  • Aquapac Waterproof, Submersible Headphones

    By A38PF3NM8WNP19 on 2007-10-03
Have used "waterproof" earphones before, none worked well. These do. I swim continuously on my back, ears submerged. Sound is excellent. Plan to wash chlorine and salt out after each use by quick dip (of the phones, not me) in distilled H2O.

  • These are the ones to get

    By A534QFI0IZW4K on 2007-11-14
I have tried the H20Audio and the LiquidTunes, both which had problems. I had to return the H2OAudio ones - they didn't fit in my ear and just flooded with water. The LiquidTunes were good seal-wise, but very poor audio, and had crappy wiring that I had to re-solder.

Aquapac - more expensive but well worth it. Seals off the water, pretty comfortable, great sound. Audio is good enough I can listen to music and not just podcasts.

  • Plugs come out of ears with water current

    By A1DSG7W573LTDC on 2008-01-17
I received these earphones for Christmas this year. I got it in the water and they worked. The sound was great...BUT THEY WOULDN'T STAY IN MY EARS AS I SWAM. The water current created while swimming simple freestyle laps would pull first one out, and then the other as I would turn my head to breath. It was incredibly frustrating and the cord kept getting in the way. The ear plugs are too big too for my earholes. I dont' think my ears are abnormally small either.....what a total disappointment and waste of a gift. :(

  • Don't stay in ear

    By A1L9VIRLUIWSP4 on 2008-04-15
I have tried waterproof headphones from Aquapac (two different kinds) and H2O Audio. They either do not seal/fit properly in the ear or they don't stay in the ear. These won't stay in the ear. I've tried them. They might work for a few laps, but inevitably come out or lose the seal/sound. I only bought them because I couldn't find another pair I previously had that worked. But I just found them! They are from waterproofcases.net. They have a ribbed insert that goes in the ear canal and seals and *stays*.

  • THEY DON'T WORK

    By A2406X90HZ7W7M on 2008-01-25
I RECENTLY PURCHASED THESE HEADPHONES FOR LAP SWIMMING IN THE POOL. AT FIRST THEY SEEMED TO BE FINE. HOWEVER, AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES, THEY CAME OUT ALLOWING WATER TO ENTER MY EAR. THEY CLAIM THAT ONE SIZE FITS ALL. I HAVE TRIED USING THEM SEVERAL MORE TIMES. THE SAME THING OCCURS. I CAN'T GET THEM TO STAY IN MY EAR. THEY NEED TO BE TAPERED SO THAT THEY CAN ACCOMODATE ANY SIZE EAR. IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE THEM FOR SWIMMING, THIS PRODUCT IS NOT FOR YOU. I JUST PURCHASED THE H3 HEADPHONES AND THEY WORK PERFECTLY. THEY SIT COMFORTABLY IN MY EAR AND STAY THERE FOR THE DURATION OF MY SWIM.

  • Almost perfect
    By A2W4I43U08X31E on 2008-02-14
These headphones are very comfortable in the ear and if you stuff them in so the water seals out, the sound is awesome. They sound just as clear underwater while swimming as any regular earbuds do out of water. The only problem is that they do come out. This problem can be alleviated by wearing a swim cap. Just a little pressure on the bud keeps it in this ear. Without the cap though, they will pop out every 100 yards and drive you crazy.

  • Great fit and great sound!
    By A2E6TL7VP38K91 on 2008-08-10
Earphones are personal, but these fit my small ears just fine, and the sound is great. (There are two sizes of rubber inserts included, and I'm using the smaller one but the larger one also fits me.)

Whenever you're inserting in-the-ear earphones it helps to make sure that they are firmly seated in the ear canal. I learned the "pull your ear flap back" trick long ago and it makes all the difference as it temporarily stretches the opening to your ear to make insertion easier. It sounds silly, but try it and see.

I'm using these with the H20 Audio Waterproof Housing for iPod nano 3G (Gray) and the combination is just great. I couldn't be happier.

  • Great Idea...bad execution
    By A1TBI4R48AR7TA on 2008-03-12
I bought these in conjunction with my Aquapac, the Aquapac works great however these are a complete waste. They come out with even minimal movement.

  • waterproof earphones
    By A3NH9ZN2B3O4VQ on 2008-03-30
I have tried quite a few waterproof earphones, and these work the best. I use them for swimming and also just to wear around, since they are very comfortable. You have to get them seated correctly before you go in the water, but if you take time to place them properly they do not leak. My only complaint is that the soft rubber seals on the ear buds tend to come off and get lost. However, they do come with spares.

  • Very Happy
    By A13SPJ6DRRDIGN on 2008-01-21
Tried the H2O Audio and they were a miserable failure. Broke down and bought the Aquapacs with some reluctance, used them this morning and they were perfect. I am very excited about swimming laps with these now. Highly recommend.

  • Not for active swimmers!
    By A1RTIPSBPL6L0D on 2008-09-25
I wonder what all the people who give this product 5-stars are doing with these headphones, because it must not be lap swimming. I got them about 2 months ago, but only got to use them yesterday because I didn't have the waterproof ipod to go with them yet. I was so disappointed, words can't even express. The sound quality is pretty good, and when I just put them in and went underwater at the end of the lane, I was so thrilled that I could finally listen to music when I worked out, but within 3 strokes it was all over. I was doing a slow, controlled freestyle and didn't even get to the end of the lane before they popped out. They are carefully perched in your ear with the little rubber earpiece. I have pretty normal-sized ears, and these things are not even close to snugly fitting. I would recommend that anyone who wants to try these, make sure there's a good return policy (I just ate $40 on mine). And if anyone still wants some, I'll sell you a pair at a very reasonable price. :)

  • Aquapac earplugs are great!
    By A2HQQSSEV3WXGM on 2008-02-13
I love these earplugs. They are snug and the sound is amazing. They don't fall out and help keep the water out of my ears. I've already recommended this product to 3 people.

  • Not that great
    By A111HBC7WTY647 on 2008-08-25
I bought these earphones a few months ago and I have been pretty disappointed with them. They worked great at first- but after a few swims, they started failing. The sound goes in and out and they aren't very comfortable. The only way i can keep them in my ears is to put my swim cap over them (I have extremely small ears- if your ears are normal size, this probably won't be an issue for you). Overall, I think these are way overrated- I will not buy them again.

  • Not if you want to take them underwater
    By A13BMLLYL9DRXI on 2008-09-15
Look at the picture. That's all you need to know. No part of these headphones actually go into the ear canal, thus the only thing keeping these in place is your lack-of-moving. Thus these are not good for swiming. Nor would I even take them running. The sound is fine (not great but fine) so they aren't a total waste, but these definitely cannot be used for lap swiming. The headphones that come with the "Freestyle Waterproof MP3 Player," though they are painful as hell, stay in your ears. Then again, every Freestyle player I've used has broken after the first swim, due to water leakage.

  • I highly recommend these!
    By AOC412HNEC7GF on 2008-10-08
I got these about a month ago and have been using them at least 3x/week since with no problems. I swim a mile each time. I use these with an Otterbox in an armband. Swimming with an Ipod is WONDERFUL, it makes the swim go so much faster!!!

As other reviewers have noted, you have to wear a swim cap with these to keep them in your ears. I bought an inexpensive latex one at a sporting goods shop for around $6. I usually stop once per swim to adjust my headphones, it only takes a moment and I swim for around 30-35 minutes. So if you are a really hardcore swimmer who doesn't want to stop at all, you might need a step up from these. My problem is usually that my swim cap eventually rides up over my ears and then one side will pop out.

I think the sound is pretty good with these, I have no problem hearing my music although of course it sounds best when my head is completely submerged. I think these are great headphones for the money!!
