  I, too, originally bought these pillows because they supposedly contained "gel" of some sort, and so I had lofty dreams of sleeping on a giant keyboard wrist rest, with my body temperature evening out in the chilly goo inside. Initially I was quite turned off by the discovery that they contained polyester fibers inside and wrote a somewhat scathing review. However, further research on the Internet revealed that these are in fact "polyester gel fiber" pillows. I found several patents that sounded like they could describe these fibers (in truth, I don't know for sure), but more importantly, I realized that the purpose of these fibers is to mimic goose down while retaining the hypoallergenic properties of poly-fill. Sure enough, I tested the feel of these pillows versus my standard poly-fill pillows, and there is in fact a marked difference. Based on my experiences with goose down, which I generally have liked in European hotels, I am actually suprised to say that once I realized the purpose of the filling, they do in fact mimic down pillows rather effectively. My only complaint at this point is that they are a little underfilled for my personal tastes. The covers are sateen cotton and quite comfortable (although honestly aren't we all using pillow cases anyway?). Comparing these to other offerings from other companies and retailers, the price is quite low for a polyester gel fiber filled set of pillows. If you like goose down, but cannot enjoy the softness due to allergies, or don't like the stiff feather backbones of cheaper down pillows, then this is a right-priced and hypoallergenic alternative.

  OK, I bought these because I thought maybe they were that space age "airo foam" or some new "gel" or gel insert, from the description:
  Gel filled standard pillows
  No, just good old polyester, like you find in all other pillows.
  Except these are different-- They have a fancy name AND THEY COST MORE.
  These are good quality pillows. BUT not at over 10 bucks each.
  These are just the normal polyester pillows.
  Note to self: Buy pillows in person so you can feel them, OR contact seller before purchase to inquire about materials.
  So, three out of five stars, they are nice pillows, but NOT all that special.

  I bought these to replace a couple of down pillows I had that were getting old and rather shabby.
  
  These have the same *feeling* as down, but are heavier (weight). They plump up very nicely, and provide the same support as a medium-firm down pillow. If you have allergies, these are ideal.
  
  I'm really sold on them -- in fact, I'm getting ready to order 4 more. I just wish they came in Queen size.

  Did you catch the Oprah show where she berates a relative for having not replaced some gross guest room pillows in years? Well, I'm not that relative, but I did decide to follow suit and order new pillows for our guest room. These pillows seemed more than adequate for periodic guests.
  
  When they arrived, I was impressed and thought that they looked much higher quality than I expected for the price. I decided to try them out in our master bedroom.
  
  After one night, we were sold and tossed out our old pillows. I had to come back and order another set for guests. At less than $10 a pillow, even if they only last a year, I am happy with this purchase.

  This is the first item I bought from Amazon that I am disappointed with, so much so I would send them back if re-packaging and sending them off wasn't such a hassle LOL!
  
  If you like a softer, less firm pillow, you might like this pillow. For me the pillows are just like standard, discount department store, five dollar fluffy bed pillows. They have no weight or firmness to them, I can't see or feel anything special about them.
  
  I wouldn't recommend this pillow to anyone who likes a firm yet lofty pillow. I'm a side sleeper who likes to tuck the end of my pillow under to make my pillow nice and firm, yet I like to have some softness or loftyness to craddle me.
  
  I own a Carpenter Company gel pillow that I LOVE (no tucking required!) that Amazon no longer carries. I was hoping to find something comparable so I could furnish each bedroom with great firm, yet soft, pillows. I fell short of that goal with this choice. The pillows also have an odd smell to me ... they're not something I would want to lay my head on at night.

  These pillows are everything you imagine a really puffy pillow with weight should be. Nearly as big as a body pillow, your head will be so nestled into the pillow that you sleep really well. If you want true comfort, these are just great, very different and you will wish you ordered every size.

  We bought a pair of these pillows on sale for $17 and are ordering two more pairs... Why? Because they are exceptionally comfortable and do not have allergy issues like down pillows. How good are they? We went on vacation and when we returned, our teenagers had hijacked our pillows and put them in their own pillow cases, thinking we wouldn't notice their down pillows in exchange! We did, repossessed them and are ordering more for the kids for Christmas. Highly recommended...

  When the pillows first arrived, I groaned because they didn't look like anything special, and even kind of wimpy. The first night I used mine, I piled it on top of the other pillows I already had, hoping to make it firm enough to sleep on. It didn't work. The next night, I threw all the other pillows off my bed and tried this one alone. It was perfect! It felt like I was sleeping on what I used to imagine the clouds were--firm enough to support me, but soft like air. I'm going to buy one for each person in my house--and a couple for my guest room so my parents can get a good night's sleep when they come for Christmas.

  The retail value price of $110 Amazon has is completely innacurate. These are just average pillows, nothing special about them. They aren't even that fluffy. The gel-filled center is nothing unusual, I found out that most of my pillows are gel-filled, I just didn't know it! For the price I got these during a Friday sale ($12.99) with my prime shipping, it was a fairly good deal. Nothing special, just a couple of extra pillows.

  I bought two sets, one standard and one king, on a Friday Sale. They arrived promptly and are great pillows. The cover is superior smooth cotton/polyester. There was no odor. The size was what I expected and they are lofty and light. They are not a bad buy at $25, and were a real bargain at the Friday Sale price.

  I like these pillows. They seem well made. They are very comfortable. I would describe them as squishy. The only bad thing is that they smelled funny when they arrived, and I had to wash them twice to get rid of the odd smell. Kind of a melted plastic smell.

  I ordered these pillows because I needed a new down pillow and with my allergies, I thought that perhaps, if I changed to a synthetic pillow, my sinuses would be better in the morning.
  
  Well....I bought new pillows at Sams because these pillows smell like hair dye! Hydrogen Peroxide smell...real bad. I have aired them on the back porch for days, fluffed them in the drier and they still smell.
  
  Is this some kind of fumigation process that the China factory uses before they ship?
  
  Edited on 10/16/08. Pillows still smell. I have had them on the guest bed for a year airing out. I may have to give in and throw them away.
  
  
  
  
• Dream Supreme Plus Pillows

  These are the softest pillows I have ever slept on. We got both the standard and king size while they had them on sale ($18.99). Used together they actually tend to be too soft. We ended up using a regular foam pillow under the Dream supreme pillow and it was GREAT. Support and comfort. And you can't beat the price! If you don't like super soft pillows, then don't get these. But if you do, I would order them right away while the price is so good.

  I was a bit apprehensive getting pseudo-down pillows, but these are wonderful. They're pleasantly firm, but definitely have enough give to cushion you. Very well made, and very comfortable. I don't get neck cricks in the morning anymore, like I used to with my flatter pillows.

  I really like these, they feel wonderful. I love my memory foam mattress but the memory foam pillows were too firm so I got these to replace them and I am very pleased. Whatever fills these pillow, I think they're terrific.

  I HATE THEM. They are very very hard and inflexible. I put my pillow shams on them and throw them on the floor at night. I don't even use them. NOT what I expected and they have a terrible odor even being outside for two days and febreezed.

• NOT made for side sleepers!

  For anyone who likes a firmer pillow for sleeping on their side, this pillow is NOT the one for you. In the description, it said it was good for "back, side and stomach sleepers," but I definitely do not agree. There is just not enough fill in the pillow for my (and my husband's taste). I felt like I had to grab the whole pillow and cram it into a tiny ball under my head just to get enough support!
  
  I gave it three stars because they were super-cheap, so I shouldn't really have expected excellence. The gel-fiber fill is pretty cool - definitely comfortable. I personally think these pillows would have beeen AMAZING if they would have filled it about 50% (if not 100%) more! We just took the memory foam insert from our old pillows and stuffed them inside, and now their great.

  Ordered two from Amazon and after they arrived ordered two more. Fluffy and soft.. and nicely squishy. A great value for money at approx $12.50 each. Provided you don't have some ridiculous expectations of what a twelve dollar pillow should be, these are a great product.

  They remind me of some of the pillows I slept on in European hotels.
  Fluffy. Yes there is an odd smell to the pillows, but a couple of days of airing it out does the trick nicely. I have a hard time sleeping and this has helped quite a bit. Here's hoping it keeps its characteristics for a while... for $12.99 I cannot complain.

• If you're prone to headaches... skip these pillows!

  I hate to leave a bad review but I feel I have to warn others about these pillows! I've had them for 2 weeks now and every time I use them I wake up with a severe headache/neck ache. There is something very strange about the firmness of these pillows... they seem to be *hard* in the middle yet offer zero support for your neck so your head ends up being tilted. Not good, especially if you are prone to headaches as I am.
  
  They do have a strange odor when you first open them, although it seemed to disappear over a few days. They don't bother my husband at all but it's back to the old Serta pillows for me!
