FYI - these have been redesigned By A2MLFQ9M4R6Q5V on 2007-11-11
There is much outdated information about these headphones, so here's the straight poop, 2007 style. Notice that the cable is black and white - that's how you know you're looking at the redesigned version of Bose's In-Ear headphone. The silicon tips have been fixed, so they don't have the falling-off problem which many experienced with the old ones. This is the single biggest complaint people had about the old ones. In fact there are probably hundreds of negative reviews to be found online where the reviewers gave these cans an abysmal score for that flaw alone. They stay on tight now. Other improvements: a lanyard/clothing clip for the chord and an angled plug.
Other things you should know:
1. You don't stick them into your ear canals like with other in-ear buds. These sit just shy of the ear canal. So they block less noise, but create more of a sense of space or soundstage than I've experienced with true in-ear phones. I also get a sense that this might be a little more safe for your long-term hearing than true in-ear buds.
2. They sound very rich and lovely. Lots of low-end, though the low-end probably isn't as clean as on some more expensive cans. Nice highs and mids.
3. The most comfortable phones I've ever worn, although we're all shaped differently, so that may be meaningless to you. That said, part of the reason they are more comfortable to me is because they're not really IN my ears.
Altogether, I consider these headphones to be a really good value for this price range and a nice alternative to sticking something into your ears. I actually like their sound better than both Bose's on-ear and over-the-ear headsets.
OH MY GOD YES!! By A2G63XK1BCNJP0 on 2007-11-21
Finally! Finally I have come across some good ear buds!
I first tried 3 different pair of isolating ear buds $30 and under. JVC, Koss & Sony. One after another they didn't even come close to meeting my expectations. Those Sony Fontopia's...what a joke! Shame on Sony for putting out such a poor product.
I decided to throw some serious money at the situation to see if that would help. It did. As soon as I popped these new Bose Triports in, I could tell the difference in quality immediately. You want bass? YOU GOT BASS! It is a very warm and full sound that I immediately loved the first time I heard it. The bass, which was extremely lacking in the cheaper ear buds, is almost TOO much for these. Almost...but not quite. Any more bass would be too much, and if just a tad was taken away I wouldn't mind at all. But the way they come suits me just fine. But if you don't like a lot of bass in your music perhaps you should not even consider these.
Before I go any further I will acknowledge that I'm sure there are better pairs of ear buds out there, but I haven't the time, money or patience to try them all. This Bose pair that I have come upon, sounds great, so I will end my quest here.
These are not considered 'isolating' ear buds, and I consider that a GOOD thing. I really like how you don't have to squeeze them deep in your ear canal to get a snug fit. Each 'bud' seems about twice the size of the less expensive brands. When I first put them in my ears they felt a little bulky and as if they might fall out with too much head turning. But, they didn't. Using the default medium size rubber adapters I find these stay put in my ears even better than the isolating type. And they are FAR more comfortable. You can wear these ear buds for a long period of time before getting fatigued. And the cord is symmetrical! I don't what's going on in the brains of some of these companies making the left cord a lot shorter than the right. I like a symmetrical cord, myself.
I know $[...] is a lot to pay for ear buds, but these sound 10 times better than the $[...] Sony Fontopia's I tried last. You can really HEAR the quality with these. Instead of a cold, harsh, trebly sound, you get warmth and fullness. A very easy to listen to type of sound quality, especially for long periods of time.
Delicious sound!! By A1MW9HSSTJOERE on 2007-11-03
The moment I put on this pair of earphones, I knew this is exactly what I've been looking for. It delivers rich, yet not overpowering bass with the right amount of midtone and treble. I hear more details in the music than ever. The sound quality is so good I can't help going through all my music collections again. This pair of earphones is very addictive but fortunately it is also very comfortable to wear for a long time.
Fantastic! ... but not out of the box [read on] By A32OLP3ZIZWRIR on 2007-12-03
I was on the fence for buying these for almost a year, and finally took the plunge. Let me start by mentioning that I've had and absolutely adored a pair of Bose over-the-ear TriPorts for many years now, so the bar was already high. But walking around the office with the 'big blues' on was getting a little embarrasing ...
Out of the box, quite bluntly, these buds stunk. I was extremely upset. I got the new Zebra-striped model, so I didn't have the problem with them falling apart, but the sound quality was just horrid. They had almost NO bass (keep reading, please) and you had to absolutely crank the player due to what I assumed was an inefficient set of cans. After searching around a bit, many people mentioned that you really need to burn these in, which I always thought was a silly myth. It's not! After a few days of use, they REALLY came into their own for me. The EQ settings I had set on day one were so far off by day five, I'm still stunned. After a proper burn-in period, the bass comes out full-force, the sensitivity improves significantly, you get used to the feel of the gels, and you find yourself wondering .. I was really going to RETURN these?
Don't get me wrong, they do not and will never compare to set of full headphones (especially not Bose phones), but that's not really the point is it? I completely agree that the only problem (*AFTER* burn-in) they have is a lack of treble response. I've had to bump up the treble a smidge on my player to account for that. I don't find the bass to be 'muddy' at all when using these exclusively, however if you compare them to full 'phones like the Bose TriPorts I can see, er hear, what people are talking about.
Bottom line: 5/5, but only after burn-in. Treble response is a bit weak without help from an Equalizer. Bass is strong yet 'muddy' compared with higher end equipment. Take the time to burn them in and adjust your player a little and you will not be disappointed. Best feature: Bose listens to customer feedback, be sure to let them know what YOU think.
Great Product By A3OZST53F3LKQU on 2007-11-09
I wanted to replace the headphones on my Ipod for some time as they were cheap $10.00 ones and I kept having to turn the sound up all the way to hear my music with them. I had heard Bose was a good brand and from other reviews I read on various websites I found that there were some problems with these headphones. The two main complaints were that for the price the sound was not all that great and that the headphones slip out of people's ears. First of all I believe you get what you pay for. These headphones are expensive, but for the price they deliver high quality sound. Case in point: I exercise at a gym and constantly have to turn my music volume up all the way so I can hear it. Not so with these headphones. While they don't drowned out all the sound they do a good job of letting the music come through over the other noises. That was the same way on the bus as well. Many people complain that with the ear buds that they fall out of their ears. That was one of my biggest concerns in purchasing this product. People also complained that because you can use removable ear tips that these tips fall off easily. I have had no problems with either of these issues. I use the small size ear buds and they work perfectly. There is a little slipping, but they do not completely fall out of my ear even when I run. So overall I think this is a great set of headphones and nicely accompanies my Ipod.
- Bose Triport in ear earphones
     By A2RC7MN60EL751 on 2007-09-09
This earphone gives crisp sound notes and is one of the most excellent sound devices I have ever seen/heard.
- Redesigned for the better
     By A3FY3H6F4249E0 on 2008-01-11
The main problem I had with the old Bose model was they were always falling out of my ears and the silicon tips were always falling off. These are much better. They come with an improved case and improved tips which do NOT fall off, primarily because the black plastic ridges that the silicon tips cover are raised slightly higher and slightly squared off, allowing the silicon tips to stay on. As another reviewer stated, you can tell the redesigned model because the wires are black and white, but a recent prior version was also black and white. Of course, Bose delivers exceptional sound quality. You can twirl them up and put them in you pocket or purse and go shopping.
Update: April 2008--Well, just when I said they don't fall off, my son lost one of his. They don't USUALLY fall off. (He is an electrician and crawls around attics.) Also, I forgot to tell you, this version comes with a nice little calculator size leather type case instead of a fabric bag. On the older set, whenever I lost a tip, Bose would send me free replacements. I assume they will still do the same. (If not, they can't cost much)
- A WORD OF WARNING!!!
     By A1YTYFGMJ609UN on 2008-06-18
If you think you're getting actual new Bose ear buds for under $50 here on Amazon or anywhere else, think again. Check the prices and you'll see that Bose Tri-port ear buds sell for around $100, give or take a couple bucks. Any seller outside of Amazon selling them brand new here for the outrageous price of $35 is selling you an obvious fake. The unfortunate thing here is these fake ear buds are giving some people the wrong idea on what the Bose sound is.
I bought these Bose ear buds here on Amazon last year for $99. I couldn't be happier with the sound quality and the bass response, which is substantial for ear buds and give me that full-rich sound I would expect from Bose.
My friend was excited a couple weeks ago when he found the same ones I have here on Amazon (sold from another seller) for under $50. I couldn't believe he was able to find these, brand new, for this price.
Well, when they arrived it seemed this price was too good to be true after all. They sound just a little better than the ipod ear buds. Tinny, no bass, loud, and scratchy. A fake. The plug is completely different on these. The actual Bose version of these works with the iPhone. These fakes don't. The real Bose version now comes with a leather zipper case that will also fit your iPod or iPhone. The fakes my friend bought came with the old magnetic leather case that only holds the ear buds alone.
If you really are looking for these ear buds, buy them for their suggested retail price from Amazon itself. It's only $99! A small price to pay for not only the confidence that what you're buying is legitimate, but that you'll be enjoying true Bose sound for years to come. You'll be happy you didn't get duped, trust me.
- Nice sound, terrible design
     By A23MMCBX0C71YT on 2008-01-09
Let's say this straight out: these are NOT in-ear headphones, and it shows. The audio quality from these headphones is excellent, but the ergonomic design is absolutely terrible, for several reasons. Firstly, they don't sit in your ear canal but rather try to fit into the outer shell of your ear. Since this part of people's ears varies enormously chances are good they won't fit your ear at all. None of the 3 sizes fit me at all and they fell out at the slightest movement.
Secondly, they have no (zero) sound-dampening features. I couldn't hear anything from them on the subway at maximum volume. That's awful design, and completely negates the excellent quality of the drivers. I was so disappointed with Bose that after two weeks I exchanged these for a pair of Zen Aurvanas and the difference was phenomenal. As for people claiming these will protect them against ear damage, quite the opposite; the sound is so poor in outdoor environments that you'll have to pump the volume to max to hear anything, whereas with my new in-ears I can set the volume very, very low because they exclude outside noise.
Definitely not recommended as they're not in-ear headphones and have none of the advantages.
- COMFY!
     By AN4FIN0OY0KLJ on 2008-02-09
First ... the sound IS good! They are NOT noise eliminating, which is good for me. I always listen to music too loud anyway. And yeah, your dad is right. It WILL wreck your hearing.
Second ... I am an insomniac who can be lulled to sleep by music ... but I prefer the playlists on my iPod over a cd or radio. My generic iPod buds hurt my ears and interrupted my zzzzz's. However, I can fall asleep with these comfy squishy buds in place! These are the first and only at this point buds that cause my delicate little ear canals NO pain!
Yay! And good night!
- New Buds but I really really dislike them.
     By AS28WVBBZ3G99 on 2008-04-15
I really really dislike these headphones. I can't wait to replace them. These are the "NEW" ones with the black and white cable.
I use them mostly when I am flying with minimal head movement. Yet, they ae constantly falling out of my ears. I spend more time positioning and re-positioning these obnoxious little buds, I could just spit.
I don't have huge ears like, say, Barack Obama. They are pretty normal. But these little devils spill out with every turn of my head. I hate them.
The sound is okay: not "WOW!" like you expect from Bose. Maybe it's because these buggers sit outside the ear canal cradled in the outer ear. I hate them.
- A Little Bose of Heaven
     By A25DS9CAGROP6K on 2007-12-02
Despite what has been said, the Bose In Ear headphones do not have too much bass but unfortunately not enough high end treble. Even with this shortcoming, I really like the overall sound of them. They are quite natural, and are very high on resolving the sound stage in your head. My major complaint is that I have to turn the volume way up to appreciate the quality sound. Not that it needs to be loud, but the earbuds are very inefficient. I have used both the large and medium tips, and have found them both to be satisfactory-no trouble staying in my ears at the Gym while exercising. I didn't know about the differences in cord colors (White and black indicates the new model) or connectors (the old style features a straight plug). Most of the lower prices you see offered are probably for the older models. (I received one of the older models). The straight plug looks bulky and out of place compared to the smooth line of the earplugs. The all black cord is just the right length, but is very stiff and tends to stick to itself and fabric too easily.
- New model - ok sound - they still fall out
     By A2XL8DUN7C0KGU on 2008-03-13
I bought these directly from the Bose store in Jan 2008 - so they are the "new" version. I use them almost exclusively in the gym (running, bending, lying exercises).
Firstly I tried all the plastic connections and found them all uncomfortable. They also would continuously fall out (every 30 seconds on a treadmill). Using the clip (provided) improves this but the problem remains.
I tend to listen to lectures/books from my ipod - the sound was adequate but no better than ear-phones costing half the price. With music the difference was more favourable but a long way from what I usually associate with Bose quality.
- One Year With These Earphones
     By A3HTLE2PD7FD5L on 2008-06-17
As a service to the wider community, I've decided to write a review for these earphones after having owned them for one year. Most of the reviews that I have read are several months old and were written by people only a short time after buying them. Truly, though, you can only get a good idea of a product after you have lived with a product through the ups and downs and after it has started to get worn. So here is a semi-long term review of the Bose TriPort IE's.
I bought the IE's to replace my Sony MDR-V300 monitors which were starting to get bent and worn after 3-4 years of fairly constant use. I liked the sound out of my monitors, but the over the ear design was not very comfortable (if you have large ears, you know what I'm talking about). I would use some earbuds for greater convenience when traveling, but I never found a pair that provided as good of sound as the monitors. When I saw the Bose earphones at Best Buy I thought I would give them a try, but I wanted to make sure. I did some product research and found that, as is often the case with these products, there are people who are in the Shure camp, and people who are in the Bose camp. The conclusion that I could ultimately draw from this brief research was that I would have to draw my own. If I liked them, great; if not, I would return them.
I would not consider myself an audio-snob; though yes, I do like Bose. I own a Wave Music System and I also had Bose component speakers in my dorm room at school. I was not disappointed with either of those products, so I expected to be pleased with the earphones as well. I decided to buy the IE's and give them a shot, though the price of entry was a tad high and is ultimately why I gave them 4 out of 5 stars. $99 is a lot for earphones, no matter how life-changing they may claim to be.
I started off listening to them on my 17" MacBook Pro which has a phenomenal audio port. The sound quality was miles away from the MDRs that I had been using previously. I was really impressed by how much bass that these little earphones could produce. I am a fan of BT and Tiesto and the sound reproduction for electronic music is fantastic. Many people online have talked about "burn-in" and I can confirm that experience, as well. These headphones do get better with time. I found that, as per the instructions manual, these headphones are best used with no EQ. The sound is balanced enough for my taste, though personal tastes do vary. I have found that using supplemental equalization tends to distort the sound unnecessarily.
Although I have never owned earphones that situate in the ear canal, I like the IEs because they do not. Some out there may know what I am talking about when I say "earphone itch." I found that my ears would become irritated with long use with standard Apple earbuds or similarly styled earphones. While the light resting design of the Bose is a nagging point for many, they perform exactly as expected for me. I use them for several hours a day at work with absolutely zero discomfort. I started using them with the "Medium" silicone tip but have since switched to the "Large" as I have found that it affords a snugger fit.
I never grow tired of hearing new things with these ear buds. Listening to acoustic or classical music is always a joy. Bose started off as a company by trying to accurately reproduce the "live music experience" in the home and that attention to detail is born out by these earphones. You can hear the hammers striking the piano strings, or the guitarist plucking the strings. The psychoacoustics--a Bose-ism, if you will--are just spectacular. As I said earlier, these earphones are probably among the best for listening to trance and electronic music.
I've read several reviews where people gripe about the IEs being unsuitable for gym use. Frankly speaking, I don't see the point of using $100 earphones at the gym. Why spend so much money on quality audio equipment only to get it gunked and sweaty? I will admit that on the rare occasions that I have flown while owning these headphones, I have needed to turn the volume up a tad more than I would like. They do not provide any sound isolation. If you spend most of your time in airports or on airplanes, these may not be the earphones for you.If, however, you spend most of your day at a desk or are looking for a quality alternative to bulky studio monitors for home listening, these earphones are well worth a look.
One year on, I am just as satisfied with these earphones as I was the day that I bought them. I look forward to taking them out of the case everyday; it's like having a home theater in my pocket. I have suffered no sort of adverse wear or tearing of the silicone tips and the cord has never once gotten a knot. The price is high, yes, but I believe that I have gotten exactly what I paid for.
- Price takes a * away...
     By A12XKCM5DZ1B7A on 2007-12-04
When I put this in my ear first time I was scared if I paid 100 (actually 70) for this. but after comparing back to back with other ear plug i realized this is really different. The problem is we are so used to the no bass voice of other ear phone we just cant imagine the clear sound.
overall sound level is lot lower than other ear plugs which could me a issue for some ppl but not for me.
A perfect investment when you have to listen to the music 8 hr/dayy at work.
lets see if it keep up the promises.
- A must have
     By A3VQ1FH3TPYXRY on 2007-12-31
I, like many other reviewers, have tried so many different types of earbuds. These are hands down the absolute best. They are extremely comfortable, stay put in my ears, do not hurt my ears at all (a problem I've had with other earbuds), and the sound is absolutely fantastic - true to the Bose tradename. I too have the Bose around the ear headphones, which I also adore for comfort and sound (the 139.00 ones), but I think the sound on these earbuds is slightly crisper. Enjoy! You won't be disappointed.
- Pathetic Build Quality
     By A26HC617GO9SQ9 on 2008-01-09
I have owned these headphones for about six months and use them exclusively
at my office. The problem I had with them was that the little metal part over the ear piece fell out for no apparent reason. When I called customer service for a replacement they told me it would cost 50$ which is half the price of a new pair. I would definitely not recommend getting these head phones. The sound quality is pretty good but for 100$ headphones the build quality leave much to be desired.Bose In-Ear HeadphonesBOSE(R) (R) In-Ear Stereo Headphones
- As close to perfect as I can find for 100 bucks and under...
     By AGXSHLSXTNGYU on 2008-02-04
OK, I am not rich, but I have tried most of the different earbuds for my iPod that cost less than 100 dollars: Sony Fontopia, Sennheiser, Smoking Buds, Shures, etc. These are different and I love them in a number of ways:
1. They are comfortable (but a little weird). The actual IN EAR earbuds were starting to chafe my ear canals and give me an unpleasant burning sensation. Not good. These Bose phones sit outside the ear canal, possibly similar to the old, lousy iPod phones, but they have a nice plastic tube that extends slightly into your ear to project the sound. They are very comfortable, although I strangely am using the Small sleeves after using the Large sleeves on all the other earbuds. They do take some getting used to, as they frequently FEEL like they are about to fall out, but when you check them to adjust, they are in pretty tightly.
2. They have excellent sound. I am not at all a sound expert, but the richness of the tones of Norah Jones using these phones almost moves me to tears. However... These phones do not blast sound, I had to turn up my iPod volume limit and in crowded areas, I need to pretty much crank up the sound to hear clearly. But, in a quieter area, these yield incredible sound.
3. These phones are NOT noise canceling. As the buds are not completely lodged into your eardrum, you can still hear sounds around you, making these a little safer for running, exercising, etc. In addition, you can actually hear yourself talk with these phones on, so you aren't constantly yelling at people because the only thing you can hear is your music.
4. The package came carefully packed with lots of goodies, which I appreciate. There is a really nice and useful zipper carrying case that exactly fits my iPod, emblazoned with the BOSE logo on the face. They include a rather handy little clip for attaching your cord to your shirt, so that your buds don't get yanked out of your ears if you bend too far in the wrong direction. There is also a small lanyard for attacking to the cords to keep them in place in the event of strenuous exercise. In short, lots of little things that Bose could easily have left out, but didn't.
All in all, I could not be happier with my new headphones. They are the perfect pair for me, and maybe you too!
- Don't Move
     By A3846XC1ECVG14 on 2008-02-19
Bose should be ashamed to put its name on this product! The design absolutely did not work for me regardless of which of the three foam tips I used. I couldn't walk to the kitchen without having them fall out of my ears. I can't even imagine going for a walk or using them while jogging, which is what I bought them for.
In addition, the Bose staff could not be friendlier, until you inform them that you're having a problem with one of their products. Then, you are the enemy and their objective is to get you off the line and out of their hair as rapidly as possible.
Finally, I made the collassal error of purchasing one of their vastly overpriced stereo systems a few years ago and the sound quality is so inferior to the FM radio that I have in my kitchen that I can't recall the last time I had it on. Anyone need an expensive paperweight?

- Get the RIGHT ones, and you'll LOVE them....Some Hints
     By A22V28FOW0KJW on 2008-02-21
There are so many different listings here for what look like the same product. If the picture doesn't show a black-and-white cord you shouldn't buy these particular ones (see below). I was almost scared away from purchasing these by all the reports of the tips falling off. Well, I just got mine, and that problem does not exist, and, well,.....THEY ARE FANTASTIC! The sound is amazing. The fidelity and sound quality from highs to lows are just exquisite. They are incredibly comfortable and probably safer for your ears due to their innovative ear-cup-placement. Using the lanyard, there is NO problem with them falling out when you're working out--and, frankly, they stay in fine without it for the most part. As the top review notes, THE KEY is getting the black-and-white cord, lanyard/clothing clip, and angled plug. The only ADDITIONAL HINT I might offer for making sure you're securing the right ones is that my box is labeled, "Bose in-ear headphones". I see no mention on the box or in the manual of "Tri-port". The Bose product code on the box is listed as "044435". Get the right ones, and I promise you won't be disappointed!
- Amazing Sound - A Little Too Much Bass, But Fixable. Amazing!
     By A15LJ6JVCXFRF2 on 2008-05-15
My favorite Sony headphones, which have been to many countries and beaches finally fell apart after four years. I have been looking at the Bose In-Ear Headphones for about a year and finally went for it after reading the reviews.
Initially I HATED these. The first afternoon I had them, I was going to return them. I hated how they sat in the ear, how the bass seemed overwhelming. I read the reviews again, thinking I had been hoodwinked. One of the reviews said give them a week. So I did.
If took me all of two days to realize these things are the same quality of product as all of my other Bose gear.
- First - Try all the different buds that come with it. You may find, as I did, your ears fit different sizes.
- Second - These are not "buds" like your Sony's, they don't fit INTO your ear, rather on the cusp. Once you realize this, and get the right fit, you realize that they are quite comfortable.
- Third - Mess with the EQ settings in iTunes or your iPod or whatever music player you use. Why? Because the bass in these earphones is very, very present. Once you get it right - amazing. Highs are so crisp, you think you are listening to a high-end stereo. Mids so present that you feel surrounded, and bass so heavy that your teeth rattle!
- Fourth - You may want to rip all of your music at a higher bitrate. Why? Because all of the sudden you are hearing notes and sounds that you have never imagined were in your music. I have found myself pulling up CD's that I had left for dead.
I have used these everyday while doing cardio (walking, eliptical and cycling) and they don't fall out. I also tested this by jumping around doing some head banging moves. I have been to the beach with them and the pool. They are built Bose tough. Also comes with a nifty case that will hold an iPod and your headphones.
Also, you can order (for free) from Bose's website additional buds in case you lose them. I did and they were shipped in about two days.
In my opinion, and I am very into music and the quality of sound, I would buy these again if they ever got destroyed or stolen.
My Sony's lasted 4 years, lets see if these can beat that.
- Amazing !
     By A2XAMWDS242OJR on 2007-11-29
After checkin so many options I decided to keep these. I must state how impressed I got when I first put them on. Wow ! Incredible ! I did listen to notes I couldn't before. This "toy" is brand new and I'm still getting used to it. It's much too different than others I've had. Still, I must say I'm not an expert but a true music lover. As I'm more into treble frequencies I won't give 5 stars to it. The bass hits hard on you ears and again I dare say it's more than just listening to your favorite hits, it's quite an experience. Thumbs up !
Comfortness is a must on these phones and the nice and big leather case might even hold your mp3/4 player.
Go check it out live somewhere before deciding amongst so many brands/models available.
- Excellent product

These earbuds are great.Unlike some other brands, these stay in the ear, they have nice rich sound. After hearing them, I turned around and bought a pair for my son. you won't be disappointed.
- AWESOME - almost...........
     By A3LJJ6GCCF4VBN on 2007-12-23
Based on all the reviews I read - I was hoping the V-MODAS would have more bass than the typical earbud. One review actually went so far as to say that some people will not like them since they have a little too much base. - Too Funny! - These buds are seriously lacking bass - just like almost all other earbud brands. They do fit nice, and workmanship and materials are good, but who cares what they look like when they sound like crap. I also bought a pair of shure ear buds which also had excellent reviews - these were actually worse than the V-modas. I then bought the Bose in-ear headphones. The Bose are awesome! I have about 6 different pair of over-the-ear headphones, and these are probably equal to my best over-the-ear headphones. the main issue with these is getting them to stay in your ear - I may have to resort to duct-tape, but I don't care, the Bose sound fantastic.
- FANTASTIC... I don't know another word!!!

I just received these headphones as a christmas gift and let me tell you... THEY ARE AMAZING!!!!! They are loud, they sound amazing, they pick up bass and treble sounds at an amazingly high quality, they cancel outside noises (cant wait to fly to europe with them) and they fit in your ears very well. The ear-fitting might deter some and I have a feeling the negative feedback came because people don't know how they are supposed to sit in your ears!!! Let me just note, I have my tregus pierced and it is the first time EVER that earphones haven't hurt my ears... I have been wearing them now for a good two hours now. They are awesome... I dont want to take them off!!
Hope this helps!
- Lasted only until warranty expired

These were OK while they lasted, though they did slip out of my ears pretty frequently while I was working out. After owning these for just a little over a year, the sound in one side vanished, leaving me with a basically useless set of headphones ( this happened just after the warranty expired ).
- major waste of money

These earbuds do have great sound, so I was stupid enough to buy a replacement when the first stopped working after a few months (no sound to ears). Again, they have worn out after about 8 months: sound just stopped going to the left side. I called customer service and was told that they should worn in strenuous activities, such as jogging, as this can damage the wires. I did not bang these and took care of them, so this does not make sense. (When can one wear earbuds??) Less of a problem but a nuisance is that the earbud replaceable caps fall off more easily than usual. Bose does have a system for sending replacements, as I guess this happens a lot, so that is not quite as serious. While Bose does produce great upper end headphones (I do like my noise canceling ones), this company is selling real cheap stuff at a mid-range price. Don't waste your money!
- Amazing Headphones Terrible Jack
     By A2D7DPD6YZR7JP on 2008-06-14
These headphones are amazing, i give them five stars but for this review they get one. I'm on my second pair and for the second time the wire around the headphone jack has deteriorated inside and i have no sound in the right ear unless i wiggle and pinch the wire. BOSE, redesign the headphone jack, this is the Achilles heel of your in ear headphones. It's outrageous to charge $99 for a pair of phones that have a clunky 1970's style headphone jack that deteriorates with normal everyday use.
- Great Product

The redesigned Bose Triport IE headphones are fantastic. They deliver deep, rich sound, often times with a lot of bass. I think there's a little bit too much bass, but it's not a big issue. They're very comfortable, and you don't need to jam them in the ear canal to get powerful sound. Between the three tip sizes it shouldn't be an issue to get a size that fits everyone. Yes, they're pricey but if you can spare the money they're more than worth it.
Just to clarify, they are NOT noise cancelling. They do block out some of the sound due to their shape / design and quality of sound, but the headphones do not specifically noise cancel.
- What a disappointment

Up until now the name Bose stood for outstanding sound quality, a preception that, I hate to say, has been shattered with the purchase of these ear-bud headphones. For $100 is quite a lot for a pair of ear-buds, and quite frankly, I feel a bit cheated. From the reviews I knew I was taking a risk with regards to fit. With the biggest silicone piece they fit me fine. However the sound is terrible. Although they have a decent amount of bass, they totally lack the middle and higher ranges, making the music very unbalance and sound like it comes out of a cardboard box. It is unlikely that I will ever by another Bose product again.
