Mattel Little Mommy Real Loving Baby Dollx$49.49

(44 reviews)

Best Price: $79.95 $49.49

The Real Loving Baby Doll features the sweetest, most realistic behaviors. Give her hugs, kisses, and hold her often - she needs lots of nurturing, just like a real baby. Girls are able to name their very own Real Loving Baby Doll; and through speech and hearing, the doll will recognize her name, ask for her bottle, play peek-a-boo with giggles, take her blanket to sleep, and so much more. It requires 4 "AA" batteries, which are not included. It measures 15.5" tall.

Your little girl will fall in love with Real Loving Baby, an interactive doll that she’ll want to nurture and care for every day. Girls can choose and record a name for their doll, and through speech recognition, Real Loving Baby will actually respond when her name is spoken. The 16-inch doll can also move her head, arms, and wrists in a lifelike fashion.

Real Loving Baby
The realistic doll will even ask to play peek-a-boo.
The combination of these realistic features means that Real Loving Baby will open her arms for a hug, ask for and blow kisses, cover her eyes to play peek-a-boo, and giggle when you tickle her. Other amazing characteristics include her asking for and drinking from her bottle, rubbing her eyes and taking her blanket when it’s time to go to sleep, playing with her teddy bear, and more. Her voice is as realistic as her actions--young and cute without being creepy or scary.

The adorable baby doll has rooted blond hair and her eyes open and close. She is dressed in a pink footed jumper with a matching soft hat. Other accessories include a baby blanket, her feeding bottle, a teddy bear, and a diaper. Four AA batteries are required, but not included.

  • A Precious Doll

    By A1W9P9TJ9UGAF2 on 2007-11-22
I bought this doll for my 4 year old granddaughter. She loves the verbal interaction. Her voice is very clear and her peek-a-boo actions and giggles are very cute. When you record her name be sure to go to a quiet area of the house. This should be done by an adult. Any little girl will love this doll. I do and I'm all grown up. I was concerned that this is a "mattel toy under the Fisher Price name", however, she was not on any recall list I could find.

  • extra clothes don't fit

    By A2AQAI5FH4DBW3 on 2007-11-19
The doll is great, but the extra outfits don't fit - so don't waste your money buying them. I bought this doll along with the Princess outfit designed for the Little Mommy dolls. It was tough getting the short sleeves over the arms and the velcro in the back hangs open. Oh well. Our 6 year old loves the doll, whom she named Elizabeth. It's a cute doll. It recognizes its name, has many sayings, and we love the way she moves her head and arms. Our little one is still happy with it - so I'm happy with it.

  • A cute doll

We purchased this for our daughter's 5th birthday. She saw it and wanted it so badly. She loved it at first but now a week later she doesn't play with it at all. Which I guess is true for many childrens toys. The doll moves well and holds its bottle and teddy well. It does not recognize it's name however. It is expensive for a toy that my daughter did not particulary enjoy. I think mostly she is not at doll girl -so if your daughter is a doll lover this would be great. Decent quality.

  • A Surprising Little Gem

    By AP07EXQ123OLY on 2007-12-28
Initially, I resisted buying this doll because of the expense. Any doll over fifty bucks had better be one fantabulous toy. But then I found one at the red bullseye store on Christmas Eve for less than half the listed price here. I had already purchased the Chou Chou Mommy Make Me Better doll because it, too, is somewhat interactive, my 4 year old daughter fancies herself a doctor, and it was only about twenty bucks. However, as soon as I spotted the bullseye deal, I caved to the image of seeing my daughter's face on Christmas morning when she received TWO interactive dollies.

Even though I have never been a gal who cared two bits for dolls, I can understand my daughter's enchantment with this toy. She easily learned her name (only took two tries & it was quick - just remember to go someplace quiet to record it), and she (the doll) is willing to 'play' as long as my daughter wants. She doesn't cry (which I am grateful for since the Chou Chou doll cries) and she doesn't wet anything. Personally, I don't get the appeal of having a doll that wets its diapers, but then again, I did state that I am not a doll person. Another plus is that the doll's voice is not creepy at all - a HUGE plus in the book of someone who was creeped out by dolls as a child.

Anyhow, the doll does exactly as the package claims: she talks, she responds to her name, she plays peek-a-boo, asks for her teddy bear and her bottle, will announce when she's sleepy & will ask for her blankie and go to sleep. Plus, she seems really durable (if not somewhat mechanical inside) & she has an ON/OFF switch. Can't ask for more than truth in advertising!

  • Just Wonderful!

    By AOUZTOV8V6SX9 on 2008-01-09
I LOVE this doll! Thankfully, so does my daughter, but I do to! Its a parents dream interactive doll. It doesnt screech at you, it doesnt pee, it doesnt have to have special diapers or food. Great, right? The best part of it is this-if you dont play with her for a few minutes she goes to sleep and stays that way until you pick her up. Not only that, but she is a quiet doll, not loud and obnoxious like many talking dolls can be!

This doll is A+++ for both kids AND parents!

  • Disappointed mom & 4 yr. old
    By A24MG7HYR3L7AY on 2007-12-27
Our 4 yr. old received this doll for Christmas and both mommy and daughter are disappointed. We should have heeded other reviews. My daughter became frustrated after about the 6th try in naming her new doll. My daughter is not soft spoken and even tried stating the new name rather loudly after several other attempts at a normal voice. No success. Mom finally had to name the doll therefore it does not respond to my daughter's voice.
Also, it is tricky trying to get the magnets placed properly in the dolls hand in order to get her to drink her bottle, hold the bear and play peek a boo with the blanket. If it is tricky for mom, a 4yr. old will surely struggle- and does. Needless to say, this Christmas gift is not a winner at all and I would not recommend the doll, especially for anyone younger than say 6yrs. old.

  • Great, but I question the age range
    By A3C9DKX1HVGOXR on 2007-12-29
I can see how a slightly older child would enjoy it much more than a 3yearold, although I understand a 3yearold IS capable of playing with this doll. Even at our almost-4-yearold's age, she is almost not patient enough or not passive enough to let the baby do its thing, but more than that, the programming of the name to begin was discouraging.
The doll does everything it says it can, is extremely cute, doesn't cry, and of course can also be played with if it's not turned on. It is an excellent toy...I just would wait till your child is a little older than 4.
Our story is: our daughter became discouraged every time we tried to program its name so we kept the doll off for a few days as she got used to her. Today my husband just programmed the name himself and our daughter was delightfully surprised with the doll and fell in love with her...
Some kids are just crazy about dolls and some are not. Know which way your child leans.

  • Overall Great Doll !!
    By A15ITEMQ3605CV on 2008-01-05
My 3 yr old got this for Christmas, I was worried she might be too young for it but it has worked out fine. She is not really interested in using the bottle, teddybear and blanket with her, she kind of just does her own thing so the fact that the doll moves on relatively quickly has worked out well for us, but I could see how it could be frustrating. She does seem to need help with the bottle, she misses her mouth a lot but in some ways that makes it more realistic and my daughter just likes to feed her herself which also works.

She is a nice size for my daughter but a little heavy. Her arms feel weird and her main body is pretty hard & heavy, I would think this could be improved given other interactive dolls I have seen along with less of a robotic sound when she moves her arms (though her movements are pretty complex her arms do more than just move back and forth). I didn't find the sound too loud though and it didn't bother my daughter and I got use to it. She has soft legs that aren't mechanical but it is kind of neat the way her arms and head move makes it look like her whole body is moving.

She works better in a quiet environment but I think that is to be expected. We had the same problem naming her as others have mentioned and she does ask to sleep a lot but will move on if you do something else with her. It is really cute how she says "Hi Mama" when my daughter picks her up and she also says "Up Mama" if she is sleeping and gets woken up. My daughter is really enjoying her, every time we play with her she does something new, she got the hiccups the other day. We have not heard her cry, which is ok, not sure she does cry, but I guess not very realistic.

I do worry about how durable she is being a young 3 yr old my daughter has dropped her several times, one time she reset herself and we had to rename her, so not sure how long she will last.

One thing I like about her is she is only motion sensitive and does not react to noise if she is sleeping. So if my daughter has gone to bed she doesn't react to noises in the room only if she gets bumped or moved. Overall we have been very happy with her and I would recommend her. She is a very cute doll.

I do wish there were more accessories specific for this doll, like clothes etc. the other Little Mommy dolls are smaller so not sure their accessories will work with this doll.

  • Would buy again, Wonderful for older kids.
    By A12J2E7FBHF2PY on 2008-01-12
Yes I bought this Little Mommy Doll for Christmas for my daughter. Even though my daughter is 25 years old and disabled. She wanted this doll for Christmas. It has been a very good purchase. She really enjoys the interactive features of the doll. She understands that you can not hold onto the doll when the doll wants to raise her hands up or play pattycake. I am not sure how long doll would continue to work if it was handled by a rough toddler. I am happy with my purchase and my daughter Loves her Little Mommy Doll. Thanks KarenMattel Little Mommy Real Loving Baby Doll

  • Loves it anyway
    By A1B73D9LRO4Q47 on 2008-01-27
I got this doll for my four year old daughter this Christmas. We followed the instructions carefully for naming the doll...quiet room, having child's voice, etc. The doll has yet to respond to her name..my daughter loves it anyway. The doll repeats very few of the responses and whenever it chooses. My daughter loves it anyway. The doll seems a bit stiff and robotic to me...my daughter loves it anyway. The doll is not what I had hoped...but it seems to be "just what my daughter's always wanted". There isn't a day that goes by without this doll being played with.

  • LOOKS TOTALLY AWESOME!!!
    By on 2008-02-12
I am getting this doll in three days... and i am totally exited!!! I am eleven years old... and i am so exited! if you have a 8 to 12 year old, and you are thinking about getting this doll, but you think she might be to old? well... i am eleven, and i cannot stop looking at pictures of her online!! my mother says it is smart to not think i am to old to play with dolls. she thinks it is stupid to think i am to old, when i am eleven! i even can't stop thinking about her!!! and i am not kidding!

  • I didn't find it worthy but most reviews says otherwise :). For me, it was irritating...
    By A1IIMPPUWXSS6K on 2008-05-30
I bought it on the basis of positive reviews on various sites. I have 2yr old toddler girl who loves dolls. I thought it would be great fun for her as well as for us to watch the two interacting and playing together.
I opened the parcel on delivery and did the required steps which were easy enough and gave a name to the doll. Soon after that, the doll started furnishing the requests. Now, in the ads I have seen doll asking for things but it came as monotonous and repetitive. She just keep on asking things frustrating every one of us. Any yes, it's more a machine than a doll. It's every part is motorized so don't expect it to be loved by toddler as they normally do with a "normal" doll.

  • Every little girl's dream baby doll!!
    By A3BX806I4A99BT on 2008-01-18
My eight year old BEGGED and BEGGED for this doll for Christmas. I hadn't seen the commercials, so I didn't know what all the fuss what about. When I saw the $49.99 price at Walmart, I thought, "No way!! For a doll?? What does it do? Figure and submit your taxes?"
So I checked it out at Amazon, and when I saw I could get it for $37 and considered that it was the #1 thing on my daughter's Christmas wish list, I went ahead and got it.
Can I just say that this doll is amazing? You choose the doll's name and she remembers it, and responds when she's spoken to. When you put her blankey in her hands, she raises it up and down over her face and plays peek-a-boo. When you lay her down, she say's she's sleepy and pulls the cover over herself. She asks for her bottle and when you place it in her hands, she raises it to her mouth and makes a sucking noise, then burps. She does several cute things like this, asks for her teddy bear, then hugs it when you give her the bear and says "I love my teddy".
She's just as cute as can be and my daughter LOVES playing mommy with a doll that interacts with her. This was TOTALLY worth the money!

  • We Love Her!
    By A3OAVHP01J70H9 on 2008-03-13
This doll is so sweet!! I think the specified age is 3+, but I got her for our 2 year old and was worried about her arms, which seem somewhat delicate, but after many months, she's still holding up. She says and does the sweetest things and I've been recommending her to everyone. I am a doll lover and have not found a cuter, interactive doll.

  • A new baby for my two year old daughter
    By A3K71W03TF9JIE on 2008-05-08
I got this for my two year old daughter as she is growing into babies. She likes all the movement and noises she makes, as well as the doll has maganets in her hand so she can hold the blanket, teddy bear and bottle. My daughter loves it!!! A great baby doll.

  • TALK ABOUT THE PERFECT GIFT FOR THIS AGE GROUP!
    By A2ODCF0CI103CZ on 2008-01-04
WOW...I purchased this for my 5 yr old granddaughter for Christmas and it was a big hit with everyone! My granddaughter loves it. My daughter did have to program her name in as my grand didn't speak loud enough.
I have read thru some of the reviews here and wonder why some things are even mentioned. Yes, there is a low volumn motor noise as she moves...very low. NO NO NO do not give this to a child who is still in the tear their heads off stage. This is not for small children.
Really she is so darling and my granddaughter fell right into the "Mommie" mode with her.
If you want to certainly please a little girl with a gift .. this is it.
I purchased rechargeable batteries to go with her so my granddaughter can always keep her going.
She kisses, throw kisses, says the cutest thing (an extrememly polite baby too), hugs, pee-a-boos and covers her eyes, and more. You should have seen my grand's eyes when the doll said, "Ut-oh, potty Momma". ROFL. She was so into role playing that she paniced thinking the doll was going to really potty.

  • My Four Year Old LOVES This Toy!
    By ASDLXU9ZHNWIM on 2008-01-07
My four year old daughter got this for Christmas this year. She absolutely was elated when she opened it. "Santa" was torn between this and the Amazing MaKayla doll, but this won out since the other doll seemed to be a little too complicated for a four year old with the variation in different cries, etc. Also, for the price, kids can be a bit rough with toys, and spending $65 on a doll that could potentially be dropped and such made me cringe.
We are so pleased that this is the one we went with. This doll has gotten so much love - she is so responsive and so realistic and just perfect for little ones to feel like they are caring for a real baby. Naming her was simple, we had no problems recording the name and having her respond to her name (Emma as my daughter decided), but sometimes getting the baby to hold the blanket and bear just right with the magnets can be difficult. My daughter just puts it up next to her for her, which she seems to want to do anyway. Our daughter just laughs when "Emma" plays peek-a-boo with her, and thinks it is so neat that she is so realistic. It doesn't do so much that it leaves nothing to the imagination, which is what we love about it as well.

Like any toy, she doesn't have this glued to her 24/7, and she goes through phases of playing mommy all day one day, and not so much the next. Each day she's into her mommy phase, this is the one doll she goes for first and foremost. It's been a huge hit, and is highly recommended for any "Little Mommy" in my book!

  • great doll
    By AWBPRJB7GODKU on 2008-01-08
We gave this doll to our 4 year old daughter for Christmas and she loves it! She plays with it all the time. The doll has many requests and responses and our daughter is quite able to put the blanket, teddy bear, and bottle into the correct places for the magnets to hold with the doll's hands. My sister gave her a doll carrier (pretend car seat carrier) for Christmas as well and it has been very convenient to hold the doll and all of her items.

  • Great

Hi everybody. I live in Brazil and my language is Portuguese as everybody knows, I believe on it. First of all, I've chosen this toy cause I wanted to start my daughter's new language. And she has liked it very much, with some natural difficulties but it seemed to be fine.

  • Love Little Mommy
    By A1A6N745LDJ5FP on 2008-01-18
We bought this doll for our 3 year old daughter. She loves "Baby Sarah." Even our 5 year old son likes to play with her. Every time she makes a sound or does something, our daughter squeals and laughs. So far there are no problems, and our daughter has already figured out how to turn the doll off. That's great if they are going to be sleeping with the doll. We were really pleased with it and got a much better price on Amazon than we found with Sam's, Walmart and anywhere else that carried it.

  • soooo loud !
    By A35Y2E8WM4GOXG on 2008-01-19
bought this for my daughter - she likes it but it's soooo loud, with no way of turning down the volume. When the arms and legs move (dancing) the sound of the motors driving them also comes thru the speakers which makes the music sound droney. Tried changing batteries to the highest quality we can find, but still has droning sound. Overall pretty disappointing

  • Real Baby
    By A36VTA1PNIJD4P on 2008-01-21
Bought this for my three year old daughter who has been begging for a sibling. This baby is so real and so demanding, my daughter has removed the pressure for a brother or sister.

  • Not soft
    By A2E9VW8175STQV on 2008-01-22
My three old would rather play with her soft little mommy doll. This doll is sensitive on how to get her to talk and is not soft to hold and cuddle. She loves the little mommy dolls that cost around $10.

  • Little Mommy Loves her doll
    By A18Y9XV15EGH5Y on 2007-12-26
My 6 year old went ga ga for this doll. It is not the one she asked one but is the one she got and she can't imagine what the other one did that this lovely doll does not. The doll has captivated her attention. She has a very sweet voice and is a good natural size.

  • Fun interactive baby doll
    By A3A5K77PO2J3AL on 2008-01-02
Santa brought this baby doll for our 3 1/2 year old daughter, and she loves it. It has a dozen or so phrases, and it recognizes its bottle, bear and blanket. We can't seem to get it to recognize its name as its supposed to, though. Wish she had a broader set of things that she says, but my daughter doesn't seem to notice any lack. Also, don't leave this doll on when it's not being actively played with, as she continues to move, talk, etc, and uses up the batteries very quickly.

  • Super sweet baby doll!
    By A3NTXH0NK020AR on 2008-01-07
This doll was a christmas present for my 2 year old daughter. She loves it! The doll is so lifelike, I catch her talking back to it! Sometimes, it scares her if she is sleeping and she gets bumped, she will start talking, and that has scared my daughter, but overall, she loves her!

  • Sweet doll!
    By A2ERJL3FPYJ171 on 2008-01-08
According to my daughter, this beautiful doll makes not just kissing but also farting sounds, so beware! If you turn her off at bedtime, you'll be able to save quite a bit on batteries. It's been just over two weeks and we're happy overall with this purchase.

  • ADORABLE
    By A1TQ8293O8WWQW on 2008-01-12
I BOUGHT 1 DOLL WITH ACCESSORIES, AND ANOTHER GRANDDAUGHTER FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS DOLL AND NEEDLESS TO SAY, I FOUND IT ON HER WISHLIST.

  • My grandaughter might be a little young for it, but
    By A3UUNSC4HSECH7 on 2008-02-08
I know she will grow into all the things it can do. She just turned 2 and loves to carry it around, but we took out the batteries until she is a little older. She loves the bottle and the toy it came with and will play with those also:)
I think in general it is very durable, the price was great that I got it for, I had found them for over [...] dollars, and got this one at [...].
Overall I would recommend this item and have told others about it.

  • It`s a nice doll for a gift
    By A2KAPYC5STWLN0 on 2008-06-11
Funny doll! Nice gift for my 4 years old daugther.

Perhaps the only downside is that after just 2 months of use started to sound weard around the shoulders and not having the same motion range for the arms. My daugther still enjoy the doll though
