great for young girls

My daughter actually wanted this toy so badly that she saved up the money to purchase it herself......not bad considering she's only 7 years old. I think it's great. It keeps her busy and she loves it. Her 3 year old sister even has fun just watching her with it and listening to the music. The only thing I worry about is the online access on the Barbie site.....I keep a close watch to make sure the chatting is appropriate and so far...so good. A great buy- would recommend it to friends.
we had high hopes

we had high hopes for this mp3 player. my 9 year old daughter saved her money and bought herself this. it DOES NOT work with subscription services like itunes or napster. you are going to have to purchase tracks. even after i purchased songs from walmart site, we couldn't get them to stay on the player. also the player kept turning off every few seconds even after fully charged. this thing is cute though. cute accessories to go with it but we are returning for one that is compatible with napster. it's just easier that way. my daughter was heartbroken.
Great for young music lovers.

My 8 year old daughter recieved this toy as a birthday present, and she really enjoys listening to it. The volume does not go up very loud, so I do not have to be concerned that she could damage her hearing.
The only issue is the toy's durability. We are currently on our third player in less than a month's time. The first player simply didn't work at all. I exchanged it for a second that worked for about two weeks then just fried. I was able to exchange the second for yet another player. I just hope this one lasts a little longer. If you do purchase this toy, be sure to keep your reciept.

I bought this MP3 player for my 6 yr old twins for Xmas. They love music and are always stealing my CD's. I also wanted them to have a way to listen to Irish music to practice their dance steps. They love them and so do I! This player is so easy to use, and downloading the music was as easy as copying a file to a memory stick. There arent any fancy playlist options but who cares! All I know is that the backseat of my car is no longer a battle zone for which song to put on the radio. They each have their Barbie player earplugs in and little smiles on their faces. And who can beat the price!!! They are also just as interested in changing the little outfits that come with the player. I highly recommend this as an inexpensive way to give your kid her own music without investing in a complicated MP3 player.
Daughter Loves It

My 7 year old daughter wanted this toy and finally received one.
The software and player were very easy to set up and due to her extensive CD collection already, within the hour she ripped and loaded it full of High School Musical, Daughtry and some Fleetwood Mac.
Considering the value of the toy for the price, I'd recommend this easily. It had about 500MB of open storage by default and with a spare mini-SD card I had laying about, she was up to 1GB in no time.

I got these on Amazon for $19.99 for both my almost 5 year old and 8 year old and both love them! Warning though, Walmart downloads are NOT compatible as they are protected with DRM, and be sure to remove the device properly from your computer per the instructions. I discovered that the hard way after buying way too many songs at Wally world. :(
The ear buds are too big for the 5 year old, but work OK for the 8 year old at the smallest setting. I just got my 5 year old some other Head phones. They are adorable with the add on accessories we got with it.
We have not yet tried the online world, and I'm not sure that we ever will. I got them more as MP3 players rather than for the computer games. So far they are working wonderfully (after I figured out they whole DRM thing), and seem as durable as any MP 3 player can be. That being said, one of them was dropped on a floor, and I think the skin had a tab break, as it doesn't stay on real well anymore. I'm hoping a call to Mattel will let me buy a new one. However, I don't that reflects negatively on the product, if you drop it, they will break.

This was a Christmas present for my 10 yr old. It was a bit of a pain to set up but we discovered that by burning our i-tunes tracks to a disc and ripping the music from the disc to the mp3 was our easiest route. WE arn't very high tech at our home and we managed to set this toy up in about an hour and learn a thing or too along the way. My DD has repeatly thanked us and has eagerly shared this toy with her friends and family as her all time favorite gift. I wish it held a charge longer but my daughter doesn't mind because she enjoys the website (not more than webkins though). The website has prescripted commits to use when talking to other members. You have to give permision for your daughter to have self typed conversations + you also have to have the other person set there barbie girl in your docking station (&vice versa)before that option is opened up (great marketing - get their to also buy). With that said it is an awesome security feature. Over all I'm happy.

Let me get this out right away. The MP3 player works just fine. But my daughter was equally looking forward to a "free 1 year subscription with premium content" to www.Barbiegirls.com., a kid safe online community.
Just connect the device to the computer and visit the website and the rest is almost automatic. Or so it was supposed to be. We were utterly unable to connect the device successfully and redeem the membership promise. Worse, the website forgot my daughter's user name and password for the lower tier membership after only a couple days use. My daughter is trying to be a big girl and control her disappointment, but I am frustrated too.
It is going to be multiple helpings of hassle trying to get the website problems ironed out.
Thank goodness the actual MP3 player works without a problem

I bought this for my 4 year old niece for Xmas and she LOVES it! It took a Long time to figure out how to put the music on, but that was our only problem with it. This is by far her favorite toy right now! She wants to play with it all the time! At $19.99 it is definitely a great buy!

Our 12 yr old has been begging for an MP3 player and we got her this for Christmas and she LOVES IT! It is very easy to use, comes with everything you need! Simple to upload music and easy to charge. I am very pleased with this purchase! And especially @ 20 bucks! What a great deal!

I bought this toy for my 6 yr old cousin and she is having a blast. I have to say that before I actually ordered mine. I went to Toys R Us and priced it...$69.99. Hello! $19.99 on Amazon, who can beat that! If it broke and I bought another it would still beat TRU's price, but luckily we haven't experienced any problems yet. I transferred music directly Windows media player before even using the setup CD that it came with. It is sooo easy. GREAT DEAL!!!!

This is a great MP3 and on line game toy. My 7yr old got it for christmas and I paid way more than $20. Now I am buying this one for her BF for birthday so they can go on-line together (at their request). It looks like the only reason it is low price is color green so go for it. Great toy. On line chats are restricted as to content and is very safe. I've been watching and seen no problems. Great fun toy for the computer lovin' kid. MP3 is great too!!

I have 4 girls I bought this for at Christmas. Overall. the MP3 player is great for starting off. It's style is cute. But, I have already had to replace one of them. It just quit working, I believe it was the USB port that caused it to go bad. But, with 4 girls I could only charge one at a time because they charge per USB port. The MP3 player does not turn up very loud. And the interchangable face plates and clothes always fall off they do not snap in very well at all. Cuute but with many disadvantages. I will do a little more research before I buy one again.

My daughters loved this toy. It is versatile use it as an MP3 player, doll or for computer games. I am not sure about educational value but it is fun. So much after I bought two for my daughters I bought two more for my nieces. I would watch them carefully online. Lots of people we don't know are constantly asking to be friends.

My 10 yr old daughter loves this mp3 player, as her mother it would be nice if they would of linked it to itunes - would be so much easier to download. It's nice that she can do more with it than just listen to it.
It is nice that you can listen to it, use it to play online, and dress it with the many accessories.
