  • Great for problem feet

I have had problems with my feet because of over pronation and these shoes have been a great help!!!

  • Best Running shoe Ever.

I went through every brand of running shoes . I am tall and have a large frame and I tend to go through running shoes rather quickly. When I discovered Brooks about 4 years ago it was Heaven sent. Yes these shoes are expensive compared to others but you get your moneys' worth and hey spend money are your feet! We abuse them everyday. They suppport my whole foot and I have not lost any toenails as with others. I now run for fitness and not races. These shoes last me about 6 months. So if you are in searching mode I HIGHLY recommend these shoes.

For the last several years I have been purchasing the New Balance 2000 and 2001 running shoe. I do not do really any running at all, but the comfort of those shoes really help with my ankle problems. I decided to try the Brooks Beast to get away from the high price of the New Balance 2001. I have defiantly got my money's worth in the comfort of the brooks shoe.

  • Great shoe for big over-pronators

    By ANIM4I77ZQ8LK on 2007-05-07
I love this shoe becuase its wide and very supportive. I ran with the orignal Beast which was good but heavy and over the years the've take some of the bulk out and it feels as light as any other shoe. Unbelievable price too!

  • Excellent Motion Control Shoe

    By A3IR3SKT992M2F on 2007-01-03
This shoe holds up well under my 210 pound frame. The shoe also supports my orthotics well and fits perfectly (I am actually about a size 12 1/2). I still think this is the best heavy duty shoe for the money.

  • NOT GOOD FOR RUNNING
    By A2UMT723PQ6YA1 on 2007-11-28
I began serious running about a year-and-a-half ago using cheap running shoes. Everyone kept telling me I needed to upgrade before I injured myself. I finally went to a running store where I was fitted with a pair of Brooks Beast due to my over pronation. As I first started running in them they seemed fine, but with each training run they became more uncomfortable. By the end of a month I was in such excruciating pain I could not run a full mile. I switched back to my cheap shoes and had immediate relief from the pain. I was back to running 10k distances in a few weeks. People who walk in these shoes seem to love them, runners seem far less taken with them.

  • A Great Shoe for Problem Feet
    By A36NK09BW2TB2U on 2008-01-19
Here we have what must be an old clique - the letter carrier with problem feet. I've had weak ankles and rather serious pronation for years. Physical therapists recommended the Brooks Beast and it works for me - very well. Great arch and ankle support. As for price, I compared and this time Amazon was the best. I buy two pair at a time so I can alternate shoes every day in the hope of extending their life in the rather stressful conditions I put them through. A good bet all around.

  • Never buy anything else.
    By A3TEXPGO5OVX9F on 2008-03-25
I've been buying Brooks Beast for about 7 years now. The best running shoe I've ever owned. I think these are recommend for bigger runners and/or motion control (but I'm no expert). I'm 6'2", 215-ish, 13W foot, run several times a week, and ran a marathon in Beast. I haven't found another shoe that fits as well or provides appropriate cushioning and motion control.

  • Beast has support and motion control to combat plantar faciitis for wide-footed heavy guys
    By A1IFSY6XDJBWRI on 2007-11-25
About a year ago, when initiating a new exercise regimen too aggressively, I injured my left heel, and I suffered for the following eight months or so from a painful chronic condition called plantar fasciitis. I've reviewed several of the products I used to treat that, but in hindsight, I almost certainly would have been well advised to have invested sooner -- preferably BEFORE being injured, but failing that, soon thereafter -- in a much more stable and better-constructed running shoe.

Finally, a few weeks ago -- after reading dozens and dozens of reviews -- I took the plunge into internet shoe-buying through Amazon. Several Brooks models offered variable widths, and I knew I needed a 2E.

The Beast is indeed better made overall than the $40-50 shoes I'd previously worn, paradoxically combining better comfort with less wiggling flexibility. The support is just terrific, even though the mesh areas of the uppers breathe and ventilate better than what I'd previously worn.

If you're a heavy guy (as I am) with wide feet (as I have) and a history of foot or heel problems (as I've had), you should seriously consider forking out for these. In fact, I liked these so much that after wearing them a couple of days, I ordered a second pair to use in rotation.

  • Cool name so so shoe
    By A3UB29UMUZ088W on 2008-02-29
I've been wearing the Brooks Beast for a couple of weeks and am not pleased with these shoes. I bought them primarily for work, I work in a warehouse and am on concrete and am constantly moving. I was looking to move up from the New Balance I had and went with the rave reviews for the Brooks but there no better than the New Balance and at least the New Balance is American made unlike the China made Brooks.
I'd give them 1 star for comfort, 3 stars for design and 2 stars for quality. For my overall 2 out of 5 rating.

What's not to like? Brooks is a great brand and the online price was good.

    By A1WT2217ZEF5SK on 2007-08-06
Shoe has great feel and support, but needs more support in arch. Also, I'm not sure that this shoe is built as sturdy as the brand was is some other model years.

    By A2332NLO5J7G1V on 2007-10-03
It's a quality shoe but maybe not as supportive as the previous models. The insole seems a bit soft but I still like the shoe just not as much as previous models.

  • ontime, good price, totaly hassle free

This is the second pair of this shoe that I've purchased. It fits perfectly and accommodates my orthotics.

  • Lots of Confusion
    By AFKY5H8QLPW35 on 2008-03-06
This review is more about the website than the shoe. I like Brooks products and was looking for the best pricing. I found several prices in the neighborhood of $100-120 on Amazon's merchants sites, all of which seemed high considering they all charged extra for shipping. I was getting frustrated until I found the shoe could indeed be purchased through Amazon for $81 + tax. I jumped on it and it was delivered two days later.

  • Best for Heavy Runners
    By A3JZ3VUPQRVJBB on 2008-04-21
Definitely the best for heavy runners (6'4", 250#; 4 marathons, all in Beasts). Continue to be the best for the HUGE pounding they take. Nothing (everyone tries to recommend Nike) compares. Well worth the price and will save your feet, and knees. Generally last as long as any other brand even when they have to handle twice the weight. VERY comfortable. Cadillaics for the feet. Think they run a bit small.

Very pleased with the price and quality of these shoes. Best price anywhere and free shipping to boot.

  • Saved my knees
    By A2T4J5Y4UBCF97 on 2008-05-03
The Beast literally saved my knees. After years of MCL pain and subpatellar grinding as well as pain when running, I was ready to go have my knees checked by an ortho doc. Then I bought the Beast at a local shoe store. After wearing them one week, I noticed my knee pain dropping dramatically. After 2 months of wearing them, just walking around, my problems are all but gone (my feet don't hurt at the end of the day either).
I have very flat feet, external rotation (duck feet), and pronate.
If you are similar and have not tried these, do it now. I want to buy 15 pairs to last me a long time in case they stop making them or change them.

  • Always a good fit
    By A2NWA2WKEAOPXN on 2008-07-14
I have bad plantar fasciitis. The Brooks beast has been consistantly the best shoe for me. The sizes, performance and durability are always consistant.

  • Brooks Beast Review
    By A3CV3NFZAITG5S on 2008-07-17
The Brooks shoe is the best for my foot condition and is recommended over and over by Pedorthists. This is my second pair of 'The Beast' and I am ver satisfied with the quality.

  • The Beast
    By AY1IQPIC1FU5T on 2008-07-17
The Beast is the best shoe for me. Being heavier than most heavy runners (260 pounds), the support and cushioning is very important. I've been running in the Beast shoes for several years now and haven't had any problems. These shoes arrived on time and were the correct size and color.

  • Perfect Shoes, Great Service
    By A2I6XEOSAIX8CD on 2008-08-17
These are the only shoes my feet will wear! They are supportive, comfy and perfect for someone who has to be on their feet all day!

  • Heavy runner's long distance shoe
    By AEY5D54UKWTSN on 2008-08-18
I weigh 190, size 8.5 - 9 feet, and had leg and knee pain with Asics and other store recommended shoes. The beast by Brooks has been the shoe I've comfortably worn now for several months and the pains have nearly disapeared. I run more than 20 miles per week consistently and they are holding up great. I ran 15 miles in them 2 days ago feeling great. 1st Marathon, here I come.

One problem was a piece of decorative rubber pressed against my foot, just behind my big toe. It's on the exterior of the shoe and looks like a little swoop. I used an exacto knife to cut it off and the rubbing stopped. I'll be buying more of the Beast.
