The LXT330 radio is full of features such as a call alert to notify your intended receiver of incoming traffic, a channel scan to locate activity, and an auto squelch to filter out weak signals. This unit provides both High and Low power settings, so you can choose to maximize transmission distance or save power. The LXT330 also features keystroke tones, a roger beep that confirms transmission conclusion, and a silent operation for quieting beeps, tones and alerts when you can't afford to make extra noise. Midland's LXT330 radio is constructed to be water resistant, so it can be used in most any environment, and has a keypad lock to avoid accidentally changing the radio settings. This radio runs on a Midland 4.8-volt rechargeable NiMH battery pack that can be recharged while in the radio, or can be powered by four AAA batteries during extended trips. These radios are even backed by a manufacturer's three-year warranty. 16 miles is 100% BS By A1T4URZSR97HG6 on 2008-01-24
I have a pair of these and they work but no way will they go 16 miles. I did a test and they won't even go 1 mile. I tried the high power channels. This was line of sight test too. I could see where my other radio was and it wouldn't work. They are not good for heavy populations either. Too many people have the same channels and you hear tons of other people talking. If you live in a highly populated area, I would sugest a radio with a security feature that scrambles your signal. Other than that they are good for short communication. I give it only 2 stars because they are not being truthful about the distance.
Very Affordable By A3K9VYCE1CAXJ5 on 2007-11-17
I order this item all the way from south america and was so pleased with its performance. Its affordable and does the job it has to do. Its a must have. No complain, i'm even thinking of ording a pair of backup handset just to have in case of damage or lost.
Great two way radios By A187T1EFH9K7G9 on 2007-10-20
I bought these for a cruise in November so I will update my review after the cruise. They work great around the neighborhood.
Good, not great By A2KRURY6NMO90K on 2008-01-07
This is the second pair of Midlan radios we own, and they are just OK. By saving a few dollars on this pair you loose several things, specifically the privacy of other versions such as the GXT650 that we own. For the extra money, I would recommend them.
walkie talkie By A1G1J8IFP7CNQL on 2008-04-13
I bought these walkie talkies because they had some pretty good reviews. My elderly father lives with me and can not be left alone and I have six acres of ground, so if I go outside and I'm down the other end he can use the call button to signal me or the talk button and we can hear each other just fine, I keep them on from about 9am to 7:30pm and then put them in to charge at night and they are good to go, so I highly recommend these if you need to stay in touch with someone, though I can't tell you about longer distances, these are great for me.
- Ideal radios for the family
     By AU046I7V2WFGZ on 2007-12-20
I hunt, we explore, and just while the kids are outside playing in the neighborhood the 4 radios I purchased help us to remain in contact. The range seems adequate in our neighborhood for the kids to go play and stay in communication and in the woods these radios really show their stuff.
I highly recomend these radios to anyone with similar needs.
- Good for the price

I haven't tested in plain terrains but they have good coverage. One of them is louder than the other.

- Scarey Beginning
     By A154KQQBWIAVD8 on 2008-01-13
The five stars are actually for Amazon, the radios would get zero stars for the first set, and four for the second.
I purchased these as a Christmas gift for my husband (and me!) We live in a two-story house on a large rural property, and our cell phones don't work from downstairs or the spring from which we pump water. There are days when I have trouble with the stairs, or we need to communicate between the house and the spring box. The radios were to be the perfect solution. After charging them the required 24 hours we found we couldn't get them to work without an unacceptable amount of static. We tried everything, even calling the manufacturer, who said they were defective and to return them to the point of purchase.
The service from Amazon was INCREDIBLE!!!! Very easy return, even paid by them. And they sent the replacements within two days of my contacting them. Oh yeah, and the new radios work perfectly.
- Clear transmission, simple to operate, excellent features, great value.
     By A3388KHFJG3IE9 on 2007-12-25
If you are looking for an easy to operate set of two way radios, buy these. The silent mode is perfect for stealth (deer)hunting which is why we purchased these.
- Does it's purpose.
     By A2C7DV8LOJNKR3 on 2008-01-18
It really functions well as a walkie talkie. However it does not go 16 miles. I got mine to go 2 miles, no further. So if you are looking for long range I do not suggest this product. But if you are going to stay close it works great and at a great price.
- Order Canceled for No Apparent Reason
     By A2U690LY7IA5CD on 2007-12-09
It's Christmas season and I placed this order online four days ago only to get an e-mail today saying the order has been canceled. Amazon and its suppliers should not be saying "in stock" on items that apparently will not ship.
- Serves my purpose
     By A1IMV9KSD9VMW4 on 2008-01-23
I bought this so I could keep track of my mother while we are shopping. I am 48 and she is 69. I must either stay at her side at all times or spend my entire time looking for her and not getting any shopping of my own done. Now we can go our own ways and call each other when we are ready to meet up (she can not use a cell phone and does not have one). We love it. It serves our purpose. It is easy to use - even she can push the button and talk into it. It has worked for us in stores. We have not needed to use it for long distances.
- Perfect for my family.
     By A2Y929H877DFIX on 2008-05-29
I got these for Christmas for my 4-year-old to play with, but kept them for myself! HA! They're so great! We use them in all those situations when cell phones don't work or are just impractical. They're just so handy! I admit that we've probably never gotten 16 miles apart with them, so I can't attest to the distance reaching quite that far. But we've never lost our signal between radios -- ever. The controls are easy. The sound is very clear. And the charge lasts a very long time. I forgot about mine and left it on for a week, once, and it was fine. I even used it for a few more days before I put it back on the charger.
I'm very satisfied with this. I'm even putting another set on my wish list so we can have more than two radios!
- Very Satisfied

Great product at a good price. They work very well around the farm and woods, even in hilly areas. They are light and easy to use. Batteries hold charge for a long time. Charger stand is convenient and nice.
- Works Great
     By A3Z8GMKO7B7HJ on 2008-05-08
These radios were purchased for a large church facility used to communicate with the custodian. They replaced existing battery sucking ones and have been a joy to use.
- Great product
     By A3XTPXD4DU5JN on 2008-05-20
I bought two sets of these and setting them up was simple. They work well and are easy to use. So far they have put up with abuse and are convenient to carry. The batteries last for more than a full day of use. The sound is clear and the call feature is very useful.
- Got the job done
     By A27JT1VIVIETY8 on 2008-07-10
My family used these for my several hundred-mile move -- one in the car, one in the moving truck. We were rarely out of sight of each other, so I can't say much about the range of the radios, but the signal was usually clear. We saved quite a bit on cell phone charges, and the radios were certainly more effective than hand signals.
- A good reason to buy midland's radios....

     By APR283759Y2JO on 2008-11-03
These radios are worth buying- best two way radios we have had yet for our maintenance crew- very clear sound and easy to operate. I'll definitely buy the Midland brand from now on- I've gone through so many Motorola radios and they don't hold a candle to these.
