens of hours without needing to recharge, but when your controller is finally on its last legs you simply plug the charge side of the cord (which fits into any of the 360's USB ports) into the top slit on the controller. You're able to play while the batteries recharge, and the cord is long enough to allow you to sit a fair distance away. However, it takes such a short amount of time to fully recharge that it'll be a very brief fix! There is a light on the cord top to indicate the batteries' charge as well; red means to leave it in for a while, and green means you're good to go!
  
  This is the black-colored version of the Play & Charge Kit. It comes with both the charging cord and the battery pack. There is a white version to match the more common white controller, but the color of the charge kit is simply for aesthetics; they're interchangeable for either controller. I have the regular white controller and am using the black version with it, though surprisingly it still looks nice with the 360 controller's white and gray theme.
  
  Bottom line: Perfect product. 5 stars. Get it if you don't already have it.

  It seemed to take quite a while to charge the controller pack the first time. However, it doesn't keep you from playing since you can play while it is charging.
  
  I did find that charging on the XBOX while it is turned off is a little quirky. I plugged it in while the XBOX was on, and then turned it off. After a while, though, the USB port seemed to turn off its power and the controller quit charging.
  
  That was not a particular problem for me, though, as I have powered USB ports on both my cable set top box and the Wii. I have since been charging it via the cable box. Works great.
  
  The only real problem, though, is that it was $7 more than a white one, which doesn't make sense at all.

  A great idea. Say you and your friends are having a long day/night of playing, you can just switch this around 4 controllers with rechargeable batteries, and keep them all charged over the whole time you play. We usually get a bunch of us together and take 2 Xbox360's with 2 play and charge kits, with every controller having rechargable battery packs, and can play virtually infinitely without having to stop because someones pack has ran out of batteries. I really can't complain about this product.

  I really enjoy the play and charge kit. How ever i think that it would be better if there was a additional battery pack and a outlet plugin charger. That way while one is charging you could be charging your secondary battery pack for more continues play time.
  I understand that the point of the play and charge kit is to keep playing while it is charging from your xbox system. However, I really don't like having the wire tying me down.

  I didn't want to buy this at first because i figured that I would be fine with batteries. Well, after going through pack after pack of AA's i decided to gt this. With the amount of time that i used my 360, I would have gone through two packs! But I still haven't had to recharge it.:-)
  
  
• Great accessory for the wireless controller

  The XBox 360 Play and Charge kit is a great solution to the problem of batteries. Wireless 360 controllers can burn through a set of batteries fairly quickly, and replacing them can really add up. This is a great solution--it comes with a rechargeable battery and a cord that allows you to play while the battery is being charged. And the cost will quickly be offset by the money you'll save in NOT having to replace AA batteries, believe me.
  
  If your battery runs out while you're playing, just hook the controller to your 360's USB port and you can continue gaming interrupted. This doesn't seem to be the best solution for charging, however. Instead I have my cord hooked up to a USB port on my computer, and whenever a battery gets low I switch to another controller and plug the one that needs charged into my computer. The batteries charge pretty quickly and last a long time.
  
  If you've ever messed with changing batteries out on a Wii you'll see why this product is so great. The cost of this battery is pretty minimal, and with the clutter you can save by using wireless controllers it's definitely worth it in my opinion.

  well wirks great with my black elite system the only reason i bought this item was that the other charger comes in white and my elite system and bettery packs and controls everything is in black but it is working great amazon is the best place for all electronics because of the price shipping time coustomer service and return policy above all you will know that a brand new sealed item will come to your door

  does what it says it does. slow to charge (6+ hours) but you can play while doing so. get the rapid charger and 2 more batteries and save this for a backup.
  
  
• A Great Practical Addition To Your Xbox

  With a wireless controller included with the Elite, this should really have been part of the package.(but you could say that about a lot of things with the Xbox...)
  
  Overlooking that, this is a fantastically practical addition to your Xbox setup. Requiring only 20 minutes of connection from zero charge to a point where you can charge as you play, after the initial five hour charge this kit can hold charge for 30 hours of play (literature says 24 but I've seen 30 with mine.)
  
  My only peeve is that when the charge runs out, rather than getting advance warning, the console will simply lose connection. So avoid online multiplayer in the play time 24-30 hours of use after a charge!
  
  All I have to do now is go out and buy a big bundle of AA batteries to replace the ones I stole out of appliances around the house when I *didn't* have this charging kit...

  Ever since Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4, I have been playing my XBOX a lot. Ever since those games, I've spent probably 50 dollars on batteries just for those games. Today, I remembered that with my Halo edition of the xbox360, I got the play and charge with the cord and battery. I am so happy because of this. I no longer need to take time to switch batteries and spend 15 dollars every month on a pack of 16 batteries. This will quickly be worth your money, and then the rest is just icing on the cake.

  Are you one of those people when they play online like Halo, and when you face someone and suddenly your controller won't respond, and then you realize that you need to replace your batteries, well i was one of those people and my problem buying batteries also ended with this play & charge.
