  • Good Concept but Poorly Executed: each Charger is 3 Loose Components!

    By A2QRXQPHDMFCQV on 2008-02-02
The concept is nice: that you carry one set of auto and wall chargers for different devices but change just the tip for each device. In practice, I found the following problems:

    1. Each charger is 3 components: wall/auto unit, cable, and the tip that goes into the device and these 3 components do not fit securely, especially the cable keeps coming out of the wall or auto unit.

    2. The charger does not come with even one tip. So make sure you order the tip for your device along with the charger. They should have at least enclosed one common mini usb tip in the package. Charger itself is cheap but tips are very expensive - that is where they rip you off.

    3. You get only one cable. So you have to carry the same cable to your car and then home. Why couldn't they have 2 cables in the package? Keep one in car and one in the house.

    4. Build is very cheap and shows poor fabrication.

5 Instead of a well made bag/box to keep 4 components, it comes with a cheap nylon bag which does not hold different tips, chargers etc snugly. They keep falling out.

The result is that this product leaves you with a bad taste. I would have been better off buying 2 separate chargers -auto and wall- for $5 each from cellularfactory than paying $30 for iGo which comes with only one cable. Good concept but very poorly executed. I would not mind paying more for a well made charger with at least one common tip (mini usb), 2 cables, and a good bag/box to hold everything together.

  • Perfect All-in-One

    By AUE3MDEUZGY3I on 2008-01-16
I was surprised to see a one star review for this item. Then I read the review and realized that this reviewer apparently wasn't familiar with what this item is. It's a universal charger for all your devices. As is obvious from all the links on the page you need to purchase the adapters appropriate for your device(s). I decided to go with this product after my new ipod did not come with a charger. I was planning a trip and needed to be able to charge my ipod and my cell phone and one charger is much better than two. To determine the adapters to purchase I went to the iGo website where you tell them the devices you have and they tell you the adapters required. It's a perfect way to get rid of some extra clutter!

  • Kindle buyers beware

    By ADM49T5XBLVCS on 2008-01-14
I bought this for my Kindle, notice it is listed as a kindle accessory, it arrived quickly, but is unusable without a "tip" sold separately...duhh like where and how? there is no way to plug it into the kindle. Totally useless. A note in the description with a reference to the correct tip would have been nice.

  • Works as advertised

    By AO7WRVFJ86T2P on 2008-01-18
None of the big box office or electronics stores sell this item in my area. Radio Shack stocks this item if you need it immediately, but you can order it from Amazon and save $10-$20 if your willing to wait for shipping time.

This item is very light and transportable. The retractable power cord is a nice convenience and keeps the cord organized when not in use. The recharger powers my Tungsten E2 PDA, Sprint cell phone, Ipod Classic (6th gen.), and Nintendo DS Lite. I threw away the big bulky factory transformers that came along with my electronics items and reduced the clutter in my laptop rolling case. Not to mention, that the laptop case is a bit lighter and easier to carry and roll around. The included mesh travel pouch to store tips and the recharger is too small and a useless accessory that can be thrown away. The Case Logic Model #TBC3 with barcode #085854065092 is ideal for storing this recharger and accessories.

Specific tips for your electronics item will cost $5-$15 apiece. This product will NOT power your laptop. A different iGo recharger model ($70-$100) for laptops is available and it will also power other electronic gadgets. The laptop recharger also requires purchasing tips specific to your gadgets. I use a factory OEM recharger to power my laptop computer, because the computer is too expensive and contains too much data to risk using non-OEM products. Keep in mind that the computer is easy to replace, but the time and expense recovering your data, re-installing your software, re-setting your preferences, and downloading software upgrades is another story. Which reminds me that I should backup my data to the external drive right about now.

In summary, this product works as advertised. Business travelers will appreciate the light and compact design that replaces many heavy and bulky OEM rechargers and the parts fit snugly without coming loose.

  • kindle accessory

    By A39C3BCC6QMA1A on 2008-05-18
It appeared to be a good product; however, it did not fit the connections for my kindle. I was disappointed because it was advertised as a accessory for the kindle, but it was not.

  • Works Perfectly with the Kindle!
    By A3MJEDCKTSQRAJ on 2008-02-22
This charger, with Tip A00 works perfectly with the Kindle. It is just what I needed to charge the Kindle in an automobile or while on the road. Highly recommended.

  • AC/DC Charger together
    By A1A535TCGNMVPI on 2008-04-15
Although the plastic looks and feels like very cheap plastic and as if were to fall it'd come apart easily (mine has yet to fall), this is a nice idea of having a AC (home) and DC (on the road) charger for your Kindle or such.

Keep in mind though you NEED a tip that's appropriate for your device. Be it the A00 tip for your Kindle or whatever. Having this alone will not do anything for you.

It comes with a nice black bag to keep both chargers and the wire spool inside of along with the tip.

  • Convenient for travel, but not for everyday
    By A2SCU7HIMJ4VP9 on 2008-04-29
I got the iGo Everywhere charger set not to replace my regular manufacturer-provided chargers, but to supplement them. I have my phone and iPod chargers at home, and I keep this little packet in my car (or my suitcase) for when I'm away from home to minimize the tangle of cords.

    First, the cons:
The retractable cord is a very nifty idea, but also a bit cumbersome as it makes the cord very heavy, and thus it becomes impossible to balance the device you're charging on, say, the arm of a chair or a dashboard unless you find a way to secure it against something else so the weight of the cord doesn't drag your electronic device to crash on the floor. Also, the included carry-bag is rather flimsy, and doesn't have spare room for more than one or two tips(and even then its not a very secure arrangement as stuff tends to just fall right back out of the elastic edges of the case). Not a big issue if you just keep it in one place relatively securely tucked away, but a potential problem if it's going to get tossed about. And this may be just me, but I've never been able to get a full charge out of the car charger. It'll boost it over half the battery, but never seems to reach fully charged. This isn't a big problem for me as I don't rely on charging my stuff in the car, and the iGo Everywhere includes a wall adapter so I just have to find a wall outlet and then I'm good.

    The pros:
It IS very nice not having to have a wild tangle of multiple chargers for a bunch of different electronics. Having just the one charger set, plus a variety of tips, is really quite convenient when space could be an issue (such as in a briefcase).

Overall, a worthwhile additional charger, but not great as a primary charger.

  • Nice idea but does not work
    By A2CL1VFLW09O6J on 2008-05-19
This sounded great and had good reviews so I got one for me and one for my wife. We both have trouble with our iPods not charging sometimes when we use the wall adapters. Sometimes they charge, sometimes they don't. I also have trouble sometimes with my cell phone not charging when I plug it in. Sometimes it charges and sometimes it doesn't. The car adapters do not work at all with either iPod or with either cell phone. The whole point of having a charger is to charge your battery. When you plug in your cell phone before bedtime expecting to have a full charge when you get up, it's very frustrating to have a dead battery instead.

  • This product is a waste of money
    By A1ILR2V7FOS0WW on 2008-05-16
This product is a waste of money. It does not support B-tips, which are still around for peices of equipment for which they are not supporting anymore, and have no A-tips available. Of course, they do not advertise that the B-tips do not fit.
I consider it a peice of junk and it will be returned.

  • Works well for recharging my Kindle
    By A2IMJ568SJ22UW on 2008-04-04
I bought this with the iGo A00 Power Tip as a backup AC charger for my Kindle.

It works well. The pieces (charger, cable, tip) fit together snugly. The retractable cable is very convenient for quickly packing and unpacking.

The main drawback is the combination of charger + retractable cable + tip is getting on for twice the size of the native Kindle charger. However the iGo charger can also be used for other devices.

If you don't need the DC car charger, the iGo Universal Wall Charger will also work with the iGo Kindle tips.

  • Excellent
    By AEJ5JOMITMSH2 on 2008-04-10
I've already been using the iGo regular wall charger for traveling, but find that this combo kit is even better. I keep it with me in my car and whenever I need it, whether in the car or in my office, its so convenient.

  • So Handy
    By A1LBI8P76MUWP4 on 2008-05-25
This is a fantastic product. No more toting chargers for my iPod, cell phone, PDA, Kindle, computer, etc. The unit is compact, easy to use and versatile. I've used it on airplanes, in the car, in airports and train stations. They named this one right by calling it 'iGo Everywhere'. The storage case keeps it safe, clean and the outside mesh pocket makes finding the correct tips a breeze. And the iGo website is very user-friendly so finding the correct tip for your device is fool-proof. A must-have for business and recreational travelers alike.

  • can't be used by itself
    By A1BD2A0X7O4I9Q on 2008-06-24
This product requires specific cables for various applications. The makers of this item do not give you any information on where to get the cables needed. Without the add on cables, this is a useless device.

  • Disappointed
    By A164ALCJNKWOO7 on 2008-11-03
The product is not as versatile as indicated. Since it was on the page with the Kindle, I thought it was used for it overseas but it isn't. It also doesn't work on my Blackberry.

  • Tip not included ... yes this means you still have to spend over $10 to get this to work.
    By A1IDAKX7OM3QIE on 2008-11-04
VERY expensive and tip sold separately! That means you still have to buy the tip for an additional $10. In addition I had a hard time with the retractable system.

  • Satisfied
    By ALCNOZAR6UCDE on 2008-03-05
Satisfied with product. However, it was VERY SLOW in getting the merchandise. It took TWO WEEKS to get product. Don't know why though, maybe it was delivered by Pony Express.

  • Staying in Outlet Problem
    By A286OTPDL420YK on 2008-05-24
I really like the ease that you can change the adapters because unlike others that I've owned they fit snuggly and haven't gotten loose after over three months of use however, the unit doesn't always stay in the outlet. You have to be very careful to be sure your item that is being charged is in a very stable place because the iGo will unplug with very little pull. I still give it high marks for being useful and easy to find in airports etc if you lose an adapter. It would be nice to have like a lip pocket or something that attaches to the iGO to store your additional adapters. If you need a good universal charger you will be pleased with this one.

  • I too go.
    By A3LNIDN26MZUO2 on 2008-06-11
I've used this in the car in indoors for three different cell phones without problem. Way to go!

  • If you don't have this, why are you waiting
    By A2EZ83DRDKGA64 on 2008-09-10
The iGo system is the best. I use it for everything, and I don't buy from companies who don't have tips. This goes with me when I travel, in my house, in my car, and in the office. I send them as Christmas gifts. Again, if you don't have it, you need to purchase it.
