Bed time in 10 minutes! By A3212D3F4AU2J on 2004-11-29
OK, so it takes a video, and instructor, a selection of multiple blankets to find one that works properly just to swaddle my son which he can wriggle out of in 5 minutes. I got the swaddleme as a gift and man! I can get him to sleep in 10 minutes now. The other thing I like about it is it's only one layer of blanket, not the inevitable 3 layers that swaddling the old fashioned way ends up being. He used to get very over heated. The only issue I have with these is that they only made them for newborns until very recently, and finding the large ones for 4-7 month olds are impossible. My son has just about outgrown these but hasn't quite outgrown swaddling so I'm searching endlessly for some place that carries the large ones.
fantastic swaddler - makes for a peaceful night's sleep By AG78NCYYTD3S1 on 2005-07-28
We began using the SwaddleMe wrap the day our son came home from the hospital. We have been so thrilled with this product, that we bought the lighter weight cottons ones for the summer and into the fall. Our son has been sleeping soundly through the night (8 hours) since he was 6 weeks old, and I credit that to the tight swaddle this wrap provides. Babies are less likely to wake up if they are snuggly wrapped and can't "startle" themselves with loose hands and legs. I trust this company so much, that I've gone ahead and ordered the Beddie Bye blankets for when he outgrows the SwaddleMe wraps. The wraps wash very well, just one word of caution - before putting the wrap in the washing machine, velcro it closed so that the velcro can't attach itself to other clothes in the washer or dryer. I forgot one time and managed to damage a knit outfit because the velcro created a bunch of pulls on it.
I HIGHLY recommend this product!
Nice blanket, but... By A2KK9JWB7W9TNC on 2005-11-04
When preparing to have our first child I bought one of each kind of swaddle, not knowing what we would like the best. We've also tried the standard 'receiving' blanket and some nice stretchy ones. This one we liked the least. My baby wiggles a lot when settling for sleep and every time she moved she would hear the velcro coming apart a little and it would bother her. She had a very hard time falling asleep in it. The Miracle blanket works best for her because it does a better job at keeping her arms down than others and doesn't have noisy velcro on it. I've also tried the sleep sacks. As she's getting more and more arm control I'm finding that she is slowly liking the "Halo Sleep Sack" better, but at night she still needs her arms confined. I also like the sleep sack idea because it is only one layer of blanket (where this SwaddleMe is two in the front when closed. The other thing I didn't like about the SwaddleMe or the Miracle Blanket is that with my baby's wiggling she invariably ends up with a gap between the feet sack and the top part and since we tend to use t-shirts rather than onsies her belly gets exposed and cold. So, I wouldn't recommend this for an active, noise sensitive baby.
Try something else... By A3ALQ3WD9HJKUZ on 2005-12-30
For a young infant who isn't active, the SwaddleMe is a nice alternative to traditional receiving blankets. However, if you have a wiggler, this item isn't going to help. Our baby lasted in this swaddler for maybe three weeks until he figured out how to kick out of it. Once he got his legs free, he'd wiggle around until the material was bunched up around his neck--not a very comforting sight. So, we bought "The Amazing Miracle Blanket." It was truly amazing--it's practically impossible for a young infant to even loosen the material let alone get out of it. Baby started sleeping in the Miracle Blanket at 8 weeks and immediately was down for 7 to 8 hours at a stretch. We finally had to put it up when, at 5 months, he no longer needed, or wanted, to be swaddled. It's $29.99, but worth every penny. They have a website--www.miracleblanket.com. Also, the SwaddleMe uses velcro, which is ridiculously loud when you're trying to quietly change baby in the middle of the night.

- A Must Have for Baby and Parent!!!!!!!!!
     By A6MRE28FYPV1U on 2004-12-03
My wife and I just recently had our first baby and like so many of you out there, wanted the best for our son and was suckered into buying every product known to man. Ironically, we did not buy the Swaddle Me wrap because I thought it looked silly and would be useless, I mean how many babies need swaddling anyway? This was the "first time dad" stupidity and lack of experience talking.
Luckily, friends bought this for us and told us that we would soon learn that this would become our bestfriend and lifesaver. Boy were they mindreaders! A blanket is a joke to swaddle a newborn in. Our son broke free almost instantly. I swear only a skilled nurse can wrap them as tight as they needed to be. I thought they were taught this trick to fool us into thinking that we all had such quiet babies so that you would leave the hospital as quick as possible, before you learned otherwise!
One night I suggested that we try that "wrap thing" to see if it would work, a last ditch effort I thought. Holy Cow! This wrap is amazing!!!!! Yes your child will look like a human PEZ but hey, who cares as long as their happy!
Our son now sleeps peacefully through the night and I am buying a larger size (4-6 months)for him since he is growing out of the newborn size. Buy it and you will sleep like you did before you had your baby, I promise!!!!!!!!!
- Wish I had bought it sooner!

We love the "swaddle me" blanket. I read so much about swaddling and how it is supposed to calm your baby, but I could never get my "swaddles" to stay. Our 5-week old son would always wiggle out of our "baby burritos", so we eventually gave up on tryng them, even with the blankets we took home from the hospital. Then, I saw the Swaddle Me and decided to give it a try.
The first night, he slept for over 7 hous straight! I had to run to his room every so often to make sure he was ok because I didn't hear a peep out of him. Since then, he's been sleeping through the night almost every night. This product is well worth the money -- I plan on buying one for some friends that are expecting this year!
- The best gift I received!!
     By A3EDHE8Z55AXL3 on 2005-05-01
I cannot say enough about this blanket!! My daughter is 2 months old now and has been sleeping through the night since she was 6 weeks and I know it is because of her "bedtime suit" as we call it. There have been a few nights she's wiggled herself out of it and is awake instantly but I just put her back in and she's sleeping again. It is wonderful and I would recommend it to anyone!!
- worth putting on your registry
     By A18OJ0ERS7S2J1 on 2005-08-22
I absolutely love the idea of making swaddling easy for new parents! Even though I am experienced in swaddling with a regular blanket, this one is definitely faster and easier. The velcros are larger and stronger than the competitor's The First Years Swaddler, and the SwaddleMe is designed better.
The only problem we had was... our daughter did not like being swaddled! We tried leaving her arms out [otherwise she'd scream and wiggle until she undoes the velcro], but it didn't work well.
Now that the SwaddleMe comes in two sizes, in fleece, flannel and cotton and a number of colors, I'd say it's worth registering for. If your baby likes being wrapped you can find the SwaddleMe wrap that's right for you and it will make your life a little easier.
- Swaddling is the best but this blanket is not
     By A1CXAF6EO63SBZ on 2005-09-18
I am a professional nanny of about 10 years and I have come to view swaddling as one of the best baby care tricks you can ever use. I have NEVER dealt with a baby that did not sleep better when swaddled. There have been many babies who strongly fought the swaddling process if they were not used to it but after a few times it worked like a charm to keep them alseep. I have cared for dozens of babies including several sets of twins and triplets and truly, I could not have survived if I could not swaddle. Many parents told me that their baby did not like to be swaddled because they would always get out of the blanket within a few minutes. I always tell them that just because the baby gets out does not mean that they dont like it. You just have to find the right products to help keep the baby wrapped up tight. I have found that the Swaddle me does not do the job very well for most babies, but the Miracle Blanket really does! I love the miracle blanket, I have only found one baby who could get himself out of it and he usually only removed one arm so it did not wake him up. It is pricey but very very worth it! The Miracle Blanket will change the way your baby sleeps for the better so it is worth the money. The Swaddle me just cant get the job done, or at least not as well so I never recommend it to any parent.
- Best Product Ever
     By A35NF3EDY3FY36 on 2005-03-10
BUY This - at least two - to get you through the first few weeks - we found it impossible to swaddle the baby using receiving blankets - and swaddling really calms a crying baby. Plus, this is such a cut product - really well made and so soft - go for the white or off white colors - they are easier to wash.
- Stops crying, helps sleep longer
     By A253BVBQO6TA1R on 2005-06-25
My wife and I just got this for our 3 week old ~20in 10lb daughter. Works great. If you haven't read "Happiest Baby on the Block" you may be missing out on why swaddling is so important for your state of mind and helping your baby (as well as other great techniques to stop fussiness!).
We bought both the flannel and the fleece Swaddleme. The flannel doesn't stretch as much so it is better at staying tight with the size she is now. The fleece stretches a lot, so we are saving that for when she gets bigger (or using an Ace bandage on top of it).
A suggestion to those that are waiting for your baby to grow into this, or have all these receiving blankets that are too small to swabble your baby in (arms still get free). I found that by taking an Ace bandage (stretch material that is used to wrap a sprained ankle or hurt knee) and cutting it to a length that would wrap around the baby once and tuck into itself to stay secure is an excellent "belt" to hold the blanket tight at night or during fussy periods. I wrap it around the blanket and only around her arms. IMPORTANT: all I do to secure the Ace bandage is tuck it back into itself, I don't use any clips or pins so they can't accidently come off and become a hazard.
- I'm so glad I bought this!
     By A1JXOKQFPU4EKJ on 2005-09-28
I had this on my registry because I had seen it on other people's lists of baby things to get. I didn't get it, so I used a gift certificate to buy it. I am so glad! I cannot do the whole swaddling thing so that it stays wrapped up and my newborn loves to be all wrapped up. This blanket makes it so easy and it stays in place with velcro. The bottom flap comes down so you can change the diaper without unwrapping baby's arms, which is really nice. She sleeps much longer without startling when she is wrapped in this blanket and doesn't get too hot. I'm now going to give this as a baby gift to everyone I know who's expecting.
- Swaddling for Dummies
     By A3LUWAT93W6BTO on 2005-12-05
Swaddling truly helps our little girl relax and sleep, but wrestling her into a blanket was hit-or-miss for me - especially in a state of sleep deprivation. This product took the fumbling out of the whole process. Three or four moves and instant baby burrito!
- Colic Lifesaver
     By A2U2EJBO3TTRPX on 2004-12-27
My baby is colicy and needs to be swaddled to sleep. MY husband and I could not swaddle her with a blanket without her getting out of it. We saw the swaddleme at babiesrus and decided the ten dollars was worth it if she worked. It has she spends most of her day in it and content. This is a must have for new parents
- Swaddle or free
     By A2YA94FMM7V8DR on 2004-12-27
This was a wonderful invention for our baby. She is able to sleep with out startling herself now and she can stay warm. We ended up purchasing an extra SwaddleMe to have on hand for when one is in the wash.
Our baby was born with marks on her hands from sucking them in the womb. In this blanket we secure her quickly and she can wiggle her hands free if she needs to. Most swaddle blankets do not allow her to have her hands free. We are able to swaddle her with her hands down or we can loosen it up so she can get just her hands free. In other swaddle blankets (Including the miracle blanket), she becomes frustrated because she can not break free and that ends up waking her.
We have also started using this in the car seat so we do not have to bundle her in a coat which saves time. We also add a blanket over her to add extra warmth.
I only gave this 4 stars because of the material used as it is not useful in the summer weather and because my baby is still growing into it. It is only rated for 8- 14 pounds and my baby was just over 6 pounds when we first started using it. If the velcro was larger it would have been more secure for us in the beginning; however we managed to hold it closed most of the time.
- LOVE IT!!!
     By AFT0X1V9VXKUJ on 2005-05-07
I can not express how happy my husband and I are with these blankets! Being a 1st time mom I knew I wanted to swaddle my baby, so I thought I would give these a try! They are VERY easy to use, and our baby slept through the night at 6 weeks!! I know it is because of these blankets, because if she does happen to get a hand out, she wakes up, if she stays swaddled she will sleep 8 hours straight! I would recommend these to every parent. The only downside is the fleece ones are really warm, so you have to dress your baby in something light at night, the knit ones are lighter, BUT the material stretches easily making it easier for the baby to get her hands out. We also plan to swaddle our baby as long as possible, and at 2 months she is out growing the small size, and Babies R Us does not carry the large size, so you have to search for them on-line through other stores!
- it could work but not full proof
     By A1MORR5LYT0U95 on 2005-06-01
My 10 lb baby was strong enough to get out of the swaddler. it needs to be multiple sizes and it would help if the adjustable wrap was more adjustable. His arms got free often but if the arms wrap came around more and the velcro was stronger i think it would've worked better. So it could work just not for my baby.
- Great for newborns
     By AI4W1396PKM11 on 2005-06-01
This is a must have for newborns. When my son was too small for it, I swaddled him first in a thin blanket then put him in the SwaddleMe. When he was bigger, this wrap was great. As he got stronger he could break out of it and that became a problem as he wanted to be swaddled until three months of age. But this is great for smaller babies. The only reason it gets four stars is I have an older model that has stronger velcro and it seemed to stay together better. The new ones have a "quieter" velcro that doesn't seem as strong.
- Mother of Twins
     By AR7LSPVGAPJ40 on 2005-06-03
My husband and I love the SwaddleMe blanket. Our girls will be 6 months old in a week and still loved to be swaddled. We have found the large size. It is great. We don't swaddle their arms anymore, just around their tummies. Since we moved to the large size a week ago, they have slept for 8-10 hours a night.
I too wish the velcro was stonger. Thank goodness they make the larger size.
- Better than recieving blankets
     By A260DOQWSEWFIE on 2005-03-21
We have 2 of these! When we used a banket to swaddle our baby, he was loose in no time. This swaddle blanket is great and keeps him all tucked in like a little burrito. Just be sure to velcro it up before washing so it doesn't stick to your baby's good clothes.
- Not for All Babies
     By A1EQI039XH7R3D on 2005-04-22
My husband & I watched "The Happiest Baby on the Block" which encourages mothers to swaddle. I bought this product before my baby arrived and to my suprise she hates being swaddled and will do whatever she can to get loose. I found the velcro on this product to be too weak to keep her wrapped up. I would suggest trying to swaddle your infant in regular baby blankets before buying this product which has only one use and if your baby is like mine you might not actually be able to use it. I'm sure it is great for some infants, but I'd experiment with swaddling your baby before making the purchase.
- WOW! I WISH I THOUGHT OF IT!
     By A2PCA9W8ZT46U2 on 2005-04-27
I LOVE THIS PRODUCT! IT IS SO MUCH EASIER TO USE THAN THE OLD FASHIONED WAY OF SWADDLING-IT DOESNT COME APART! I HAVE A 4 WEEK OLD PREEMIE AND BOUGHT BOTH COTTON AND FLEECE WRAPS-SHE LOVES THEM AND SLEEPS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE OLD WAY!!!! I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TO EVERY NEW MOM! ENJOY!
- THIS SAVED MY LIFE
     By A1BPENP6NKHV9S on 2005-06-17
This is a small price to pay to cure a million dollar problem! For WEEKS I could NOT get my baby to sleep during the day. She is 9 weeks old. FINALLY I discovered what was wrong. She has a very strong starling reflex which does not allow her to get to sleep or stay asleep long enough to get adequate rest. She would cry ALL DAY LONG. I thought she had colic. After my husband bought this she has been the happiest, most rested baby on the block. Please spread the word.
- A must-have
     By A29W85T2Q6AYCP on 2005-07-01
Our little one slept through the night at seven weeks thanks to the SwaddleMe. We can change her diaper without unwrapping her arms, helping her stay relaxed and sleepy in the evenings. The SwaddleMe wraps also wash very well.
- Babies Love A Straight Jacket!
     By A3N5FK8Z1X8WCW on 2005-09-06
My 12 week old daughter is all over the place when it's time to sleep and has been since day 1. For some reason, she loves to be swaddled and we have been swaddling her since she was a week or so old. The Swaddler is great because you don't have to make a trifold out of a blanket and have them wriggle their way out of it after a few minutes. The velcro stays put and she stays inside tight and neat like a baby burrito and falls RIGHT to sleep in minutes - if she's really tired, SECONDS! I was unable to use the newborn size Swaddler right away because she was too small. The First Years makes a two pack of swaddling blankets which fit a 7 lb. baby perfectly. Also, make sure you don't use a fleece Swaddler if it's too warm - use the cotton one. I've read that baby overheating can lead to SIDS. If your baby is active and won't settle down, SWADDLE HER!! Babies love it!
- nice idea but doesn't work
     By AYCD3TRM6L5KS on 2005-11-02
I think the idea is great, but it didn't work with my son.
He is too strong for this and was able to get out of the swaddle me practically from birth. Miracle blanket works much better
- Velcro not sticking issues
     By A1TBSES91O1V7M on 2006-05-03
I don't have one of these but I am buying 4 of them for baby shower gifts. In reading the reviews there was mention of the velcro not sticking after a while. If you take a needle and pick the lint off the one side of the velcro that is the scratchier side it should work again. This will work for any velcro closer.
- A New Mom Must-have!
     By A38WEAJCK9BFP on 2006-05-10
We used the swaddle me on our first baby and have found it invaluable for our new twins. If you are one of those people who can never get the receiving blanket to stay on, then this is for you. We love the improvements they have made to add tabs that lock down for washing so you don't end up with a big daisy chain of velcro garments. The slot for a satefy strap is also nice, you can put the warp in a swing or bouncy, put the straps through it and then insert the baby.
The only down side we have found is apparent deisgn or manufacturing variances between the different fabrics. The gingham flannel wraps are smaller than the fleece ones and our babies grew out of them in a week. The other stretchy cotton ones are a little bigger than the fleece. This makes them hard to keep on until the baby gets a little bigger. We have had the most luck with the fleece ones.
- Swaddling simplified
     By A12C0UER29529W on 2005-04-24
This wrap really does make it easier to swaddle your baby - moreover, it makes it harder for the swaddling to come undone, saving you time and effort. At such a reasonable price, it's worth getting two so you'll always have a clean one on hand.
