THIS CD INCLUDES A FREE RINGTONE AND MOBILE PHONE WALLPAPER (please see insert for details) The Superstar Rappers Third Album Includes Production from Dr. Dre, Eminem and Timbaland, and more.

CURTIS (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope), features guest appearances by Eminem, Timbaland, Akon, Justin Timberlake, Mary J. Blige, Robin Thicke, and Nicole Scherzinger from the Pussycat Dolls.

50 has 2 HOT tracks leading up to the release of Curtis! Both have taken the radio airwaves by storm: "AYO TECHNOLOGY" featuring JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE and TIMBALAND - produced by TIMBALAND, and "I GET MONEY!" Curtis continues 50 Cent's phenomenal rise from the mean streets. His official debut album, 2003's Get Rich Or Die Tryin.., sold 872,000 units in the first four days of its release, making it the fastest-selling debut disc in the SoundScan era (since 1991). The album was the biggest seller of 2003 and is currently ten times platinum worldwide. Later that year, The New Breed, a DVD with a bonus CD including new songs, charted #2 Pop and #1 R&B/Hip-Hop. His second album, 2005's The Massacre, was the second biggest-selling album of the year and is now seven times platinum worldwide. Since he first dropped his bombs on the music world, 50 has earned 11 Grammy nominations, from Best New Artist to Best Rap Album for each of his first two efforts. Attesting to his worldwide popularity, Get Rich Or Die Tryin' hit #2 in the U.K. and #1 in Australia while The Massacre went #1 in both those countries, #2 in Sweden, and is the biggest-selling rap album in India, where it has been certified double platinum, selling more than 2,000,000 copies. Back in the U.S., 50 has scored three singles claiming the #1 spot across the charts -- R&B/Hip-hop, Rap, and Pop: "In Da Club," "Candy Shop," and "21 Questions" (featuring Nate Dogg). Three more went Top 3 across the board: "P.I.M.P," "Just A Lil Bit," and "Disco Inferno." Yet another four were Rap Top 10s: "Wanksta," "Outta Control (Remix)," "Window Shopper," and "Best Friend." Four of the above have been certified digital gold: "In Da Club," "Candy Shop," "P.I.M.P," and "Disco Inferno." From music to movies, video games to books, a clothing line to footwear, 50 has taken street culture by storm. But as Curtis proves, and as he says in ..Straight to the Bank,.. 50 Cent wants even more.

If you believe everything you hear, Curtis is 50 Cent's bid to be hip-hop king--the rumor goes that he issued it the same day Kanye West released his Graduation CD to spawn a sales race and thus, a) establish superiority, or b) retire with his head hung low. But here's what might not have occurred to 50: Given enough talent and a fully loaded speed-dial--the kind that can raise Timbaland, Akon, Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, and Eminem faster than the sickest rapper can stitch together a verse--it's possible for two diabolically good discs to drop the same day. Forgetting the Kanye competition for a moment, Curtis might come up short in a race with its creator's other albums--the rawness and reach of Get Rich Or Die Tryin' isn't here. But certain cultural moments (who would refute that the release Get Rich… was one?) can't be replicated, and what Curtis lacks in credible grit, it more than makes up for in finesse. Never let it be said that you can't be fierce and flow at the same time: "I Get Money" glides back to the old school in sound--there's a house party happening behind this track--but sends out a modern message, "I'll Still Kill," with Akon, underscores 50's continued thug-hood with a lethal hook, and "Follow My Lead," with the smoothie Robin Thicke, is a finger-popper worth 100 plays for its sly mood alone. May the best rapper, if there is one, keep rapping. --Tammy La Gorce MPN: 602517334045 - UPC: 602517334045

  • Damn 50....Why

    By AP0W12MAAX9P on 2007-09-11
It was extremely hard form me to write this review here for 50's album. I used to be a huge fan of Shady/Aftermath and the music they put out, so when 50 Cent emerged on the scene in 2003 (the Shady/Aftermath 50, not the underground 50) I bought into all the hype. I thought "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" was an amazing debut(mainstream) album . Lyrically he wasnt even close to the 3 King's (Talib, Jayz,Nas) but he at least had songs that tried to talk about something.. After the success of his first album "Mainstream 50 Cent" took over...everything. From making Childrens books and Video Games, to Movies and Clothing Lines.. I have no problem with a man making money, but it seems the more money he has made, the progressively worse his music has become. This latest album has really turned me off to the Shady/Aftermath /Interscope . No longer will I buy albums from their aritst prior listening to it. Now to the Album..

The production on this album far exceeds "The Massacre" the beats are pretty decent, with AYO Technology being the most complex and easy to vibe to. Unfortunately thats about the only positive thing I can say about this album. The Lyrics are simple horrendous, what can only be described as nursery rhymes.. with this album released I'm seriously waiting on 50 cent to make a song about "The Itsey Bitsey Spider" or something along that nature. I'm sure this album will be commercially successful, 50 Cent is a media Juggernaut(Sold over 2 Million copies of the Massacre in INDIA alone) and it would only be by a miracle that Kanye West would even come close to outselling him. His primary audience suburban "White America" will by this album in the boatloads..My question is why? What happened to socially conscious rap/hip hop being mainstream. The closest thing we have to that today is Kanye,Talib, Common really.. And people don't support that hardly either. I keep hearing people say "Hip Hop is dead man" Well if thats true it's the people that support this type of music and image that have killed it. If it dies eventually, like a lot of people think it will, then you all pulled a Caesar(Julius Caesar). I SAY ASK MORE FROM THIS RAPPER HE CAN DO FAR BETTER THEN THIS!

I have been listening to 50 every since he was making music with Jam master jay. All of his underground stuff and the first solo album are dope. The third solo effort by 50 cent is one of the worst albums I have ever heard. The lyrics and subject matter are extremely repetitive as you listen to the album. All he raps about are ferarris, how much money he has, fantasy gangsta rhymes, and more money. Listening to this album made me feel like I ate a really big bag of stale potatoe chips and washed it down with a 2 liter of old, flat pop. Along with the repetitive lyrics, the beats and hooks are very boring/annoying. While Kanye's album is no masterpiece, albums like this one make it sound a hell of a lot better than it really is. Avoid buying this frisbee at all costs.

  • Album cover says it all.......

    By A2MGZRRQT1D28O on 2007-09-12
He was thinking, "D**n, Game ruined my career." When those two broke off from each other, The Game annihilated 50 on his mixtapes. He made a lot of people open their eyes to what 50 had become......a gimmick. Don't get me wrong, "Get Rich or Die Tryin" is a certified classic. But like Game says, "50 got rich and stopped tryin" and it really shows on this album. I'm glad I heard it before even thinking about buying it, otherwise this review would've been a lot uglier. It goes to show.....when you build your career on beefing with people (50 vs Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Jadakiss, etc), sooner or later somebody is gonna take you out. Funny, 50 has become the exact sort of artist that he used to make fun of Ja Rule being (singing on hooks, wannabe love songs, pop hits, etc). I guess what goes around comes around......

  • Disappointing - Overall pathetic album.

I'm sorry 50. I love your radio show and most of your unreleased songs and mixtapes. GRODT is one of my favorite hip hop cd's ever. Please don't think I'm a hater. This cd, is absolutely trash, garbage. I really can't remember the last time I listened to a new cd and felt like I was robbed.. and I have actually BEEN ROBBED before.

No doubt there are a few good tracks on here, but overall, we get the point. You don't care too much anymore about creative or interesting lyrics. You go by your formula of killing, selling drugs, one nighters, making money, and repeat 17x.

Your song 'all of me' has mary signing a sick hook but your verses don't revolve around giving all of yourself or a girl giving all of herself to you. Most of it is junk.

Your song 'fully loaded clip' isn't really about a clip.

Your love song with robin thicke isn't really about love either.

And your song 'man down' is half-censored. Really what's the point of even releasing that on a cd with parental advisory sticker?

It wasn't too long ago that you were calling people out on wax for being sensitive and all about love, singing love songs and ballads. Well not only have you completely done a 180 on that but now you're even making young buck sing hooks like on 'Fire'?

This cd is sorry, and not only do I feel sorry for myself for sitting through this cd enough times to realize how it will never grow on me, but I feel sorry for all the little kids giving this cd 5 stars and not realizing how your business model is to find a formula that works and repeat, instead of offering the world a piece of creativity like we know you're capable of. You have enough money, you can buy everything I own x1000, and I live a very happy life. Please go back to just making hot ish and don't worry about beating kanye on opening day, which you're not even coming close to because of the complete wackness which is 'Curtis'.

  • Good, A Bit Bland

    By A3PMEJAYKF3VUC on 2007-09-11
"Curtis" is an average cd. My main problem with the cd is that the songs sound very similar, from subject matter to production, so nothing really jumps out except "Ayo Technology" which features Timbaland and Justin Timberlake and "I Get Money." But, besides that problem, this is a good cd for this genre.

Stand-out tracks was the rather hip-hop/pop "Ayo Technology" that is really fun and creative, something new for 50 Cent that does well for him because it shows his diversity and willingness to play with his own style. "I Get Money" is another good song, sort of an anthem. "Follow My Lead" features Robin Thicke and stands out from the bunch because it's very laid back, relaxed, puts aside the subject of the first few tracks where 50 Cent seems determined to uphold his street cred and tries a bit hard. This is more of a hip-hop ballad, relaxes, a nice groove. "Amusement Park" is another stand-out track that reminds me of "Candy Shop" in it's playful/sex theme and the lyrics match the fun/flirty tone. "Touch the Sky" ends the album on a creative note, serving as a final statement from 50.

Lyrical wise, 50 Cent is at the top of his game, delivering lyrics that deliver a punch, that can go from being hardcore to playful and light. And best, unlike some hip-hop artists, he manages to make sense with his lyrics and you can tell they aren't just thrown together or mashed together to rhyme. As stated before, the only thing that held this release from being a real stand-out hit is the production. So many of the songs have a similar sound that a lot of them if listened to by themselves at different occasions, sound good and creative. If listened to in sequence, songs get lost, a couple sound the same since they deal with similar subjects or take on the same tone. Still, this cd isn't bad and is at least average and you should check it out.

I simply do not have the time, energy or interest to write a detailed review about this walking-cesspool's CD. I will only say this: he is the epitome of all that is wrong with this country!

  • 50 Has Lost His Talent!!!
    By A1NHQSAXA13L3 on 2007-09-11
This album is seriously horrible. i mean this is worse than "The Massacre". "Get rich of die tryin'" was an awesome album but ever since then 50 cent has been on a downward spiral. honestly this album isn't good at all. 50 cent isn't a good lyricist and it shows. and he may have went out of his way to get a bunch of well known producers on this album as opposed to not having so many in the past but it doesn't help.

over all there is probably 2 good tracks on this album. its certainly not worth buying and i say that getting it for free is the only way its worth a listening to. peace.

  • "Cur-tis" is Worth-less
    By A2VUZ4YBPVMRBS on 2007-09-11
I used to be a 50 fan when he dropped his first CD but with each following CD, I've gotten to be less and less of one. "Curtis" is definitely his worst release yet. Maybe I expected too much? I thought "Wow, him and Kanye are dropping their CDs on the same day! That'll be hot..." but no, this CD is was a complete let down. I don't think Kanye's "Graduation" is the greatest CD, but it is most definitely better than this one.

I must admit I am pretty disappointed by this CD not only because it's bad, and as another reviewer said, it's the same "I'm rich and your not....blah, blah, blah.... My money....girls....cars... More of My Money...did I mention I have money?....I'll kill someone (by beating them with my money and running over them in my Ferrari)..." but because if 50 Cent really thinks he's that good, he shouldn't have to name drop Biggie and Tupac like he does. In his one song "Fire" he states: "You can hate this but face it B.I.G. and Tupac just ain't around..." Ok, that's an unfortunate truth as they've dropped single verses that were hotter than complete 50 CDs. So basically we're supposed to think 50's hot because they're dead? I think not, and with this release he proved it. While I appreciate the fact that he respects them, did he have to abuse it while making them the hook of "Touch The Sky"? Really? Did he seriously have to use Biggie and Pac's name just to get people to nod their heads to that track?

Another thing is that I just can't get over how repetitive this album is. Almost to the point where its annoying. I'm sorry, I refuse to believe that talent is rapping about your money and your Ferrari in every song no matter how much you switch the beats up.

50's going to have to release something to redeem himself after this one. To anyone who truly believes this album is hot, I feel for you. 5 stars are for albums like "Ready to Die", "Illmatic" "Lifestylez Ov Da Poor and Dangerous", etc; or even 50's "Get Rich Or Die Tryin" for that matter. This album for sure isn't worth 5 stars.

Maybe he knows this and that's why the cover of this CD is him with his head in his hands thinking "Why the **** did I release this album?!?!"

  • 50 Laughs Straight to the Bank, the Rest Just Laugh
    By A1LHAXBM5GBJS2 on 2007-09-12
To the hip-hop purists: remember back in the late nineties when one of your buddies slipped you a mix tape featuring a rapper who mixed wit (How to Rob) with grit (Heat) and filled the void left by the deaths Biggie and Pac?

To the fourteen year old white girls: Remember when the really buff guy that the uber-cute Eminem found who thankfully always walked around without his shirt (except for when he wore his bulletproof vest, but that just upped the bad boy quota), who some was always played in the club, and by club I mean the middle school dance?

And there are the two careers of 50 Cent and it is almost appropriate to write separate reviews for the two different groups of music listeners. But I won't because I'm lazy. But for the rap purists they probably have already given up on 50 after openly courting the suburban females on The Massacre. But 50 was quick to learn just how fickle the teenage girl is (remember O-Town? no? um, never mind) when the soundtrack to Get Rich or Die Trying barely sold a million copies after his first two major label album sold thirteen million combined. And it did not help that Lily Allen was able to take the unlistenable Window Shopper and flip into something extremely catchy.

50, knowing he could never court back the hip-hop purist, completes his sell out on Curtis by bringing in the likes of Justin Timberlake (Ayo Technology), the chick from the Pussycat Dolls (who adds her vocal scratches Fire), and what album these days wouldn't be complete without Akon. But it is laughable heard a dude that looks like Starvin Marvin sing about gang warfare on I Still Kill.

And 50 is quick to readily admit he's has sold out and flaunt it on songs like I Get Money and Straight to the Bank. The two songs are head scratches apposed to head noders. I Get Money for some reason features 50 chanting the cheesy Hip Hop Hooray hook. But when Naughty by Nature does it is cheesy good, when 50 does it is cheesy bad. Then Straight to the Bank features an annoying "ha, ha, ha, ha" chorus, courtesy of the always annoying Tony Yayo, where you have to ask how could anyone think that was a good idea.

Curtis actually starts of with an actual classic 50 sound with My Gun Go Off and gets his gangsta on over a treacherous beat. But that quickly ends as the rest of the album is a muddled mess which is possibly thanks to having seventeen different producers listed for seventeen different tracks. Mary J. Blige brings some class to All of Me but it is just way to late to help the train wreck of an album.

And 50 shows traits of someone trying to grasp onto the spotlight by just recycling past hits. Follow My Lead might as well be the 22nd Question but switched out Nate Dogg with the dude from Growing Pains' kid (a complete downgrade). And I will let you all discuss amongst yourself what the worse metaphor for sex is: Candy Shop or Amusement Park. What is the cheesy metaphor for the next album, a movie theater, cruise ship, state fair? Then Fully Loaded Clip tries to update How to Rob but without the underlining humor.

Even though the battle has been hyped for a month, it is a foregone conclusion that Kanye West will be the chart champ next week. 50 Cent's real competition will be with Kenny Chesney for second. And don't count out the High School Musical 2 Soundtrack pushing 50 down to fourth.

  • Oh my God,?

What the hell happened with this project? Absolutely the worst album I have heard since, well the Massacre, 50 what happened, Im not a fan of u, but I did respect u, but dam, I wasted 10 bucks on this thing, I am a very unsatisfied customer.

  • Hater?? Me? Of course!
    By ADH5E2OE07PAQ on 2007-09-14
I hate wack albums. I hate wack rappers. I hate bubble gum b*tch beats. I hate 50& Gunit. He11, Haterade is my favorite drink. So I wear the haters title proudly. Anyway, since Get Rich, he hasn't been a least bit lyrical or original since. The beat's on this album is ok. You can bang this out in your whip. But if your looking for some ill lyrics and something other than his usual gun totin'. Then look elsewhere. There's only like three half decent tracks on this. But nothing memorable to me. I won't say cop Kanye's album, cause that wasn't much better to me at all. After taking a long break from all things hip hop. This is what I come back to? I'm starting to wish I stayed gone. And shame on me for helpin' this go platinum.

  • Disappointing

Nothing new: Fiddy is still a killer, still wants to shoot you, but now he brings in all his famous friends and the CD still sucks. This album is so bad you'd have thought Tony Yayo was the artist. Compare this to Game's last album and you will see what Fiddy once was.

  • most WACK

album of the year, if you wanna listen to a rapper with no talent at all buy this.

  • Nursery Rhymes is this is what 50 has become?
    By A2U2PQDO08IJ5F on 2007-09-12
The only rapper to do nursery rhymes and do it well is Nelly.
I enjoyed 50's first cd and ran to buy the second when it debuted,I should have slowed my roll.Wanksta had a catchy beat and that was about it.So,I listened to a friend's "Curtis" the third cd and when did 5o need the likes of Justin Timberlake and Timbaland to duet on his cd's???
    Mary J Blige????
Yeah and he had the nerve to twist lips about JaRule on J.Lo's single...how absurd!
You have got to be kidding me...this cd has nice beats but rapping about money on almost every other song gets little tiring and boring.
This CD is nothing but a big fat YAWN...........

  • 50 Cent is the new Pierre Delacroix
    By A287KRI86O4IM7 on 2007-09-21
See, he actually hates rap, or at least the direction hip-hop has taken. And so, like Pierre Delacroix of "Bamboozled" he decides to create some of the most uninspired, unoriginal crap, release it and watch his fans revolt and demand originality and quality in their hip-hop. But, to his dismay, the people love it! Love it more than anything! Millions and millions buy it! Oh the horror! "What have I done?", 50 says.

"I know what I'll do", he reasons,"I'll make my next album even crappier. I'll put even less effort into the next album, that'll kill hip-hop as we know it for sure!"

This, of course, is a re-enactment of actual events that may or may not have actually occurred. Yet it seems to be the only real explanation for "Curtis".

    What a horrible album.

Just to show I'm not a complete grouch.

Man Down, I Get Money, Mobin on Up and Amusement Park all have really good beats. Real good. The problem is that 50's monotone flow and inane lyrics actually detract from the song. He messes them up. Left me wanted to hear what some real MC's would do with them.

Seriously, how many songs, how many albums can you listen to the same two themes. Either it's, "I'll fill you with lead, I'll kill you dead", or it's "Ho, get in my car so I can make you a star". What? "Ayo Technology?"
What? "Ayo Technology" sounds like a tenth-rate ripoff of what was a third-rate song(Jay-Z's "Anything", from "Kingdom Come")

I actually feel like my quality of life is not as good after listening to this album.

  • Being Brutally Honest......Garbage!
    By A34DY6I1UJ8EO6 on 2007-09-11
Buy Chamillionaire's Ultimate Victory instead or even Kanye's Graduation, but stay very clear of 50's effort. Kanye's album is definetly his weakest effort, but stands atop a mountain compared to this garbage. But, all this hype about 50 & Kanye has left Chamillionaire's release all but overlooked. Buy Chamillionaire, trust me you won't be disappointed.

Honestly, I never have been a 50 fan, but this is a true testament to why. He is a hypocrite and a fake. He's got white dudes & white chicks singing on tracks; He's singing on tracks. I got no problem with other artists doing it, just him. Come on, he's worse than Ja Rule ever was.

Srandout tracks are "Follow My Lead" the track with featured artist Robin Thicke (in spite of what I said before) and "I Get Money." If you must hear them, download them.

  • Wow this is trerrible
    By AJHXZIX8NN6WK on 2007-09-11
I love 50 cent but this album is bad. Same old unimaginative junk. Cars, Women im rich and your not so listen to me tell you. Its cool the first time but im over, buy kanye if you want something your ears wont fall asleep to.

  • easily the worst
    By A2WMTDMBL2UKFJ on 2007-09-11
50's album is terrible. "Get Rich Or Die Trying" is a classic in my eyes and I am not even a 50 Cent fan int he least bit. "The Massacre" was bad and this is the worst album of them all. Besides many of the songs beats sounding similar, his lyrics are average at best and he's so repetitive with what he says. Money, killing, being 'gangsta,' hoes and more money. Typical rap today.

  • Actually, This Is A Great Effort From Fitty!
    By ABNI7Z61A82R4 on 2007-09-12
I bought this album along with Kanye West's new album. It seems a lot of people don't like this album simply because it is the controversial and overly confident 50 Cent. Well, to tell the truth, this is a very solid third album from one of the greats. Very good beats. A lot of people say his lyrics are weak, but I think they are much better than the lyrics from The Massacre. Overall, I think Curtis is a much better outing than The Massacre. It's not quite as great as Get Rich Or Die Tryin', but that was a true classic. I like both Fitty and Kanye, so I approach this competition with them with an open mind. Before you start hatin' on either one, actually go out and listen to both albums all the way through a couple times. Two great releases on the same day that will forever be remembered in hip-hop lore. Good job 50 Cent. Very strong album.

  • Still in the Hood?
    By A2C5VLIJMDPWHI on 2007-09-11
50 Cent came to Chicago talking so much trash about Kanye West. When people brag that hard, you start to wonder is their album really that raw. Initially I wasn't sure if I was going to buy it, but this cat is charming in interviews so I pre-ordered his CD along with Kanye's. The radio interviews he did on WGCI and B-96 were so funny that I took my shoes off and laid up in my car for an hour to listen to the whole thing before I left the parking lot. I didn't want to miss anything he said--the man had grandmothers calling in talking about how much they love him and to drink his water. However, I found a Website to preview the whole CD, and I'm so disappointed. Basic summary of the album: Load a gun, I'm fly, I have money, and if I call my woman a b**ch, I'll apologize with my fingers crossed. AND?! I heard "I Get Money" on "So You Think You Can Dance" and I loved the routine they did to that show. I'd already been bumping "Amusement Park" for quite some time. I thought this album was going to be full of cool songs like that, or at least something clever. The man even had Robin Thicke on here, and I love Thicke, but I was bored to death with that song. "Straight to the Bank" irritates me to no end with that one guy who hangs with him all the time laughing in that anal "Ha ha ha ha ha haaaaaa" chorus. Aargh! Of course the song that really blew me was when he said he's not from the hood, he's still in the hood. The killer part about that was a young lady called in while he was on WGCI and asked him if she could find him in New York, and he said he doesn't hang around like that. Now how are you going to be still in the hood, but then say you don't hang around like that? I hope Kanye's album is better. I'm actually quite shocked that Kanye is being so mellow, when he's usually so vain about his work. I guess 50 decided to take his place.

    By A1JRBSKHBNY88L on 2007-09-11
Whatever you do don't buy this junk heap.

To be honest only 2 songs I like the rest are complete trash

My Gun Go Off and Curtis 187 are the only good ones because of the beats the rest of this album is trash. Don't get this!!

  • Trash....
    By A2852NEJ4DCE70 on 2007-09-22
It's not hard for me to write this at all...this cd is pure trash. If you like to listen to profane and sexually explicit lyrics you'll love it, but I prefer to listen to something that takes more than a brain dump from a guy who's got overactive hormones and a super bad case of disrespect for women, the human race and even himself to create. From the looks of the reviews here and elseswhere many other people are feeling the same. Don't waste your money supporting this kind of filth!

  • One of the worst pop rappers ever.
    By AMP7TQRWAIE84 on 2007-10-25
But the song with Mary; All Of Me, that sample, well, it's hot. REAL hot.

He has to use other people's beats (I Get Money) to get rich and talking mindlessly (Tracks 2-4,Tracks 6-10, Tracks 12-14 and 16-17). I find that so damn pathetic!

Follow My Lead is a crappy song. Very crappy. 50 Cent writes his music (or at least some of it) and that's good. But he doesn't really talk about much other than being rich, and awesome, going to parties and being better than others. And hot women. Yay! We haven't heard that before!!

Amusement Park is fun though. Nice beat. Someone laced it, and it's wonderful. Probably the best song here. But Fire is wack, and Nicole is even wacker. The only song that she did worth noting is Come to Me. And that was DIDDY'S song. LOL @ her.

Kanye obviously won with the album sales, so why doesn't his tired a$$ retire?????!

Download Amusement Park and All Of Me and let's call it a day!

1.5 stars for an occasional hot beat.

  • Mediocre Album. Honestly.

This album has a few gems early on. "My Gun Go Off" & "Man Down" for example. The song with Akon is a slow down in momentum. "I Get Money" is definitely a highlight.... SCRATCH THAT!!You know what? Put it this way. I like 6 songs out of 17. And "Amusement Park" "Peep Show" & "Fire" are HORRIBLE TRACKS. Easily in the worst songs of the year category. Once again 50, you disappoint, but the sad thing is, I'm not disappointed.

  • 50 Cent - Curtis
    By A2L3WEVFOCA7OY on 2007-09-11
South Jamaica, Queens rapper 50 Cent (A.K.A. Curtis James Jackson III) delivers his third studio album (Get Rich Or Die Tryin (2003), The Massacre(2005)) with "Curtis" (2007) a seveteen track release which features guest appearances from Akon, Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke, Eminem, Nicole Scherzinger, Young Buck, Mary J. Blige & Tony Yayo. The thirty-two year old rapper enlisted an assortment of producers who contribute to this release they include: Adam Deitch, Eric Krasno, Detroit Red, Don Cannon, DJ Khalil, Apex, Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Danja, The Bizness, Jake One, Ty Fyffe, Dangerous LLC, Havoc, Eminem & K-Lassik. My favourite tracks on this release are "I'll Still Kill" feat. Akon & "Follow My Lead" feat. Robin Thicke. The former has 50 Cent collabrating with Akon for a banger, both artists shine; Akon laces the track with an outstanding chorus while 50 Cent lets it be known that he still hungry ripping the track up with some grimy lyrics. The later track & fifth single is a laidback love joint which features an appearance from singer & rising star Robin Thicke and some on point production from Tha Bizness, feeling this one. "Ayo Technology" is the big name collaboration which will help this release sell, Justin Timberlake & Timbaland drop in on the cut. While I don't mind this joint, I quickly got tired of hearing it after the radio overplay. 50 Cent drops solid tracks about getting his grind on with "Straight to the Bank" & it's remix "I Get Money", these ones bump in the ride. Another stellar track is the Havoc produced "Fully Loaded Clip", where 50 rhymes about his gun game. Commercial track's like "Amusement Park", "Peep This" feat. Eminem & "Fire" feat. Nicole Scherzinger, Young Buck could have been left off this release. "Amusement Park" reminds me of a watered down version of past radio joints like "Candy Shop" (which was bad to begin with), on "Peep This" I found myself waiting for the Eminem verse and thinking these two can and have made way better music together. "Fire" is a mess, Dr. Dre' production is less then memorable, while Nicole Scherzinger & Young Buck make lackluster guest appearances. I am fan of Mary J Blige's music but find chemistry lacking in "All Of Me" a track that never really goes anywhere. I found some of the material on this album to be under produced, sparse and a step down from past releases. 50 could use a better production team as the release ends up lacking continuity at times. The standout track's on "Curtis" save the day, I recommend this release to dedicated 50 Cent fans. 3.5.

How can an artist be in the game this long, and have the same subject matter on every song? Same concepts song after song. No growth at all. If you've heard on 50 cent song you've heard them all. Save your money!!!!!!

O.K. people, let's get one thing clear...Kanye & 50 release two different types of music. Stop comparing the two. A good analogy to make would be to compare Kanye West's album to a good drama you pay to see at the movies, but would NEVER buy once it comes out on disc. It's good, but not something you and your friends would sit around the living room watching. On the other hand, 50's album is like a summer blockbuster that is so amazing (i.e.: action sequences or stunning visuals) that you'll watch it more than once at the movies and then BUY the DVD once it's released. You can watch a mindless action flick like Kill Bill or Matrix with some buddies without feeling weird. So yes, Kanye's music may be deeper and 50's may be more surface layered, but the CURTIS album is a better value for your money. And to those that side with Kanye on a moral standpoint, consider this: Kanye says the N-word quite frequently, uses all the curse words known to man, raps about taking advantage of intoxicated women, and gloats about money as well. In addition, Kanye's lyrical ability is slightly lackluster. In 50's mixtape days it seemed as if he could be on the same song as Canibus, and he frequently held his own when rhyming with Eminem. Kanye West cannot RHYME NEXT TO EMINEM; remember what happened to Jay-Z on "Renegade"? These two are only giving the public what they WANT to see. You want 50 Cent to be a thug, so he accomodated you. If anyone thinks 50 Cent isn't lyrical go "obtain" his unreleased album POWER OF THE DOLLAR. It is a hip-hop purist album on par with ILLMATIC, REASONABLE DOUBT & READY TO DIE. However, lyrics like those don't sell today. Lloyd Banks once said, "Go 'head 'cuz switch your style up/ And if they hate, let 'em hate/ And watch the money pile up/". Trust me, I am not rolling through my hood in Brooklyn bumping Kanye's music. That is an automatic carjacking. The dudes in my hood will look at me the way zombies do when they find out a warm flesh and blood human is in their midst. They stare with annoyed shock and then give chase.

  • "Curtis" is garbage

if you seen the music videos you already heard the best tracks. i get money obviously the best track. followed by ayo tech. but pretty much everything after that all sounds like stright to the bank. all the beats sound so similer. and he is still rapping about his "gangster life" cars, and women. its getting really old, but atleast there isnt a referance to being shot 9 times. "curtis" makes kanyes album look like a classic. seriously. dont waste your money. you'll do better downloading a mixtape.
